We believe our '99 flagstaff 26ds rv had inadequate axels for the weight of the camper.our rv weighs 4700 lbs empty.it had two 2200 lb. Rated axels.we had a blow out and had to replace 4 other tires due to excessive wear.then we discovered the wear was due to a bent axel.our rv dealer, sunway rv, had gone out of business so we contacted forest river, dunlop tire and alko kobler corp, the axel supplier.dunlop did remimburse us $500 on a $631.32 claim for the tire warrentee.alko kobler corp said there was no flaw in the metal of the axel we returned, therefore their 5 year warrentee did not cover bending. However, they did feel the axels were too light for the weight.forest river gave us no satisfaction on our request for new heavier axels and for damages.we did however, purchase two new 3000 lb. Rated axels from forest river and had them installed by south east trailer sales of key largo, fl.they also felt the original axels were inadequate.after replacing our axels we discovered forest river upgraded the axels to 3000 lb. On the next year's model of the flagstaff rv even though they increased the weight by only 300 lbs..we feel forest river should have a recall on our model rv and should compensate us for the cost of the axels, replacement costs and related damages.

I have had my last two rear tires fail the same way and both were replaced by me with only about 60% of the tire used.they both developed a small seperation between the tread at around 5000 miles and grew as time went on to about 1 to 1 1/2 inches in length. I didn't think much of it the first time so i threw out the tire, but when it happened a second time i kept the tire and contacted dunlop. I still have the tire. Their response without looking at the tire was that it appears to be road hazard related. I don't believe it because i have seen other friends that ride the same type motorcycle experience the same split. I talked with dunlop rep. Colleen larkin @ 800-847-3382. Feel free to contact her or i for more information. She has agreed to replace the tire at no cost to me, after some whining from a 20 year customer. This carlisle trailer tire was on our 27 foot cedar creek travel trailer. We always air our trailer tires to 50 lbs before leaving on a road trip and had done so on this morning; we were 15 minutes from home and were traveling through a residential neighborhood at 30-35 mph when the severe blowout occurred.the tire was completely destroyed (almost disintegrated) and it tore up our sewer system which was next to the tire, and damaged the fender over the tire.this tire was not abused at any time by us. To the contrary, we always pay close attention to maintenance on our tires and are very careful to take proper care of them. We have talked to another local travel trailer owner who also had carlisle tires and he has had three blowouts of this same tire. We still have four of these tires on our trailer and are terrified to get on the road because we feel certain that these tires are defective.we have reported the problem and asked for some assurance from the carlisle company that these are safe tires.they referred us to the dunlop manufacturing company.we took the blown tire to the local carlisle tire dealer and he took the tire to send to his distributor and it was to have been sent to carlisle for inspection and determination of safety.however, after continuous calls for four weeks, i was told that the tire has been destroyed and no determination will be made.however, we feel that some determination should be made about the safety of the other carlisle tires that we have on our trailer---and that other consumers have on their trailers.can you help us???joe a. On august 5, 2002 i was driving on the freeway when the tread unraveled on the tire on the left front side of my ford explorer.i replaced the tire but was very concerned because my mechanic felt that the failure was caused by a defect.when i went to the dealer he informed me that the tire was beyond the warranty limitation of 60,000 miles and that i would need to purchase a new tire.today, sunday august 26, 2002 a second tire that i purchased at the same time from your dealer began to fall apart at the tread as i returned from church.i have two more dunlop tires that i purchased that i am now afraid to drive on because of the tread problem.it is my understanding that even though we surpass the mileage limitation we should not expect the tires to disintegrate.i need your assistance to address this problem immediately.i will be going to the dealer tomorrow august 26, 2002 and i believe that all four of the defective tires should be replaced at no charge.i also suggest that you investigate this matter before someone is injured or dies due to a reported defect.

My main complaint is i have defective dunlop tires on my car which i believe are a safey problem.i'm am wonderingif this tire has a hisory of being defective, that is why i am reporting it.dunlop will not do anything about this problem except credit me the differance on tire the tread wear.the safety, cost and inconvenience is my problem.i have had two tires on the front of my car within 3,500 miles of each other develop the same identical problem, a blister on the sidewall of the tire.i talked with a dunlop supervisor at length about this problem and he told me that dunlop gave me a tire free of cost the first time (which was true) and they would only allow me the tread wear difference this time but later gave me 40% off the price on the new tire.the first tire problem cost me $34.73 and this second tire cost me $173.23.i don't think this is a fair resolution for this dunlop tire problem and seek your help to resolve it.sears ordered the second replacement tire on 2/17/01.the new tire was received by sears on 3/8/01.i then went to sears on 3/9/01 to have the tire mounted and this is whereproblem began.i told the sears manager what had happened before and that i would expect the same treatment this time.the sears manager gathered all the information from my car and car's tire and went to his computer an said it would cost me $203.28 to replace this tire.i said there must be some mistake and showed him the paperwork from before.the sears manager said all i was entitled to under the dunlop tire warrenty was the proration of the tire tread wear which was 25% of the price of the new tire.however the price of this new tire increased from $143.99 for the free tire to $208.99 for the prorated tire.the difference in tire cost is a problem but i believe a bigger problem is that dunlop has a defective tire and it should be replaced free of charge untilthe problem is resolved.
