Sidewall puncture to left rear tire.driver lost control, right rear tire debeaded, vehicle rolled three times and landed on passenger side against interstate guardrail.( dot number: tire size: p235/75r15 )
Myself and 4 others were northbound on i-35 near overland park, kansas, when the right rear tire of the vehicle suddenly failed.the tread separated from the core, and the steel belted cords separated.there were no adverse driving conditions at the time of the accident.we were not speeding, and the temperatures were not extreme.the tread depth was 11/32 at the time of the accident, which is like new.the tire failure resulted in significant property damage, extreme physical injuries and death.( dot number: vd66yfn tire size: 30x9.5r15 )
Blowout-feel fortunate / firestone said it wasn't their tire, but i looked it up on the web and there is a story about this tire being subject to investigation. They only authorized an inspection. I will not let them have the tire. (dot number: hyhyt71187tiresize: p215/75r15)
I own a 1994 mercury villager that was given to us back in 2005 after we lost everything in hurricane katrina.complainedabout thefirestone seiberling tires that were on this vehicle. Seiberling trailrider radial,lt p205 75 r15/ms. I recently replaced the 2 front seiberlings tires on april 29, 2007due to the front driver'sside having tread separation. I kept the seiberling tires on thefront passenger's sideas a spare.still had 2 seiberling tires on the rear of the vehicle. Well,today my wife was taking my daughter to work and the driver's side rear tirehad a catastrophic tread separation at highway speed. 55 mph. Shedid all she could do to keep the vehicle from flipping off the road. She managed to get the van stopped by crashing into the soft gravel ditch, and no one was injured. The driver's side rear quarter panel was dented and scuffed badlyfrom the tire debris,and the tread that flew off also brokethe tail light. The plastic shroud surrounding the gas filler tube inside the rear wheel wellbroke. I have photos and the tiresathome. Please contact me if you have any further questions. Two tires failing in two weeks has me concerned. Now, i have to replace the rear tires as well .
