While i was driving my 1999 oldsmobile bravada felt like a tire had gone flat.. After noticing the problem i went to pull over and the entire suv pulled to the right almost hitting a parked boat. When i exited the vehicle i noticed the passangers side tire was sideways.. Half underneath the truck. I checked with the dealership who i bought the truck from and there not willing to help for free as i dont have a warranty.. Even though this is the second problem ive had with the vehicle since i bought it 8 months prior. I checked with a mechanic and they said the axle was broken and the bearings and ball joints could be busted. Lucky for me i wasn't on the highway where i had been 20 minuites prior and heading back to.

The front suspension/braking/tires system's under perform during slippery road conditions. On three seperate occasions my vehicle has sustained damage in excess of $1,000 per event for the vehicles' under performance based on the "optional" traction control" pefrormance specifications supplied by the manufacturer for typical turning conditions under slippery road conditions.

Michelinis aware that old, unsafe michelin tires outside manufacturer's safety guidelines are being placed on vehicles by their authorized tire dealerships yet claims that they are not "legally culpable" and can do nothing about this practice or the resultant deaths and injuries sustained by end users.my situation is as follows:while driving 70 mph my right rear tire blew out almost slamming me into another car and guard rail.subsequently i learned that the "new" michelin symmetry tires i had purchased at an authorized michelin dealership 2-1/2 years ago were five years old when they were placed on my car according to the d.o.t. Date on them.moreover the old michelin symmetry tires that were placed on my vehicle were not "h" or "v" rated for safety as ford/lincoln manufacturer specifies.i called michelin and talked with multiple individuals including their u.s. Manager ofconsumer relations.she admitted that michelin is aware that unscrupulous michelin dealerships sell old, outdated tires and tires not properly safety rated for vehicles but claims that there is "absolutely nothing" that michelin can do about this practice.apparently michelin believes there is an "acceptable" number of consumer deaths and injuries that will occur yearly from faulty, defective michelin tires.michelin disclaims any responsibility for safety breaches at their dealerships, preferring to meet sales goals and net profit margins, looking the other way and winking at fraud and dangerous practices by their dealerships, and hiding behind "legalities" to shield them from ultimate responsibility.i believe that the rico statute clearly applies to them and should vigorously be pursued.michelinknows that unsafe practices are constantly occurring, but chooses to do nothing to stop the injuries or the deaths or to sanction or police their dealerships.how many more deaths and injuries will occur if nothing is done?????

During a four month period, i experienced 3 flat tires, including 2 blowouts, using dill tr-413 valve stems. Tire failure resulted from valve stem failure according to tire dealer. All three failures occurred at highway speeds, resulting in body damage to the vehicle.

I have been complaining for the last 2 yearsto toyota about my 2002 sienna regarding steering wheel vibration while driving on the highway. They have checked the car and told me they found nothing. The car is dangerous to drive at high speeds.

Honda odyssey 2004 stops all of sudden on the red light. The car starts but when shift to d it stops. The mileage of the car is 72000.00. I have maintain the car properly and never miss any appointment. I call honda because on the internet it was showing that there was a recall of 2004 but when honda customer service has asked my car vin number they have told there is no recall on this car. The cost of the repair is almost 3500. Please help.....!

Front passenger side tireproduced abubble. However, the second and third tiresproduced the same bubbles.*la

While driving 60 mph, the rear driver's tire experienced a blow out.

Left rear tire completely separated at the sidewalls , leaving 2 rubber rings at each side of the rim, 3 inch wide. Car was going 65 mph with no load, except driver. No prior problems or visible cracking. Air pressure was checked before trip and found in compliance with car spec.

Interstate highway clear, dry road conditions in light traffic conditions.vehicle becomes unstable, begins to swerve. Attempts to control & correct have no effect. Vehicle's front left impacts center "jersey barrier" sending the car into a counter-clockwise spin against the "jersey barrier". Ny wife suffered spinal fractures, broken nose, bruised ribs.......1 week hospitalization and 3 weeks rehabilitatve therapy.injury to her spine is permanent. State police indicated at least one front tire blew-out causing the accident. None of the air bags deployed.vehicle purchased new in october 2001.

Purchased 4 tires from costco, greensboro,nc on 7/18/07. All 4 valve stems have failed. One on 5/18/08 and three on 8/02/08.

Driving down road. All of a sudden, the inner side wall of the michelin premier ltxtire blew out in two places. They were both rectangular blowouts coming from the center of the tire.

I purchased a set of 4 michelin defender xt tires for my 2011 prius ii from costco on 11/29/2013. The tires are marketed by michelin as llr (low rolling resistance) tires. However upon installing them and operating the vehicle for nearly 1000 miles, i found the mpg to be nearly 10 mpg. Less than the oem tires that these replaced.the rolling resistance of these tires are high. Vehicle almost feels like being driven over sand. As soon as i take my foot off the accelerator, the vehicle decelerates rapidly, much faster than the oem tires. I checked the tire pressure, alignment, and wheel bearings, all are within specs. It appears to me that the hysteresis losses in this tire material are fairly high. This tire should not be sold as a low rolling resistance tire. It is being falsely advertised as having this capability to increase sales. The mpg difference was measured by calculating the true miles from my gps unit and dividing the result by the gallons to full at the same pump. This was done three times to accurately access the true mpg difference. No other factors on the vehicle has been changed. Only change has been replacement of the tires.

On three seperate occasions my vehicle has sustained damage in excess of $1,000 per event for the vehicles' under performance based on the "optional" traction control" pefrormance specifications supplied by the manufacturer for typical turning conditions under slippery road conditions.

We had two incidents of tire blow outs in 4 months the last one occurring on oct 12, 2008. The cause of both blow outs was the tire stem but we did not hear about the recall until i heard it on the news today. We have since bought new tires afraid that it would happen again but what can we do now?i feel like we should be compensated but how? the ford dealer we bought the tires from is out of business so we could not go there when we realized that it was a tire stem problem and without knowing there was a recall we had no option but to go somewhere else which was american tire. We went to american tire both times it happened for them to fix the tires and they did not mention a recall either. The tires were not old enough to be replaced but for our own safety we did that. I guess i know there is nothing you can do but just wanted to get some advise of what to do, if anything.thanks, pattyp.s. No crash, no deaths, thank goodness

The contact owns a 2010 ford fusion equipped with michelin hydro-edge tires, size 215/60/r16. The dot number was apxn4xx0110. The contact stated that the sidewalls of all four tires were cracked. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for routine maintenance when the failure was diagnosed.the manufacturer was notified and the contact was awiating a reply. The failure mileage on the tires was 17,000. The failure mileage of the vehicle was 35,100. The vin was unavailable.updated 7/23/12 michelin refused to adjust the defective tires under workmanship and material warranty.they referred to defect as cosmetic cracking

Michelin hydro edgedot b9odhaexradial xse215/65 r16 98tsold by sears, installed by sears, like new tire exploded nearly causing an accident.they say it was either of two reasons a nail or tire sensor was loose.there was no nail in tire. I called them on it and took pictures so they are now blaming the sensor.they can't keep their story straight.they installed the tires and they refuse to accept replacement responsibility for the tire and expect me to pay 130.00 to replace it.they say i must have refused 60.00 charge for sensor adjustment even though when i took my car to them i had the vehicle aligned and bought top of the line tires.why would i refuse a 60.00 charge to adjust sensors if by not doing so could make the tires explode?i have done nothing wrong. These tires were extremely well maintained because i am a bounty hunter and travelacross the country capturing fugitives. I check the air on my tires in different weather conditions and in different altitudes.my tires are my legs, i explained this to them.the last thing i need is to be stranded in the az desert with a flat.i have been without my van for two days unable to work because sears, northridge, cais trying to decide who is responsible for this.it's not me.i would also like to know why sears does not think it's their job to explain to people that not having the sensors adjusted can cause death or injury.their excuse was only that they couldn't force people to buy the 60.00 service when i asked them why they don't tell people.i also asked them how many people do they think know that not adjusting the tire sensors can cause them to explode they replied very few.they know it's dangerous but they don't care?something is extremely wrong here.i couldn't find any info on the receipt about the sensor adjustment but i also couldn't find what kind of tire i bought on the receipt either.i had to check on the vehicle.

While driving my 2002 olds bravada the left rear tire blew out. The tire was a michelin 255/60r17. There was no objects in the tire or on the road.

In 2007, based on recommendations from service technicians and other owners of my car's model, i purchased new michelin hydroedge tires.upon recent inspection and rotation at a service center, it was noted that all four of my tires were dry-rotting at the sidewall near the treads.the technician stated that "michelins do that."the tires are 4 1/2 years old, have been driven 23,000 miles with very little tread wear (9/32" left) and are not housed inside a garage where ozone could affect them.i drive 10 miles round trip each work day.i also do not live in an urban area. I researched this issue online and found many similar complaints of dry rot leading to blowouts, often with related accidents.in many instances michelin denied any responsibility and sited everything from environmental reactions to pothole and curb hits by drivers sometimes denying a claim before receiving the customer's documentation.there are too many complaints to ignore anymore.just because many of us have found the problem before the tires caused an accident doesn't mean this is not serious.how many occurrences does the nhtsa need before it acts proactively to end this safety risk? i hope this complaint speaks for consumers who filed previously, others who have not filed and for those who do not know they are at risk.please do not wait until a high-profile fiery crash brings light to this issue (as seems too often to be the case in our society.)michelin has had a few major tire recalls, one just recently, so there is probable cause to investigate the dry rot complaints.investigate now so we can all benefit from the nhtsa, an entity that is and will continue to be accountable for the safety of all taxpayers.thank you.

Tire failure at low mileage. Tires not passing safety inspection after appx 20,000 use. Tread down to 4//32. Tires purchased at costco . Line is michelin premier a/s . Multi visits to costco to inspect after two independent tire inspectors stated they would not pass safety inspection with wear bares close to tread suface. Costco refused to call failure stating that is normal for this type of tires. The rating was at least 60.000 miles. There was a recent road hazard that punctured front tire and costco wanted to charge for new front tire.very unstatisfied with tires, frequent slipping and loss of traction on snow and rain. Unsafe.

(1-3) vehicle delivered with one tire at 40#, others varied 20-30 #. They continue to lose air pressure, ie 3-5 pounds/ month. No accidents but am concerned. Talked with both ford selling dealer and michelin tire dealer. Were rotated at 6000 mi. My leased car from varsity lincoln mercury is six weeks old, mkz 2011. Part of the price negotiation was that the tires would be included if they failed.tires are not usually included but my salesperson kept strong-arming me to "insure the tires" and this was a red flag so i kept refusing and suggested i would go elsewhere. On friday, dec. 10,2011, i came out from the grocery and my tire was flat. I called my salesperson who laughed and said i was unlucky.she gave me a number to call for road repair.within 40 minutes he arrived andhad my spare on.he said no nail, and it could be repaired..for sure.but, the next morning at the dealership, i was told i needed a new tire and if it was him, he would insure the tires. $338.45 later i left!!was it because i am an elderly woman?what happened to their promises??i called my salesperson who said reminded me that i was paying 200 dollars less on my lease monthly with them than with my acura.? she also said that the she checked and the tire was slashed!!!!!! no way!!!! my salesperson said the 338.45 included ninety dollars for insurance on the tires . The salesperson also reminded me that from construction there was debris on the road.her tire had a similar problem the week before.i thought tires www made for reasonable wear on roads.

My 2004 envoy after driving it for a year with no long road trips the tires had worn unevenly and two were almost bald.this is a short time for tires and they were rotated when need.the warranty covered replacing the tires and now it has been another year or so and they have do the same thing.gmc does not want to replace them again, they say it is normal wear.so my question is how many people replace their tires every year?

I have experienced 3 tire blowouts within 1 year with my michelin tires.i own a 2002 honda accord with only 19,000 miles & cannot believe that i have had to incur the cost of replacing 3 out of 4 brand new tires within a 1-year period.the first incident was nov. 2002, the 2nd on oct. 2, 2003 & the 3rd on oct. 9, 2003.it appears that these tires are not manufactured up to normal safety standards since they have caused 3 blowouts from usualroad hazard conditions.michelin claims the blowouts are not covered under the warranty since the damage was due to a road hazard.why are these high-profile & very expensive tires not manufactured to perform under normal road hazard conditions?these blowouts could have caused serious injury to my and/or others if i had been traveling at a high rate of speed and/or on a major highway.luckily, all 3 incidents occured on local roads & i was able to pull off the road safely and call emergency road service for help.i firmly believe that michelin should be willing to reimburse me for the cost of replacing the tires, having them balanced and for the distress and anxiety i had to indure during these incidents.*la

On 11-12-08 i parked my 20007 ford fusion in the garage at 7:00 pm . On the morning of 11-13 08 at 6;00 am the front right tire was flat. I changed the tire and took it to the ford dealer for repair. They found that the valve stem was defective and replaced same. I feel this should not have happened as the tires were properly inflated. When i inquired if this was covered by warranty, i was told it wasn't. The vehicle is still under warranty.

I purchased a 2012 jeep grand cherokee laredo in august of 2013.the oem tires on the vehicle were michelin p265/60r18 all season tires which were manufactured during the 26th week of 2011.i replaced all four tires in june 2015, even though i still had 5/32 to 6/32 of tread depth, because the tires were dry rotting and the seam where the tread attaches to the sidewall was leaking air.the tires could not be repaired.

Dt:this was a5th wheele.the consumer took a 4000 mile trip andthe front passenger and rear passenger tires blew out.the tire in the middle looked like it was about to blow out.this happened on july 11, 2005 for the rear and on august 2, 2005 the front one . Contacted the dealer and they were inspectingthe 5th wheele. Theytook off the axle and put onnew hangers. Someone put the wrong hangers that weretoo short on both sides.contacted tire manufacturer and they did replace first one, the consumerkept the second tire because keystone wanted to see it. They were replacing all 7 tires with a different brands.

Tire failure (blow out) caused by defective tire..

My michelin cross terrain tire blew out at the sidewall.it was a clear sunny day, 30 mph, on a smooth highway.i check my tire pressure regularly so i know the tire was properly inflated.i contacted michelin and they referred me to melody lakes tire and auto.my wife called and the receptionist told her it wouldn't do any good to come in but she could.the receptionist told my wife the problem was "heat infraction?" and it was not covered.it is incredible to me a receptionist, over the phone, can diagnose tire problems.michelin, nor the dealer had any intentions to determine why a blowout occurred, let alone try to fix it.i will forward this complaint to the nhtsa and hopefully you will have to listen to them.i have 4 more of those defective tires which i have no idea when they will blow!!updated 02-01-08.

Left rear tire completely separated at the sidewalls , leaving 2 rubber rings at each side of the rim, 3 inch wide. Car was going 65 mph with no load, except driver. No prior problems or visible cracking. Air pressure was checked before trip and found in compliance with car spec.

I had two incidents of tire failure on the highway where the tires just came apart at speeds of 70 mph. The first tire had about 40k miles on it and the 2nd tire had 50k miles on it.i had a close call, but no accident.

Tire failure. Tire tread peeled off of new michelin.

Three of four michelin tires experienced tread separation, resulting in erratic and dangerous behaviour of the vehicle, a 1999 toyota camry. Tires were purchased in december 2001 from sears, who only would pro-rate the tires. The dot #s for two of the tires are 2xj9 dmx 2001 and 2xj9 dmx 1901. I did not retain the dot number from the first tire that failed, as i thought that it was an isolated incident. However, three of four tires failed, indicating that there is a manufacturing problem/defect. Luckily, the separations were detected before any obvious damage was caused and before any blowouts occurred. They did, however, result in dangerous behavior of the car, especially on wet or snowy roads.the camry was used as a family vehicle and did not experience any unusual use. Tires were inflated properly and checked periodically. The first tire failed in approximately april 2003, the second in may 2003, and the third in july 2003. Fourth tire showed no obvious signs of failure, but was replaced anyway.

Voids and peeling of tread on all four tires. It appeared as if there were large air bubbles trapped in the tread at manufacturing. This was noticed after having only 30,000 miles on tires. Had to replace with all new tires due to mfg. Defect. Michelinonly allowed 50% toward new tires. I was fortunate not to have been killed while driving with these tires.this has really emotionally upset me considering i had just driven from fl to nh with them.

Repair (nail) of left front tire at about 2000 mi by michelin dealer.tires: michelin p215/60hr 16, touring contact as. Vehicle 2003 ford taurus station wagon new 10/ 2003.

Unsafe.

Total tire tread separation less than 2 months after purchase

While driving, the front passenger side tire experienced tread separation, which caused severe damage to the front end. Please provide additional information.

Michelin mx4 all season av 1018 06-55667-0 215/65r16tire tread separation on highway in fl.

During a four month period, i experienced 3 flat tires, including 2 blowouts, using dill tr-413 valve stems. Tire failure resulted from valve stem failure according to tire dealer. All three failures occurred at highway speeds, resulting in body damage to the vehicle.

This is to report the second high speed blow out on a set of michelin tires that was caused by a defective valve stem.the tire was returned to sam's club, under their road hazard warranty, where they determined that the valve stem was the cause of the problem.this is the second occurrence in less that six months on the same set of tires.i was told that the valve stems are supposed to be replaced with each new tire.they did not replace the remaining two stems nor did they alert anyone to the possibility of a problem.in both incidents, i was able to avoid a crash but someone else might not be so lucky.*la

Drove to work, about 30 miles, and by the time i got here the two right tires on my vehicle were flat.this is the second time in 4 months that this has happened.had vehicle towed to shop, where i was informed that there had been a report of defective valves.all four tires had the defective valve stems.had them replaced.had to pay a pro-rated cost both times on a tire that had to be replaced.

Purchased 4 tires from costco, greensboro,nc on 7/18/07. All 4 valve stems have failed. One on 5/18/08 and three on 8/02/08.

The aluminum wheel caused the seal to breakbetween the rim and tire which resulted in all four tires losing airpressure.
