We were traveling on i-15 near elsinore, ca at appx. 60 mph, when we heard an unusual sound (thumping) fromrear of the motorhome (24' class c coachmen).i pulled off at a nearby exit, parked the vehicle, and checked the tires visually.it was dark and i initially did not see any damage.i checked the air pressure on the tires (80-82 psi), when my son, using a flashlight brought my attention to the inside rr tire.it appeared frayed.we replaced the tire and examined it.while there was a lot of tread left, it was apparent that the treads had separated from the inner belts.the fact that it had been supported by the other tire (dually), prevented it from disintigrating, and i was able to stop before the inner belts were affected.i tried to report this earlier, but had difficulty with the form.
