I don't know if there's anything to this complaint, but in view of the firestone tire recall (on wilderness p23575r15 tires - dot vd), i thought i'd provide you with some input on this tire problem episode.i suspect that you look for trends...if folks don't let you know about something, then the statistics are never developed for something that would otherwise go unnoticed.approx. 1/4 of the face of 1 of my truck's tires peeled away...the tire appears to have good tread.i am the second owner of the p/u.the truck came with the tires that are described in this questionnaire.i don't know how many miles were on the tires upon purchasing it, but they appeared to be in pretty good shape as i assumed ownership.the tire that appears to be defective is available for your experts to review if you so desire.thanks for the time that you might devote to this report.gery m. Tire failed catostrophically on interstate causing severe damage to 1997 plymouth neon caused by the tire.there was a blown out section of the tire through the metal belts and complete tread seperation around 3/4s of the tire.it appearts based on the manufacture date of the tire, that firestone has kept these tires in a warehouse during the prior lawsuits and investigations, and now that things are quiet, have returned them to the market.i feel that i have been taken advantage of by the sale to me of 4 brand new tires that are actually over 4 years old.plus, 1 blew out nearly causing a fatal accident.i do not know how to get my car fixed or new tires, other than a replacement of the single blown out tire.
I was driving down the highway, at about 65mph, and changing lanes when the truck started to shake.then there was a loud sound and part of the left front tire stripped off and flew up hitting the side molding of the car damaging the plastic plate. Both incidents were reported to firestone. Owner was sent a incident report.

In september 1998 i purchased two firestone fr410 replacement tires for my truck.in july 1999 i purchased two more of these tires to provide a complete set of the same tires for my truck.in july 2000 i replaced two of the firestone tires due to internally separating tread.in september 2000 i replaced a third firestone tire due to internally separating tread.all of these tires were properly inflated per chevrolet's instructions.all of these tires failed well before the 50,000 mile warranty and well before tread wear indicators suggested they be replaced.given that 3 of the 4 firestone fr410 tires i purchased have had internally separating tread, i am requesting that the firestone fr410 tire be added to the current list of firestone tires being recalled.i have never had tires of any kind exhibit this type of poor and unsafe performance.i am fortunate that no accidents occurred due to a catastrophic tire failure.i urge you to please consider this tire model for the recall.i should note that the dot number on the tires indicates they were made in firestone's decatur, il plant.that facility has some serious design, production, or quality control problems which need to be addressed.( dot number: vdhl41a207 tire size: p235/75r15 )

Rear tire on my 1994 ford ranger separated , the tread came loose from the tire at 70 mph doing body damage to the vehicle and caused me to momentarily loose control of the vehicle. I was able to regain control of the vehicle luckily avoiding a serious accident.
