My wife experienced a second tire failure today while driving down the road.our 2015 ford escape has 11,011 miles on it.the first failure occurred in mid-january 2016 when the vehicle had 9,537 miles on it.the sidewall on both tires showed a large crack in it after the failure.both failures were not the result of striking a road hazard.the tire deflation light came on right away when the failures occurred.the failures did not result in a collision since they occurred at a speed of approximately 25mph and there wasn't any traffic around.the first failed tire was replaced with the same michelin tire.my wife and i have both been driving 40+ years and i've never experienced a problem like this with any of my vehicles or with a michelin tire in the past.i strongly suspect there is a design issue or manufacture defect with these tires.it has been a rare instance when this vehicle has been operated on the highway.i am reluctant to do so with these tires on the vehicle, and equally reluctant to replace this second failure with a like michelin considering the complaints i have found registered with the national highway traffic safety administration after researching this tire on the nhtsa.gov website.i do have photos of the second failed tire to document the damage and tire dot # since i will be replaced the failed tire tomorrow.
There was no failure; mechanic noticed bad sidewall on right tire. Shortly after, sidewalls went bad on two additional tires with dry-rot cracking noticed throughout treads. Wire bands can be seen on left front tire sidewall from a "gouge-out". Many deep cracks on original right front tire; back left tire is starting to crack on sidewall from the inside (it appears). Tires are michelin greenx energy saver a/s radial tubeless, p225/50r17 95v, dot b0(?)0a 00nx 0510. Car is 2000 nissan maxima se vin [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
At 42,039 miles on a 2011 dodge grand caravan my wife experienced a suspicious blowout on a 225/65x17 michelin energy saver a/s tire with a 100t rating.the dot # is: m33t 00kx 1711.this is a 65,000 mile tire.no foreign objects were struck.the air pressure, tire rotations, and alignments were done in a timely fashion.i no longer felt safe on these tires and replaced all 4 with another brand.this was clearly a manufacturers defect.
Low speed (~15mph) impact with road hazard caused catastrophic sidewall failure and blowout.
Michelin energy saver a/s (v-rated)there is something terribly wrong with this tire.in nearly 30 years of driving various vehicles, but in the same general vicinity, i must say these are the absolute worse tires ever!!!!my husband and 3 tow truck drivers concur.this is ridiculous. I've had 3 completely shredded tiresin 15 months.i've been very meticulous about tire pressures as well, so that's not the problem.i think these are just very cheap and hazardous tires.warning!!!
I have owned 5 michelin energy saver a/s tires, size 225/50r17. Three of them developed sidewall bubbles in less than 40,000 miles, some within 5000 miles of purchase. All tires had to be replaced since driving on these tires could cause death. This tire is defective and should be recalled.
My family recently purchased 4 new tires michelin energy saver a/s 265/65/18. The tires were purchased in november. With the tires being under 6 months old we have already experienced the following issues. 4 separate flat tires. Which i gave michelin the benefit of the doubt that its not completely there fault for nails / screws being in roadways. But common 4 flats in a matter of a few months with only 4k miles being put on the vehicle since tires installed. Finally what completely got me was the side wall developed a 3 inch split. Im just glad i noticed it before my wife and kids were driving the vehicle down the highway and had a blowout on the steer tires. After looking at reviews online im not the only person that having issue with these tires. There are multiple complaints about sidewall blowouts and these tires being magnets for screws and nails. Also many reviews about premature dry rot. (i cant wait for them to develop this issue as its more than likely coming). Terrible tires. Dont recommend these for anyone. I dont want to see anyone hurt or injured due to this poorly engineered tire.
2020 chevy suburban less than 5,000 miles on michelin energy saver a/s 265/65r18--appears a bulge caused a triangle size crack exposing sidewall. The vehicle has never towed, or been off road and is stored in garage
Michelin tires have severe cracking and rotting in all 4 original tires.only 28,000 miles on them.these tires should be recalled for safety.they leak air from all tires.
Bought 2013 regal buick october of 2013.i had 2 tires to blow out last year and 1 yesterday.this is 3 tires i had to replace.this can't be normal.
Numerous tires have had sidewall failure. We have had two tires withing 8 months (7000 miles).
