Two blowouts have occurred on this vehicle in about a year.in both cases, the tires had been inspected and properly inflated within a few days of the incidents (by two different shops).the first was a flat tire discovered in the morning, removal of the tire showed a 2+ inch gash on the inside sidewall of the tire, they had been rotated two days previous.the second occured while driving-- the tire fell apart while travelling on the new jersey tpke, 3 days before, i requested the pressure on the tires be checked during a routine oil change. Experience vibration between 40 and 70 mph, feels as though tires are skipping on road surface. Driver input is limited by the response of tires. All 5 tires were replaced, experiencing same condition again at 4,000 miles. Have returned to dealer regarding same problem, and am goingtor return once more as problem was not corrected. My father has a 2001 gmc sierra with the same problem, same size and model tires have been replaced 2 times, awaits third replacement. Coworker has 2002 silverado, same tires same problem. Both additional vehicles have under 5,000 miles. (tiresize: 255/70/r16)
At freeway speed we heard a loud bang, and the vehicle lifted up suddenly in the rear, followed by a loud slapping sound. I was able to keep control and get to the side of the road. The tire tread had completely separated from the tire. There is no evidence of puncture marks or other damage to the tire. When we got this vehicle from the dealership, i noticed "bulges" in the sidewalls of these tires and asked the dealer and was told this was normal. General should be forced to recall all these tires. Many were put on windstar minivans and this was a very violent separation that could have resulted in a major accident if someone with less experience was driving, or road conditions were wet or slippery! Tread separation-no excessive or abuse wear.(tiresize: p205/75r15)
While driving at 70 mph there was a loudnoise, pulled off the road, inspected the vehicle, and discovered the right front tire was on the ground.the tread was completelyg0ne.
Tread separated from the tire and caused the car to spend around and smash into a concrete wall with myself,my wife and 2 children,4 and 6. (tiresize: p20565r15)
