Steering column shimmied when depressing brake; steering column made rubbing noise; two tires blew out; electrical malfunction light turned on; poor fm reception; front seats rock.mr

I purchased a 2000 lincoln navigator from laurel-ford dealer in mississippi on august 21, 2003. After asking the dealership if all necessary maintenances were done on vehicle my family and i left for new york. I still had the original mfr warranties and i purchased an extended warranty plan. While traveling on the interstate on august 25th the brake lights came on and suddenly the left rear tire exploded. My family and i feared for our lives. It turned out that the brakes were faulty, no emergency brakes, no stablizer, heavily rusty links, and etc. The tow truck had to tow us twice. After ariving in new york, a dealer, told me that the vehicle was never serviced. They explained in detialed in wrting. We could have been killed. I was on vaction with my twin boys and wife. I very angried with the laurel-ford dealership in ms and its owners. The tires seem dry rotted and corrosion was very visiable under the suv. Since then, i spent over $5000 getting this navigator fixed and got very little satisfactin from the owner and his dealership.

Truck began shuddering when braking @ low/high speeds.was told rotors warped @ approximately 6,000mi.dealership had the rotors machined and then adjusted calipers.after driving truck off noticed brake pedal was slightly softer but no longer felt vibration/shuddering.at approximately 9,000mi once gain felt slight shudder/vibration when braking.took truck to dealership with approximately 13,000mi and was told rotors were once again warped.i had ceramic brakes installed @ approximately 24,000mi and new rotors installed @ approximately 30800mi.with the rotors installed significant vibration still occurs when braking at any speed.safety concerns for some time now.apparently shuddering not due to warped rotors as dealership suggested.

Vibration from tires when driving on highway.

Continental contitrac tires constantly vibrate. Not possible to have balance last more than 100 miles before vibration starts again.

After the second tire rotation at 15,000 miles, the front tires began showing very abnormal wear patterns.i contacted the tire manufacturer and they notified me they are having a very high incidence of similar complaints from virtually all navigator 4x4 vehicles.the dealer is telling me it is the alignment and that i should rotate the tires every 5,000 miles - or about half the interval the manual calls for.i have checked the alignment and that was not the problem.i feel there is a defect with the front suspension of this vehicle.( dot number: )

Dealership noticedwhile servicing vehiclethat a hole developed on the front driver side tire sidewall.dealership indicated that the cause of the hole was due to a defect and not to normal wear and tear.

2003 expedition shakes while traveling, with the shake/vibration increasing as speed increases, and becomes severe.have had to dealership 3 times now, but continues. In searching online, this is a common issue, and appears to be linked to the continental tires.between the shake in the vehicle and unknown what is occurring to tires as the vehicle travels and shakes, i would think there is a risk of damage to the tires that could result in injury to the occupants.ford seems to be shirking the issue, which seems strange to me based on the issues they experienced with tires and the explorer.

The stock tires provided with the 2008 ford escape models have defective valve stems.the cracked rubber can either cause a blow out or slow leak.on my escape, 3 out of 4 valve stems were defective and showing multiple cracks.this is on a "courtesy recall?".the dealership i had my vehicle serviced at recommended replacement.since the nhtsa has not proactively recalled these tires, knowing full well there were millions of defective valve stems sent from china, the only way i was informed there was a serious safety issue with my vehicle was by having another mechanical problem.please officially recall these before people start dying to blowouts.

While driving at highway speed, the front driver's side tire blew out. As a result, the front end was severely damaged.the dealership indicated that the tires were purchased new.they were manufactured in 1997 and dry rotted.

Tire stem failure on continental contitrac p235/70r16 104t caused tire to loose pressure and made a roadside assistance call necessary and side trip to repair tire.second tire to have this failure this month.

Since purchase, when the vehicle is driven in inclement weather, the tires traction isn't reliable.the service manager and the field engineer both agree that this is merely a "handling characteristic".*jg

We unjustly lost the lemon hearing, our 2001 has 1997 tires which they refuse to change, the board felt the vib, and our tires are beginning to dry rot.this has been from day one when we peeled the plastic off and headed home, we have all r/o to back our claim.they are now telling us that it is normal for a $46,000 car to vibrate. Please help me. (dot number: e4 0213797tiresize: p275/60r17)

Does there have to be a death for manufacturers to admit a faulty product?tread peeled back from the tire/tire separation-luckily no injuries, and traffic was not heavy on freeway during occurrence *lincoln navigator).tires size is p255/75r17 updated 02/11/06.

After 7500 miles, tires are bald. Porsche representative claims this as a normal wear and tear. Other independent/liscensed mechanics all concur that the tires are bald at 7500 miles. After several attempts to rectify with pcna, regional rep and service department state that bald tires at 7500 miles are normal.the tires have always been properly inflated, and never driven off road.*la

On 1/1/09, 5/24/09, 5/29/09, 7/27/09, 8/15/090, inside panel lit up with "low tire pressure" message and tire was dangerously low within 15 minutes.these various events occurred on major highways with children in the vehicle and in heavy traffic, no safe place to pull over.cracked tire stem valve each time.this presents a serious hazard to drivers who are alone, on dark highways, etc.

On october 15, a continental contitrac tire on our 2003 mazda tribute experienced a blow out at highway speeds on a busy over-pass. There was no indication of road hazards coming into contact with the tire. The tire was badly damaged on the blowout and while subsequently traveling on the rim while coming to a stop on the shoulder.the local manufacturer representative denied a warranty claim outright indicating that the damage to the tire was caused by riding on the rim, not a blowout. I am pursuing this matter with the manufacturer and the local magistrate. What concerns me more is that if continental has created artificial barriers to their representatives processing warranty claims, then serious manufacturing defects may go unknown. I believe that the failed tire was unquestionably defective.*la

While traveling at 62-65 mph on dry, smooth pavement the right rear tire suffered a sudden sidewall blowout.both the inside and outside walls were totally destroyed.i have digital photographic documentation if you are interested. Luckily it was a rear tire and not a front tire at that speed.the car has less than 8000 miles on it and had just been serviced by the dealership within the last 3 weeks and all tires were properly inflated.my concern at this time is the structural integrity of the other three tires and the safety of my family while traveling on these tires.if this tire has a history of similar incidents please add this accident to it... If not please start a new file and track potential manufacturer's problems.dt

On march 23, 2012, while towing my rv on i16, the tread on the left rear tire of my 2009 f350 peeled off. My factory installed tires were continental contitrac lt275/65r18. According to continental these tires were not a part of recall #11t002000 and yet, given the exact same failure, i wonder if my tires should have been included in the recall. The truck had very low mileage, the tread still had a depth of 11 and the bed load was only 2700 lbs(using cat weight measurements.) of the truck's 4000 lb capacity. The tire pressure, before leaving 2 hours earlier, was at the recommended 80 lbs.after talking to my ford dealer in austin, tx i learned that there wasnotification 11b24 concerning these tires. Had i been notified about this i would have taken action. To this end i had all 5 tires replaced before i again towed the rv. While i was able to regain control of the truck, i could not take the chance of tempting fate another time.as the truck left quarter panel was damaged i did start a claim for repair with continental. Based on any response from you i will also request pro-rated compensation for the replacement tires.i saved the failed tire and continental has requested that i send it to them. I will do this within the next week.

I noticed a vibration in the steering wheel at approximately 60+ mph.i thought i needed a front end alignment so i scheduled it at the time i had the engine oil changed.after the oil was changed, i was informed the rear right tire was "bad" and the tire was replaced by the dealer free of any cost to myself.i do not have the vibration any more.i am happy with the replacement policy but am concerned with the structual integrity of the other tires.in light of the recall by continental of only "16" inch tires, i think it might be prudent to review history on the "17" inch tires.( dot number: tire size: p255/75r17 )

One caused vibration even at slow speed.it was too dangerous to drive so we had to tow the car to get the tire replaced. While at store, we were informed about cracks on another tire and had to get it replace. There was a recall for 2008 and 2009 original tires on f250 but not for 2010.

The tire pressure, before leaving 2 hours earlier, was at the recommended 80 lbs.after talking to my ford dealer in austin, tx i learned that there wasnotification 11b24 concerning these tires.

I hadtread separate on a second tire on my vehicle (the first tire tread seperated about six months ago).this happened while on a freeway traveling at 65-70 miles per hour.a chunk of tread about 12 -16 inches long ripped completely off of the tire.i then had to change the tire on the side of the freeway with cars and truck passing me at 70 miles per hour.this was an extremely scary situation.the passenger in my vehicle was also extremely distressed. 2006 mazda tribute with continental contitrac tires, only 17,000 miles on vehicle, all 4 tires are separating between treads. One tire had 2 separate fractures on tire in different places causing tire to go flat. I did research on these tires, there are numerous problems with sidewall blowouts and fractures between treads. This has cause thousands of dollars in body damage and consumers having to replace these tires at their own expense. Continental needs to own up to their defective product and recall and replace all the tires at no expense to the consumer.

Within the last 2 weeks i have had tread separation on 2 of my truck tires. I was able to discover the problem before a complete failure due to abnormal vibration and subsequent inspection. These were continental contitrac lt275 65r18 tires on my ford f250. Dot p5b9 1vub with no apparent manufacture date code. The first failure occurred at 24554 miles and the second at 26000 miles. The tires were carefully maintained, the vehicle stored indoors and never off road. The dealership replaced the first with a replacement dot a3b9 479b 4710. I will now fight with ford to replace the other defective tire and the 2 that have not yet failed. After reviewing the internet it is apparent that there have been a lot of problems with this brand of tire. I felt compelled to report my experience because it is clear to me that this is a defective batch and if it has not happened already, somebody is going to get killed or injured. Please investigate.

Tire tread separated.

On the left rear, the tread seperated from the tire while driving on the interstate at 65-70 mph.a loud pop was heard when the tread seperated followed by loud noises as the tread came off the tire and hit the fender well.i took the seperated tire to the local ford dealer and they recommended that i put all new tires on my car.the left front tire also had a crack in it along the tread and sidewall of the tire.the ford representative said that it look like the left front was about to also seperate.the seperated tread also caused the center cap of the wheel to come off.this was a very terrifying experience and i am lucky that i was able to get the car stoped without causing a wreck.the car swerved when it first occured and we were lucky that there was not another beside us.( dot number: ad70 449 tire size: p245/75r16 )

Just like the explorer tires the tread just came loose yesterday. (tiresize: p255/75 17)( dot number: tire size: p255/75 17 )

Tire stem failure on continental contitrac p235/70r16 104t caused tire to loose pressure and made a roadside assistance call necessary and side trip to repair tire.second tire to have this failure this month.

Tire deflated due to a cracked valve stem. A second deflationthree days later on another of the tires. That also had a cracked valve stem. I decided to have the remaining two valve stems replaced as i felt this was too much of a coincidence.i had the work done at a local tire shop. I own a 2007 ford ranger.
