Tire separation firestone/bridgestone tires came as original equipment with 2002ford tauras was traveling on lie and the drivers side tire seperated causing damage to my wheel well, bumper and fender.
On 5/19/08, another employee informed me that my rear driver's side tire was flat in our company parking lot.i am a member of aarp motoring plan and called to have the flat changed.a company called roadrunner road service was dispatched.the employee, raheem, from roadrunner road service told me that for an addition $20, he could plug the tire, reinflate it and put it back on the car.i went back into my plant to get the addition money to pay for the repair and did not see him place the tire back on the car.everything appeared fine with the tire when i paid him the addition monies.when i left at the end of the day, approx. 3 hours later, the tire was still inflated and appeared normal.as i was driving a short distance the tire was making a horrible sound.it sounded like it was flat again.i pulled over but the tire still looked inflated and normal.i thought that the plug just needed to be driven on.it continued to make the horrible noise and shaking so i took my car to firestone.one of the mechanics took it for a test drive and stopped immediately.he got my tire iron out of my truck and tightened the lug nuts.he stated that the person who put my tire back onto the car forgot to tighten the lug nuts and the tire was ready to fall off.he also stated i was lucky that i did not have an accident.i called roadrunner road service, 918-443-2054 or 215-949-9727, immediately the next day, 5/20/08, and spoke to a kim.she took my complaint and told me her manager would call me back immediately.i have called 6 times in the last 8 days and get the same answer, "my manager has your number and will call you back.she even gave me the number for the repairman, raheem, 610-202-6389 and he was rude and refused to address my complaint to take responsibility.this was a very dangerous situation over simple neglect.i expect some acknowledgement and reimbursement of the $20, i still had to go to another service facility to have the problem fixed.
Tires are firestone eagle p205/55/16. I have had trouble with a front shimmy since i purchased the vehicle. I have had it looked at and had re-balancing and wheel alignment to no avail. The reason i suspect the tires is that i had some firestone tires in the past do exactly what i am expereincing.i purchased the car used with 15000 miles on it.the original owner was expereincingthe same shimmy. The car at slower speeds begins to rock from side to side.i was told the last time that i had it looked at, that there was something wrong with the tires.
P205/70r15, while looking over tiresnoticed layer of rubber peeled off around dot number. Consumer is able to stick finger in hole. Please provide further information.
Both tires were firestone steeltex radials r4s; the dot number is for the blowout on 12/31/01; i did not keep the tire that blewout in october so i do not have a dot number; however both tires were oridinal equipment so the first tire had to be manufactured at the same place as the second tire. (dot number: vd1l 1xdtiresize: lt225/75r1)
Sidewall failure: firestone precision touring, p225-60r16 m+s. Dot:8xx0 r3d. The tire was sitting in driveway for a couple of weeks. I noticed the tire pressure went down to about 10 pounds. I filled the tire back up to 36 pounds. Two days later the tire was again down to about 15 pounds. I refilled the tire, went to have the tread checked for a puncture. Nothing found. The next morning the tire was flat. On refilling the tire, i felt and heard air escaping from the tire. I felt around and found about a 3/4 to 1 inch split in the sidewall. There was no [hysical damage to the tire, it was the left front tire.i am thankful this happened now, as we were planning to take a trip to alaska through canada in a couple of months. 2002 chevrolet impala.
My wife and i had a firestone "firehawk ss wl" passenger car tire come apart while we were traveling at freeway speeds on interstate 5 in northern california on june 25, 2000.we filed a claim with firestone tire on july 3, 2000 after the tire was inspected at the local firestone store where it had been purchased.i was referred to an "ed" at the bridgestone/firestone techno center and was told i had to return the tire for their inspection.scott at scott & smitty's firestone, packaged the tire and sent it to the techno center in june 2000.i then submitted the required (1) incident report, (2) a copy of the preliminary estimate" from courtesy motors (for damages to the automobile), (3) a copy of the replacement tire invoice from scott & smitty's firestone (chico, califormin), and (4) photos of the tire and damage to the automobile.i received no response from firestone after june 27, 2000.i sent them another letter on september 1, 2000 and sent the nhtsa a letter on september 5, 2000.i sent a third letter to firestone on january 2, 2001.to date, i have not received a response from either organization.
3 blown tires w/steering and body damage, near roll over.i have all the blown tires.
Tire pressure on other tires after blowout:left frt. 47 psi, right frt 46 psi, right rear 68 psi, spare 50 psi.recommended tire pressure from data plate is front 50 psi and rear 80 psi. (dot number: vnw81xm130tiresize: lt26575r16)
While driving aprx. 55mph back passenger tire sidewall blew, causing me to lose control of my vehical (sedan) and going into a spin (tire size:p205/70r15 95s),(dot: w2m0 r3b), (model type: steel belted radial), (make: firestone fr360). I have 2 young children that where in the vehical with me. In the event that i was not extremly well trained in defensive driving my belief is that the vehicle would have rolled. These tires have less then 400 miles on them. The two front tires are showing bubbles on sidewall. Driver back tire has seperation where the sidewall meets the tread,(this seperation is very thin and hard to see unless you are at eye level with the tire). I find that firestone has a serious problem with there manufactoring of tires, so therfor i will no longer be purchasing tires from this company in the future.

Ltr fm norman andresen(ca) re a faulty firestone tire (steel belt radial r4s lt225-75r 16 m/s) on his lazy daze motor home...*mrthe consumer experienced a blow out due to tread separation.the consumer had just checked the tire pressure and everything was fine prior to the incident.*scc
Consumer experienced five occasions of tread separation of the firestone steel belted radials that were on the vehicle.*mjs
The tire tread (on a tire with 50% usable tread remaining) separated causing approximately $1,500 damage to my vehicle.bfnt responded to my claim by claiming the separation was due to low tire pressure.they have not provided evidence to back this assertion.
