Around 15 thousand, i noticed a very thin spot and had the alignment checked again, and the aligner told me that the metal was showing through, and the tires were about to split apart. Had the tires changed for another brand on all four corners, and have not have any problems since after 22,000 more miles. Still have the original front tires for reference or inspection, and all alignment sheets. Being an incident from over a year ago, i am not 100% sure on the dates.

Defective tires: ********goodyear eagle rs-a emt*********** 04/12/12-this second event, driving 2007 jeep srt8 on side street, tire pressure went abruptly to zero as steering went out causing vehicle to veer off road and onto shoulder and grass. Upon removal of left front tire, tread separation cracks were apparent, some as long as 1-1 1/2 inches, at least one of which separated through to airlock. Inner edge of tire very mushy along 14-16 inches of where separation occurred. Tire replaced with same issue. This event is almost identical to an occurrence that happened september 2011 on the same vehicle, rear tire displayed separation on inner edge over large area. Tire dealer advised likely due to pothole, which was not an experienced event [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

We bought a 2006 jeep grand cherokee srt-8 and the front tires had been recently replaced so we weren't too concerned but when i did an oil change on sunday i noticed the right front tires tread was separating from the rest of the tire.this is our family vehicle so because i was worried about something happening to the tire and perhaps us we have not been able to use the vehicle.i ordered a new set of tires and will get them installed this weekend.i am keeping the old tires for proof of the damage.

The contact owns a 2009 jeep grand cherokee. While driving at low speeds, the inner tread of the tire separated and lost all pressure within seconds. The dealer where the tires were purchased notified the manufacturer but they offered no assistance. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 21,000 and the current mileage is 21,000.

Regarding goodyear eagle rs-a emt (runflat), size 255/45r20, tires that come as original equipment for the 2010 jeep grand cherokee srt-8. The front tires have shown excessive wear on the inside shoulder leading to the tread separating from the sidewall in under than 14,000 miles. This is not an isolated incident, as my previous vehicle, a 2007 jeep grand cherokee srt-8, equipped with the same wheel/tire package from the factory experienced the exact same failure twice within 40,000 miles.

After reading where multiple jeep grand cherokee srt8 owners were experiencing front tire failure with factory tires, i had my tires checked during an alignment.both of my front tires are experiencing a tread separation failure.i bought this vehicle with brand new tires on it, 0 miles from a local dealer.i contacted goodyear corporate, who sent me to a goodyear dealer locally, who inspected my tires, informed me they were defective, and offered me a pro-rated replace of 50% off.i feel that if a tire (or any product) has a manufacturing defect, then it should be replaced as such and not pro-rated.the tire was obviously defective from day one, and is only showing such after some use.now i have to pay for replacement of tires that are not completely used nor worn to treadwear markers for fear of complete tire failure.

Front tires separated at the inner section of tire.the grooved section of tire separated from sidewall causing an instant blowout and loss of steering control.passenger tire failed completely.driver side has same wear and separation but did not fail at this point.

2008 jeep srt8purchased in december 2009 with brand new tires. Less than 30k miles and found front tires separating on inner edges with plenty of tread left and alignment within specs. I found this yesterday when i decided to do some maintenance repairs as i am a jeep technician and i work at a chrysler dealership. The front tires are completely separated with threads exposed. This is extremely dangerous as i drive this vehicle with family at highway speeds. I have pictures if necessary and can provide alignment specs. I am a member of the jeep srt8 forum and this is a common issue with many members.

The contact owns a 2008 jeep grand cherokee str8 (na) equipped with goodyear eagle rsa emt 255/45/r20 tires. The dot was unavailable. The contact stated that the sidewall on the front tires shredded. The vehicle began to sway and shake. The contact took the vehicle to a tire dealer and was awaiting new tires to be sent. The current and failure mileages were approximately 23,000.

The sidewall and tread are separating.the tires are goodyear rs-a emt run on flat tires that came standard on my 2008 jeep grand cherokee srt8. This was discovered by a tire technician while having my tires rotated from left to right and vice versa.i was told to replace the tires as soon as possible.

The front tires have premature ware on the inner edge of tire, the result was tire separation. After only 16000 miles of use. I have the alignment checked an it was within factory specification. I had to purchase a new set of tires. Old tires still in hand and have pictures of the tires.

Goodyear eagle rs-a emt (high performance all-season) - runflatre: goodyear eagle rsa tread separation (tire failure)i have a serious problem with the original tires, no modifications to vehicle, 2007 srt8 jeep grand cherokeeboth front tires developed an unnatural groove on the inner edge (where tread meets inner sidewall) causing tread separation and failure, actually at the same time. Tire pressure when to zero. Nothing was rubbing the tire, but looking at it you would think it is the only explanation. Tread separation in my case happened at about 30,000 miles from new at about 40 miles per hour.i can send photos to anyone who wants them.there are many references to the same type of tire failure online over several years, one example being with an srt8 forumhttp://www.srt8oc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=211455#post211455
