Mounted as a 98% tread tire on left rear this tire failed on a curve, blew out the brand new valve stem, because of extreme pressure. It tore the undamaged valve stem open at the rim.this almost caused an accident due to control loss of stability.(dot number: vdhlfox445tiresize: p235/75r15)
Right rear tire had been repaired with four string-plug only repairs.there was no patch on the inner-liner as recommended by the rma. *laas a result of the improper plug-alone repairs, air was allowed to migrate into the carcass of the tire; resulting on a tread separation.while driving the right rear tire blewout.as a result the vehicle veered to the left and into the grass median.the right rear of the vehicle became air borne and caused the right front to strike the dirt.the vehicle then overturned traveling app 41 feet then landing on it's top.a result of this accident the consumer is a paraplegic.(florida traffic crash report).
Had a complete blowout on right rear in july 2000.because the tire was destroyed, i assumed the blowout was due to road hazard.the tires are not "branded" firestone.the second blowout occurred with 35psi cold pressure (i had checked them before we left on the trip) after 100 miles of driving at 60-70 mph.the van was not loaded, and it was a cool day.the tire developed a shake, thumping noise, then the tread separated.the tread peeled off the casing like an orange peel, tore out the inner fender and gas filler neck. Tread wrapped around the axle and emerg brake cable, causing wheel lock-up and skid.tire stopped on good tread, so did not blow out.i cancelled the 911 call when i found i could unlock the wheel and install the spare tire.contacted firestone, and they said it isn't one covered under the recall.2 tires remain on the vehicle.waiting for insurance adjustment, estimated $1283 increase in insurance over next 3 years due to this claim, and $500 deductable. Tire developed a large egg shaped bubble on right, outside half of tread area. Not on sidewall but directly on the thread.the vehicle started to rock violently from side to side causing the right front end to dip and rise rapidly. I stopped immediately and observed this bubble. I drove the rest of the way home, approximately 2 miles. At 10 mph. When i arived home the tire then deflated but it did not burst. The tire is flat but intact. Is this a tire you would be interested in testing or checking out? please advise. I can see from my experience how the car could over turn due to this increasing violent rising and dipping of the front end. If this occurred on a dip and the brakes were applied i believe it would cause the vehicle to roll over very quickly. Thanks john.
