Defective firestone tires; these tires were discontinued.

The contact's daughter owns a 1993 dodge dakota with firestone firehawk atx tires.he stated that while his daughter was driving 40 mph, she experienced a blowout on the rear passenger side tire.the blowout caused the vehicle to fall into a ditch; in addition, there was damage to the vehicle the front passenger side tire.the purchase date and tire failure mileage were unknown.the failure mileage was 105,618 and the current mileage was 105,621.

I bought the 1986 chevy k10 from [xxx]in paris, ky on 26aug16. The vehicle appeared to have brand new firestone firehawk atx p235/75r15 on all four wheels. Last thursday while driving home from work on 75n outside of lexington, ky the passenger front tire had a malfunction. The tread completely ripped off throwing me in an almost roll and damaging the entire undercarriage of the right side of the truck. I had to have the vehicle towed. The tow truck driver noted these were the tires that were recalled. I researched the recall info which brings me here. I attempted a phone call with firestone which was completely unsuccessful as the individual was the worst customer assistant ever. I also know now after looking up the tire data these tires were born in 1995. The dealership never disclosed the over 20 yr tires to me as i would have replaced them immediately. I was simply the unsuspecting victim who was under the assumption that the tires looked brand new so they must have been. The firestone individual would not assist me in wherever or not these were the tires that were recalled. However, there is also the dealership who sold me the vehicle and never mentioned anything in regards to their age or potential recall. I plan on speaking with the dealership tonight in regards to the situation. I thought it best to also file a note here. Thank you.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

We had a prior incident with one of the front tires.the tire became out of round, while travelling at speed, the tire began to bounce.the problem was not due to over or underinflation.the tire became out of round.the same problem happened with the most recent tire.it shook for a second or so before it lost its outer tread.i suffered the same thing as many of the tires currently on recall.the tires on my truck where purchased new, not used and where not retreads.i have filed a claim with firestone but would like to document that i have also filed one with your department. The vehicle had only liabiliy insurance at the time of the accident, so allstate paid no money. A claim was filed through firestone. After sending the failed tire along with pictures and estimates of the vehicles (there was a motorcycle in the bed of the truck at the time of the accident), firestone had sent me a reply back stating that the tires tread peeled due to an improper repair. The only repair that i am currently aware of was done only days before the tire peeled, leaving no time for the tread breakdown to occur. The repair was done at a repair shop. I currently have the peeled tread from the tire and firestone is sending the complete tire back to me in the near future.(dot number: vd60axc195tiresize: 31x10.5r15)

Tire size 31x10.50,dot number not available.itwas a replacement tire with 30000 miles on a 1994, toyota, dx truck. While driving 45 mphrear driver's side tire had tread separation. Most of the tread was hanging from tire.

In july of 2000 i went to firestone to report a bubble in my right front tire. The employee said that the tread was seperating and that i should buy new tires. They had none in stock so i bought elsewhere. I still had the firstones on the rear. On easter 2001 while returning home on the highway at 65 mph the left rear tire suffered tread seperation. I was able to pull to the side and had the tire changed. I had 5 family members in the car who were very scared by this. Damage was $2300. I would be happy to write a more in depth report or be interviewed. I never saw any indication that these tires were recalled. If i had left the ones on the front we may all be dead. Please stop firstone from handling individual claims rather than recalling all of the obviously defective tires - nobody else should die in order to save them money and reputation. I have the tire....and photos.(dot number: vdxf axdtiresize: 33x12.50r1)
