I bought a used 2005 chrysler minivan town & country and yesterday i was nearly killed by a tire explosion that nearly caused a rear end collision on the la freeway.it was a firestone fr690.no tread wear at all.when i called firestone to see if they had been recalled i was told no.when i got back to the house i googled and found that indeed they have been but only the fr690 215-65-15's not the 16's that i have on my van.the description of what happens to the 15's and the sound it makes when coming apart is identical to what happened to me. I need to report this as i have to replace all four tires now on this van at a cost of almost 600.00 for new tires when the tires on there are new.
