2000 lincoln navigator suffering tire blow outs. Customer states that they had 2 blow outs with continental contitrac aw tires and one with continental sport lt/suv. When the third blowout occurred, the rubber separated and caused damaged to the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2001 ford expedition equipped with continental contri trac aw tires, line size p275/60/r17. The contact was driving 60 mph when the tread of the rear passenger tire separated. The contact installed the spare tire. He stated that he had not noticed any prior issues with the tire. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The dot number was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 85,230 and the current mileage was 85,239.

The contact owns a 2001 lincoln navigator.the vehicle has continental contitrac aw, size p275/60r17 tires.while driving 50 mph, the steering wheel vibrated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the passenger side front tire needed to be replaced.the passenger side rear tire also had a knot.the manufacturer stated that the tires were included in nhtsa recall number 02t012000 (tires:tread/belt), but they would not cover the charge due to the wear and tear.the failure mileage was 11,550 and current mileage was 11,650.

While driving at 65 mph, therear driver side tire tread separated, which caused the vehicle to spin out of control.the tire remained fully inflated when the tread separated. *sc

-the contact has a 2006 mazda tribute with an odometer reading of 11000 miles. The contact stated she took the vehicle to a repair shop to have it serviced and they told her that all four tires are showing signs of cupping.due to the vehicles low mileage the contact feels that she should not have this type of tire damage.the shop stated that uneven tire tread wear was the reason for the cupping.

Consumer received a recall regarding the tires that were installed on the vehicle. *jgph

The continental tires vibrated while driving.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who told the consumer that the steel tire belt came apart.the consumer was also told that the tires were recalled but he consumer was not eligible fro the recall because it expired 2 days before the vehicle was taken to the dealer. *mr *scc *nlm

Complete tread came off the tire leaving it to drive wtih exposed steel.tire did not lose air and vehicle was safely brought to a stop.tire was returned to dealership where after serious negotiation (arguement) they agreed ford had warranty and they replaced tire and are going to repair body damage from the incident.

Nar 06-10-2003.*mrthe consumer was contactedby continental customer relations departmentabout her tiresbeing apart of a reference recall program , despite the confirmations and the consistent problems with the tires they have not been replacedand the only accommodations offered by a representative of continental was 20% off a set of replacement tires. The consumer was very outraged and disappointed how continental has handled matters and was looking forward to swiftly resolving the situation.(daughter marina shear on behalf of her mother ellie hicks.) on several occasions as the consumer was having her vehicle serviced, she was assured the tires were ok. Five days before the recall was received, one of the tires felt spongy, it was discovered the tire was low and on a second occasion one of the tires experienced a blowout
