We had four aquatred iii tires placed on the vehicle on march 28th.my wife and i couldnt pick up the car on the 28th, so we drove to mueller tire & brake store on the morning of march 29th.the phone number of the westlake store is: 440-899-1888.the address is 25409 detroit road, westlake, oh, 44145.after picking up the car at 9:17:54 a.m. (on the invoice), i was driving to work.i drove about 5 miles on i-90 eastbound towards downtown cleveland.i was driving about 60 to 65 miles per hour.i had just turned on my radio when i noticed that the tire noise seemed to be increasing.i turned off the radio, and started moving towards the right hand land.the tire noise continued to increase.i was hoping it was a precautionary measure, but i decided to get ready to pull off on the west 117th exit (exit number 166).my hopes of precaution disappeared when i started smelling burning rubber.i then looked in my drivers side rearview mirror and noticed that my left rear tire was belching smoke.the rear of the car started to shake.i pulled off a little ways onto the exit ramp.i then got out to see if i could possibly drive the car to a service station, but the tire was completely destroyed.the tread was ok, but the inner and outer sidewalls were completely shredded.im not quite sure how i was able to get the car off the highway. Today i had a flat tire, which is really not a big deal.i took the car to a tire dealership to have it repaired.imagine my surprise when i they showed me that 3 out of 4 of my tires (with only 11,000 miles on them) were separated near the inside rim of the wheel!if it wasn't for the nail that punctured my tire and flattened it, my family and i would be driving on freeways while the tires were just waiting to explode! I noticed a bump-bump-bump like running over rough road when i decided to slow down from 70 to about 55 and then it blew.i still have the last tire.two months ago, a sister tire blew under similar circumstances and we returned it to the local goodyear service center and the credited us some part of the cost of a new one (they said it still had 15-20,000 miles still left in tread).( dot number: mkvf5bhr03 tire size: p215/65r15 )
While making a sharp right turn right front tire suddenly deflated.rubber is torn from 1 inch into sidewall to 2 inches into tread.hole which caused flat is in the sidewall. (tiresize: p205/70r14)
After total failure of one tire, i took my vehicle into agoodyear service center and was informed that 3 of my 4 tires suffered from sidewall cracking.all four tires were purchased and mounted onto my van at 54381 miles on 22 august 1998.the defective tires were removed from my van when it had 85611 miles.the tires had collected a total of 31230 miles.i believe the tires were rated for 65000 miles.( dot number: tire size: p215/70r15 )
Failure at 40,000 miles on 80,000 mile goodyear aquatread replacement tires not original equipment 1normal driving. Months before hit speed bump at 20 mph. Another time vehicle was overloadedby 200 lbs for 7 miles.2 stess cracks on side wall of one of the aquatread tires,slow loss of air preasure intire.3 replaced all four tires at recomendation of manager at goodyear tire he explained he had never seen stress cracks on the side wall of a passenger vehicle tire in his 20 years experience.he had only seen them on truck tires . He thought it may be a manufacturers defect and sent the tires to goodyear for xray analysis. He also said its possible that a speed bump or overloading could cause this problem.
Tire blowout at 30mph, brand new goodyear aquatred 3, installed 2 days earlier.
After parking vehicle tirewent flat. Noticed separation on sidewalls. Please provide further information.
