We were traveling on a lightly crowded highway when all at once the car shuddered, tire and warning lights came on, noise and vibration levels increased dramatically. I managed to pull over and then off the highway in order to replace the damaged tire with the donut spare. The roadway was clear, and we did not run over any objects.the tire was utterly flat. It had failed instantly, as opposed to a leak. The attached photo shows that the inner sidewall of the tire failed simultaneously, in multiple places. Note!!!earlier batches of this same brand/make/model tire have already been recalled! the tires on my car were made 3 weeks after the listed dot batch week end. The recall period needs to be extended.
The contact owns a 2019 volkswagen arteon equipped with continental tires, tire line: procontact tx, tire size: 245/35/r20, dot number: (n/a). The contact stated that on several occasions at different intervals while driving at various speeds, the driverā€™s and passengerā€™s side front and rear tires experienced blowouts. After each blowout, the spare tire was placed on the vehicle. The vehicle was then driven to a tire repair facility and the tire was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The approximate tire failure mileage was 40,000.
