Replacement of firestone tires initiated by recall of 2/26/04.having replaced these tires in 2001 at 21,622 miles because of safety concerns, i am now ineligible for reimbursement because of having done so.rather, it seems, i should have waited until the tires had malfunctioned and then, if i had survived, filed for reimbursement. Such perverse logic by firestone should be overturned and i call on the nhtsa to have firestone reverse its position.

Firestone, lt26575r16,123/120q dotvnw81xl:while traveling 50 mph without any indication rear tire had a blowout. Please provide further information.

Repeated tire blow outs, one in june 2003, one in september 2003,same truck, same tire location, same brand tire.

While driving s/b interstate 5 - 11:00 am at 65 mph south of las vegas, i had a tread seperation of the left rear tire (single rear) causing damage to left rear quarter panel and tail light.

I was driving mid day in az in my f-250 xlt crew cab truck when i noticed a slight vibration. I changed lanes and it did not go away. I started to slow down whenbam the tire blew. I got over to the shoulder of the road and inspected the tire. It did not lose air at all only the tread had delaminated from it. However the tread had torn up the side of my vehicle as well as the chrome nerf bars and the wheel wells themelf. I then made the decision to drive on the tire to the next stop thatwas only 4-5 miles ahead to change the tire in the shade and well away from heavy traffic. Once in tucson i did not drive the vehicle again until the return trip home. At approximately 60 miles from tucson another vibration occured. I slowed down and exited the interstate and inspected all four tires. They appeared normal and continued on my way when the right rear tire blew 2-3 miles later. The tire lost the tread too but also shredded it self and lost all air. I had to call a tow truck to be towed to phoenix. At this time there have been no repairs or corrections. The truck is under assessment by legal counsel and dealership estimates.

I was driving my just purchased 1999 gmc suburban home to indiana from arizona. It had firestone lt26575r16 tires on it. The tread separated on the two front tires. First the drivers side completely separated and flew off and hit my side mirror and knocked it off the side of the truck. 8 hours later i started to feel the same vibration i did right before the last one, so i pulled over and the front passenger tire was bulging and there was a crack right were the tread was ready to separate. I immediately put my last spare on and drove to a tire center to have all four tires changed. I kept the two tires that separated. *nlm

I have a 2000 ford excursion that has firestone tires on it that were stock from the factory. They have 1/4" of treat left and were properly inflated. I was traveling on the interstate and the tread off the right rear tire came off. I slowed and stopped as quick as i could. The tread bent the bottom 8" of the rear quarter panel up under the truck and dented and scratched it all over the rear panel. It also broke out the rear tail light. I havent received a estimate yet but quess it will be between 1500 to $2000 dollars damage to my vehicle. The vehicle was losing control but i am a trained emergency vehicle operator/veteran police officer of 17 years. My driving abilities enabled me to maintain control of the vehicle.

Tread separation on firestone steeltex a/t lt265-75-r16. In the past month, i have lost the front two tires on my f-350 due to tread separation. The tread just peeled off the tire like it was a recap, the first one shredded it self into a blow out and left nothing but a sidewall. The second happened in almost the same manner, the tread pulled apart from the tire like a recap. I took pictures and still have the tire. At this time, i have been in contact with firestone but no replies.*la

I have had two separate firestone lt265/75r16 steeltex radial r4s tire failures within 700 miles on my 2000 ford f-350 pickup, resulting in over $4,000. Damage to my vehicle. Firestone has denied the first claim stating i must have hit a pothole. The second claim is pending, waiting for me to send them the other tire. I expect the same responce from firestone,as the tires look exactly the same, like a hand grenade blew up inside them. These are the same tires that cbs news had a report on last friday night about failures on rescue vehicles from 82 rescue squads in 26 states.

While driving 45 mph vehicle vibrated uncontrollably. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Right rear tire exploded and came apart while driving on i-17 40 miles s of flagstaff, az.this caused extensive damage to the right rear 1/4 panel of our f350 and completely removed the wheel well.the tail pipe was bent and the body of the truck was scratched and bent.the tires on the truck were factory issue, and had a considerable amount of tread left.we changed the tire, mounted the spare, bought a new tire in flagstaff and filed a claim w/ firestone.we received a 'letter' yesterday denying our claim based on their examination of the tire we sent to them. They are claiming damage to the tire from a pot hole or like incident.we are mailing back to them the form to reclaim our tire.we also mailed many photos of the damage to the truck which we have files of. Please advise as to our rights in this matter. Thanks for your time. *la
