While traveling at 40 mph noticed rear of vehicle vibrating.had tire serviced and discovered thattire was out of round. Please provide further information.
Consumer took vehicle to dealer for tire recall repairs.dealer refused to remedy vehicle, stating that agency modified van because they removed5th row of seats.van is used by a va hospital which uses a gurney in place of seats.consumer states that recall letter specifically states those 15 passenger vans with or without the 5th row of seats.
We haveexperienced four catastrophic tire failures in less that one year. All were on 15-passenger ford vans used to transport students. Each failure involved the rear tires. There was no warning. The tire exploded so violently that the van shook. The tread came completely off and destroyed the rear heating. We just noticed that a fifth tire had a large bulge indicating that a failure was about to happen. About 8 years ago one of our vans had a blowout and rolled killing one chearleader and seriously injuring several more. I do not know if that tire was a goodyear workhorse. What can your agency tell me about the safety of this brand of tire? are there any load e tires that you have not received complaints about?( dot number:)
These tires did not last one year. Odometer reading 30249 when tires new. I changed the tires at odometer reading 59126 miles. The tires are rated for 50,ooo. I had the tires rotated before i took a trip to kansas city this past summer in may. I was told by the owner of the goodyear service center in beaumont texas that the reason for the tire failure was under inflation. The tire manufacturer recommends one inflation and the auto manufacturer recommends another. I asked the goodyear service manager if goodyear had this in writing he said no. I beleive i got ripped off! the two times i had my vehicles tires balance i was not told that at the goodyear dealerships that they were under inflated. I would not purchase another goodyear tire even though the company i work for has them as a customer butadiene customer. I went to another company and got tires for my vehicle and met a goodyear employee and the beaumont texas facility that told me he had the same problem and even though he worked for goodyear plant he would not purchased their tires. He also by here say told me that a retired gentleman at the firestone facility in illonois plant told him that they made tires with other tire company names. I would like to know if this is true. I have four children and a sick wife and i can't afford to be duped by conglomerate tire manufactures. While driving rear driver's side tire blew out. Consumer managed to pull over to change the tire. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.2500 model, goodyear, workhorse, lt245/75r16.
I first bought a set of these tires in 1996. The ride was rough from the beginning, and i complained. The dealer told me they were "out of round but within goodyear specs". I continued to drive with a noticeable vibration because they would not replace the tires and i could not afford to replace them. In the fall of '98,one of the ires delaminated while driving at highway speed. I put on my spare and continued. I could not find a replacement locally, and continued to drive on my spare. Less than 3 weeks later, a second tire delaminated. I then drove to another town 50 miles away and told them of the problem, and insisted they replace all 4 tires, which they did at a prorated price.the second set rode with a slight vibration, but was better than the first. This gradually deteriorated, until i was driving with much vibration. Balancing would not help. In set. Of 2000 another tire delaminated. Goodyera no longe makes this tire, and sent me a refund. I then bought 2 michelins, using the mate to the bad tire as a spare. The ride improved some, but was still vibrating. In sept. Of 2001 i went in to get my wheels balanced, and they told me my front tires were delaminating[goodyears]. My mechanic confirmed this. I complained to goodyear, and they recently sent me a check for 1/2 of my purchase price. I have had 5 out of 8 of these tires delaminate. I believe the only reason the other 3 didnot, is because they were removed before theycould.(tiresize: 875r16.5 e)
Goodyear faulty tires caused vehicle to be inoperable. The left front tire delaminated but did not go flat. Theright front tire bulged, delaminated and blew out.left rear bulged first then blew out.the right rear tire lost 10 pounds of air every month.the consumer was driving the vehicle to the mechanic when the left rear tire blew out again followed by the right front to blow out 20 seconds later.*tc
The left rear tire blew out on i 95 while traveling at approx. 70 mph. This caused the truck to sway back and forth from the left lane then back into the right lane several times. I was lucky that nobody was beside me at the time. When i pulled off the road i saw that the whole tread was gone off the tire. It bent up the quarter panel and ripped the tailpipe out of the muffler. The tread had hit some other cars and was about 1/4-1/2 a mile down the road. The tires all have large bulges of uneven treads. I called goodyear and told them the problem. They said they dont have any problems with these tires and any wear problems are probably the fault of my vehicle. They did say they want the blown tire and will replace it, but will not replace the others. So they are all in my garage waiting for a recall. They are dangerous. Three tires have been deflated whiletraveling at highway speeds on three separate occasions. This has been confirmed to have been caused by the valve stems, having cuts in them at the rim. After replacing the valve stems, although damaged, the tires all still held air. These goodyear tires were brand new in 2007 installed at a wal-mart service center. I am thankful i wasn't killed.
I purchased the tires in february of 2001, about two weeks after i bought them, i went over a small curb in the snow. Both front tires blew out at the sidewalls. I e-mailed goodyear and told them of my problem.they responded by replacing tires and charging me for the labor. May 15, 2001, i was driving down the highway at about 55-60 mph. When my front right tire blew out at the inside sidewall forcing the truck to pull hard to the right and off the road. Myright shoulder was injured due to this incident. 7-17-2000 tire blew out and had tread separation. Tire replacement cost $60. 8-27-2000 tire had tread separation while doing 60 mph on route 80 in ohio. Caused $1000 in body damage in addition to having to pay $80 to get tire replaced.5-28-2001 tire had tread separation while doing 60 mph on route 295 in new jersey. Caused approx. $2000 in body damage.i have not replaced tire yet.the body damage occurred because as the tread was peeling off the tire, it was beating against the side of the trailer. Replacement tires on a dodge, ram, 2500, 1996, pick up, 24575r16, dot md11y7hu307.while driving on highway at 70 mph, towing 10, 000 pounds trailer load and 1500 pds in vechicle bed,tread separated onpassenger's side rear tire. With onlydriver in vehicle while travelinmg at 65 mphright rear tire tread commenced to separate while still inflated on a 1995, chevrolet, silverado; after market equipment installed at 70,000 miles, tire size lt 265/75r16, dot# mdwsetov386. Goodyear was not notified at this time. Feel free to provide any further information.
These tires are installed on a four horse gooseneck horse trailer. The recommended infation pressure is 75psi. At the time of the tire's tread separation all four tires were inflated at 60psi. The trailer was not overloaded and due to signs of wear on the middle of the tread pattern i only infalted them to 60psi. A local goodyear dealer measured the tire with 6/32 of tread remaining. I have had no other problems with the other three tires other than an uneven wear pattern similar to the one that failed.please advise me on the next steps that should be taken to replace these tires. Fortunately there was no damage or injury to livestockor persons with the failure of this one tire. I do not wish to take that chance again.
