I have a temporary spare that has never been used & came with the car when i purchased it new. On november 21, 2006, i discovered my right front passenger side tire was plat & changed it, installing the emergency flat (which had never been used). I headed to the ntb tire store to purchase a new tire. After driving only 2 ,miles, the emergency tire exploded. I had to call aaa & be towed to the tire store. The tire that exploded:firestone tiempa spare t115/70r14 88mi had to buy a new tire. Now, i also have to buy a new rim + tire to serve as my spare.i feel that, although the car was old, the emergency spare, never used, was defective, and either gm (saturn) or firestone should be held liable for replacement. This unsafe tire should never have been installed as the original equipment spare. I have saved the tire for inspection by any party.
Firestone, lt26575r161231200; replacement tires on a woldwood, rockwood 1995, dot vnw81xm018.passenger's side rear tire tread came off, tire stayed inflated.please provide any further information.
Motorhome tires were regularly maintained and had been checked just 50 miles before blowout occurred and were at correct operating pressure.a slight vibration started just seconds before total tire failure, i started to slow and pull over but not before the tire sidewall came apart and the wheel well walls were severly battered causing a lot of damage to sheilding, wires, and nearly rupturing the gas filler pipe.i'm very fortunate it was a rear dual tire, not a front one.
On two seperate occasions within the last two years, i have had two firestone tires cause damage to my vehicle via complete blow out and seperation. I am one of the fortunate ones that are hear to tell of my near catastrophes involving firestone tires. Farmer insurance repaired my vehicle the first time and sent the blown tire ( what was left ) to firestone and a letter was sent to farmers indicating that low tire pressure was the cause.the second tire was seperated in march of 02 and once again damaged my vehicle.once again, i received the responce back. It was the same old story. Improper air pressure. My vehicle is driven an average of 700 miles per week. My tires are maintained by flyin j truck centers and my air pressure is documented frequently as required. I am under the belief that insufficient air pressure is the standard answer given by firestone to neglect compensation for damages which occur by their faulty tires. This trend is very alarming and i am hoping that your department can get involved into a resolution. I am very disturbed because first of all, firestone is able to inspect their own tires with no independant agency overseeing the process. Also having a paralegal on staff to sign the documents so the general public is thwarted from responding. I will be happy to forward via fax, all documentation regarding this matter. I have contacted all agencies including, fox news, nevada attorney general, private council, senators harry reid and john ensign, and the u.s. Dept. Of transportation. I am not going to stop my campaign until firestone stands up and takes the responcibility for the damages due to faulty workmanship of their tires. I believe firestone intends to see if this issue gets swept under the carpet. Please advise me of your receipt of this complaint and a fax number where i can forward any correspondence. Thank you for your attention in this matter and i will wait to hear back.

My wife and i had originally purchased four tires for my father-in-law's trailer. He did not like the tires, so we returned to the store and had four passenger tires mounted on the trailer. Unbeknownst to us, the tires that we exchanged for were ten and twelve years old at the time of purchase. We found this out only after having two blow-outs.

Firestone steeltex radial tire [lt245/75r16] [load range e m/s] tread separated [driver side rear of 2002 chevrolet silverado 3/4 ton heavy duty pick up] while towing a fifth wheel trailer at 65 miles per on interstate i-75 in kentucky.it sounded like driving on the grooves used to warn drivers they are going off the road.then the rear of the truck began to move slightly left/right.we were just starting up a long, steep hill in the slow lane and were able to pull over onto the shoulder in a good spot where people could see us.many drivers came close, but we were not injured.a trucker stopped to help us.he said it looked like the tire had dry rot.maybe a foot of tread near the side wall came loose.a small chunk [3''] was also loose.the tire collapsed completely.i feel we might have lost control if we had been passing or going down hill.i checked inflation just a few days earlier.*nlm
