Pep boy replaced my flat tire with futura 2000 lte tire size p215/60tr16 for my car in nov. 2009. I drove about 15000 miles by may of 2011. The tire crack open at sidewall on the free way on 5/7/2011 . I did not hit any bump . No nails on tire. I am concerned about the possible defect of tire.

Driving on entrance ramp to highway when there was a violent shudder.car was difficult to steer (severe vibration). Pulled off on emergency shoulder.there is a large hole in tire sidewall. Sidewall was shredded.tread was not affected. 4500 miles on tires.tire was removed and spare tire was mounted.

The contact owns a 2002 dodge caravan.the vehicle has pep boys futura 2000 radial lte tires, size p215/70r/15.while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle vibrated drastically.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and it was discovered that the front driver side and both rear tires were separating.the tires have not yet been replaced.these were not the original tires on the vehicle.the vin and dot number were unknown.the failure mileage was 84,000 and current mileage was 86,906.

I purchased 2 brand new furtura 2000 lte from pepboys drove the car maybe 5 miles. Then sat in my driveway for the rest of the day. The next morning i had 2 front flat- both tires were leaking from the sidewall meets the treat.

Traveling on the interstate aproximatley 70 mph, the left rear tire tread separated.this resulted in a loss of control and the vehicleimpacted the guard rail.at this point the engine and transmission separated from the car as the car continued to spin down the road.the car came to a rest after approximately 3 spins, and the engine came to rest on the opposite side of the 3 lane interstate.

- the contact called to inform nhtsa that he receive a recall letter from pep boys on his tires, the cooper futura 2000 radial lte, size 225/60/r16. The contact stated thathe took his vehicle to pep boys to have them replace the tire because this is a pep boy recall, and they decline to do so.pep boys stated they were unaware of the recall.

The contact owns a 1997 oldsmobile cutlass.the contact received recall notice for the futura 2000 radial lte tires.the remedy listed was to replace the tires in 60 days.the driver side front tire blew out. Pep boys stated that the recall expired , and she would have to pay the full price to have the tire replaced.

Tire blowout on highway 505. The tread came off the back left tire of my dodge grand caravan. We pulled over and got aaa to come. There is $1967.00 worth of damage to my vehicle which includes damage to fender, gas cover and cap, and paint damage. Jb

The contact owns a 1998 honda civic.while driving 55 mph, the contact heard a thumping noise and lost control of the vehicle.it was discovered that the tread had separated on the driver side rear futura 2000 radial lte tire.the road conditions were dry.the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence.the vehicle was examined by the insurance company.the tire manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to send them the tire for an investigation.there were no injuries.the vin, engine size, purchase date, and # of cylinders were unavailable.the current mileage is 104,000 and failure mileage was 30,000.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 55 mph on a clear dry highway with smooth pavement, a loud noise was heard and a large section of tread was seen trailing behind.the vehicle was pulled to the side of the highway.on inspection of the tires, it was discovered that the right rear tire had failed.the center tread/belt section of the tire had separated.the service dealer and manufacturer were not notified.

Events:significant vibration from right rear of car at high speeds, audi a6 at speeds above 45 mph. Failure: 2 of 4 futura 2000 tires on car showed what service manager described as belt slippage or separation.one tire was visibly oval in shape when turned on dealer balancing apparatus and second had abnormal wear patterns.other 2 tires appeared okay.set of 4 tires were purchased at same time in mid 2005 and were used approximately50000 miles , 70000 mile tire, purchased 4 new tires.dealer kept 2 defectives and i kept 2 better tires.

Tread came off left rear tire while on rt 85 north of atlanta ga.

-the contact purchased 2 futura 2000 radial lte tires in 2005 and 1 in 2006 from pepboys.the tires had a lifetime warranty on rotation and balancing.all 3 tires shredded within a six month period of time.the contact went back to pepboys and purchased new tires and they kept the old tires.the contact has sincereceived a safety recall and know longer has the old tires because pepboys kept them and they had the dot number which the contact needs to be reimbursed.

Dt*:the contact stated while traveling 70 mph the passenger front tire blew out.the vehicle was pulled over and the tire was changed.the tire was taken back to the automotive shop where it waspurchased, but they were unable to determine the cause of the tread separation.updated 5/28/2006 -
