The goodyear tires had to be replaced at 33000 miles. The engine has been making a clicking noise (sounds like a bad lifter)& usingaprox. 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles. I have had the vehicle in for these problems on at least six different occasions with no satisfaction.the service department informed me that there was nothing wrong with the engine, that the oil consumption is not considered excesive and the clicking is normal .(tiresize: p205/75r14)( dot number:tire size: p205/75r14 )

I was parked at burger king, turned the ignition and put my caravan in reverse to get out of my parking space.to my surprise, the car gave a sever jolt, and would not go into reverse....i tried again and the same jolt occurred, this time sounding like stuff inside was being smashed up (like a trash compactor sounds).i tried to get it into drive (even though i was almost as far up as i could go) and it wouldn't budge either...the sounds getting worse.afraid i was crushing things inside, i turned the car off.my two children and i walked the mile or so home and i called a tow truck.the mechanic said it appeared to be a transmission problem.once he looked it over and took the transmission out,it was a severe problem, "bizzarre" is the exact word of the mechanc who asked me if i had any warning signs.i had none.he said he couldn't believe the extent of stuff broken apart inside the transmision like broken glass...and said he could not even come up with an explanation of how it might have occured since it was so unlikely for a car this new (97) with only 43000 miles and then for the "rear planetary (sp) gear carrier to have beenmutilated like it was without the front happening.i have photos to show the horrific damage.and i am reporting this because, god forbid, i had not been parked but stopped for a light or something or on a dark road or wherever, i cringe at the thought of the accident that could have occurred with this happening with absolutely no warning and i feel chrysler should answer to this!!!!!!!!i did call their customer svc center to report this and to demand restitution as it cost me $2134; they did not want to know nothing since i had not brought it to a "chrylser/dodge dealer" to be fixed....the catch 22 is that i did not do so because i was passed my warrantly and my experiences with dealers' service center prices for major work has been beyond my pocketbook!!!please investigate this matter

Two original goodyear tires suffered tread separation.the first time i was traveling at 75 mph. Mr

I noticed a small split on the outboardsidewall of the left front tire.even though the tires had adequate tread remaining, i decided to have it checked out.one other tire had a slow leak, and based on prices, i decided to replace all four tires.after the installation of the new tires, the service manager commented that i must have someone looking out for me.i asked what he meant and he took me out into the service bay to show me the tires.three of the four had splits between the sidewall and tread measuring 13 inches or more.two of the tires had multiple splits.all three tires had the longest splits on the inboard side of the tires (only one had a small split on the outboard sidewall) and thus the worst problems had not been visible fom outside the van.because of the slow leak in one tire i had been keeping close tabs on the air pressure to keep it within range for all four, but for some reason the tires had inordinate wear on the outside edges only.i didn't keep any of the tires, but after the recent news regarding a possible recall of some goodyear tires , i felt i should report it.i don't know if this is one of the tires possibly being considered for a recall, but someone should look into these tires.the service manager indicated that one or more would likely have lost tread withintwo hundred miles.i feel very lucky. I took van into said dealership and they told me the rear tires had uneven wear spots and there was no problem with the van and asked me to contact the tire manufacturor with a 800 number.i contacted the local goodyear facility in royal oak, mi.i was told by the manager of the store there that he sees at least 4 or 5 dodge/chrysler minivans a week with the same problem.the problem seems to stem from not rotating the tires.i do not believe in rotating tires and never have in the past.on a front wheel drive vehicle, such as my grand caravan, you should not have a problem with the rear tires if you never rotate the tires.i had a 1985 honda prelude with front wheel drive that i never rotated the tires and got 80,000 miles out of the rear tires.i had to change the tires at that point because of dry rot, not wear.goodyear told me they would not replace the tires since i did not rotate the tires.here i am, my wife and child ride in this vehicle all the time, with tires that are not even close to being safe.the van vibrates at all speeds and the noise on the highway from the tires is real bad, especially in the back seats.both goodyear and the dealership agreed that i have bad tires, yet noone wants to take the blame for this and i am really frustrated. Pronounced tire bounce between 45-50 mph.took to dealer on friday, 5 october.they diagnosed 3 tires out of round.took vehicle to goodyear auto service center (37 e. Nine mile rd., pensacola, fl. 32514, ph. 850-479-2007) on monday, oct 9,goodyear diagnosed 1 tire (rf) out of round and 3 aluminum rims (lf, lr, & rr) as being warped.goodyear ordered 3 tires and chrysler dealer ordered 3 new rims from atlanta.called both the morning ofoctober 11 and they had rims and tires.picked up the rims at chrysler plymouth dealer and took them over to goodyear for installation.goodyear mounted their three new tires on the three new rims supplied by the chrysler dealer and replace them on the lf, rr, and lr. Still have a the same noticable bounce.my major concern is the fact that i started vacation on monday, october 9th and our plan was to head for a visit to michigan.it snowed last weekend in michigan, and although i am originally from michigan and drove on their winter roads for 33 years, i am concerned about the loss of control on slippery roads due to the wheel bounce.the original tires, ser #'s b276272gcw79mmsc, b276261gcw79mmsc, and b301163gcw79mmsc are at the goodyear store, and the original rims were returned to the chrysley/plymouth dealer. I do not know which dealer or if the rims or wheels are at fault.i did not know where else to turn.will call chrysler in detroit tomorrow to see if i can meet with the factory rep the next time he is in town.hope this info may help others. I've had a half dozen customers' caravans with goodyear conquest tires that i've caught in time to avoid any blowouts.these tires are slipping belts, and the treads are separating.the worst case was one 1998 caravan with 35k miles, and 3 of 4 tires were about to let go.(steel belts breaking through tread around 1/2 circumference of tire)i don't believe air pressure to be an issue here!!( dot number: tire size: 215/70/15? )

Goodyear conquest tire tread separated.*mrthe vehicle experienced ply separation which caused the rear tire to bounce at slow speeds and make noise associated with ply separation.the vehicle was taken to goodyear but they refused to look att eh tires.the consumer replaced two tires with brand x tires, about 1000 miles later there was another indication of the same problem with one of the remaining goodyear tires.the consumer also replaced those with brand x.*nlm

While driving 75 mphrear driver side tire blew out.

Right rear goodyear conquest tire, serial number m6xoedwr447, exploded disintegrating the right rear splash guard, estimated damage $195.00 plus $125.00 for the replacement tire.tires were not origianal equipment and plenty of treadware remaining.per the goodyear mechanic, the following took place within 10 miles and less than 20 minutes:i picked up a nail, threw the nail which allowed the air to escape, when the tire pressure became too low the tire came off the rim and exploded.i pulled over to the shoulder of the road due to the extremely loud noise that occurred when the tire exploded.despite what the goodyear dealer or goodyear customer service said in their reponse to my e-mail, i believe there is something wrong with this tire and should not have had to pay full price for the replacement.i am obtaining information on filing a claim and will file one once it is received.i have pictures of the explosion result.my office e-mail, all lowercase letters is:[email protected].(tiresize: p22560r16)( dot number:tire size: p22560r16 )

Vehicle is garage kept, and well maintained.original tires with light to moderatetreadwear.on clear dry well maintained toll road while on cruise control at 70 mph, the front lefttire sidewall completely blew out.my wife (the driver) was fortunately able to keep the vehicle under control and make it to the shoulder.this could have been disastrous if she had not kept her head and not slammed on brakes or panicked and oversteered.we felt it necessary to replace the entire set of tires, even though the remaining tire's treadware seemed fine. We saved the pieces of the tire that blew, took digital pictures, and video. We noticed some wobble in the front end while driving during the week, but attributed that to a previously replaced rear bumper and need for reallignment due to that accident.when we stopped for gas on 6/30/01 we noticed that the passenger front tire was very low.we filled it with air and drove less than a mile.at that point, the tire was almost completely flat and we called aaa for service.the tow truck driver removed the front tire and discovered one 6" tear and one 2-3" tear .the tears were deep enough to reveal the steel belts.he said that the tire appeared to be deffective, and that the damage would not have occurred as the result of driving over something. Tire size pt15/65r15, consumer was driving a rental car dodge, caravan, 2000 on highway when left rear tire blewout.tread separated, causing driver to lose control vehicle and roll over, resulting in 5 injuries and 1 fatality.

I was traveling on the highway at 55 mph with my wife and 3 kids in my 2000 dodge grand caravan. Suddenly the passenger side rear tire blew out and we heard a loud rumbling noise. I was able to cross over 2 lanes to get to an exit without losing control or hitting any other vehicles, my wife and kids were very shook up. After inspecting the blown tire i found 3 seperate slits in the side of the tire were it appeared the sidewall just blew out. I could not find any trace of a nail or any other object in the treads or the sidewall. I brought the tire to national tire and battery and the technician told me that the rim was slightly bent and that this caused the blow out. I am expecting to pay about $135 for the repair, but i have talked with several people who know tires fairly well and they said a slightly bent rim should not have caused this problem. I am more concerned that the other 3 tires may blow at any time and that my family could be at risk.i am asking the technician to check all the tires for any defects after experiencing this, hopefully if there is an issue they will not hide it from me so they can make a profit. I feel like i was very lucky there were no injuries in this case, but i worry about the next time. (tiresize: p215/65r15)

During flat repair, this tire was removed from rim for first time. It was then seen that the bead was damaged, apparently at the time of assembly by plymouth. A call to goodyear indicated that chrysler had done a recall on these exact tires for the exact same reason for the model year earlier. This is your nhtsa campaign id number 97v200000 (mfg campaign #749). My vehicle was assembled 9/8/97, just a few months after the prior model year recall ended. Chrysler allowed the dealer to dismount all four remaining tires to inspect for damage. An additional one of those tires also had bead damage. Chrysler then refused to pay for replacement tires (or any portion thereof). Dealer agreed to sell three new tires (to be used with the undamaged spare which had not been used) at their cost, with no installation charge. It seems that the assembly problem that caused the 1997 model year recall was not fixed completely, and that the same potential hazard may exist in at least some 1998 model year tires.( dot number: tire size: p215 65r15 )

The original equipment tires on my 1997 ford escort station wagon are cracking on the inside sidewall or have cracked through to expose the steel cord.i have contacted the dealership who said that they do not warranty the tires and there was nothing they could do.i have contacted the local authorized goodyear dealer where they inspected the tires and indicated that the failure looked like a manufacturing defect.they said that goodyear would authorize them to give me a partial credit for the tires if i replaced them with another set of goodyear tires but that they would not excahnge them for new tires at no cost. While driving right rear tire blistered.

While inspecting the tires on my car, i saw the inside sidewall had peeled away from the casing. This condition is on both front tires and consists of about 12 inches of damage per tire. I called goodyear customer relations and they gave me the impression that it was not of any great concern and that this was a normal condition that should be covered under the limited warranty adjustment policy.(dot number: t278408gcwtiresize: p18565 r14)

These tires were replaced as part of a recall in approximately 1998.the thread on this tire has virtually no wear.there is probably about 12-15,000 miles on these tires.my son and i were drivng down the highway when the tire completely blew out, nearly causing an accident.i hate to think what would have happened had a car been closer to us than they were, and we were not able to get to the side of the highway safely and quickly.upon inspection of the tire, i saw that the thread had completely come off the sides of the tire.the tire was in three distinctly different parts.the tow truck driver who came to change the tire was flabergasted at the condition of the tire.he said that the only other tires he has seen that looked like this were the firestore tires on the suvs.when i went to the tire dealer to replace the tire, he had the same type of comments.it was obvious to the two repair men that these tires were defectvie.both said we were lucky to be alive given the condition of the tire.my question is now, what should i do with the other one that is on there, and can i get retribution for the cost of these tires.also, how can i find out if this has happened to others in the past?should i contact the dealership or the manufacturer.if you could supply me with this information, i would appreciate it.thank you.(tiresize: p215/65r15)

About eight months after i owned my vehicle, the right front tire was showing excessive wear and was told to have the car aligned.the tires were rotated and the car aligned.these tires have a lot of treadeven tho they keeping wearing on the edges.i have my tires rotated according to the manual.in december 2000 i went to the goodyear people and they said one tire had three bubbles on it so i put the spare on.then he proceeded to tell me that all tires had bubbles and should be replaced as soon as possible. They want me to buy the same tire for $113. Each and they will give me a 25% discount, well i wouldn't buy that tire at any price.the massey dealer says it is up to goodyear.now i am afraid to drive the car with these tires on it.i feel that if a tire only lasts 28000 miles it should not be put on a new vehicle and certainly not sold at $113. Goodyear tire recall.i own a 15 passenger ford van, approx one year ago i received a letter from goodyear, to take my van to a goodyear dealer and have the tires inspected for some replacement campaign.it was determined that my tires were to be replaced at no charge.recently four of the five replacement tires have separated and had to be replaced. The fifth has not separated because it is the new spare.one of the center treads is letting go and are rising higher then the rest of the treads causing the tire to bounce drastically.these tires are the goodyear conquest.i have been getting a lot of static from the superior goodyear dealers, so after calling goodyear, i wasadvised to go to discount tires for an adjustment.one of my tires separated a week ago, i replaced it with the spare, and on 9-19-03 the fourth tire let go.i was advised by discount tire why i wanted the same kind of tire for replacement,i advised them that goodyear said that was the only tire i could replace them with.discount advised differently, and put two michelin tires on for me at little cost.i guess all i am trying to do is to advise that the tires goodyear is using to replace the original recalled tires are worse then the originals.i had 50,000 plus miles on the original tires with no problems, and i am barely getting 20,000 of thereplaced tires.i am not asking for anythingonly to advise of the situation.i am a retired state trooper from arizona so i know a little bit about tires, and i feel some one of concern should know about my experience.

Since dec. 5 2003 i have had all 4 tires on my cavalier replaced because the steel belts broke in the goodyear conquest tire size p195/70r14 with less than 25475 miles on the tires.these tires need to be recalled and taken off the market until good replaces them with a better built tire.i believe the goodyearconquest tire is a very dangerous tire and could cause a deadly accident and could have allready caused some.the worst thing that happened when my tires were replaced , they were replaced by thegoodyear conquest tire, which is like replacing deadly tires with deadly tire.today i had the last two replaced because of broken belts.

Noticed tread had started to separate from right and left front tires on my 2000 dodge grand caravan, steel belts showing at edges. Tire shows excessive wear at edges (however air pressure checked ok recently). Rear tires show little wear. Recent front alignment check (8/21/2001) within specs. Local authorized goodyear dealer refused to honor waranty for replacement tires. Left tire dot m6vfhkdr449, right tire dot m6vfhkdr449.(dot number: m6vfhkdr44tiresize: p215/65r15)

I have had to replace 1 goodyear conquest tire ,size is p195/70r14 because steel belts broke in several places with less than 25000 miles on tire.i believe these tires are very dangerous and could cause a serious accident.i think goodyear should replace the rest of the tires and should be recalled.

All of the original tires on the vehicle experienced tread separation.*jgph
