Dunlop roadsmart sportmax 120/70/zr18 front tire on my motorcycle.developed a 1" x 2" x 12" blister along the center line of the tire. Only 7,000 miles on the tire, still plenty of tread life left.luckily found it when going slowly on the coast.
Have a 2008 dunlop roadsmart front tire 120/70r18 on the front wheel with about 5k mi. Use. Recently the feedback from the ride was a vibration that turned out to be a wheel hop that increased with speed resulting in less contact of tire to road. The tire has a slight bulge like bumps and i have stopped riding the motorcycle until the tire is changed. Purchased on line and installed by myself as i have for decades on multiple bikes.
Kawasaki is selling their 2012, 2013 and 2014 ninja 650s with a defective front tire. The tire is dunlop's sportsmax 2, front 120/70zr17(58. They last about 5 months before the tire develops dry-rot in the tread area. This is the second time it has happened to me and others are reporting on motorcycle forums. I purchased the bike on march 1st and it comes with a 1 year warranty. The first time it happened kawasaki honored their warranty and replaced it with the same tire on august 14th. On january 13th, 2014 i filed another claim with kawasaki and sent them photographs of it happening yet again. It does not seem like they are going to replace the tire even though the bike is still under warranty. The tire they replaced has 95% of its tread life left and it'd seem kawasaki has no regard for their customers' safety. Every area of the entire tire tread is severely dry-rotted a second time and yet i've only had the tire 5 months.
Front tire:dunlop roadsmart motorcycle tire has apparent loss of belt integrity. Large bubble about 10 inches long by about 3 inches wide causes front of bike to shake. Hate to think what would have happened had the tire rubber failed. Btw your tire selection doesn't list the correct tire it's a 120/70 - 18. I selected the 125 to get to the next page.
Dunlop sportmax roadsmart motorcycle tire developed a "bubble" about 2" x 8" along the circumference. Tire was rendered useless and will be replaced within the week.
Dunlop roadsmart motorcycle tire size 120/90zr-18. Tire was installed nov, 2009. Tire had been on motorcycle for 8200 miles at time of failure. I was on interstate 77 in north carolina when front tire felt out of balance. Upon inspection i found a tennis ball size bump in the center of the tire. Riding slowly, i managed to make it to a motorcycle dealer about 20 miles away. After removing the tire, they showed me it had a blister on the inside of the tire about 12 inches long i don't think i could have made it more that a few miles farther on the tire. I was about 350 miles from home when this happened. The tire was left at the dealer in wilksboro, nc.
The contact owns a 2007 honda st1300 equipped with dunlop roadsmart tires, size p125/70/r18, dot#dkcj011m0808. The contact noticed that blisters and tread separation on the tires made it difficult to drive. The contact called the tire manufacturer who referred him to the an authorized vehicle dealer for inspection. The tire manufacturer would not make a decision on how to handle the tire failure until they were inspected. The vin was unavailable when the complaint was filed. The vehicle failure mileage was 38,000 and the tire failure mileage was approximately 3,500.
The front tire on my motorcycle, a dunlop roadsmart size 120/70zr-18, suffered a catastrophic failure while traveling on the freeway.visual evidence suggests the belt separated under the tread, then split the tire carcass resulting in about a 3 inch gash and a rapid loss of pressure.it does not appear to be the result of hitting a road hazard.luckily i managed to get the motorcycle off the road safely. I have detailed photographs of the failure at http://usmotogpfans.com/pix/main.php?g2_itemid=117.the tire is being held at a motorcycle dealership who did my repairs, belleville honda in belleville il.the failure looks nearly identical to this one experienced by another rider using the same tire model, brand and size:http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1001288&postcount=33here's an even more spectacular one: http://www.st1300.us.com/showpost.php?p=5430and several others:http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=999875http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1000715http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1096975http://www.st1300.us.com/showpost.php?p=5399this exact tire model and size appears to be prone to these catastrophic failures.the manufacturer has been made aware and has thus far taken no action.i hope the nhtsa can force some response before someone gets killed.btw, your web interface does not include the correct tire size, so i was not able to enter the right figure.it was 120/70zr-18.the closest your site allows me to enter is 125/70zr-18, which doesn't exist in this tire model.i entered it anyway, as there was no other way to get past the screen.
I had the front dunlop roadsmart tire of my motor cycle develop a large blister after a ride of approx. 60 miles.(total tire mileage is 13,800m) the blister size is 4 inches long, 2 inches wide and 0.5inches high. This caused a dangerous vibration through the motorcycle and badly affected the handling of the motorcycle. The tire size is 120/70/zr18. The pressure was set at the recommended pressure by the manufacturer (42psi) and there were no road hazards encountered at the time the blister occurred. A complaint e-mail wassent to dunlop on 6/22/2010 requesting comments on this blister but to date no reply has been received.
1. Front tire on a 2006 honda st1300 motorcycle. The tire is a dunlop roadsmart size 120/70zr18. The tire had 11,275 miles on it. I run 42psi in the tire, ride two up most of the time (rider=230lbs, passenger=140lbs, minimal gear in the bags). Tire pressure and tire condition are checked before every ride with multiple checks of tire condition during the ride. Info about tire: made in france, t1-ml58395,75r-0004274, b1-ml58396, dot dkcj 011m 1008.2. Noticed slight "bumping" from front tire at slow speed (approx. 35mph), checked tire and found a bubble approx. The size of half a tennis ball in the center of tread. After tire was removed, there was a 4 inch split with cords/belts exposed.3. Had a new tire (same as described above) delivered 100 miles to my location and was changed in a driveway by myself and another rider. Old tire is available.
