I purchased my car in june 98 and before leaving the lot the service department had to replace both of the rear tires due to defects.they could not determine the exact problem.therefore the tires were replaced.since then i have had to replace the front tires in feb 2000.this was due to the tread seperation and extensive wear.at the same time i was told that the front brakes were bad and that i needed new brakes and rotors.the tires and brake job cost 481.93.now i had 2 flat tires on the same tire within 3 weeks of each other and now the back brakes need replacing.i feel that these repairs are due to defective parts.i have already taken my car back to ford for at least 6 manufacturer recalls.i do not feel safe driving this car.the car sensor light has been replaced and replaced but it still comes on all the time.from my resaerch on this component this could cause the airbags to engage without cause.between the recalls, tire, and the brakes this seems to me to be a very unsafe vechile.i was thinking that the problems were normal but after having all these recalls and now the recall on some of firestone tires i thought that i should let someone know of the problems that i've had with my car.( dot number: tire size: p20560r15 )

Problems started at 119miles, dealers either don't confirm problem or say it's normal for this car. Multiple repair attempts at 4 dealers. Severe vibration and pull at highway speeds are the tires (confired with my winter tires-no problem), klunking from front end when going over bumps, all dash warning lights come on during winter at idle-go out after restart or engine acceleration, front seats wobble side to side-dealer says normal for car-wan't present when new, pulsing front end shimmy on highway-not tire related-possible cv shaft issue-dealers stated npf, engine spark knocks under light loads-no change with different gas grades or brands-dealers says npf, headlamps go dim at idle-dealers says normal-not present when new, poor low beam visibility from headlamps, aluminum wheels are too porous-lose abnormal air amounts-dealer says npf. Most of these have been since new or started within 1st year of new- no dealers has yet "confirmed" problems when they are readily apparent to others. In shop for over 3 months total since new. Fusebox:bought car in july 1999, had to have three recalls fixed, one of them was on the air bag sensor, we went and had one of the recalls corrected, the next week we were scheduled to have the remaining two finish, on wednesday of that week the air conditioner stopped working while we were driving home from work, we had the mechanic check it that friday when they fixed the air bag sensor, the mechanic said the fuse box was broken and needed to be replaced, he replaced the fuse box (free of charge) and we went on our way, then on 8/14/2000 as we were again driving home from work on the expressway at about 55 the air conditioner died again, we read through the car manual and found the correct fuses to the blower motor and a/c, we changed those fuses, that didn't fix the problem, we then changed the relays, (which were very hard to get replacements for), that didn' t fix it either, finally we took it to a ford dealer and had them chack it, they said there was a fuse in the front (which the owners manual said should only be changed by an authorized ford mechanic) that had blown and when it did it fused the fuse to the connector and that the entire fuse box would have to be replaced, this time at a cost of over $400.00 tires: we have just had to replace two firestone firehawk gta p205/60r15 90t m+s tires because the tread was coming away from the sidewall at the seem, it was so bad there were small flaps of the tread that stuck straight out like someone had peel a banana.( dot number: tire size: p205/60r15 )

Engine cooling- temperature runs on the high range of normal.engine - two bolts fell out of water pump pulley causing unknown vibration which in turn caused failure of serpentine belt which caused belt to fray into engine which in turn dislodged timing belt and caused oil light to come on.dealer not "user friendly" during repair process which drug out the repair for a week. Engine has not run in the same fashion since the incident even though two different dealers have addressed the problem.engine now stalls during initial start up almost causing engine to die entirely which has almost been the cause of several accidents.tires- uneven and unusual wear on rear tires causing tires to wear prematurely.windshield- unusal amount of chips perhaps caused by design and shape of windshield.ignition- when removing key ingintion stays stuck into the steering column causing buzzer to sound.did i mention that we will never buy a ford product again especially since we have only owned this car since december 1999. Tire problem, possible rear bearing problem, possible alignment problem, egr replaced- engine misfiring is beginning to reappear

All of these components listed happens multiple times and at different levels of intensity.the car has been taken to two different ford dealers both have said problems are in our heads.i will give them credit for coming up with clever excuses, they blamed the vibration on the luggage rack, the lights dimming is a "ford thing"well this car is a little over a year old it has had 4 recalls.it seems that every month a new problem comes up with this vehicle (tiresize: 15)

Brakes noise resulting from larger than normal chunk of metal in pad grooving the left front rotor. Transmission- leak at transmission cooler. Suspension noise front- thumping while going over speed bumps, rear squeeking. Window trim- coming off or squeeking when rolled up. Head lamp- dropping black silicon into sealed unit (visible). Engine- stalling, dying while coming to a stop or sitting at stop. No help from dealer service dept. Only argues with me!. (tiresize: p205r70/15)( dot number:tire size: p205r70/15 )

Thefirestone firehawk tires, has had terrible road noise for the past 6,000 miles. Even though i had the tires rotated every 6,000 miles. Last night after the dealership put a newset of tires onfroma newcar, to prove to me that it was thetires. I am not happy! also, theinformed methati wouldneednewbrakes...okay, thatis possible. However, theyalso told me that i would need newrotors. Nothing that they could beturned...just that i need new ones.when i still have brake pads. How can that be? are they made of soft metal that they don't last? that ford counts that as a wearing problem, so the cost is on me?

The contact owns a 1986 toyota pickup.the vehicle has firestone firehawks r4s tires, size 30 9.5/r15tl (na).while driving 55 mph on normal road conditions, the contact heard a loud noise outside of the vehicle.she slowed down and immediately pulled over to the side of the road.she inspected the vehicle and observed tread separation on the front driver's side tire.in addition, when pressure was applied to the brake pedal, the vehicle lurched forward suddenly.roadside assistance was called to the scene.the front driver's side tire was replaced with a spare.the failure mileage, vin, and dot number were unavailable.the current mileage was 180,000.

Shortly after owning the car, i noticed that brakes seemed insufficient for the vehicle.i took it to the dealer a few times to get checked, but they denied any thing being wrong.while driving when the brakes are applied, the vehicle does not stop at a sufficient time.i also had to buy several tires since the purchase date, because the tires would get leaks by simple road debris such as glass and metal pieces.i reported my problems in person and by phone to the dealer i bought from, but they would not give me any information about the car's history.they only stated that all necessary changes were made in december the month before i bought the car.i also told them about the shifting in the steering wheel when driving, but they disregarded the complaint about the steering and the inappropriate stopping of the vehicle. Repeated stalling, missing & loss of power appears mostly when it's very hot out & car has been driven a lot.rough idle even under no load in neutral. No indicators light except during stall which happens even with clutch depressed.missing is most noticeable during acceleration or steady highway speeds, even with cruise on.car sometimes shakes at high speed (70mph).multiple alignments never show same results.dealer can never duplicate, says i am dumping clutch to stall & loss of power is due to a/c.they also claim excessive tire wear is due to my driving habits.( dot number: )

This year, i purchased a new bass cat bass boat from pop's marine, toano, va. The trailer has a dual axle and came with five firestone firehawk p205/70r 14 93s ss10 m + s tires -- four on the ground and one in the spare position. In may, having put less than 200 miles on the trailer tires, i was in the act of returning to the dealer for the required 20 hour warranty check on the boat motor. I fueled my tow vehicle at the flying j truck stop at carmel church, va. And, since the trailer had not been on the road in several weeks, i checked the air pressure in all the tires. The tires were properly inflated per the instructions on the tire wall. Leaving the flying j, i headed south on interstate 95. Just pass the ashland, va. Exit, the right rear trailer tire simply disintegrated. There was the sound of an explosion and only a small bit of carcass remained attached to the wheel. The rest of the tire simply disappeared. While returning from vacation, i was traveling north on hwy. 75 in howe, tx, at 70mph when i heard the tire begin making noise and then it blew out. The blowout caused me to swerve uncontrollably (90 degrees to the road 3 times, across both lanes) before regaining control and allowing me to get safely off of the highway. There were luckily no other cars in the immediate area at this instant. The tire tread had separated from the casing and shredded. Also in the car were my wife, 17 year old daughter, and my daughters friend. The tire caused damage in the wheel well/rear quarter panel and rocker panel area of the car as well as cracking the rear taillight lens and damaging the aluminum wheel.( dot number: vduujba227 tire size: p225-70r15 )

While driving the left rear tire locked up causing the rear of the car to break loose.inspection revealed ~1/8" of lateral movementin the left rear wheel/hub assembly.dealership determined that the left rear wheel bearing had failed.the failure caused destructive damage to both rear tires, the left rear tire has a significan flat spot wile the right rear has a bulge in the sidewall.dealership refused to replace the tires under warranty claiming that the problem was related to the firestone tire warranty despite the fact that the destruction of the tires was a direct result of the wheel bearing failure and not in any tire failure.

The tread from the left rear tire, which had about 12,000 miles on it, came off in the fast lane on the freeway at about 70 mph.traffic was fairly light and although we fishtailed a bit, i was able to pull off the freeway.the tires have a "rim saver" feature that allowed me to drive slowly on the remains of the tire.i have had three other failures with these tires, two of which were unexplainable.i had one additional blowout on the freeway at lower speed, but i don't know the cause of it.i spoke to firestone about these incidents and the assured me that these tires had no history of problems.at this point i'm afraid to keep driving on them. I have no faith that they will not come apart or blow out at unexpected times.whenever i drive over bumps on the road i'm afraid i have another flat.four flats in a year seems a bit excessive.when i read about firestone's problems with the atx tires, it sounded just like my problem.is this problem more widespread than is being reported?i would like these tires replaced by another manufacturer's tires.( dot number: tire size: 225/50/r16 )

The tire failed without any warning and created an extremely dangerous situation and loss of control. The tread was completely separated and the complete tire was shredded. I contacted gmc and they assigned an incident number of 99294608 and advised me to contact a local dealer. The local dealer said that the tire was not covered under the gmc warranty and that i should contact the local firestone dealer. The local firestone dealer advised that the tire failure was due to road hazard and not a defective tire, in spite of the fact that the incident happened on an interstate highway and there was no previous road hazard occurence. The tire disintegrated due to a high speed blow-out. The tire dot number begins with w2 and firestone kept the defective tire after i paid to have it replaced.( dot number: tire size: p265r7016 )

The firestone tires were installed on our pickup at around 15,000 miles on the pickup itself, at 28,246 miles we went to have the tires rotated and rebalanced and the right front tire that came of would not balance. They took it apart and discovered the inner liner of the tire was completely coming apart and turning into powder. Firestone said it had been ran at low presure and that was the cause of the inner liner coming apart, and that it was not "adjustable" . The tires were never ran low and were checked along with the vehicle when it was serviced every 2,000 miles. I still have the "tire" and the rest from the same matched set, i removed them all at the same time as the problem was discovered! the tire can be mounted and inflated and will not loose pressure, with out any distortion, or any signs of a potental problem. If it wasn't for the pile of rubber from the inner liner inside the tire that kept shifting around throwing the tire balance mathine off it would have never caught. Or until the air inside escaped into the cord body causeing the caseing to seperate.it is clearly a "manufacturing defect" and because the rest of that set was from the same production run, we do not believe firestones explanation and did not feel safe with the rest of that set. While on interstate 10 a vibration started, stopped and looked several times and didn't find anything, when i exited the interstate it appeared that i had a flat tire, when i pulled into a gas station the tire appeared to be inflated, upon further investigation i found a large section of the steel belt/tread was missing and there was bits of metal showing through side of tire.at this time i could hear air beginning to escape from the tire.i had to have the tire replaced.i have tried to deal with firestone and have gotten no where. So far there are 2 tires on my van that have due to the fact that there is good tread all around the tires except for a spot about 3 inches long in the same place on both tires that has worn very thin and the tires separated and blew out.when i saw the first tires i was ready to dimiss it as normal until i inspected the other tires and found the right rear was identical to the front one and the other 2 seem to be doing the same thing.as they are only wearing in one spot i came to the conclusion that it has to be something wrong with the making of the tires themself.thank you very much. (dot number: vdvejba488tiresize: p235/60r15)

There wasn't a dot number on my tire as far as i could find, but we had a flat tire, actually, something went through the tire and the tire looks almost shredded at places. (tiresize: p20560r15)( dot number: tire size: p20560r15 )

I have had this vibration as far back as the original tires. I paid for a balance and alignment due to unusual tire wear. The ford dealership charged me $87 for the service. I was informed in writing that i had defective tires and would not be able to fix the vibration until i replaced the tire. Once i replaced the tires $339.96. I still had the vibration. I took the vehicle to the ford dealer and i was informed in writing that i had 2 defective tires. I took it back to the store that i purchased the tires from and ended up upgrading to a more expensive tire since the could not remedy the problem. (cost $67.52)i went back to the ford dealer and they rolled up 517 miles on my vehicle and informed me that i had a defect that could not be fixed. They showed me a service bulleting from ford that stated a procedure to follow and then stop even if the vibration was not eliminated. I contacted ford customer service and they asked me to return to the dealership for another try. Another 400-500 miles were rolled up on my car and the problem still exists. I contacted ford service again and they are sending me back to the dealership. What the hell is going on?if my tires fail or i have another failure, who is going to cover my costs and be liable. Who is going to cover the expenses have already incurred? (tiresize: 205/60r15)( dot number:tire size: 205/60r15 )

I bought a set of 119679 firehawkindy 500 p225/70r15 tlrwlps tires from a firestone dealer in warner robins georgia. The 1st time i took it to them for bouncing and they replaced 1 tire saying it was caking,i have know idea what that means. It just seems a little strange that i get 4 tires and am having problems with what seems like all four tires. Is there a process that checks tires for defects ? makes one wonder why firestone is having all the problems with there tires. Thanks for listening. William b.coleman.

The tires on this car were not severly worn or cupped in any way.i took my car home and roughly a week later a buldge about the size of a half dollar appeared on the right front tire, luckily my freind caught it before i did as we were about to go on a trip and it could have been bad.i took the car to the dealership and then to firestone dealer, both said i had hit a pot hole, speaking it was my new car, i know i hadnt.the dealership and firestone dealer said to just replace this tire.so i reluctantly bought a new set of gta02 for my car (like an idiot) and then i go home and get on the internet.i found that the size up from mine have been recalled for something quite similar.not only that but i have found many new focus, contour, and cougar owners who have faced the same problem.i just want to be sure since i will now start to travel back and fourth five hours one way that i will be safe. There were even tire marks on the driver's side window.if i had not regained control of the car, i could have been severely injured or killed.dt

After 14,000 mi, car started to growl from the front.took it to the dealer, they said that it could be alignment and advised us to drive some more miles.at 24,000 the noise got louder, we took it back to the dealer, they said that front tires were worn out and we had to pay pro-rate on the tires. At 35,000, we received a letter from nissan saying about tires problem: early wear and tear.we came back to the dealer they said they would order the front tires and did not know how long they would be shipped and we still had to pay for pro-rate on the tires.should we pay pro-rate for the tires as the dealer said?we would not buy this car if we knew wheel alignment would be the problem.should nissan cover all expenses for us?we don't like the dealer anyway.they have very bad service and unprofessional.paul miller nissan930 kings hwy efairfield, ct 06825tel. Message: i am writing about my firestone firehawk gta p215/55r1894t tires. They came on my then new 2007 dodge caliber r/t. I noted with the dealer on 1/2/09 with 24800 miles, that even before that the tires are making a thumping noice. It seems they are getting even louder. They have been rotated every 5000 miles by me and the dealer and seem to be wearing evenly. I am worried about what would happen at higher speeds?

Firehawk gta 03. These tires are the original factory issue on my 07chevy hhr. All 4 tires appear to have the same problem / defect. They are all cracking along the outside edge of the tread pattern. Where the flat surface of the tire meets the sidewalls. The cracks are hard to see at first, because they so closely follow the deepest indents of the treads. 2 of the 4 tires now have a slow leak. They are an accident waiting to happen! to date, no one wants to take responsibility for these defective tires. Chevy says "tires' are covered by manufacturer's warranty.firestone says they are not responsible for oem products!what a bunch of finger-pointers!these tires now have 43,100. Miles and have been rotated every 3-5 k along with each oil change.on another note, these tires handle poorly in med.to heavy rains. They will easily hydro-plane without due cause.

On two separate occasions (03/11/00 and 07/03/00) i was travelling at a speed in excess of 75 mph and heard a sudden snap coming from one of my tires.however, the sound was very much like the sound when something gets caught underneath the car momentarily while passing over it.the first occasion involved the left front tire, the second involved the right rear tire.on both occasions i was able to pull over safely to the side of the road.on each occasion i found the tire's tread separated from the rest of the tire, leaving the steel belt underneath totally exposed.both incidents involved the same model of firestone tire, the firehawk ss10.the affected tires remained completely inflated, so had i not pulled over to the side of the road after the initial snap, i wouldn't have noticed that something was wrong.i fear that if i had not pulled over immediately, i may have been involved in an accident when the rest of the tread separated from the tire, perhaps only a few miles down the road.i now have 3 new bridestone tires on my car and fear for my safety.( dot number: tire size: p215/60r14 )

One of the tires was losing air due to a side wall plug that was installed by the dealer without the consumer's knowledge. The tire was replaced. (goodyear tire) .consumers co-worker noticed that the tire was low, air was then put in the tire, however it was then discovered that a finishing nail was embedded in the sidewall, the vehicle was taken to the goodyear dealer, and the mechanic kept the tire for a few hours to perform a test, he then stated the nail did not go through the tire and it was not necessary to patch or purchase a new tire, on monday june 24, 2002, consumer noticed the tire was low again, the vehicle was taken back to goodyear, and the mechanic stated he would investigate the tire further, the mechanics discovered that the tire had a sidewall plug and stated that it was not recommended to repair the tire in that manner or even drive with that type of repair, a new tire would need to be purchased because it was illegal to patch or plug in the sidewall, the dealer claims that they never plugged or patch the sidewall.(goodyear tires) *jg

I noticed about a week before the tire blewout that while we were iddling through the local walmart parking lot the vehicle rocked back and forth.about a week later the vehicle was parked in the garage and i noticed a blister on the left rear tire in the tread section.i checked the other tires and it appeared that two other tires looked and felt out of round.at that time i ordered over the internet from tirerack.com a complete set of wheels and tires (265/70r17).within the next couple of days the left rear tire blew out.this was the second set of firestone firehawks 31x10.50r15lt m/s on the vehicle.the first set was replaced at approximately 66,000 miles and seemed to profrom acceptable.the second set which was the problem set, had roughly 36,000 miles on them.in thinking back about the rocking motion at idle speed, this was first noticed many months ago.initially i thought the tires were out of balance and would have them re-balanced at either a firestone or expert tire store.the rocking motion at that time was hardly noticable, progressing at a very slow pace until this august.being aware of proper inflation and serviceing of tires both sets of the firestone firehawks were maintained at 35 psi (rated at 50 psi max.).since it is a four wheel drive vehicle alignment and tire rotation is at the very least done annually.( dot number: vd60 tire size: 31x10.50 )

Due to the recent recall of some of firestone tires i wanted to alert you to the fact that my firestone tires which are not part of the recall also experienced the same circumstance.i was driving on an interstate at about 70 miles per hour when the right rear tires tread seperated from the tire and caused the tire to deflate.i was able to pull to the roadside before a blowout or further incident.the tire has about a 36 inch long and 3 inch wide section where the tread is missing.the tire overall is about 8 inches wide.i also have a ford explorer with wildnerness at tires that were not made at the decater plant and thus not involved in the recall.although my firehawk tires had approximately 60,000 miles on them at the time of the incident i still feel this is not normal and the tire was defective.i have had other tires that ran until the tread was bald and the tread never seperated from the rest of the tire.due to the fact that a firestone tire not indicated in the recall had the same circumstances happen to it, i don't feel the problem with these tires is limited to the larger suv tires.i feel this needs to be investigated to insure other firestone tires are safe for thepeople who have them on their vehicles.my confidence in firestone tires is lost and i will be replacing the wilderness tires even though they didn't come from that particular plant.i still have the firehawk tire that had the tread come off if you would like a picture of it i can arrange that.the tires were made in 1995.they were purchased in 07-95 in wyoming.of the 5 years on the car 2 years were in wyo. And 3 years were in florida.the driving on the tires if a good mixture of highway and city driving.if you need any more info please feel free to call me.thank you.( dot number: w2v9 tire size: p195/60r15 )

These tires are supposed to be all weather street tires (per salesman), but these tires cause my car to skid out of complete stop on wet pavement and skid and slide in snow or slush.had an instance where on a windy and wet day where the vehicle slid across a lane and a half of traffic nearly hitting a tanker truck.all indications are that these tires do not hug the road very well and endanger those in the vehicle.note that i replaced 4 of the wilderness style tires with these tires a couple of years ago (and still have a recalled wilderness as a spare).i notified firestone via e-mail and got a complicated, canned response that did nothing to satisfy my problem.i hope that the numbers i pulled off the tire are correct (ltp235/ 75r15 m//s ; 22433urbmo2528).( dot number: 22433ur tire size: 75 r15 )

I purchased four firehawk ss20 p215/60r14 rwl tires for my 89 cavalierz24 on 04/19/01 in jacksonville fl. At store #005770 or #018538-there are two numbers. They have been rotated twice since then. Recently, i have noticed that one of my tires is separating above the white letters in perfect bi-section of the mold outlets(the little rubber finger like thingies ha ha). To me this is odd. I was an aircraft mechanic for the navy and have never seen anything like this. As a couple of weeks have gone by the splitting has become worse and is starting on the other mold outlets. There is definitely something wrong with the integrity of the rubber composition on that tire for it to split or separate like that. The tire is dated for late 2000 and has a tread dept of 5 still left on it.

I purchased a used volvo with a virtually new set of firewhawk tires on it. After driving it for about 3 months, i noticed one of the front tires had developed a good sized bulge on the side wall. This was about a year ago. I was concerned and e-mailed the consumer division of firestone about the problem. I described the bulge and gave dimensions including diameter (approximately 2 inches) and the height of the buldge (about 1/2 inch). I asked if it was dangerous to continue driving on this tire and who was responsinble for replacement. I received no reply from firestone. Eventually the buldge ruptured while i was driving at about 65 mph on an expressway. Fortunatelly, the tire did not deflate all at once, allowing me to drive a little distance and pull off the road.i replaced the tire with the same brand and size. About 8 months later, i noticed a similar bulge on the sidewall of the rear tire. I replaced it immediately with another manufacturer's tire. The first defective tire was disposed by the shop that replaced it. However, i still have the other defective tire. After hearing the recent problems with firestone tires, i again contacted firestone. It took a few weeks, but this time, they did respond. They told me they could not handle my problem by e-mail and gave me an 800 number to call. I have not yet called this number.( dot number: w2v9 jbb tire size: p195 60r15 )

This tire suffered a catastrophic failure at 65 m.p.h. For no apparent reason on a straight stretch of highway.i have personally checked the inflation and wear patterns on these tires weekly, inflating them per saturn's recomended p.s.i (posted in the door jam).these tires are nowhere near the wear-bar indicators, and show absolutely no irregular wear due to misalignment etc. Etc. The sidewalls completely (and instantly) separated from the tread, it is a clean separation similar to that which is regularly seen on tractor-trailer retread failures.i still posess the failed tire, and showed it to the firestone dealer.he was reasonable, and offered me a discountrate on replacement tires.there is no explanation for this failure, and if it woud have occurred on a curve in the road a potentially damaging accident may have taken place.i believe this tire was defective, and therefore am reporting it to you in the hope that if this is a common occurence a warning may be posted.a saturn coupe has a very low center of gravity, and this is the only reason my car did not lose control (or overturn).if you wish to obtain a picture of this tire please e-mail me at the given address ([email protected]).i will be more than happy to scan in a picture.if i am not contacted by october-5-01 i will assume that it is o.k. My passenger side tire blewout last night on my way home from work on the i10. What i found strange is that the tire came apart in the middle of the sidewall and is cut in a perfect circle. The rubber left on the rim on the side that came apart looks to be about 2 inches out from the rim all the way round. With the current tire recall i thought that i should report this sence i see web sites with others complaining about this modle of firestone tire that is not part of the recall. Another thing i found interesting is that i can't find what i would call a standard size anywhere on my tire instead it reads "27x8.50r14lt"shouldn't it start with a 2?? number. Thanks brass.

Two were on the atxii 235/75r15 - both vdhl from decantur, il plant.the company (after much hassle) replaced them with the firehawk r45 also vd dot numbers indicating they are from the same plant.both blowouts caused over $1000 worth of damage to my vechicle.this last time, i had to pay $350 for new tires.i suspected something was wrong with the atx long before the recall (aug. 3, 1997 was the first blowout, june 9, 1998 was the second).now i suspect something must either be wrong with the firehawkr45, or the ford suspension system.please do not hesitate to call or write if you have any further questions. Three of these tires failed with tread separation and were replaced. I just noted that these tires were made at firestone's decatur plant which produced the recalled wilderness tires. It seems their problems may be wider than just the explorer issue.

Not for sure if original tires. Approximately 6/32" oftread on the tires. They are rated traction "a". On wet roads they are extremely slippery. This complaint comes from experience after the street has washed off the top oil. What would be considered a "mild" stop, the tires will break loose and slide. On curves, the rear wheels will slide in the direction of the cyntriphical force. Upon acceleration from a stop sign in wet weather, the front wheels will spin with out much accelleration. This condition has been present with the car since it was purchased used in 1998. It appeares the "a" rating for traction in wet weather, has been misrepresented. I have three other vehicles in the household which i typically use "b" rated traction tires of another brand, and never have these problems. I have not replaced them, but will wait untill comments from this complaint. (tiresize: p195/60r15)( dot number:tire size: p195/60r15 )

We were travelling down a smooth, straight highway at 45mph when we heard a loud pop and noticed some vibration. We pulled over and noticed some irregularity in the sidewall of the left rear tire. I would like to take a moment of your time to let you know about an accident that almost occurred yesterday, 09/04/00, with my 31 year old wife, tonya, and my 2 1/2 year old son, jacob.they traveled 300 miles to spend the labor day weekend with my wife's parents.on the return trip tonya got approximately seven miles from home.she noticed that the car was not driving smoothly and suddenly there was a noticeable shake to the front of the car.she immediately pulled to the side of the road and tried to observe any damage to the vehicle that would cause it to drive so poorly.she could not find anything and she limped the car the remaining seven miles to the house.when tonya arrived she told me about the problem with the car.i looked at it and could not locate the source of the problem.i drove the car approximately 30 feet at a very low speed.i could tell that the car was not operating normally.i again looked the car over and noticed that the front passenger side tire's steel belt had separated.the tire, still holding air pressure and bulging, was the obvious problem.i also noted at this time that the brand was firestone, firehawk ss10.(further info on tires p195/60r15 87s m+sdot vdv9 jbb 226).after doing some investigating about the firestone recall tires i have learned that the separated tire on my 1996 honda accord was made at the decantur plant.today i took my car to the les schwab tire center, p.o. Tire formed bubble only after a few months of ownership.took car to firestone dealer and dealer ship.both say the front right rim is bent that why the tire formed a bubble.they say the bubble was in a certain spot which tells them that i had to of hit a pothole.the tire was replaced with a new one.the old tire was sent to firestone for testing.

The tires and wheels on my 2002 ford focus are very poor in quality.the rims bend and tires deflate upon hiting a chug hole in the road way causing loss of car control.while always avoiding holes when possible, this is a fact on may roads and hiways.i have never had this happen on any other car.the car is equiped with 205-50-16 firestone tires and alum. Wheels.the car handles poorly and has been aligned two times in past year.i feel cars equiped like this from the factory are an acident waiting to happen.

The consumer was driving over a rock the size of a tomato and thewheel rim has a tear straight down the middle of the rim.the pressure of the air blew the tire toward the inside of the rim. My wife has brand new firestone firehawk st tires put on her toyota sienna van on april 15 2008 and on may 2, 2008 while driving down the interstateher tire came apart.the tread separatedfrom the sidewalls (which were still on the rim) and went flying off still completely round . Luckily it was a rear tire and she was able to control her vehicle and bring it to a safe stop. The tires were installed at the toyota dealership and they replaced all four tires because wedidn't feel safe with this brand. We did have to replace the rim on the blown tire as it became bent sometime during the ordeal.
