I had left my car for about five minutes.when i returned the tire was flat, andi noticed a slit in the sidewall.later i filled the tire with air.the visible slit did not leak air, but another smaller crack did.there was no other damage to the tire.
Michelin ltx at2 tires.excessive cracking.tires with 30,000 miles on them and well over one-half tread remaining have developed widespread sidewall cracks.cracks are more than cosmetic, you can actually feel raised bumps if you run your hand over them.the cracks seem severe enough that i am concerned about tire failures, particularly at highway speeds.internet search shows many similar complaints, and evidence that michelin has been quietly offering discounted replacements to those who complain directly to them.i recently filed a complaint on their website but have not heard back.this problem is widespread enough that a more formal program on michelin's part seems warranted.

All 4 of my michelin ltx m/s p235/75 r15 tires are exhibiting severe cracking and tread separation. Based upon similar problems experienced with other manufacturers' tires, i am aware that this is a safety-related defect which has the potential to cause great harm and damage.i am requesting an investigation into this product for potential recall. S/n on tire m3ulbf7x4000, entire side wall failed causing a blowout.i was driving 65 mph with no weight in the truck.tires were purchased on 12/13/2000 and only had about 2000 miles.several layers of rubber separated allowing for one side of the tire to be completely seperated (you could put your hand inside the tire and run it all the way around).the broken rubber did not smell burned.i returned the tire to sam's club in vernon hills, il for replacement, they replaced the defective tire, but refused to replace the other tire.they assured me that this was an isolated incident and that michelin would fully investigate the cause of the failure. On saturday may 31, 2003, my wife and i were on our way to tucson, az from san diego, ca in separate vehicles.we were in arizona on interstate 8 travelling eastbound, 23 miles west of casa grande.the speed limit was 75 and that is what my wife was doing.the air temperatureound 100 degrees.all four michelin ltxams 255 70 r 16 tires were properly inflated.the right rear tire completely blew out.the outside sidewall completely separated from the tire at the shoulder.these tires are two years old and hadless than 20000 miles on them.
The michelin ltxa 1115 265 7516 tires experienced very bad separation which caused the vehicle to vibrate. *mjs

I drive 70,000 miles a year...i have had a set of 4 michlin tires that have shown obvios signs of tread seperation ...very similar to what is shown on tv with the firestone recall problem.......i have been a over the road driver and do know what i feel is unsafe in tires...i took these off my truck with over 1/2 of tread still on them,as ifeared that they were to come apart...i contacted the dealer(sams club) for adjustment...the store manager was called in to the problem and he called some paperpusher at michlin anddescribed the problem....they said it was not their problem as the tires did not fail, that it appeared according to description that it was surface checking, but it is completely around tread in and out side on alll 4 tires...these were rotated and balanced regularly on service contract with selling dealer..so they had all maint required.....i did replace them as i said i feared failure....i am wondering if there are any other reports on this tire.( dot number: m32kbhx519 tire size: lt245/75/r )
