Tires were replaced because of cupping on all four tires.(dot number: w29vawi049tiresize: p265/75r15)
All four tires had cracks in the tire thread. One tire had 14" split, second tire had 4" split, third tire had numerous 1" splits and the fourth tire many 1/2" splits. Local firestone dealer stated road hazard caused splits. Olsen tires (purchased road hazard protection) stated tires were defective, splits in threads were not caused by road hazard and tires were worn out. Replaced firestone tires with four new cooper tires purchasedfromaction gator tire dealer. I have the four old firestone tires in my possession for observation by nhtsa or firestone. (dot number: vn08tiresize: p235-70r16)
An independent noticed that all 4 tires were cupping while performing routine maintenance on the vehicle.
While traveling andwithout any indicationtire had a blowout. Please provide further information.
The tires were disintegrating and caused the vehicle to ride extremely rough and choppy. The tires felt less smooth.firestone admitted that the tires felt choppy and refused replacement.the problem worsened as time went on. *sc
I have not had a failure yet, but the cracks that are showing up on all four of my tires, down at the base of tread lugs, is very worry some. The cracks have become more pronouced over the last 3 monthes. When i took them to a firestone dealer, they said that this model was not under recall, and the could pro rate a new set for me. If it had been one tire i would have thought it a fluke, any manufacturer has. All four tires developing the same problem sounds more like a real problem.thanks for your time. I have 3 usa made 31x10.50r15lt m/s load range b and one canadian made 31x10.50r15lt m/s load range c (don't know why firestone dealer did not provide all load range b's) tires that all have a crack approximately 60% of the way up the sidewall that runs completely around the tire.the cracks are deepening over time.i bought these tires new and they have been maintained by firestone approximately every five thousand miles per the warrenty.i have maintained my truck meticulously and tire pressure is checked at least twice monthly.i have seen this crack on many wilderness at iii tires in parking lots.i think these tires should be recalled also.http://www.bridgestone-usa.com/news/00815b.htm shows 137 claims against this tire as of 8-22-00 already and doing a straight ratio with the recalled tires equates to approximately 6 deaths on this tire.why is it not included in this recall?not enough deaths yet?as a minimum they should be replaced free of charge under firestones workmanship and materials warranty. One tire located on the right rear developed a crack in the sidewall, going completely around the right rear tire in the same line as the tire size.this tire also has a crack beginning to form at the outer base of the tread.after having the tires removed i found a hairline crack beginning at the base of the tread on the inside of another tire. I'm not sure where the tire was located on the vehicle, because they had already been removed and weren't marked.the other two tires dot vd 60 aw4 108 show signs that a crack may be beginning to form on the outer sidewall but show no obvious failure at this point.i had the tires replaced in concern for safety and have them in storage pending recall or warranty adjustment.the complete tire size is 31x10.50 lt r15.the box wouldn't take this many letters in the questionaire.if anyone has questions concerning the tires, since they are not under recall, they need to contact me promptly.i must return them for adjustment if they are not recalled.
