To whom it concerns:i am requesting that the dot nhtsa investigate the possibility of a tire sidewall separation or sidewall delamination of cooper tires (cooper tire & rubber company) model discoverer rtx, size p245/70r16, dot ut9h 2bm 1818.i purchased a set of 4 tires (discoverer rtx, 245/70r16) on november 14, 2018 for my 2003 dodge dakota.on december 9, 2018, i was driving on the highway for the first time since purchasing the cooper tires.i suddenly heard a noise similar to driving on grooved payment or rumble-strips.however, the roadway was smooth and clear.i pulled over immediately and checked the tires.the right-rear tire was torn (shredded) all-around between the tire shoulder and tread, resulting in two separate pieces.upon further inspection, i found a portion of the side wall where the outer and inner sections were not adhered (or not glued) together like the rest of the tire.i am concerned that this tire was defective and that the other 3 tires may also be affected.can you look into this to see if this tire should be recalled?i am concerned about the safety of these tires.thank you

Cooper discoverer m+s treadwear failure.
Tire blew out at 70 mph on freeway causing me to almost crash into guard rail. I had to pull off exit in unfamiliar city in a bad area and call emergency roadside assistance. Every tire has leaked air since purchasing and has had to be resealed and sidewalls all looked like they are cracking apart. I have contacted cooper several times to get no solution and a [xxx] response. They are still under warranty. This has been an ongoing matter for 2 and half years now! the store were purchased said i had to contact cooper not them. Every tire in this line has been recalled except this size! now i get to spend another $1000 on new tires when these aren't even out of warranty but cooper won't do anything even tho my mechanic says they are faulty.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Sidewall failed on two separate cooper discoverer srx tires within a month. There is a recall on this tire for this issue but in a different size. Suspect problem may be more widespread. Tires were installed on a certified pre owned honda crv purchased from berlin city honda in south portland maine.
I just discovered the tires i have on my car have had the date code buffed off.it's a good job, barely noticeableunless viewed with a slanting light source, but all four are the same.is this a violation of some federal law pertaining to tires?
