The engine began stalling in 1999 and the problem continues to this day...i suspect the engine control module as it was a common failure from what i have learned.i do not know of a recall however.i took the car in to the dealer here in fremont as it seemed to be overheating and he said it was probably a blown headgasket as it was a recall problem.my car was past the 7 year limit by two months however.at this time the air conditioner has also quit.needless to say ford has lost my business forever.i couldn't believe the number of complaints i found on your sight .many of them seemed to be the same problems i have been experiencing.ford should monitor this list and they could see where the flaws were in this model if they cared.excellent sight which i will scan before buying my next vehicle. I noticed uneven wear on my tires. So, i stopped at a garage and i was told the tires were under inflated even though i had the tires at the recommending psi. I put the psi in that the technician recommended and the problem seemed to go away. I went in to have a routine oil change done at a local shop a year after this, and i needed to replace all 4 tires. They had worn down on the inside tread to the steel within only 26k miles. The vehicle has been driven conservatively, and mostly highway miles by my wife. So i put four new tires and had an alignment.

Removed originial unused spare tire from under frame location.the ford f-150 under frame mounting design caused 8wear points (from vibration) at least 3/16" deep into outer sidewall.this has created a potential unsafe tire blowout condition.i have had this truck for only 16 months (@16,295 miles) and find this new spare now unsafe and unusable.i would like this investigated and other owners notified of this situation if warranted.i will be contacting ukiah ford this week and i would like to have this tire replaced.contact me if needed.ken johannes.( dot number: tire size: 235-70r16 )

While performing schedule maintenance service, the dealership noticed that the front tires were wearing prematurely in the center, and rotated them. The tires wear is inconsistent with the air pressure.

Tire has a stress split/crack at the point of attachment of the sidewall in 4 places, a total of 4spilt/cracks are detected. They ordered a new tire from continental tire.( dot number: adhl2v7 tire size: p235/75r15 )

Left rear tire blew out at a speed of 10 mph while traveling straight on an asphalt road.a discernible hole was observed in the sidewall.upon inspection of the remaining tires, a soft spot was found in the outside sidewall of the right front tire.new tires (dayton timberline ht p255/70r16) were placed on the vehicle on 7/24/99 by myself since i was leaving town on that date for vacation.i was not comfortable driving on tires that had experienced 1 failure and were subject to a second failure.the chevrolet dealer refused to replace the tires, instead referring me to a general tire dealer.the closest general tire dealer was 25 miles away and was closed.i remain in possession of the defective general tires.i requested from the chevrolet dealer but did not receive a refund for the purchase of the new tires.( dot number: a3cudb2 tire size: p255/70r16 )

There has not been an actual failure to this point. However, the tires have indulations on the sidewalls which are visible to the naked eye and dramatic to the touch. (tiresize: p205/70r15)( dot number:tire size: p205/70r15 )

While driving 55mphsidewall separated from right rear tire, causing loss of control.original equipment for a 2001, chevrolet, silverado.

General, americantires lt350/75r16, dot adil, original equipment on a 1999, chevrolet, silverado with 48000.while driving 65 mph front passenger tire had tread separation, then, on 12 sep 2001while driving 65 mph, rear driver's tire had tread separation.

The tires on my 2000 chevrolet silverado p/u were found to have severe cracks in the tread are, the cracks were significant enough to warrent replacement by the tire dealer. The manufacturer agreed to prorate the tires, which was a significant expense on my part. The tread wear was minimal.i as the tire dealer if there was problem with these particular tires he said no. After having my tires replacedi personally inspected six 1999-2001 chev silverado 2wd ext cab pickups with the same general tires, of the six , with milage from 7,500-42,000, i found that five of the six had the same cracking in the same area as did the tires on my truck. While driving at 6omph front passenger's tiretread separated fromvehicle, causing damage to part ofwheel well.tire remained inflated. However, the tread separated completely from the vehicle. No one has seen the tire or vehicle as of yet.

Tire blowout with visible tread separation.blowout occurred at 30 mph while travelling within residential neighborhood.all four tires kept for further investigation. (dot number: a308443526tiresize: p235/70r16)

Driving down the interstate at 55 mph, all the tread came off my tire.the shrapnel caused $1200 worth of damage to my wheel well and gas tank.it tore off the tube from the gas tank which allows one to fill the tank.i lost control of the vehicle for a short time, but luckily i was in the right lane and maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the road.the tire didn't deflate.another tire went flat a month ago.it deflated in a parking lot and couldn't be replaced because all of the rubber had caused a lump on one side of the tire and completely fell apart after it was changed.a year ago, another"exploded" going approx. 30 mph.all of the tires had more than adequate tread left on them.we are submitting a property damage report to continental/general tires, 1440-l westinghouse blvd., charlotte, nc28273.we have also sent the tire from the 7/27/00 incident back to them.it is probably not covered by any warranty but it is odd that 3 of these tires failed in unusual ways.it is a miracle i was not injured from the last incident.i am lucky the fuel tank was not ruptured, only the fuel spout was missing and gasoline had not leaked out. I was not able to put gas in the tank.the tire with no tread looks like the firestone recall tires.have you investigated the general tires or had any complaints?( dot number: 2842006d tire size: p235/70r16 )

Tread separated fromrear tire, resulting in a collsion and damage tovehicle.please provide further details.

Tread separated from tire body - 3 tires on 3 separate occassions - separation occurred while moving at 55-60 mph.(dot number: a311c9b088tiresize: 245/75r/16)

My wife was driving the truck and the left rear tire fell apart.the tread separated from the tire and caused substantial damage to the truck.approximately 90 - 95 % of the tread came off, only a small piece was left on the tire.when she took it to our local tire dealer he inspected the tires and said some of the others were also showing signs of the same problem; tread / tire separation.through the dealer and general tire customer service i was given 4 tires at half price.i have subsequently tried to get reimbursement for the damage to my truck.at this point general tire is saying that the tire was damaged because the tire had been patched.my tire dealer who patched the tire is saying that they did the job according to the manufacturer's specifications.i am in the middle as each party is pointing to the other one.i have never had tires that were as bad as these.i bought the truck in 1997, one year old, with 7600 miles on it.i make it a practice to check the tires monthly and have the tires rotated annually.this truck is no exception to that practice.these tires at the time of failure were probably within 6 months of needing to be replaced as the tread was getting thin.given that the truck only had 20k miles on it does not speak very highly of the tread wear on these tires.i have a big problem with the tire manufacturer saying that they are not responsible for the damage.their tire separated and caused the damage.as the dealer stated to me and general tire there were other tires that had the signs of the same problem.if my wife had been going 55 - 60 mph towing our horse trailer i would hate to think of what might have happened.the bottom line is i feel these tires were deffective and the general tire should be held accountable for them.thanks for you assistance on this matter( dot number: ad11c9b206 tire size: lt245//75r )
