Driving up to intersection, applied breaksnext thing aware of was the cab was smokey and airbag had deployed and vehicle was stopped against a tree in the ditch. No knowledge of tire failure, pothole, or anything leading to a deployment of the airbag. Concern with unnecessary deployment of airbag verses steering/breaking/tire problem. The air bag knocked me unconscious and i was unable to do anything to avoid the extensive damage that occurred to the truck. *nlm
The contactowns a 1999 gmc savana 1500. The contact stated while driving 68 mph, the drivers rear tire tread separated. The tire was manufactured by cooper, tire line discoverer ht, tire size p235-75-r15, and dot uthlc5u4206. The manufacturer stated the tire failure was not related to any recalls. Driving down road and side/top of tire (section) came off.
Today i took my vehicle to the tire shop for a tire rotation. I was advised that at least three of my cooper discoverer ht plus (285/60/18 manufacture date 3/18) have been partially been separated from the core wire. All three wheels appear to be almost wavy. I have not felt any shaking but i was told by the tire technician that the process is at the beginning stages of separation and that it will get worse.
