A rip appeared in the sidewall of my front tire over the course of several days. The tire appears to be separating. I noticed it after hearing a clicking sound while driving slowly in a parking lot.this was not proceeded by any impact to the tire. I have mercedes c230 2002, with oem michelin mxv4 plus 205/55 r16.one tire was blown and replaced 3 years ago. Now all tires develop huge cracks on the edge of tread and sidewall as well as inside of tread. Tires are in between 5/32nd and 7/32nd tread with 40k miles, and would be good to go for another 2 years easily. But, according to mercedes and michelin dealers (les schwab) tires unsafe to drive! i called michelin 866-866-6605 november 03-07, after 30 min conversation with les schwab manager involved, michelin admit manufacturing defect, and offered 45% off new tires purchase. Here is what michelin offer actually means:1) 45% discount apply only to michelin and same mxv4 plus is $205/ea and it means$820 x0.55 = $451 to pay. 2) i must pay dismount + mount + balance + disposal fees, which is $20 per tire x4 = $80, so total out of my pocket becomes $531 +tax!

My michelin energy plus lx4 tires have been losing air pressure at an extreme rate.we must put air in them at least once a week.took the car (2005 chrysler pacifica) to the only local michelin dealer.when we explained the problem, without even looking at the tire, technician said he already knew the problem- that it is very common.michelin tires react with aluminum rims (which my pacifica has) and cause oxidation.he said it doesn't matter where you live- that this is a common problem.to fix the problem, them put a new sealant between the tires and the rims- cost of approx. $80.he could not tell me if and/or when this would happen again.the local chrysler dealership seems to never have heard of this problem.my pacifica was taken into the dealership for an oil change and inspection 1 1/2 weeks after the tires were "re-sealed" by the michelin dealer.at that time, the tire pressure was checked and set to correct pressure (not sure if they were low at the time) as stated on my receipt.1 week later, all tires are down at least 8 psi- 2 are down 12 psi.

I have had three tire bolow outs on my mercedes-benz, in identical situations, approximately 2 months apart. All three incidents happened on three different highways, at speeds approximating 60 mph, and after approximately three hours of driving. The first incident occurred in april 2004, on i-95 in new haven. The second occurred in july 2004 on i-95 in delaware. The third occurred on september 7, 2004 in canada on highway 401 in kingston.these were the only occasions when i had driven in similar situations. Ie: for more than 3 hours on a highway at speeds of over 55 mph, during this year. On all other occasions the trips were shorter than 3 hours.the wheels are different at each occasion. The first was passenger side front. The second was driver side rear, and the thired was driver side front.on each occasion, after returning home i have taken the car to the mercedes dealership in poughkeepsie, and they have assured me that there is nothing wrong with the car. I then contacted michelin tires, and they have assured me that there are no reported incidents similar to mine.the first two tires were discared. The third was inspected by sears auto center. There are no holes found. The tires according to sears had come off the rim.the tires involved belong to a set of 4 that i bought from tire-rack, and mounted by mercedes dealership in 2002.since the first incident, i have diligently checked tire pressures weekly, in addition to visually inspecting the tires before driving.this cannot be a coincidence.i am now afraid to drive this car. Please investigate this matter as soon as possible.

I purchased a honda accord new in 2002 recently i noticed that the two front tires had developed bulges (bubbles), on the surface of the sidewall measuring approximately 2 inches on the drivers side and 1 inch on the passenger's side of the vehicle. The tires have 17,000 miles of use.out of concern for my safety, as well as that of my fellow motorists, i did some research online at http://www. Consumeraffairs.com/tires/michelin.html and found that an alarming number of motorists using this brand of tire were experiencing the same type of sidewall problem some attributing the sidewall bulging as causing catastrophic failure of their tires. In each case (as in my own) the owner of the tire is left with no recourse as to replacement or at minimum safety bulletin warning of the possibility of sidewall failures occuring with this brand of tire.the model and size information of the tire on my car is michelin mxv4 plus xse 205/60r16.

Two separate tire failures from same brand/type of original equipment tires, first: january 22, 2003, second: april 28, 2003 both were sidewall blowouts.the first, on the right front wheel in january 2001, did not pose a safety hazard as it occurred while the car was parked in a garage.however, the 2nd, only three months after the first, occurred on a different wheel (right rear) at 60 mph in the middle lane of a congested portion of i-95 near milford, ct.the latter clearly posed a very serious safety hazard to us, and to all other vehicles on this heavily-trafficked interstate. I did not report the first blowout, believing that perhaps i had hit something on the road.but the second blowout of same brand/vintage tire, this time on rear right side, indicates a likely safety defect in this expensive michelin tire. *nlm

The tire valve on my right rear tire failed while the car was garaged.this was the second valve failure in a pair of tires installed on 04/27/2007.the first valve failed (on the other tire in the pair) on 04/26/2009 while the car was also parked, but about 30 miles from home (see odi number 10279930).

I own a 2007 lincoln mkz with michelin energy mxv4 tires dot number b90a nnhx 0207 which are original equipment on the vehicle.during normal operation in the last 6 months i have experienced valve stem failures on 3 of the 4 original tires leading to a severe air leak and in two instances damage to the sidewall of the tire.in each case the damage was repaired by replacing the tire and/or valve stem at a lincoln dealership.the dealer, ford motor company, and michelin refuse to acknowledge that there is a problem.

Three of the original michelin energy mxv4 tires on my 2007 mazda 6 have failed to maintain proper air pressure.two of the tires had defective valve stems and the third tire lost air pressure while i was driving on the freeway and needed to be replaced altogether.these three tire incidents all occurred between 5/29/09 and 7/23/09.

While at a destination about 30 miles from home, my left-front tire valve failed just as i was about to enter the parked car to head home.the air whooshed loudly out of the tire as i watched it deflate before my eyes.i called aaa for assistance in changing the tire and took the flat tire to my dealer the following day for replacement of the defective tire valve.the valve was installed as part of a new-tire installation on 04/24/2007 by my ford dealer.

2005 chrysler pacifica touring with 36,200 miles has original equipment tires that have an air lose from the front tires of over 5 pounds each week of air pressure.cause is believed to be corrosion of the wheels resulting from electrolysis due to contact from the chrome wheel covers.this much air lose could result in a driving hazard if tires are not checked weekly.it will also shorten the tire life.
