Consumer states that the tires on the vehicle are causing the steering on the vehicle to shift from side to side. Replacement tires, 180 miles, mounted on a honda goldwing 2001
Purchased tires in july 6th 2007@"motor cycle super store .com" had them mounted at all american harley davidson hughesville md july 23rd 2007. The tires had less than 200 miles on them.sept 2nd riding on us 1 north to pa.traveling 50 mph,in sunny dry weather at about 75 degrees, no traffic , no construction onroad, our rear tire blew out. Causing us to lose control hit guard rail and injuries to both driver and passenger. Driver had tbi, 8 broken ribs # 3- 10, punctured lung, broken collar and shoulder blade bones on right side, coma and hospital stay of 5 weeks and continued medical care and surgeries.the passenger received 5 broken ribs and shattered collar bone on right side and a broken left thumb. Bone graph surgery may be needed to repair collar bone. There was approximately 8,000. In damage to the bike. 300,000 to driver and 50,000 in medical expenses to the passengers that health insurance paid out. So far.
Have had two failures on metzeler 140/90 b16 mc 77h (75r005601) motorcycle tires.the tread cracks and separates from the core of the tire with less than 3,000 miles and no impact damage to tires.dot xe48 a415 1306 (mgf 13thweek of 2006). Mounted new by dealer 10/12/2006.metzeler claims the tires are failing if under inflated by 5 lbs or less.i kept a maint log of weekly air pressures, the tire slowly starts loosing air each week until the tread separates on the final week before failure (lost 10 lbs of air sunday to sunday the week before it failed. These tires will fail at highway speed and cause the motorcycle to crash when the tread cracks and flies off.
The tread pattern on my metzler rear tire(size 210-40-18) on my new yamaha raider motorcycle is backwards. This is extremely important with motorcycle tires for water dispersion and the way the tire carcass is made to go only one direction. All yamaha raider motorcycles are being delivered to dealers with this problem. This is the first year of production for this bike and sooner or later a tire will come apart and kill some one.
Me330 tire tread is separating at seam. The dealer explained to me that the first tire that this happened to experience a severe impact and that's why it separated. This is the second tire that this happened to and i don't recall hitting anything. I'll be having the tire replaced and will retain the old tire.
