2002 jeep wrangler collided with rear of passenger van at approximately 25 -35 mph.wheels braked and released on wet pavement.air bag did not deploy, driver seat belt did not hold.driver's face hit windshield, resulting in broken nose.front engine compartment was crushed.

Truck bounces out of control when hitting small and large bumps in the road.loss of steering control and very dangerous.also, truck pulls to the right constantly.i was told by the dealer in waterville maine, that this is normal for a 4x4.every time i bring it in for service, i complain, but i'm made to feel like it's all in my head.once they replaced the rack, and tried new tires, but it made no difference.under no circumstances can i release the steering wheel, and i'm hyperviglent of every approaching bump.other people who have driven my truck, with me with them experience the same "normal problems".i've had the truck for just over a year now, and the problems haven't gotten worse, but remain constant.i will never buy another dodge product, and i am very unhappy with the treatment from the dealer.if i wasn't to lose so much money, i would have traded it in 3 months after i bought it.as far as i am concerned, this truck is a lemon.for several months after i bought this truck, i polled every owner of the same truck, when it was convienent, and i received more simalar problems than not.

Problem no. 1:my 2004 jeep wrangler unlimited has had a steering and wheel vibration problem since i purchased it brand new it in july 2004 from parrish jeep in fairfax, va.the problem continues to get worst.the wheels and steering vibrate abruptly between 45 - 60 miles mph.i have to hold the steering wheel with 2 hands to attempt to safely drive my jeep.as of august 2004, i have taken it to 2 virginia jeep dealerships for the vibration problem on several occasions, in which the problem was witnessed and noted.although the problem was witnessed by the jeep dealership, i was told i had to provide proof of my vehicle services, which i did.parrish jeep has copies of all of them.after contacting jeep customer service, which just told me to continue to call the dealership, i was finally told in december 2005 by the dealership that i had to bring my jeep in to the dealership again for a jeep engineer to test drive and diagnose.the service manager informed me that he believed the tires to be faulty, but now they were concerned about the mileage on my jeep.i reminded him that the receipts show that i have complained of this problem when i initially brought the vehicle new in 2004.so, now i have been waiting over one month for a call to have the jeep engineer review the problem. This is my 3rd jeep that i have owned, in addition to the 2 that my family members have owned because of my recommendation, and i have never had this problem before.this may be my and my family members' last time to buy jeep products due to safety and lack of customer service.problem no. 2:the transmission jerks as i come to a stop.this jerking happens after i have driven the vehicle and it has warmed up.this problem was noted as of the summer 2005.i have taken it in to the same 2 va dealerships, but the problem has not been resolved.the computer was checked and i was told that all updates had been made.however, the jerking is still persisted.

2002 4x4 explorer limited with v8. At 7390 miles (3/12/03, invoice # w40836) two issues; the transmission never shifted properly and it started leaking fluid everywhere.two weeks later the dealer admitted they didn''t know the cause and replaced the transmission with a new one. Engine severely overheated (invoice 3w47852). At 20k miles the truck will once in a while stop (as if i hit something) as i start to back out of the garage - problem discovered at 31k brake job - rear shoes on parking brake broke loose on drivers side (both) and only one on passenger side. Loose shoe on pass. Side would wedge with good one and lock up wheels when moving slow. Lot's of arguments and ford finally replaced shoes (4/25/05 invoice # 99323). At 26k (11/05,no invoice) one tire went flat and upon inspection by a tire shop, that tire and a second tire had tread separation - running goodyear''s. Ford quickly replaced both tires without any questions. At 29k, my family and i moved from mi to ga. Each time i stopped for gas the explorer sounded like the front end was grinding metal to metal on the gears. The 4x4 was in auto for the trip and once i got back on the highway above 20 mph the noise went away.however, it continued to shift poorly and it started to surge (shake) or thump like something was catching in the drive train every time i would let off the gas pedal and allowed the truck to decelerate without braking. Even after new brakes and rotors, the problem got worse and worse - now at 34k, (5/30/05, invoice # w50821) the truck is in the dealership for the 3rd time on this issue. The first time, they replaced the "module-transfer sh" which did pretty much eliminate the shifting issue. They also replace the "drive shaft flange per ssm 16824" whatever that means. But a major problem in the drive train still exists and it still unresolved. Here's my point, ford has a major drive train problem with the redesigned 2002 explorer.

1998 dodge durango front upper ball joints wore out at 40000 miles, prematurely causing tires to also wear prematurely.i was told that bad ball joints could cause the suspension to break or a wheel to come off while driving causing a life threatening accident to my wife and children.

I nearly died as a result of a front, passenger tire that failed causing my vehicle to leave the roadway after i tried to correct after the blowout. I struck the end of an irrigation bridge and rolled my truck, breaking my neck, fracturing my skull and being hospitilized for seven weeks.i had a private engineer who is a consultant for goodyear look at the photographs of my tire and give a report that it was a failure due to running low on air.i had my tire pressure checked 1 day prior to the accident and have proof of that.i found two parts of the tire and the wheel recently and as the engineer said i would find melt nylon on the sidewall, i did find melted nylon.i have the two pieces of the tirein my possession. While driving on us highway 231 in alabama a good year tire (lt245/75r16e) treads separated and caused over $4,600.00 dollars damage to the left side of my dodge ram truck.the tires have been a problem since new and were oem equipment .they wouldn't stay in balance very long after being balanced.good year tire and rubber co. Has offered me $l89.00 for a new tire and $200.00 for the deductible insurance ipaid geico.i told good year that i wanted all four tires replaced because of the history of the tires.also, that if one tire could have tread separation any one of the other three tires could do the same thing and the next time more than the truck body would get damaged-humane body's mightget damaged.further more, $l89.50 they have offered me for a new tire will not buy a tire for my truck that is safe to drive on a highway.i have been quoted a price of $273.00 for the right tire[s] for my truck.i have been since june 21, 2008, trying to resolve this matter with good year to no avail.i have spent countless days traveling to tire company working with good year{four trips}, geico{one trip} and three trips to the body shop that repaired my truck.i lost the use of my truck for three weeks while it was being repaired.i know good year tire and rubber co. (the largest tire manufacture in the world} is not treating me fairly any way you look at it.

Found tire separation on 3 of 4 original tires.separation was located approx 1/2 from rim and approx 1.5 inches long.on two of the tires the separation was located on the outside and one had the separation located on the inside of the tire.this was the one that concerned me more than the others because most people don't look on the inside of thier tires.these seperations were all noticed when tires where being rotated and balanced.tires were shown to the local goodyear dealer who stated that they had never seen a tire seperate at that area of the tire and they would replace at a pro-rated price.i took the truck to the local ford dealer and the dealership replace all three tires at no cost. The truck is still under warranty.

A small nail hole was found in tire but not enough to cause this type of damage to tire. (dot number: m6hltiresize: 23575r15)

While traveling on i25 about 75 mph , had tire separation on goodyear wrangler at/s tires. Caused approximately $2900.00 damage to vehicle.

While driving 70 mph in a 1999, ford, e350 right rear tire had a blowout. Original equipment, tire size p245/75r16, dot# unavailable. Dealer andmanufacturer were not notified at this time. Feel free to provide any further information.

The contact owns a 2012 toyota tundra equipped with goodyear wrangler at tires, size: 255/70/18 (na). While driving various speeds, the tires wobbled and caused the vehicle to shake violently. The vehicle was taken to mavis discount tires, (located at 5332 w genesee st, camillus, ny 13031) where all four tires were re-balanced. The shop stated that they would contact goodyear, but they never did. The contact called the goodyear manufacturer and was informed to take the tires back to mavis. No further assistance was offered. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 13,769 and tire failure mileage was 1,000.

Original equipment on jeep, wrangler, 1998 with 23,000 miles , tire size p21575r15, dot# t301242grf72w; there is very bad coupling indriver's front tire causing vehicle to bounce, and vehicle leaving the groundpossibly flipping over. Also, left tire started coupling. Dealer claims tires needs to be rotated, but consumer red in owner's manual, page 145,not to rotate tires until problem wascorrected.

I recently purchased a 2003 chevy suburban equiped with factory installed wrangler at 265/70/17 tires.while towing a boat in a snow squall,i lost all traction on an overpass resulting in the loss of the boat, motor and trailer upside down in a ditch.fortunately the vehicle and we survived, but the $15,000 boat was a total loss.also while backing down a boat ramp that was slippery,we almost ended up in the river as we slid most of the way down the ramp.after i exited the vehicle,it slid another 5 feet only stopping when it hit the sand at the water's edge.after putting large stones behind the rear wheels,we were able to get the boat on the trailer, only to experience no traction at all even in four wheel drive while trying to get up the ramp.after much tire spinning we were finally able to inch our way up the ramp.we seemed to be only ones having this much traction problems as a few vehicles launched and retrieved boats after us with little difficulty.these tires make no sense on a vehicle that spends the majority of the time on the highway and not in a mud hole, the traction seems to disappear on wet or slippery surfaces.i had two sets of firestone steelflex tires on my previous suburban and never once had problems with traction like i do now.

Purchased 4 goodyear lt30570r16 tires at goodyear dealer in arcadia, fl to replace original equipment firestones to avoid tire problem.goodyear dealer assured us that larger tire would be adequate and safe for our needs even though we expressed concerns.continued with travels and in 6/2001 upon crossing the us/canada border on the dirt and gravel road known as 'the top of the world highway' going 25mph towing a 5th wheel the left rear tire split in two crossways.i had to dig a hole in the road and with the help of a friend managed to get the tire changed.this was a very dangerous situation as there was a 1,000 ft drop off of a very narrow road with additional motor vehicles passing due to the us custom's station having just opened for the day.returned tire to goodyear dealer in fairbanks, ak on 6/26/01.goodyear replaced the damaged tire and we were forced to purchase a second tire , $243, to have matching tires on the rear of the vehicle. (lt305/70r16 wrangler mtr).second incident in colorado heading north on i-70, 2 miles from the colorado city exit.traveling at 60mph down a very steep winding portion of the highway the tire began thumping and the tread separated, but the tire remained inflated.managed to pull off the side of the highway and was able to change tire.again, a very dangerous situation at sunset with semis coming around the downhill curve at 75mph.with god's grace we were on a very wide portion of pull off and managed to get the tire changed without incident.the truck sustained damage to the right front fender and door estimated at $1,300.i feel very angry that i have had to endure 2 incidences such as this.there are many reports of this same occurrance with the wrangler tires.i feel that i am just a part of a 'calculated risk' by goodyear.i now have another wrangler at/s tire that is bulging.i am told that i must replace.dt

Front right tire separated at 65mph almost causing a major accident and possible death. Dealer was notified at 2,410 mileage about front end vibration/shimmy. No cause found. Vibration in front end reported numerous times to dealer without problem being found since it continued. Was told "normal ride" for truck. Truck experienced numerous problems with front end suspension, rattles in dash from vibration, steering column excessive play etc, etc, etc. Remaining tires show signs of bluging and cracking. Tire was defective from begining in my opinion and put me at risk! dealer rebalanced/rotated tires many times and simply concluded the vibration/shimmy was normal for truck and stated i might have a better ride when loaded. Goodyear wrangler tire failure. I have 235/17/70 tires on my f150. The sidewalls are peeling, revealing white... I have had two sidewall failures resulting in highway blowouts. The remaining two tires appear to be destined for the same fate. Additionally, the tread is showing premature wear. I will be replacing the tires with another brand.

The consumer states the air continues to seeps out of the front tires. The cause has yet to be determined. Please provide additional information.

On may22 a tire separated. Goodyear was notified,an other failed on october 3.tire was adjusted at goodyear dealer.october 22, the tire separated on the freeway at night.the tred separated and flew into the highway.we were traveling with 2 small children, a young mother, and 2 senior citizens, plus a very valuable junior rodeo horse.a friend came by and helped us get off the highway.goodyear was notified on september 7, 2000 that these tires were malfunctioning, and did not disclose to us that this was a common occurrence.they were told that we haul. Horses and children, and chose to keep it a secret. These childrenhave suffered a terrible trauma being out on the freeway with this tire failing and causing a terrible noise when it hit the fender, causing damageto it. This is a very scary thing.goodyear advertises that their tires are safe for families. Not true. (tiresize: 245/75r16)( dot number:tire size: 245/75r16 )

- the contactowns a 2000 jeep wrangler sport.the contact was driving across the golden gate bridge when the vehicle started pulling to the right towards the rail, andat the end of the bridge the vehicle then pulled again to the right quickly and sharply. The tire blew out, she had no control of the vehicleanditflipped over2 or 3 times and landed on the tires. It did not hit another vehicle oranother vehicle hit the contact's vehicle.the weather was nice that day, and the contact was driving at50-60 mph.the tread quality on the tire was good.the contact was able to get pictures of the tire. The contact didnot know if there was a police reportbecause there was nocollisionwith another vehicle.

Right front tire suddenly and instantaneously lost all air pressure while driving interstate 95 north in md approaching de border.i quickly lost steering and braking control, and was nearly struck by a tractor trailor at full speed.luck alone got my wife and i to the side of the road without being involved in an accident.i have made initial contacts with the car dealership, and with a goodyear tire and rubber service center (reisterstown, md).both the dealership and the goodyear service center displayed reluctance to replace my tire at no charge.i don't believe i can get an honest evaluation of my blown tire, as they are both financially biased. (tiresize: p225/75r15)( dot number:tire size: p225/75r15 )

Noted that front tires have spotty wear on outer edges, of two or so inches about every few inches. Wear more predominant on outer edges than ineer edges. Is this a frequently reported problem? what is cause? my service provider says vehicle has "tight" front end, and steers and handles well. (tiresize: lt2357516)

While driving 65 mph rear driver side tire blew out.consumer managed to pull over to change the tire.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. Goodyear, wrangler at, 285/75r16, dot#pjyuj3h2700.

We have had 2 separate side wall failures on the front tires. The first was in less than 10,000 miles and the second was on a new tire in less than 5,000 miles on a new replacement. Neither failure showed any evidence of rim damage or other external event. We are caught between audi and goodyear each of which want us to call the other party. This appears to be a systemic problem related to the audi tt tire recall.dt

While driving down highway the left rear goodyear wrangler at/s lt315/70r16 tread separated from the tirelaunching my 2002 ford f250 superduty truck across two lanes of traffic and causing considerable damage to my truck. The left side of the bed was totally destoyed and the left rear door was damaged along with the tailgate and fender. The tires were rotated and balanced not five weeks prior to incident.

Our first blow out came about 3 weeks after purchase of our new dodge ram van.after returning to a goodyear dealer, they replaced the one tire.since that date up until july 1999, i had 11 failed tires.either blow outs or flats.after many phone calls to the dealer mark thomas motors, chrysler, mark iii conversion, goodyear (this process took about 4 months), they agreed maybe my tires had a problem.they agreed to pay 200.00 towards a 500.00 bill to replace the tires.i had no choice since i really wanted to drive my new van. They said the tires may have been to light to be put on the heavy duty van.i have since had problems with the replacements, also goodyear wranglers.these were to be for heavy duty wear.they are far from wearing well.i have had other problems with this vehicle, but none as serious as the tire problem.my biggest concern is i was told by all agencies that it was not their problem when i first reported this original tire problem.it took everything i had along with a final threat to call my attorney before i got any assistance.after the firestoneproblem..i am very concerned and want to bring this problem out to the public..my children, their friends, my husband and my life are very important to me.to bad goodyear does not feel the same.i have been in contact with my dealer again as of today 112100.thank you for your time and obvious concerns in this matter.karen baca.( dot number:)

I have a 2004 f150 4x4 reg. Cab 4x4 pick up truck. It has goodyear wrangler tires on it. Lt275/65 18c wrangler at/s. They keep cupping. I am now on my 5th set of tires. Ford wants to and did at one time put on p275/65 18 on the truck. I was against this dropping to a p metric tire. They now reinstalled the light truck tires again at my request. Ford stated that they know they have a problem with these tires. My biggest concern is that they are dropping to a p metric from a light truck. The cupping is also a safety concern with not getting good contact with the road. I will give you the fist date this happened. The first time i only had 181 miles on my truck.

The wrangler at/d2 i purchased yesterday at sams club may have a factory defect. I bought a pair of lt265/75/r16. It already had this size of tires when i bought the vehicle used 7 years ago. The technician at the store said he was not allowed to install them because my suv should have 265/70/16 tires. I have never had this problem before. I purchased a pair of 265/75/r16 at discount tires a year ago without any problem. So, i purchased this pair of tires at sams, anyway, and had them installed this morning at a local tire shop. The tires were mounted and balanced and i drove out of the shop and headed to work on the freeway. I was on the freeway for only 2 miles, at 60mph, when a heard a hissing noise and the suv pulled to one side. I managed to pulled out of the freeway and one of my new tires was flat. I inspected the tire and there were no nails, screws or holes on the thread. However, i noticed that there is a litle defect on the thread pattern and what appears to be a hole, or a chunk of rubber missing, right next to this pattern defect where the thread ends and sidewall begins. The rest of the tire looks to be radially symmetrical as is the other tire entirely. Could you please help me with my problem? i purchased goodyear tire precisely because its quality reputation. Now, the technician at sams who sold me the tires says that he cannot help me and the owner of the local tire shop(sahuayo tires, lynwood, ca, 310-638-7077) would probably deny any installation workmanship defects. I am taking the suv back to the tire shop tomorrow to see exactly what the problem is. I am going to ask them to dismount the tire and take a closer look from the inside. But, if the tire is ruined and is determined to be because of this suspected factory defect, then i would appreciate very much your help to resolve this situation. I am certain that i didn't run over any debris on the road and i should be entitle to some kind of basic factory warranty. I hope to hear from you soon.

Goodyear, lt24575r16, wrangler a/t, serial #270904grf72w, tire seperatedthe tread and then exploded while it was in the spare tire carrier under my 1988 chevy c3500. This was a mate to another wrangler a/t, purchased at the same time, that had failed, while on the truck at 70 mph. That tire lost the tread, but never lost air pressure. The tread damaged the bed of the truck, to the tune of $780+.which goodyear has reimburesd me for.that tire was shippedback to goodyear.i signed a release at that time, that there would be no further litgation concerniong the first tire. This doesn't concern the first tire as goodyear handled that problem promptly.but due to the latest incident, i feel something needs to be looked at a little closer, this latest incident happened on a warm, sunny day. The tire had been taken off the truck and placed as a spare the first indication that something was wrong was a tearing sound from under the truck. I was standing behind the truck and heard the noise. I looked under the truck to see what it was, and saw that the spare tire had split the tread off the belts. I walked 5 feet away when the tire exploded violently. The tire had 65# air pressure in it at the time of the failure.there was no damage to the truck. Luckily i wasn't looking at the tire when it exploded and thankfully there was no fuel tank close to the spare tire carrier. Metal shards from the belts were sent across my driveway, and front yard.

While checking air pressures, found crack in sidewall about four inches long parallel to tread and about 2 inches from edge of rim.on further inspection found another tire with similar crack about 1 inch long (dot number: mk11tiresize: lt245/75r1)

Blowouts occurred resulting in tire shreading and falling apart making it impossible to repair tires.this situation occured each time.on the second occasion the blowout caused driver to hit head on steering wheel. We had 2 sets of goodyear tires on this truck. The 1st set (original equipment) separated on a trip to calif. From nevada. We were fortunate to feel something wrong & stop. The 2nd set is the set that we have all of the info on. It also seperated on the drive to calif. From nevada. It seperated without warning & did extensive damage to the trk. The wheel well was gone, the body was damaged & the bumper rubber was torn off, in addition to bending the bumper. Both instances happened during family trips. We saved the tire & have pictures of the damage. This truck was not used commercially. We contacted goodyear & they claimed to have no knowledge of this kind of problem with the tire. They suggested that the tire was underinflated. This trk was always expertly maintained.we were very concerned for our family's safety and the last tire seperation was the last straw, so we sold this truck.(dot number: md11amhv42tiresize: lt245175r1)

Optional tires for ford f-150s, lt275/65rx18, sold as an upgrade by dealers, are safety hazards in wet weather.their holding ability is limited and in two wheel drive on rain slick street any power applied for climbing hills, coming out of turns, or entering fwys can result in rear end drift and skidding.exceptional driver care must be exercised to avoid this happening.these tires should be sold as after market tires to address only specific requirements.

While driving my truck on the interstate and pulling a travel trailer, the driver's side front tire had a blowout without warning.my truck and trailer momentarily swerved but i was able to regain control and pull over to the right shoulder.i heard the remaining tire tread strike the wheel well repeatedly before i could stop the truck.the blowout caused extensive damage to the fender, wheel well liner, battery, headlight bracket, bumper and wiring harness.aside from the body damage, numerous wires were torn and rendered the truck inoperable.due to the amount of damage, my insurance carrier deemed the vehicle a total loss.i'm shocked and dismayed that the tire failed.the tires had a 60,000-mile warranty on them, but had been in service for less than 22,000 miles.i checked the tire pressure before starting the trip.my tpms did not indicate a loss of pressure during my travels.the road was flat and in good condition.i did not strike any objects on the road.because i was pulling a trailer, my speed was approximately 50-55 mph.upon further inspection after the blowout, i noticed a large hole in the tire casing.i presume that the tire deteriorated from the inside out, and ultimately resulted in failure.i'm lucky that traffic was light and that i was not near the edge of a cliff or mountain road.although i lost my truck, this blowout could have had much more serious and dire consequences for myself and others.

The right rear tire sidewall blew out in about 7 places on my 1996 ford explorer yesterday ( 11-11-01) on i-71 about 30 miles north of columbus ohio. At right around 65 mph i was very lucky that i could keep control of the vehicle and get it pulled over to the side of the road. After calling aaa for assistance the mechanic that came out to change the tire told me that this was a major tire failure.i would like to know what or now to follow up on this?

Dt:on july 11, 2005 the consumer's rear tire blew out. A part of the sidewall and a part of the tire tread come off, about 2 inches long on the side and about 1 inch in the tread. The tread peeled back from the tire while the consumer was driving 15-25 mph. The tire only had only 2,286 miles on it.

Had two lt 265 75r16 (c rated) goodyear wrangler at/sreplaced on my f 250 diesel crew cab 4x4 long bed on the rear because these were the wrong load rating stated in ford maintenance book. These were replaced with the same tire except they are now e rated. Once on the freeway and began lane changes or long sweeping turns i felt i had a flat. I was losing control of the truck. I immediately slowed down and looked for a place to turn off once off the over pass. I inspected the tires and there did not appear to be anything wrong with them. The following day i went back to the dealership that replaced the tire and a mechanic of theirs took it for a test drive. He too felt the truck lose its steerabilty. We went back to the shop and he visualy inspected the tires for pressure, security(lug nuts) etc. And discussed it with another individual(s). It was his/their oppinion that i may need to replace the front tire because they may not be gripping as well as the rear and taht it what i am feeling and i may also need an alignment. I agreed i would have these things done. However, if this does not resolve it they will not reimburse me for the added expense" it's just a starting point". I have discussed this with a few mechanics and tire specialist had they have no idea what could be causing this. I went on line to research the problem and found one other individual with a very simialar problem on epinions.com brianpeters. I don't know what is causing this problem. I do know that it happened immediatly after tires were replaced(never before) and that it is very scary thinking you are losing control of your steering.

While driving along the highway at about 50mph, and while towing a trailer, the front driver-side goodyear wrangler at tire blew out.in doing so, it also blew out the housing, the front bumper, the front lights and assorted other items.the blow out forced us from the slow lane over 3 lanes to the median divider.thank god that there were no other cars on the road b/c death and disaster would have ensued.we were able to stop the vehicle without losing the trailer.the radials were inflated per manufacturer specs, had been rotated per specs, and had about 30,000 miles on them.the accident occurred about 2:30pm alaska time; the temperature was about 40 degrees fahrenheit.the vehicle is not driveable - it was towed to the local dodge body shop.estimates to repair are substantial!!!

Traveling west on i-80,approx. 10 miles from sharon pa. The left front tire blew up and shredded. There was no indication of air pressure loss (ie; pulling) prior to the blowout and unwraveling of the tire. I had all i could do to maintain control and get to the right side berm. There were five of us in the vehicle.my issue is with the tire manufacturer, not chrysler corp. I was advised by the dodge dealer i did not purchase the extended tire warranty. As an owner of a large independent automotive service repair and collision shop, we examined the tire closely. We noted a an object aprx. 1/4" diameter tapering to a relative point that punctured the tread of the tire. It turned out to be a dried small animal bone. A hunter/friend advised me it appears to be a small bone from a bird. We have seen many punctures, blowouts at city and hi-way speeds, but never a tire "unwraveled" like this. It looks very much like all the pictures involving the firestone/ford fiasco. I am only looking for answers. I now have reservations in general about the tires. I was fortunate to maintain control and avoid swaying into a semi next to me. Any advide will be appreciated. Our gy vendor has offered to give it to gy for their analysis.thank you. Richard a. Replacement tire with 20000 miles on a 1998, chevrolet, tahoe, 245/75r16 , dot unknown.first blowout in october.again, tire blowouton 29 nov 2000 while driving 60 mph.

The contact owns a 1997 toyota 4runner.the contact purchased goodyear wrangler at (lt255/85r16) tires.while driving 60 mph, the contact heard a hissing sound and the vehicle pulled to the right.he pulled over and noticed that the passenger side rear tire was flat.the tire has not yet been examined.the current and failure mileages were 185,000.

I have had 2 failures of my goodyear wrangler lt tires at freeway speeds (approximately 65 mph). One occured on approximately 12/27/98 and another on 5/28/99. In both cases the tire tread delaminated rapidly exposing the steel belts. The first incident had the steel belts come apart as well, and the broken steel wires tore apart my wheel well leaving a 2' dia hole into the cabin. The spinning wires started to hit the bottom of the sofa that my son was sleeping on. Fortunately, i was able to stop before my son was seriously injured. I have always kept the tires properly inflated to 58 psi +/- 2 psi per the recommendation of the dealer i purchased them from. I would have reported this incident earlier, but thought it was perhaps a isolated random event. Subsequently, i have heard that the nhtsa is investigating goodyear as well as firestone for tire failures of this kind. I thought you folks might like to know of my experience. I still have 3 of the original 6 goodyears on my motorhome. Perhaps i should replace them? i appreciate your consideration.sincerely, jerry r. Frey.(dot number: n/atiresize: 8.75r16.5)

Left rear tire had tread separation and sidewall circumferential disintegration, with loss of control of the suv. It was dry road, daytime, outside temp about 55f, speed about 42 mph, and car had been moving for about 10 minutes from cold start. Car careened side to side of 2 lane medium speed highway, finally stopping in about 1/4-1/3 mile. Required extremely vigorous muscle to limit lateral travel and torque roll of vehicle. The sound was like a helicopter rotor chop that became rapidly louder over 5-10 sec, followed by loss of control. Tire inspected by insurance who certified there was no road hazard cause, and 'had never seen a tire disintegrate like this before'. Tires are oem, original, rotated per schedule, maintained pressure per labelling. Vehicle had two persons, no towing or loads more than 1-2 additonal passengers at any time. On october 17, 1998after driving on a us montana300 miles i had a front passenger tire blow out.the last i recall was jerking the wheel and when i corrected i struck a small irrigation bridge in the on coming lane causing my truck to roll.this caused me to fracture my skull, break my neck, and be hospitilized for seven weeks.i had an engineer, who is a private consultant for goodyear, examine the photographs of my tire and sent me a report saying the tire failed due to lw air pressure.i had my tire checked by a certified ford dealership the day prior to my accident and i have proof of that.if this tire is the fault of goodyear it should be recalled before others nearly die like i did.i have two peices of the tire and the rim in my possession.the engineer said if i found the tire i may find melted nylon on the sidewall which i did find the tire.it does have melted nylon on the rubber and it is a 360 degree seperation with the inside and outside of the tire still on the rim and the tread section missing. During vehicle inspection prior to a trip, two "rips" of about 3 1/2" - 4 " were observed about 18" apart on the sidewall, about 4 1/2" above the tread on the sidewall.the side of the tire in both places was away from the carcass of the tire, revealing the tread cap and the inner carcass of the tire.it appeared that there was no adhesive binding the outer side of the tire to the carcass in either location. Photos were taken of the damage.note:this damage could not be detected in a cursory check, except if the "rip" is almost on the bottom of the wheel rotation as it sits on the road under load.*la

Goodyear wrangler tire failure. I have 235/17/70 tires on my f150. The sidewalls are peeling, revealing white... I have had two sidewall failures resulting in highway blowouts. All 5 goodyear warngler ap tires as original equipment on truck were defective with bulges on sidewalls.bitterroot ford rep denied that tires had any defects and would have "put them on his wife's car" and in fact said that they had the exact same model tires in their inventory with the same bulges on the sidewalls, but for customer relations they would replace them and he refused to give us goodyear phone number.however, we did get the goodyear phone number from other sources and called goodyear tire direct who had us go directly to their goodyear tire dealer in polson, montana, who examined all 5 tires which included the spare (which had never been on the ground) and verified that all 5 tires were defective with bulges on the sidewalls.he then directly informed goodyear tire and they immediately authorized him to replace withno pro-rate reduction all 5 of the goodyear wrangler ap tires with another model their tires. My ford expedition was outfitted a little over 3 years ago with goodyear wranglers by ford due to the firestone tire failure.recently, while washing the vehicle i noticed failure in the sidewall of the driver's side rear tire.all around the rim approximately 1/2 to 3/4" from the rim there are cracks in the rubber sidewall opening up as the earth does during an earthquake.these are approximately 2-3" long and a little over 1/8" deep so far.this is highly unusual for three year old tires.these will be removed before the next long trip as i will not wait for failure and put my or my family in danger.

Caught the failure and presented it to a goodyear tire dealer and they would not do anything.

Tire failure: the 2002 chevrolet 3500 truck purchased had goodyear wrangler tires on as original equipment. They all bulged around the rim and eventually one "blew out" i took them to the goodyear dealer and they replaced them under road hazard. The replacement set ran half life and they started to bulge in the same spot. One blew out on the freeway.this time i replaced them with different tires, but saved the old ones in case you wished to look at them. Serious injury could happen from this and i think that if i had replaced them with goodyer tires, the problem would be burried within the company.if you are not interested then i need to recycle them.

While driving approximately 65 mphfront driver's side tire blew out.after checking the tires consumer noticed that the tire on front left had a split down the middle of the tread thatwas causing it to separate.afterwards, while driving heard noises that sounded like rubber hitting underneath the vehicle. Checked the tires, and noticed that the rear left tire blewout and the steel belts were coming through it.. Consumer owned two cadillac escalade. Oodyear tires wore out at approximately 25,000 miles.

On march 21, 2004 iwas traveling from miami to orlando when one of my truck tire blew the tread off the tire. At this time i saw a fhp and stop to report the the incident(report # 02273824) this is the second time that this happens with this tires, i still havefour more install on my truck and i'm afraid that something worse occours with this tires.

While washing the tires, the consumer's hand was cut due to wires sticking from the sides.upon closer inspection the consumer found that all four tires had parts of the steel belt sticking from the side.the steel belts were at the junction were the sidewall and the tread meet on the tire.the dealer was willing to replace the tires at a prorated cost. Prior week noticed roughness in ride.did not detect damage.july 2, traveling at 70 mph on south 101 toward gilroy.ride was rough and a noise like a helicopter was heard.made decision to get off of freeway to investigate.in the slow lane, loud noise, stopped car on freeway exit shoulder.a piece of the tread was missing.other places on tread were cracked and coming loose.luckily, the noise made me get off of the freeway.tires will be replaced.*la

While driving 40 mph, the right rear tire tread separated.this was the replacement tire for the tire recall 01t016000.*sc

First incident was on 9/1/99 pulling 5th wheel trailer at 55 mph.tire blew the tread.second incident was on 6/18/00 in iowa, pulling 5th wheel trailer at 60mph.pulled off for fuel and noticed steel belt protruding from under tread, loss of pressure but not flat. I purchasedfour goodyear wrangler atd 255/70r16 tires from sam's wholesale club. I have experienced irregular and excessive wear on outer edges of all four tires, causing vibration and handling problems. I have tried rotating, balanceing, and realignment of my truck. Nothing seems to help.

Lt245/75r16 e, dot md11 btov 116333l,tread separation, tire stayed inflated to 80lbs, tread flew off exposing steel belt, damaging left rear fender well and side panel, had to replace pickup box side panel. Goodyear dealer found 2nd tire with bubble in tread area. They refused to prorate but did give me $10.00 discount on each of two replacement tires. They tried to keep defective tire but after a big argument let me keep tire so my insurance adjuster could take pictures of it. I still have tire. Consumer states while driving 65 mph without warning the tread separated resulting the vehicle to flip twice and occurred major injuries. Nlm

The left rear tire failed catastropically. Tread violently separated from the tire doing considerable damage to the vehicle.loss of control of vehicle occurred, but no crash resulted.the failed tire remained fully inflated after the vehicle was brought to rest.the failed tire slowly lost pressure after the incident and was at a low pressure when it was brought to a goodyear dealer 40 hours after the failure occured.all of the tires were well maintained, properly inflated, and were not overloaded.all of the tires have been replaced due to safety concerns for myself and others.the local goodyear dealer has the all of the tires and will be able to provide identification numbers.( dot number:)

2002 chevrolet avalanche-27.000 miles. Regular tire rotation and alignment. Tires still wore in irregular pattern. On 12-13-04 noticed spot on right rear tire where a "bubble" had burst and the steel belts were coming through.(about 1" in dia.). Vehicle still under warranty. Took to local tire retailer who stated that tire was defective and should be taken to car dealer.called car dealer. Sent to goodyear dealer. First tech examined tire and stated it was a defective tire. Manager came out and said lack of maintenance was cause of problem. Then stated that 265/70r17 ats was for offroad use and not intended for highway use only. Said all 4 tires needed to be replaced with 265/70r17 rt.
