I purchased four goodyear assurance touring p225/60 r16 97t tires at sam's club in march 2011.these were installed on 2003 honda odyssey lx.vehicle, including tires, were well maintained; tires were balanced, rotated periodically and monitored biweekly for the correct level of air pressure.the wheels were aligned.the van is non-commercial; only family / personal use.after 26 months and 27900 miles, one of the tires failed unexpectedly while in use.there were no warning signs of impending failure.passenger side rear tire failed by blow-out at 65 mph. Vehicle including tires had been subjected to state safety inspection 16 days before the incident and had passed.nothing was noted about the condition of the tires on the occasion of the state inspection. The tires had been visually inspected by driver at the last fuel stop before the incident with nothing out of the ordinary observed.
The contact owns a 2007 honda odyssey, equipped with goodyearassurance touring tires, size: 235/65/r16. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the rear driver side tire failed. The vehicle was towed to a tire shop where the tire was replaced. The technicians determined that the failure was caused by a sidewall blowout. A goodyear dealer also inspected tire and advised that the blow out was caused by a low psi. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin and dot number were not available. The failure mileage was 105,065. The current mileage was 105,500. The approximate tire failure mileage was 200.
My goodyear assurance tires are 1.5 years old.i have to completely refill the air in all four tires every week.these tires are simply failing and it will not take long before i get in an accident........
Goodyear assurance touring tires dot lot identifier:mdxo jd1r 4109size: p225 60 r16purchased at sam's club, december 2010.i got four (4) of these tires on my 2002 ford windstar van, on december 23, 2010. Early in 2011, ford had my van for six (6) months (fixing several ford recalls with axles and suspension) so the tires didn't get much mileage until later in 2011. In 2012, i had one of the tires separate into chunks on the highway. There was no other damage, except the tire was history. I had it replaced with another tire of the same type/model. In july of 2013, i had two (2) more of the tires replaced because they were "cupping" and out of round. I had the van checked for camber, caster, and toe-in, and it was up to factory specs. No alignment necessary and tires were maintained with correct pressure. Today, (09/05/2013) i am having the 4th tire replaced, because it is becoming "out of round" and "cupping" (i believe). This failure causes a vibration that you would not believe. The last time sam's club replaced the tires (just two months ago in july 2013) the installer said that they "have had a lot of these tires spontaneously destroy themselves", and they opted to put goodyear assurance "fuel max" tires on, in lieu of the discontinued "touring" model. I checked goodyear's website, and the "touring" model is in fact, not discontinued. Maybe sam's club just stopped getting them because they're tired of replacing them?if sam's club has no confidence in the touring model (and is opting to replace them with the fuel max model) i am beginning to think that the last touring model tire (replaced in 2012) may destroy itself, as well.
I purchased 4 goodyear assurance touring p235/65r16 tires that were installed on 2005 honda odyssey lx. Vehicle was aligned and tires rotated, balanced, and pressure checked regularly.the tire was advertised with a 70,000 mile tread life warranty. At approximately 17,300 miles i noticed the tread on all 4 tires appeared to be separating from the tire when viewed from the side. I took it to original tire dealer who told me it was normal and there was nothing to worry about. At the next rotation, i again noted that the separation appeared to be getting worse.again i was told that this is normal.at 24,000 miles, and within 400 miles of a rotation and balance, the tires developed a very mild vibration, which has never completely gone away, even with further rotation and balance.at 45,000 miles, there were cracks (possibly dry rot) beginning to form all over the sidewalls of the tires.additionally, the tread had noticeable separation from tire. Lastly, the tires had worn to the 2/32 minimum tread depth.the tire dealer refused service or even prorate the tire towards new ones. I called goodyear, but they instructed me to deal with the tire dealer, as that tire was made specifically for them.the tire dealer refuses to acknowledge any problem, though they have now offered a minimal preporation amount which isn't enough to offset the cost of the installation of new tires.the dealer refuses to prorate based on actual mileage vs warranted mileage, although their written warranty policy states that is the way the warranty should be handled.
Tread became separated from 8 to 10 inches of tire exposing the steel belts. Caused an unsafe wobble while driving. Tire did not rupture. Issue was discovered quickly. Tire only 14 months old.
