The contact owns a 2013 fleetwood providence rv equipped with good year tires, tire line: g6 70, and tire size 295/80r/22.5.while driving 65 mph in the center lane, the front passenger side tire exploded without warning. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a jersey wall/ barrier road crashed into 3 other vehicles. There were no reported injuries.a police report was filed. There was no fire or air bag deployment. The fire department was on the scene. The vehicle was towed to fleetwood rv inc located at 1010 w commerce dr, decatur, in 46733; phone number: (260) 728-9564 where the tire was replaced.the original tire was sent to the manufacturer.additionally while the rv was parked the rear driver side tire exploded.the manufacturer was contacted who sent a representative who informed that the sidewall and belts were rusted.the failure mileage was 22,700.
We had a wreck with our motor home through no fault of our own.after the tire exploded, we ended up in a swampy field approx. 300 yards off the highway. There were no events leading up to the failure of this tire.we were running smoothly at the speed limit of 65mph. We had been traveling for approx. 3 hours on a smooth highway.we were in our 45' motor home. We heard an explosion sound, sudden loss of air, it had never happened ever before. All the tires had a lot of tread and only approx. 27,000 miles on all tires. We did not hit anything in the road. We checked the pressure in the tires prior to take off; we always do. We are experienced safe drivers; no accidents prior.the tire had massive tread separation and massive belt separation. The tire is locked up in storage unit where our motor home is being evaluated for damages.it was a horrific experience.
Tires are very dangers on wet pavement. They vehicle becomes very slippery. After the tire have 5 to 10k miles. I understand that the tire in question was made originally for the for the expedition by good year only, and now other manufactures has it. Please try it out and let me know. Tread separation of a goodyear g670 rv tire (size 295/80/r22.5 manufactured at buffalo plant in 2005) which was installed on right front of an american coach, american eagle rv which led to a fire and death of 3 occupants of motor home.
Goodyear g670 rv tire: "rivering"- type tread wear leads to steering pull after less than 25,000 miles of use.front tires showed rivering (wear between 1st and second treads) after about 24,000 miles.as rivering became more pronounced, the steering pull/drift quickly became more pronounced.swapping the front tires left to right changed the pull to the other side.suspected tire deterioration and/or internal belt shifting internally as cause.i decided it was too dangerous to continue use so the tires were replaced although tread wear was minimal.
