Original date of purchase 9/18/2010 original tire: dunlop rovers lt 265/70r16 load range c da8d633v2709goodyear/mr. Tire auto cedar bridge ave store # 1014 brick nj 08723 (732)477-3480.customer id# [xxx] $892.82on july 14, 2011 i was making a right turn onto main street in toms river when the left front tire exploded, and a few seconds later the right tire also exploded. I drove about 100 feet to a parking lot to look at the damage. On the inside of both tires there was a large gash about 5 inches long on one tire and on the other tire there were 2 different gashes about 4 and 5 inches long. I put a spare on one wheel and had a hard time getting the 2nd wheel off so i hit it with the lug wrench. I took that tire to a nearby sts and bought a cheap tire $171.00 and put it on and drove home. Two days later, saturday july 16, 2011, i took the truck to goodyear where i purchased the tires less then a year ago. They told me because the back of the rim was scored it must not have exploded, it must have been cut in a carwash. They charged us $85.41 for 2 new tires. They told us this did not happen on the road it had to have happened at a car wash. This truck has never been to a car wash since i have had it several years. I had them replace the 2 bad tires with goodyear wrangler sr-a?s but i still have 2 dunlop tires on the back of my truck. I am concerned for my safety, and my family?s safety, driving on these tires. I have a picture of one tire and i have pictures of the inside of the rims. Goodyear kept both tires.i am a former mechanic, front end specialist, for 22 years, i am a retires us army vet, and currently working as sheriff's officer, and i have never seen tires that looked like this.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Tires purchase new, maintained well with approx 25k miles of wear. With no notice, had a tread separation on front right tire. Took to dealer and it was replaced with only a partial credit for warranty. Other tires were inspected and told it was a fluke. Approximately one month later, was pulling off freeway at about 50mph and left rear tire exploded and ripped fender off of suv. No notice of wear prior to this incident. Witness driver pulled over and told me that his wife noticed a huge bubble in the tire right before the tread fell apart. Took to dealer again and they said in effect, "so sad, too bad" but i must be unlucky and the other two tires still "look" good. Tire replaced. Now, same day third tire is loosing air-no nails, good seal, good valve. I expect it to blow up soon as well. I cannot afford to purchase anymore tires. I hope that i am alive by the time i can afford to replace the remaining two tires. I am astonished that these have not been recalled or that the mftr is not responsible for full replacement. These are not over time noticeable issues, they are immediate failures and life threatening.

Out of 2 sets , 3 tires have separated, and tires were less than half worn. Tire pressure always been correct. Tire size 12*16.5, dunlop, radia rover at.

Tire failure due to ply separation. 50% of my tires experiencing this problem. One failure was catastrophic, resulting in damages to the truck. This event could and has caused injury and death for others who have experience this type of failure. Tires have about 20,000 miles on them and proper inflation and recent balance.

The tread "peeled off" both tires within 3 days of each other at normal highway driving speed. Thank god that they didn't fail when we were driving on the blue ridge parkway's hairpin turns, or i probably wouldn't be here to send this email. These dunlop tires were installed on 6/14/2000 by tire kingdom. They were replaced this morning with goodrich tires.( dot number: tire size: p255/70r15 )

4 new dunlop a/t radial rover p255/70r16 109s m+s dot pjcu 78hr tires bought from internet seller discount tire direct installed also by discount tire, hampton, georgia, shipped from arizona to discount tire in hampton, georgia, all had defect of steel belt internal separation (some called tread separation)after driving only about 30 miles, one tire had sidewall blow-out, paper thin at point of defect, ridge of tread separation easy to see and feel, other 3 tires all had belt separation, felt and seen by a, b, j, l (dt employees) and others, all amazed that all 4 tires had same defect, of discount tire hampton. Discount tire advised by me to notify dunlop, dunlop called once monday basically asking for the tire that blew out (discount tire could not reach anyone over weekend at dunlop). I have the tire that blew out at my home. I believe these tires should be investigated by nhtsa immediately. Discount tire hampton employees were gracious, retained other 3 tires, replaced with 4 kelly tires.

4 dunlop radial rovers 235/75 r15 installed 2 or 3 years and 30,000 miles ago on my 1998 toyota 4runner.i always maintained recommended pressures and just rotated them myself last week after our previous las vegas trip.on our way back from las vegas july 19, 2004 2 pm near fontana the car began to shake progressively until it was undriveable above 45 mph so i pulled over to a small turnout.i changed the left rear tire that i found had a major bulge (3 inch diameter bubble on sidewall which continued another 3 inches into the tread.)changed it to the spare and car still shook when driven.found out the front right tire was worse, about 1/3 the circumference was bubbled making the tire look egg shaped from the side.looks like more than tread separation, possibly broken belts since the bubbles had air pressure.drove 10 miles to a discount tire center and had 2 tires changed at a prorated charge (kumho venture) they kept the old tires. 45 miles later and just before my exit on the freeway the car began to shake.luckily we hit traffic near our exit and we were going 10 mph when the third dunlop went totally flat.i will have that tire and the 4th one changed today.*la

I was traveling northbound on the 215 freeway at about 70 to 75 mph in the #1 lane when i heard noises i recognized from my past as tire tread coming lose from the tire it self. I immediately began to maneuver my vehicle to the right shoulder. As god would have there was a break in traffic that allowed me to do so.after the roadside service (aaa) arrived to change the damaged tire with the spare i was shocked to see that the damaged tire was damaged only to the outside wall of the tire. Which appeared to have just come lose. I am thankful there was no accident caused but i do want to file this complaint.

Dunlop light truck tireslt 235-75r15 radial rover atfirst problem was a tire blister that caused an uneventire wear problem.i brought the tire back to the tire store, where i purchased said tires, and was told that it was a road hazard that caused the failure. No warranty coverage on the tire, even though i had put less than 50% wear on tire.on june 13, 2004, while returning frim a trip down to long beach, heading north bound on interstate 5 in california i experienced a complete tire failure of the left rear tire.the tire detreaded or blew its tread off and this caused me to loose control of my ford explorer ( bubbles, was the cars name since she was champagne colored ).i slid between the lanes of the highway trying to regain control of my car. I didn't regain controll but ended up rolling it down the shoulder and after bouncing around landed upright on my tires facing the wrong direction.some how i didn't get hurt but i did destroymy 1993 explorer. The truck i loved and since i didn't get hurt in the roll over i have zero complaints about my ford in fact i think i will tell them about the roll over and thank them for building a car that i rolled and still didn't get hurt.my dunlops tires on the other hand i have many complaints, one complete tire failure that directly lead to me wrecking my car and one blister that may or may not have been a road hazard.i would like to report this to you to see if anyone else has had similar problems with these tires and if you need to research into this.i know i am lucky to not have been injured but feel like you should know about this problem. Thank you for listening to me. , *gem

My husband, nine year old nephew and i were driving back from our summer vacation.the night before our actual accident, our front right tire had tread separation.my husband put the spare on and we went on to our hotel.the next day our left rear tire had tread separation and forced my 1998 ford explorer sport onto the median.somewhere during that our right rear tire blew out.then we rolled over three times.we were traveling the speed limit at 70 mph.we strongly feel that the dunlop tires were the cause of this accident.my explorer was a total loss.despite the events, my husband nephew and i walked away with only scratches and minor cuts.i thank ford for that.i would also like to mention that about a year ago i had to replace one of the dunlop tires for tread separation.i received another tire.that tire which was on the front left and the spare (which was a firestone) did not give out but basically the four dunlop tires that i purchased, i strongly feel, were defective.

Tire blew out on rt 95 near brunswick, ga.tires had approximately 10/32 tread and have never been run low.belt completely seperated and destryed fender flare.

The second tire in four weeks had a tread seperation.the first was found at sears automotive when i took vehicle back due to tire vibration.they pro-rated the tire and replaced it.four weeks later, another tire seperated at 70 mph on the interstate causing some body damage to the left rear of the vehicle.i now have a third tire vibrating at 35 mph and at 70 mph.this cannot be safe.i am meticulous about maintaining my tire pressrue at the manuf. Suggested pressure.

Driving on highway and i started feeling the whole truck bounce, i went to the tire shop to find out.the tire was separating from the tread or spliting down the middle.this has happened twice and now a new one that was bought to replace one of the old ones is also beginning to separate.

While driving on the highway at 65 mph, the left rear tire losttread. The consumer stated two other tires experienced tread separation.

Dunlop radial rover lt235/75r15 tire tread separation, no crash, no injury but only lucky to have caught it in time.1.driver sensed vibration in steering column 2.while being test driven at high speed the rear right tire experienced slow tread separation followed by catastrophic failure3.tire was replaced with spare and tire company pro-rated a refund for the 3-year old tire.
