On june 4, 2011 my wife was driving a 2004 pontiac vibe on rt. 83 from pennsylvania into maryland where approximately 1/2 mile from the parkton, md exit, the car began to shake violently in the right lane of the highway.the driver front tire popped loose as it severed itself from the sidewall and literally rolled down the breakdown lane as the car was pulling to the side of the road.i have pictures of the tire.no debris was in the roadway and no objects were struck during this event. The approximate speed of the vehicle was 65-70 mph.the problem is that this is not the first time.in late november 2010, my wife was driving the same vehicle in rehoboth beach, de driving approximately 50 mph on rt. 1.the rear driver side tire suddenly burst and separated at the sidewall.the tires have been replaced.the latest tire was replaced by sears auto center in york, pawhere the old tire is being shipped back to goodyear (in response to roadside warranty).the tire sidewall rubber compound appeared very hard and brittle.the goodyear triple tread tires were purchased in 2008 and had approximately 30,000 miles on them.2 out of 4 tires had this unexplained sidewall blow out, another tire was replaced earlier because of a nail puncture.we decided to replace all tires with another model and get rid of our triple treads.we believe the tires to be unsafe and are concerned that others may be having the same problems.these are high end tires that are supposed last 80,000 miles with superior traction.
The contact owns a 2004 volvo xc70 equipped with good year assurance tripletred tires, size 215/65/r16. The contact was driving approximately 65 mph when the front driver side tire suddenly exploded. The driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and then coasted to the side of the road where the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was inspected by a tire dealer and they advised her that the tire was defective and that the ire possibly was not properly inflated, causing the failure. The front driver side tire was replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
Purchased four (4) goodyear assurance tripletred all season size 235/65r17 dot #pj81kd1r4111 from a goodyear corporate store.went to corporate store to repair a "slow air leak on passenger rear tire".store called stating that "piece of metal had damaged" tire and the other three tires "had a sidewall bubble from hitting potholes'.we live in a southern suburban area & have not had any major impacts with these tires.we took the vehicle to another authorized goodyear dealer who removed the tires, examined and stated separation is consistent with a manufacturer defect and did not see evidence of impact damage or abusive driving habits.contacted goodyear corporate offices and spoke with crystal who insisted warranty credit would only be given under "road hazard" and we could not "prove any defects".she also insisted that we had been hitting pot holes or had a hard impact with the tires.she also stated that if we contacted an attorney goodyear would not give us any warranty credit.
Tire blew out on the highway at 65mph. After inspecting the tire when returning home to determine root cause of the failure the valve stem was found to be cracked all the way through only attached by a small amount of rubber. Inspected other valve stems and all were found to be cracked almost all the way through. Tires were recently replaced in the summer of 2008.
Purchased and had mounted (4) goodyear assurance tripletred tires on or about 15apr2015 by ford dealer.90,000 mile maintenance, including routine tire rotation was completed by same dealer on 24jun2016.no damage or defects were noted by the dealer at that time.on 02jul2016, while driving on the the interstate at approximately 65mph, i noticed the low air pressure light come on and slowed my speed to 60 mph.within a few miles, i heard a thumping noise of a flat tire and pulled off onto the shoulder and awaited road assistance from aaa.aaa inspected the tire and saw no damage other than the sidewalls had blown, and suspected a defective tire.i took the defective tire to the ford dealer on 05jul2016 who also inspected and found no damage.the dealer kept the defective tire and i am awaiting further instruction from the dealer who has filed a report with goodyear.these tires had approximately 20,000 miles when this happened.i do not feel safe and fear continuing to drive on the three remaining goodyear assurance tripletred tires.
On november 28, 2015 my passenger front tire explosively failed coming out of a left turn at about 25 mph causing my car to drop and swerve, crashing into a tall street curb and storm sewer drain causing $2000 damage to my car. The outer sidewall separated circumferentially from the tread.this premium tire was only seven months old with minimal wear. I check my tire pressure and fluids every time i buy gas, overhauled the suspension that summer and didn't believe it was my fault. I took the tire still on the damaged wheel to a tire failure expert who ruled out pre-existing damage, unusual wear or signs of driving with low or high tire pressure; he stated there was a zipper failure resulting from a bad tire. This was the second goodyear assurance tripletred to fail on my car.i contacted goodyear and filed a claim with their property claims team. I had replaced the wheel and tire and got two conservative estimates. They required the tire to be taken off the wheel and shipped to them for inspection. Without explanation, it sat delayed at the goodyear tire and service center for weeks. The claim, #492513, was quickly denied; i received a letter which i followed up with a phone call to clarify. Goodrich claim's team stated that they were unable to determine why the tire blew out so they refused to honor the warranty.there were no signs of it being my fault but they also didn't find an obvious defect that would cause the blowout so they conveniently denied taking responsibility for their tire or the damage from the crash that resulted from it's failure.the manufacturer of a critical component like a tire can't just refuse to be responsible when it fails and they don't to know why. I was a lifetime loyal goodyear customer until this. I have the tire and wheel and photos and won't give up until they pay for the damages.
Tire valve stem failure.
Dear officer, i have purchased 2 sets of four tires (assurance tripletred, 215/70r15) in summer 2010 and 2011 (hyundai xg and kia sedona). I found that only one of tires shows a kind of cracks a lot on the side (i have the picture) relatively. I checked the date of manufacturing on the tire and found 'blank'. Three of four show the year and week (0923...). I also found that one of four tires in my another car has no date either. It's odd and suspicious to me. I have got them all from a goodyear store. I have some pictures to show the evidence. I am so scared when i realized that i have driven my cars on illegally updated or sold tires. [xxx]p.s. I already contacted goodyear and got feedback from my contact person at goodyear, saying that it's odd but can be happened.
