The subaru forrester was purchased on 8/25/2000.the above tire (and 3 other tires) were brand new on the vehicle which showed 24,900 miles on the odometer.these tires have had excellent care and we have been especially careful to maintain the correct air pressure. The tire failed suddenly, that is went entirley flat in about 5 seconds at 55 mph.as far as we know, the tire was not punctured just prior to the failure.both poquet auto and the local firestone dealer promptly worked with us to replace the tire and rebalance the new unit at no cost to us. We are grateful for their quick service and cooperation. While we have had excellent service from past sets of firestone tires on previously owned automobiles, we are somewhat concerned about the road worthiness of these tires considering the recent publicity regarding firestone tires of this model in the r15 series. We do not expect any action on the part of the nhtsa, firestone, or poquetbut thought it best to report this unexpected tire failure. (dot number: unknowntiresize: p225/60r16)

The tires show no other unusual signs of wearbut do show signs of separation beside the tread the vehicle has 28000 miles on it and i think that it is totally unacceptable for this to be happening at this mileage.thankfully i noticed the problem before any unfortunate event happened whilst driving.

My tires indicate the start of a tire separation especially on the front axle.i can see the steel in the tire that has approximately 70% tread left.i keep my tires close to 40 lbs of pressure as indicated on the tires.the start of the separtion is at the edge of the tires.my tires are the same tires that i purchased the vehicle.with 28,000 miles, why should i see signs of separtion? my size and type of tire is not part of the recall.have you had any incidents with this tire:firestone - wilderness ht - 235/70r16 (dot number: w208tiresize: 235/70r16)

Tread separation - tires replaced by dealer mike davidson ford, jacksonville, fl.firestone contacted - stated that tire is not included in recall - only subject to standard warranty; requested that tire that failed be shipped to firestone, norcross, ga for inspection.with this tire failure, i had 4 tires replaced with another brand as a safety issue.(dot number: w2uuipo237tiresize: p225-70r15)

The tires started to wear in an odd cupping shape after checking tire pressure constantly to verify this was not the cause of the wear. Additionally multiple alignments had been performed to also verify this was not the cause of the wear. After driving for weeks later, the tire failed at 35 mph in a busy suburban state route intersection. After pulling aside and replacing the tire, i discovered a delamination of the tread. I had inspected the tires and had seen another starting to show signs of delamination. I immediately started to price tires. I contacted firestone about the issue and was told the tire is not on the recall. Three days later, and the other tire is clearly delaminated. I feel because of the low miles on the tires, the constant and proper preventable maintenance performed, the tires should be replaced.

There were 2 separate tire defects that after goin from1 mazda dealer to 1 firestone dealer back to a second mazda dealer then finally had the problem tire replaced fee of charge by a second firestone dealer. The defective tire first dropped a 2inch by 2inch section of tread right off of the tire. It was located on the inside tread section and only in one spot. While i waited for the replacement tire to be ordered and received and guaranteed by the firestone dealer(2210 w ridge rd rochester ny 14626)that the tire was safe to drive on and no other problems should arise the tire began to rip along a seam on the sidewall directly opposite from the missing section of tread. This obviously could of lead to a tire failure or worse. The dealer appologized and quickly replaced the tire with a similiar tire except the new one has white outlined letters as per firestone dealer originals don't and they are only avalable from the mazda/ford factory???? My tires are not recalled, but they are listed on the dangerous list, there are chunks of rubber falling off of them. I contacted the local firestone and he offered to sell me some tires for 'real cheap'. Yeah i bet they are real cheap. I do not think that these tires are safe to drive on. They only have like 10k miles on them, so i dont think that it should be my responsibility to pay for firestones mistakes. I am very unhappy with firestone and would like some advice about what i can do to correct the situation. J sass( dot number: tire size: p235 )

With less than 1,000 miles on a brand new subaru outback, i had an unexplained flat tire (no nail/screw/obvious damage)on my way to work. I live in the florida keys where it is pretty warm but where the maximum speed limit is 55mphand mostly much less.there are few high speed (highway) miles on my tires.having said that, i drove to port orange (daytona beach), florida to see my father who recently had surgery and on the way home (only 8 miles into the return trip) i suddenly got a vibration in the ride. I was doing the speed limit of 70mph on the interstate i-95.i pulled over and checked my tires and didn't see anything and so assumed the problem was the road.i then drove a short distance and changed lanes but the vibration didn't go away so i kept to a lower speed (around 50) and took the next exit where i pulled into a parking lot and did a detailed examination of my tires.what i found was a raised area on the tread of the front left (driver's side) tire. It was approximately 12 inches long and 2 1/2 to 3 inches wide.it was difficult to detect visually because it was not raised very high but was easy to detect by running my hands around the tread of the entire wheel.i checked all other tires and didn't notice a problem so i located (with the telephonic assistance from my parents) a firestone dealer back in port orange where i had just come from and drove there. At first the guy in charge told me i would have a 2 hour wait since he had lots of paying customers in front of me but after explaining (rather forcefully) that this was an emergency problem due to a defective product and that i had an 8 hour drive ahead of me that his product had already delayed by at least 1 1/2 hours he finally told me he would get me in the bay in an hour.at first, he was only going to replace the one tire. They will not replace the tires and say it is a firestone problem. I feel the tires should be replace because i don't have confidence in the tires anymore and feel they are dangrous to drive on. On october 12, 2001, i was traveling north on interstate 95 through north carolina in my mazada tribute 2001.this was a sunny day so the road was dry and i was traveling 70 mph with cruise control.i was approaching the exits for the rocky mount area when my entire car started shaking furiously.then the whole left side of my car seemed to suddenly drop.i immeadiately pulled over.when i got out of the car to take a look, i noticed that it was not just a flat, but that the entire tread had seperated from the sidewalls.i took the tire into a firestone dealer where they proceeded to tell me that tires always respond this way when they go flat and charged me for a new tire.they did not seem concerned at all.after they had finished replacing the tire, i asked for the original tire which they told me was already destroyed and that i could not have it back.this was a wilderness ht p235/70r16 but when firestone replaced it they used a wilderness ht ii. The right rear tire sidewall completely separated form the remaining part of the tire on 4th of july, 2001, as my family and i were returning home at approx. 8:25 pm on i-37 n to san antonio. Before the tire seperated, my fiance and i heard a very loud grinding noise- during which time i immediately let off the gas. About 30 seconds after we first heard the noise, the truck violently fishtailed in the rear end, and i proceeded to gently apply the brakes until we came to a stop. That night while i was working my nightshift- i contacted ford motor company who told me to speak to my dealership. The following morning, my dealership informed me that this new tire had seperated due to a small puncture in the tread. Firestone refuses to replace this new tire, as this truck was sold to me without road hazard coverage on this tire. I am very upset because this is a safety issue- i have had other flats on other vehicle that i owned without the tires seperating while driving. Please investigate this matter- i fail to believe that this is the normal reaction of a tire with a minor 2mm punction in the tread. My tire mechanic where i took this tire to obtain a 3rd opinion agrees with my assessment in this matter. I value his judgment above all, he has nothing to gain by giving me a false statement, whereas my dealership, and firestone obviously have plenty to lose in admitting that this tire may be a manufacture's defect. My concern is that these tires aren't safe.i replace all the tires on my pickup at my expense.fortunately, in this case the road traffic was light and i was able to coast to a stop withou applyin the brakes.the situation might have been differnent had the blowout occured five minutes later when i would have been on interstate 95 driving 70 miles per hour on a crowed road.i am submitting this report because there might beproblem with this model of tires.i don't think the firestone dealership did their job and weren't interested in any of the details.dan pietz.(dot number: w2uuipo 10tiresize: p225/70r15)

I was driving on hwy. 40 going 68 miles per hour when the right front tire just popped off. I got control of the truck and made it to the side of the hwy. Because there were cars all around me when the incident occured i could not get off the road quickly enough and thus so causing the entire rim to be destroyed. The tire came off in one big ring and flew into the highway causing traffic to have to go around it at a high rate of speed. I had to dodge traffic that was already having to go around to the side of the road i had to be on to get the tire out of the pathof on comming cars. I retreived the tire and kept it to investagate if it was a recall or not. I had an accident on 5-12-04 when one of the other tires just like that one had blown out and caused my truck to roll and skid down the hwy. Ending upside down. I had to go to the emegency room and be checked out. I sustained scrapes and brusies and broken ribs. I didnt think it would be the tires since these were not the tires that had the recall on them. But after the other tire blew i figured it needed looking into.i had to have my truck repaired through my insurance company and pay the deductables for it to be done. I paid for two tires and a rim replacement. The internet said that there was a volentary recall on the tires that i had and gave me a number to contact them about it but when i called the lady said it was not one that is one the list. I wanted to file this complaint so that if there were others out there that have had the same problem maybe they will recall these also before someone gets hurt real bad or losses a life. There tires should not be allowed on the roads.

It all started with i pulled over due to severe steering difficulties.found tire flat.contacted discount tire company and they said the tire steel belts busted.they said had i not pulled over i probably would have crashed the vehicle and potentially died due to the severity of the blowout.i called firestone and they refused to replace the tire or deal with the problem.i called the dealer and they tried getting firestone to pony up to the problem to no avail.i showed the tire to two other tire retailers and they said it was a defective tire - that such separation should not occur after 31 miles.i had my husband then go to the dealership and firestone to discuss the problem to no avail.i finally, fearing for my safety, had them put new tires on all four wheels (bf goodrich radial t/a).i figured if firestone wasn't going to own up to their problems it would take my death for someone to do something.i am not willing to take that risk.i am reporting this now because i did not know whom else to report it to other than the better business bureau.i listened to the hearings and decided to submit this report.i suggest you check nationwide with the tire replacement dealers if you really want an accurate number of how many blowouts/tire failures have really occured.the dealership would not even list or deal with ours since there was no property damage and no fatalities..(tiresize: p215/75 r1)( dot number:tire size: p215/75 r1 )

I purchased a new f-150 xl in august 1997 with factory firestone wilderness ht tires.the original set lasted 1 year until i had a blow out on the rear, driver-side tire.there was a complete tire separation down to the rim within seconds (10).i brought the tire to discount tire in lake charles,la to have it replaced with the matching tire.the new tire was placed in the same location and because the three other tires still only had ~15,000 miles, no rotation was performed.aprroximately 1 month later, with only 3000 miles of tread wear, i had a remarkably similar blow-out and tread separation at 65 mph, just driving down the interstate in a careful, straight direction.i returned to discount tire and explained that i had just recently purchased the tires and that i believed the tires must be defective because this was my second complete tire separation on the same location of my vehicle under non-extreme driving conditions.i inquired as to whether it could be a defect in the tire or the vehicle.he reassured me that this was an impossibility.my second blow-out within 1 month was only a coincidence. I had to pay the nominal tread-wear fee and the mounting fee.less than about 6000 miles later, i had a blowout at the exact same tire well(right rear).the manager once again convinced me that i must be running over debris on the interstate, even though i was always in the slow lane and not veering with my right tire onto either shoulder.the manager once again convinced me that the likelihood of three defective tires was next to impossible (although, this time, he replace and mounted my tire for free). To shorten my story, after many futile attempts and about ten hours of waiting at this incompetent store, over three visits, they replaced my tire for free with a wilderness at on the right rear tire location and i left it at that. The wilderness at never blew out from 30,000 to 45,000 miles while i still owned my truck.
