Good year run flat tires are very unsafe. Apparently bmw and goodyear have some kind of deal. I bought a 2011 bmw 535i with the sport package which includes the 19" goodyears. They have always leaked and get bubbles. One day if not already people will die cause of this tire. Again goodyears killing people. This needs to stop.
Over a period of 5 weeks and 2300 miles i have experienced sidewall degradation (blister) four different times on three tires after traversing broken pavement/pot holes at speeds between 25 and 60 mph. Since this specific tire is only sold on 2011 bmw 535 and 550 all-wheel drive models with optional sport package equipment, there are probably relatively few people who own the tire. Therefore, i request that you be especially vigilant in investigating any potential problem since you will undoubtedly receive few failure reports. Because i periodically check the tire air pressure i detected the problem before it resulted in catastrophic tire failure. The problem has been exacerbated because the tires are on back order and are not readily available in the united states. I had to wait over two weeks to replace the initial failures and am currently waiting to replace another.
Major issues with a specific tire.new 5 series from bmw, if get 19" wheels come with substandard tires - goodyear eagle ls2 run flats.they bubble and fail at an alarmingly high rate.lost one tire within a month of purchase.got rid of them before they could cause me any more problems.
While driving my 2011 bmw 535xi, i hit a small pothole while driving at about 25mph. A large bubble in the sidewall of my goodyear eagle ls2 run-flat tire appeared.this goodyear eagle ls2 rft, size 245/40r19 has a design flaw or manufacturing defect that results in even minor road hazards causing sidewall bubbles. There are a large number of bmw 535xi owners reporting similar problems with this tire on the internet.continuing to drive the car with a sidewall bubble poses a significant safety risk. Therefore, the tire needed to be replaced.
Goodyear run on flat 245/40/19 gets bubble on tire.i had to change the same tire within 10 days with no warranty coverage available.then a week later had to change another tire which is 3 tires within 5,000 miles and cost of $1,600.

2011 bmw 550i xdrive with m-sport package has goodyear eagle ls-2 245/40r19 98v tires.the right front tire developed 3 minor bubbles on sidewall and the left front developed one major bubble and 2 small bubbles on sidewallwithin 3,500 miles and both tires need to be replaced.i've driven on the same roads for over ten years and never had any issues with other tires, but within 6 months of owning this car, i have had serious problems with these tires.these tires are clearly defective and should be recalled.
I have had 8 bent rims and had to replace 5 tires due to multiple bubbles in each tire since i purchased this vehicle in october of 2010. I have never had this experience with any other car i have owned.
Tire is a run flat type of tire and the wear of all four tires was severe on the inside of tire while tread across the rest of the tire was still satisfactory. Rear tire tread started separating and the vehicle had to be taken off the road due to the severity of the tread separation. Continued operation of the vehicle would have resulted in complete destruction of the tire and loss of control of the vehicleinternet research indicates this to be a "common" problem with this vehicle and the manufacturer refuses to recognize the danger to the public.
Goodyear eagle ls2 tire developed bubble after less than 2000 miles. Tire is on national backorder and is the only tire approved for this car. I see this as a safety issue for both the car and the tire since i have to either order non-recommended tires (this is the only run-flat tire in the oe size) or drive on a dangerous tire.

Original tires on bmw 550i xdrive with m sport package have failed due to bubbles in the sidewalls.these are good year eagle ls-2 runflats, 245/40r19 98 v.i have had front right tire replaced twice, and front left tire now awaiting 3rd replacement.bubbles occur after tire takes any small impact in the road, such as driving over a manhole that is not quite up to the level of the pavement, or hitting a small pothole.on this particular model, there are no other tire replacements approved, and the current tire replacement is on backorder.this is a serious safety hazard to drive on tires that can potentially blow out the sidewall while driving at high speed.i feel there needs to be a national recall on these tires, which would then obligate bmw to use a different tire line.thank you.
