Since purchasing this vehicle on march 2, 2001, we have had threeblowouts with these firestone original equipment tires.the first one happened before the car had been driven 2,000 mi.this tire had to be replaced by owner - dealer said it was not covered by the warranty.the second blow-out happened at approximately 8,000 mi. And that tire was able to be fixed.however, last evening we had our third blow-out and the tire is completely "shot" and will need to be replaced.i believe there has to be a defect in the tires; we have never had blow-outs in any of our previous vehilcles/tires. 2003 subaru legacy, purchased in july, 2003, with four firestone p20555r16 tires (potenza re 92, m+s). Left front tire blow-out @ 70 mph on interstate while passing a semi, with vehicles behind on both sides.awd system enabled me to safely move into the right lane and off the road. Tire fully exploded, with only rim left.took car to dealership, tire under warranty, but dealer would not replace under warranty, even though the tread was not worn (22,000 miles), based on circumference measurement of tire compared to spare which is supposed to be the same circumference.in 30 years of driving, i never experienced a tire blowout, and this is the first time i've had firestone tires on a car.the auto dealer informed us, as well, that all 4 tires would need to be replaced due to the awd system, and none would be under warranty even though these are new tires with little tread loss.
Ford focus is not even a year old and front left rim is starting to bend, which is causing the tire to bubble.took the car to the dealership, they said even though under warranty they would not replace the tire.the dealership would not work with us whatso ever. I believe the rim and the tire is a defect. Very frustrated!!!

I had the tread separate from this tire on our 1995 ford windstar van while going through atlanta, ga. 10/18/05. The flying debris bent the muffler up into the back right quarter panel of our van and caved in the wheel well. The inertia switch was tripped so the vehicle wouldn't start. We had to be towed to a ford dealership.
