On 10/06/2006 my daughter was driving her 1999 ford explorer on i-35 at approx 70 mph when her right rear tire blew out. On 10/19/2006 she was driving on the same stretch of road and her left rear tire blew out. Both tires were goodyear wrangler ht with approx 21k miles on them and were inflated to 35 psi. She was extrememly fortunate in both cases and did not roll the suv however, she did total the suv.

On 10/06/2006 my daughter was driving her 1999 ford explorer on i-35 north of waco, tx when her right rear tire blew out. It was a goodyear wrangler ht. The tire was replaced the next day in dallas by a dealer. This is related to complaint # 10171809.

I have a 2002 e350 ford ext sd van that camewith oem goodyear wrangler ht lre 245/75r/16 tires. The veh was obtained new in june 2002. Since new the tires sidewalls were cracked and dry, after driving on them a while the sidewalls had minor bulges, and more cracks. The tires were rotated/bal/and proper psi at all times and were never overloaded. The tires were replaced with michelin ltx/ms at 33k miles. These tires should have been replaced under a "safety improvement campaign" by goodyear at their expense (nhtsa campaign id nr 02x001000 dtd 28 jan 2002). I wasnot notified and the "campaign" expired, leaving me to replace the tires at my expense. By not notifing me goodyear saved a bundle but it left me in danger of a possible blowout/tread seperation or even a crash. When i did find out about the replacement campaign i went to my local goodyear dealer and all they offered was to sell me the same tire at an inflated price compared to sam's club or wal-mart. Needless to say i will not be shopping for goodyear tires in the future.

While driving at 75 mph high speed, the right tire experienced a blow out.*mr. The consumer stated the tires were replacement tires.

Goodyear, wrangler ht, p255/65r16, dot nefu, original equipment on a 2000 land rover ,discovery with 27000 miles. While driving 50 mph right rear tire exploded, was totally shredded. No accident.

The tread came off one tire. (dot number: mkop1dovtiresize: lt21585r16)

Heard thumping and started to slow when tire blew and van became hard to control. Van pulled onto dirt shoulder (of two lane highway) and almost flipped.managed to get back onto road, slowed down and stopped. Changed tire. It was destroyed. The tread was separated, and the sidewall blown apart in several places on both sides. The rim was undamaged to my eye, and the bead near the rim was also undamaged. The tire shop removed the tire, looked for a cause of the blow out but could find none. The steel belts and tread were completely separated from carcass around 80% of circumference and partially around the rest.the "nylon" cords were exposed where ever the belts had separated and were shredded and probably caused the sudden tire failure with only a few minutes of thumping as a warning of impending failure.whole event probably took less than 2 minute. I have more of these tires in the car now.

Tire size lt235/85r16, load range e. Tires inflated to 80psi. Exterior temperature 78 degrees. Two failures within 400 miles. Tread delamination on 1st tire. Tread completely separated from base (doing damage to undercarriage of coach). This tire retained pressure, however. 2nd tire blow out within 5 miles of a cold start. Complete destruction of tire occurred with subsequent additional undercarriage damage to coach. Speed was 65mph in both cases. These tires are rated at 3042 lbs (at 80psi). Approximate actual load on tire(s): 2400lbs. Only experienced driver skill prevented loss of control (and the fact that that this was a 5th wheel and not a "bumper pull" coach). We susequently slowed our speed to 55mph with no further mishaps (for 1500 additional miles after the incidents). Please note that two tires (from the original four) remain on the coach and will be made available to you at your request for further testing. We feel that these tires had not been abused in any way and ought to have withstood a 65mph towing speed regardless of road temperature. The failures occurred in rhode island. I was pulling my 24' goosneck kiefer trailer with my 1997 v10 dodge just west of des moines.i hear a loud poping noise and puller over to the side.a large section of the tire the size of a bowling ball was gone off the tread and the side wall.i drove to indianola, ia and had downey tie service replace the tire.they threw the tire in the junk as i thought i had hit something.in october i was pulling my trailer in illinois and had a total tread separation.my fender was beat to hell, all of the wiring on the passengers side was totally destroyed.it took 2.5 hours to get the trailer repaired on the road side to get it to a town to replace the tires.i went to taylorville, il and had the balance of tires replaced at larry's service center. (217-824-9060).he stated he thought therewas a recall on goodyear wrangler ht tires but he is not a goodyear dealer.he put keely-springfield 10 ply tires on as i did not trust the goodyears as i had two total separations in 3 months.i have 4 of the 5 tires in my possession.i have notified goodyear and they want me to turn in the bad tires to them to see if they will honor my damage claim.i have not done this as i do not trust them.i figure they will get my tires and then turn my claim down. While towing my 2002 holiday rambler alumascape 5th wheel trailer i experienced two catastophic tire failures within the past 3 months.the trailer is a model 30rld with a dry weight of about 9600lbs.the tires are goodyear wrangler ht lt radials, size lt225/75r16, load range e.the dot information is: g18r dot mkil mmhv 16/01.they were the original tire that came equipped with my rv, and currently have approximately 8,000 miles on them.i religiously maintain 80psi in the tires.on august 5th, 2004, at 2000 miles on the tires, i experienced a total tread separation and immediate deflation on i 15 north of las vegas nv.the tread wrapped around the axle of the trailer, and the casing was totally destroyed.the air temperature was 105 degrees, and i was traveling at 65 mph.the second incident occurred on october 25, 2004 on i 40 west of needles, ca.the air temperature was 70 degrees.the tread came lose on the outer edge of the casing and i again experienced immediate deflation.on both occasions pieces of the tread significantly damaged the side of my trailer.i have not contacted the goodyear tire co.

Left rear tire blowout while traveling southbound on us hwy 550 at mile post 84 over red mountain pass.this is a particularly dangerous pass with steep drop offs and narrow, if any, shoulders.driver was able to find room on the right side of road to remove the blown out tire and mount the spare.had this blowout occurred on another stretch of the road, driver and truck would have gone over the edge. Asphault pavement was dry and ice-free at the time. Driver judges the blowout due to manufacturing defect: ply and tread separation.tire was oem provided with the new truck, not quite 2 years old, and otherwise ample tread life. Driver has photographs of the tire, and keeps the tire in his barn for inspection if required.

This started in 2007 with the purchase of goodyear wrangler tires.they have failed in 2009 (paid to replace), 2013, 2014.these tire are used on my2003chevrolet 2500 diesel pickup and we pull a 5th wheel.the tires continue to separate and the last incident was on march 6th, 2014.this has not resulted in an accident but it could.we were traveling to phoenix az from grapevine, tx when the rear driver side tire separated.we were in the middle of the desert between albuquerque nm and grants nm.the tire was installed on my vehicle in sep 2012 and had approximately 18000 miles.in august of 2013 i had to replace 3 more tires because of tread separation.goodyear will replace them for a price and it's starting to get very costly.they reimburse for about 20% of the cost of a tire.i will buy new tires but not goodyear.they are dangerous.

On aug. 8, 2017 i was driving a level 2 lane secluded asphalt road in my 1998 dodge camper van. The van is dodge 3500 extended model, modified by sportsmobile into a camper van in 1999.at a speed of about 50 mph suddenly a loud noise occurred and piece of tire began to fly off. The tires has been recently rotated and pressure adjusted to about 80 psi by les schwab tires. We had been on a road trip so i checked tire inflation about every day. The tire tread had disintegrated and part of it had flown off but the tire was still inflated (and still is). About a quarter of the tread is gone. Fortunately there was no traffic and we were able to pull over and replace the tire. However under normal highway driving and especially if the tire had been in front i believe i would not have been able to maintain control and the van would likely rolled.

I had been driving on the high way for about 20 miles at 65 mph (the speed limit was 70 mph) when the left rear tire (goodyear wrangler at/slt285/75r16) exploded. It ripped the fuel filler neck off of the truck bent the rear bumper and bent the side of my truck in many places. These tires had more then half tread left on them and there is no reason this should have happened. I wasn't pulling a load or driving too fast. Fuel spilled out of the gas tank and could have caused a fire. These tires are unsafe to drive on if this type of think happens.

Tire tread separated from tire. Second wrangler ht tire to separate. Both instances caused damage to vehicle and occurred at interstate speeds.

While traveling north on i95 around mile marker 120, i had a blowout on a 5th wheel sunnybrook rv while in tow. The tire was a goodyear, 235/85/r16, wrangler ht, load range e, dot 0903. I purchased this sunnybrook on 4/10/2003 and the tire had less than 4,000 miles use at time of incident. The blowout was on the inside mounting of the wheel and the tire parted 360 degrees where the sidewall was affixed to the tread. Weather conditions were raining and appx. 60 degrees. All tires had just been checked for proper pressure 3 hours prior to this incident. There have been 4 other incidents with the 03 sunnybrook 5th wheel rvs using this same goodyear tire that are members of the club i am a member of. One of our members is in the process of compiling everyone's information to submit to sunnybrook and also to goodyear. I emailed goodyears consumer relations through their website to report this incident and a tony settimio, reference # 684381 stated that there have been no unusual problems with this subject tire. But yet, i go on the nhtsa website and there have been 44 hits since 2000.

On a trip to texas from oregon we had a blowout on rr of our 12000 lb fifth wheel trailer.had it replaced in austin thinking nothing of the incident. On the trip back i noticed two left side tires with bulge in sidewalls of both tires and severe wear pattern on outer edge of tire.inflated to 80 lbs, checked at most stops. 50 degrees, dry roads. 60 mph constant.went to goodyear dealer in tuscon az. And had these two plus the remaining (visually good one) replaced.these were wrangler ht 235/85 16s series e. About 20,000 on tires, age approx 4 years from date of trailer purchase.i sincerely believe the blowout was tire defect caused but didn't have it checked because of no prior problems.the dealer gave me 75% reduction on cost of new tires for the two showing defect.

Bulges found on 2 goodyear wrangler tires and crack between tread on 3rd tire.less than 30,000 miles on tires.tires with bulges replaced and 3rd tire used as spare.

Tread separation and sidewall failure, inside edge of tire next to rim.this is the final tire to fail prematurely of four.these tires were rated as 60,000 mile tires, this one failed at 54,532.tire 1 failed 5/10/05 at 40,838 mi with tread separation.tire 2 suffered tread separation and blowout east of hazleton, british columbia canada. This was on the right rear.the third tire also suffered tread separation at this time on the right front.this tire was on vehicle left front and is available for inspection at this time.

Tires have separatedfrom sidewall causinga blowout and loss of control.the of the four tire have failed. *nlm

Goodyear wrangler ht, tire235/85r16 with25000 miles, consumer noticed tread opened in center of tire, did not lose air, consumer replaced tire. Tire was replaced on a 1989, ford, f350 truck.

Failure of this tire caused a danger to the driver and to other vehicles on the road.tire tread was separated very badly. (tiresize: p235/75r15)( dot number:tire size: p235/75r15 )

The consumers vehicle was originally equipped with recall firestone wilderness tires which were replaced at 30k miles.the tires were replaced with goodyear wrangler ht tires.with 38k miles on the tire, the rear passenger side tire blew out while driving 75 mph. The consumer proceeded to change the tire when he noticed that the jack points were located where the tire had bunched up.once the consumer found a suitable jack point the jack did not adequately raise the vehicle. *mr *scc *nlm

Tire failures-goodyear wrangler ht.all 4 tires suffered tread separations within a 6 month period.

My complaint is on goodyear tires, wrangler ht 225/75r16 load range e. On april 3, 2005 i left a rv park in tyler. Tx and was traveling east on i-20 near the marshal. Tx exit when one of the above tires blew out.i proceeded up the 614 exit in order to get off the interstate for my safety on the busy interstate.i changed the tireand proceeded on to bossier city, la to find another tire. The dealer had the size tire needed and replaced the blown out tire.i informed the sales person that the tire had damaged my trailer.hegot a claim number (000427752} for me and told me that goodyear would send me forms to fill out to get reembursed for the cost of the new tire ($214.65) and the damage to my trailer, later determined to be $547.96.i traveled to tallulah, la and stoped for fuel and checked tires and found another tire about half inflated and could hear air coming from it, change tire. Imade it on to jackson, ms where i found a goodyear dealer and they adjusted the tire and charged me $32.50.they told me that the tread had seperated.when i returned home and picked up my mail at the post office i did have the packet to file a claim but i also had a registered letter from goodyear telling me that my claim had been denied even before i had a chance to file it.they claimed that they did not find any defectin the tire, they said it had been run flat.i sent goodyear the claim forms and a letter asking them to reconsider my claim.i did in fact run the tire flat after it blew out in order to get to a safe place to change the tire which only had cordsaround the tire and the beads around the wheel.goodyear said they would destroy the in 30 days if i did not request them to return it to me.several members of our travel club have had blow outs and tread seperations on this same make and size goodyear tire. Since this is a severe safety hazard to the traveling public i would ask that this tire be investigated.

Consumer noticed a 2 feet split intread, which exposed the tire construction,no air was lost ,tire replaced by firestone, could have resulted in a roll over, according to the berkshire eagle goodyear is conducting a silent recall on this tire. Local dealer says at is a worse problem for tread splits. (dot number: mdornjhvtiresize: lt23585r16)

Tire tread separated from tire. Second wrangler ht tire to separate. Both instances caused damage to vehicle and occurred at interstate speeds.
