Oct. 22, 2006dear dunlop tire representative:on the morning of sept. 10, as i was driving on interstate 10 to the jacksonville airport with my daughter, the dunlop tire on my car lost nearly its entire tread, damaging the car.besides causing $1,800 in damage to my wife''s car, the loss of the tread also could have caused a serious accident. Im sending you this letter, and ccing copies to the national highway traffic administration, my insurance company, and to my congressman and u.s. Senators here in florida, so that you will be aware of the problem and will take action to correct it, as i believe that it causes a threat to life and property. I''d appreciate it if you could respond with details of what action you intend to take.the tire is a dunlop radial tubeless p195/70r14, rated at 90s m+s.sincerely, daniel lindley 564 101st ave. N. While attempting to negotiate a curve, the driver lost control leaving roadway. This was the first time it had happen. The insurance company declared the bike as a total lost with injuries to the diver as well. There was nothing done to correct the problem since, the driver was not aware of any recall at the time nor was informed of such recall by the manufacturer. I found out about the recall by looking it up on the inter-net. Can't say if this was the cause, but it is a possibility.
I own a 2008 honda gl1800 and i was on a ride on sunday about 100 miles from home when i noticed the back end of the bike felt rubbery as if i had a tire going flat, i glanced at my tps and noted the tire pressure was 38 psi.i pulled to the side of the road and discovered two rips in the back tire tread.the dunlop e3 is about 10 months old and about 10k miles on it.looks like the cords broke and the rubber is ripping from the inside.lucky i was at low speed when i felt this condition and stopped my ride. There is no doubt that at highway speed or in a curve that this tire could have blown and caused serious injury or even death.as it was sunday and all shops were closed it took a lot of effort by my riding club to get me and the bike home.tire size is 180/60r/16.
Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 40 mph on dry flat road conditions, the front passenger run flat tire lost air.at the same time, a reduced tire pressure light illuminated on the dashboard.the contact pulled over, and upon visual inspection, it was found that the tire had lost air pressure.the vehicle was driven 6 miles to the contact's residence, and the tire failed completely upon arrival.on 10/05/06, the manufacturer was contacted, and determined that the tires would be replaced under the 36000 mile warranty.the contact expressed that a vehicle without a spare tire posed a serious safety risk in the event that a consumer's tire failed on a highway without a cell phone.the front passenger run flat tire was replaced under a recall once before when the vehicle had 18000 miles because of excessive tread wear. The tire manufacturer was dunlop. Line was tubeless and size was 17 in.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50 equipped with dunlop tubeless tires, size: p245/40r19 (na). While driving approximately 25 mph, the front passenger side tire deflated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the tire separated from the rim. The tire was replaced; however, the failure recurred on five other occasions for each of the other tires. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate vehicle and tire failure mileage was 2,000.

As i was driving onto an exit from the highway at approximately 60-80 kmh, the warning light on my car speedometer displayed indicating a problem with a tire.the information display stated that my tires' air pressure were nominal.shortly thereafter, the car began to shimmy.i re-checked the tire pressure gauge display and noticed that the rear right tire had 1psi while the other tires had 30 psi.i immediately decelerated and turned into the break down lane.as i was doing this, the tire blew out.my passenger and i exited the car and noticed that the tread completed detected from the sidewall. *ln
The contact owns a 2012 honda accord equipped with dunlop tubeless tires, size: p215/60r16 (na). I own a 2007 harley davidson fxst softail motorcycle. The motorcycle was in my possession for ten months when i noticed a dry rot on the side wall of the front tire. The rear tire is in great condition, with no dry rot at all. I keep my motorcycle serviced and maintained continuously. The tire pressure was never low, or damaged in any way shape or form. I have been an avid rider and owner of many motorcycles. I have never seen this issue with a motorcycle tire on a new motorcycle before. I called the dealership, new river harley davidson and they in not so many words advised me "oh well, your problem, not ours we don't cover tires!". I have heard of at least three or more similar complaints from the area where i live. The owners complained of the exact same front tire problem. I am not sure if they have taken it to this level. I am worried that the harley davidson cooperation is not taking responsibility for an issue of such importance that could lead to someone being killed or seriously injured. I hope that you can help me with this. If there is another level i could go to, please let me know. I don't believe i should be responsible for a defective tire installed on my brand new motorcycle.thank you, jack cohen
