-the contact owns a 2006 toyota matrix. While driving on 12/21/06 in heavy traffic at 5 mphheard a knocking sound. The contact stopped the vehicle and observed that the tire failed and that the sidewall wasdamaged.the contact was certain that he didn't hit anything to cause the tire to fail.the contact placed a spare tireon the vehicle and drove it to the dealer.the dealer advised him to call the tire manufacturer and file a complaint.sears informed the contact that the tire failure was due to road hazards.the contact stated that the road conditions were good.

In snowy conditions the anti-lockbrakes failed, causingvehicle to skid.the tires had 1/2 tread life.the dealer blamed the tires.(tire, anti-lock brakes, and or awd was the problem) *sc

The tires on my 2006 dodge magunum rt may be suspect.however, when the car was given a four wheel alignment at about 6000 miles, it was found to need major adjustment at all four wheels.this car had not hit anything to knock the wheels out of alignment so i have to assume that the car was poorly assembled.i now have about 21000 miles on the car and i still feel that the car has very unpredictable steering.i hope that the cause is tires which i can replace (much too early).but i fear that there may be a steering rack problem.

The first day after receiving the car and getting onto the highway i noticed the vehicle would exhibit harsh vibrations.it was too much vibration to be tolerated.i scheduled an appointment with my local service dealer they rotated and balanced the tires, adjusted the steering rack (a tsb issued) and found my front passenger side strut had blown.i had to drive a whole month with a blown strut to wait for parts to get in and it was very dangerous.the violent vibrations were still not taken care of.that was the first trip.when i finally went in to get the strut fix they balanced my tires yet again.this seem to eliminate the vibrations from 45-55, but at 60-80+ mph there were still violent vibrations and the intensity had not been lessened.i am scheduled for yet another appointment specifically to fix the vibrations.i do not want to go in for a 4th time and have nothing fixed.i am extremely disappointed with the situation, the vehicle, and nissan for letting such an issue as this get so large.having subscribed on many forums online, ive noticed that i am not the only one with these issues.

The 05 dodge magnum i purchased came with continental tires from the factory. The tires currently have eighteen thousand miles and are near bald. The front tires showed cupping at twelve thousand miles and the front end had to be re aligned. The tires are touring , i believe . They are worthless on snow and ice.

Premature tire wear on my o5 dodge magnum r/t. I have replaced the front tires at 10k miles due to them cupping and balding on the outside edges. I did this and had the front end checked out. Then at 35k miles i had to replace them again!i then took it to a front end shop and they aligned it and said the factory has a bad set of specs as it will wear out the tires in no time!this is not normal or right!

After owning my new car for about a year (around 25,000 miles), i was informed that my tires were cupping and all needed replaced.this issue was blamed on alignment issues.i had the alignment fixed and tires replaced.i had read discussion boards of other matrix owners, many of whom had similar tire/alignment complaints.a worker at the car dealership suggested this has been a common issue with the matrix.i complained to toyota, who blamed both my driving and driving conditions (i don't drive recklessly--typically all my driving is highway), as well as the tire manufacturer (but my warranty had already run-out).i've been getting my tires rotated on a regular basis, but about a year after the aforementioned repairs (may 2008), the tech rotating my tires noted one of my tires was cupping and to have my rear alignment checked.again, my alignment was off and the car had to be re-aligned.now, two months later, i am again having possible alignment issues (will be checked this week).i think the toyota matrix has a serious design flaw considering so many people have been having alignment/tire issues with their cars.

Steering wheel shimmies at speeds from 50-80 mph and also shimmies harshly when braking at lower speeds.

Auto is 2007 chrysler 300 with 2500 miles.left rear tire blew out.entire tread came off. Tire sidewalls are still on rim. Tire is continental contitouring contact. Size is 225/60r18.

Consumer experienced two spontaneous blowouts.*ph

The oem tires on our 2005 dodge magnum rt are down to 2/32" tread depth at 17,903 miles. The tires are continental contitouring contact 225 60r18. I have rotated them when required and have checked the tire pressure regularly. I am very unhappy with the tread life of these tires.

Tires continually blow out due to defective rims.

Rapid wear of tires on new car. Severely cupped and down to tread wear indicators in under 19000 miles.tire manufacturer andcar manufacturer unresponsive in replacement of tires.

While driving front end vibrated.the dealership indicated that vehicle vibrated because the two front tires were cupping. The tires would have to be replaced to correct the problem.

Front end vibration.dealership did a front end alignment, but it corrected the problem temporarily. Also, dealershipnoticed cracks in the front driver and rear passenger side tires. The tire cracks may be the cause of the vibration.

Rapid wear of tires on new car. Severely cupped and down to tread wear indicators in under 12000 miles.tire manufacturer andcar manufacturer unresponsive in replacement of tires.

2002 mercedes-benz s500 experiencing tire blow outs. *mr there was a right rear gash in the sidewall and abulge high on the sidewall near the rear of the rim, the left front tire was flat due to fissure in the sidewall, the third tire blew out while driving on an interstate.the fourth tirewas starting to fray.(model/s 500) *scc

One continental contitouring contact tire (205 55r16) on the right rear wheel with approximately 23,300 miles failed unexpectantly at highway speed (approx 65 mph).tire tread separated from sidewall and damaged brake line and wheelwell liner.was able to maintain control of vehicle which is a passat glx with the 4 motion all wheel drive system.had all four tires replaced when tire technician could not find any cause of tire failure (e.g. Punctures, hot spots, tire not round).kept old tire and sidewall parts.

I purchased a new 2007 freeystyle, i have just under 17,000 miles. My continental tires are weather checked. My ford dealer says i have to pay 60% of new tires along with balancing, disposal, etc. I am very concerned about the safety of the tires. Also, they say i have to put the same brand back on.

Problems with tires on 2003 jaguar x-type. *mr the vehicle hit a pot hole and the front tire went flat.the tire had a slit on the outside, slightly above the treads.another tire had a buldge and was also replaced.one of the replacement tire was losing air.the consumer discovered that this tire also had a slit in the same place as the first two.the incident repeated again and the rim was dented. *sc

Dt: 2004 nissan maxima that has continental, contitouring , tire, size p225/55/r17leaked air almost to the point of being flat. This happens over a period of time, such as two weeks, these leaks were slow, andoccurredfour tires. Consumer was driving about 35 mph in a school zone and heard a pop, pulled ove,r and the right rear tire was completely flat on the rim.this occurred near a gas station ,and consumer drove there to gas stationto put air in the tire, but the air system at the gas station would not work.called family member to bring an air piggy and the tire would not inflate.waited for tire dealer to open because this was early in the morning and they could not inflate the tire.upon further inspection they note tha t inside of the tire running vertically from the rim to the top of the tire had a split. Dueto tread separation this could not be repaired , and a new tire would have to be purchased. Contacted dealer, who suggested discussing this matter with tire manufacturer.contacted continental, who said consumer would haveto taketire to an authorized service center which wasa considerable drive for inspection of the tire.called a second time, and theysaid they would send out a call tag and request tires back.consumerhad all four tires replaced with a different brand and paid for this out of pocket.have not sent those tires to continental at this time.

The tire showed signs of excessivewear on the inside and outside of them. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealership and had the tires rotated, balance and aligned.continental touring contact as lsize# p205/65r15 dot# acur3k42702.*scc

The tires on toyota matrix's are wearing out after 15000 miles.this is on all toyota matrix cars and toyota is denying any problems.the following link is one of many that outlines the issues (http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0eeece/0)

Too many complaints to write them all up, here are a few: engine makes metal grinding "whooshing" noise independent from acceleration-dealer cannot replicate, warped rotors-dealer wanted over $1,000 to fix, have had radio replaced 5 times due to disc errors-dealer keeps replacing, had steering rack and water pump replaced at 30,000 miles-dealer covered, sensor that turns on lights went-dealer replaced, power steering problems, hard to turn and rough, but no "lock-ups" like others have had(thankfully)-dealer cannot replicate, had drivers side front panel sunroof drain clog, water soaked front carpet(3 inches of water)-dealer fixed but left me with a moldy carpet!, engine flutters/stutters to a start on random-dealer has no answer for me, trunk lid was scraping rear bumper due to latches being tightened wrong-dealer fixed, headlamp full of condensation-dealer fixed, car ridiculously bad in the rain and snow, stability control makes loud grinding noises and causes the car to buck, replaced tires with snow tires, still bad-dealer has no answer for me, large deep scratch across windshield right in the line of view from contour oem windshield wipers, dealer said too bad. Those are just a few, i cant remember them all, this car is such a lemon. Im sticking with toyota from now on! i learned my lesson!

Tire wear and tread loss - causes premature balding and dangerous shaking.second set of continental.first came with car new, second set after causing steering shake, required replacement of tires with dealer, tie-rod ends, many rotations and services.in both cases ware on tires was excessive and around 18,000 to 22,000 miles.very rapid tire wear - causes vibration and dangerous driving conditions. Tires required rebalancing and excessiveair loss.updated 07/29/08

I have had two complete sets of conti -touring contact eco plus conti seal (p225/60 r 18 99h ch95) on my 2004 chrysler 300 c auto in the last two years. The first set came with the car. The second set, which i had to replace due to dangerous tire wear and instability, has now gone bad. They must be replaced. My car only has 32,000 miles on it and i have now gone through two complete sets of continental tires. Two chrysler dealers (one in west palm beach, florida and the other in green cove springs, florida) refuses to replace these tires with another brand. They pass the responsibility on to continental. Continental want to put their new tires on my car, at a reduced price. I will not put continental tires on my car again.what recourse do i have other than taking legal action? please advise.

My '05 ford freestyle awd showed uneven tread wear at 10,000 miles, dealer did a realignment at n/c.tires rotated as recommended. At 22000 tires are completely worn. Ford denied any responsibility.dealer unable/unwilling to assist.tires being replaced tomorrow with goodyear assurance line, tire people will examine these continentals for defects/explanation of premature wear, but i don't expect any recompense.i'll never purchase another vehicle with continental tires.

Details: i have 9800 miles on my 2005 dodge magnum rt which came from the factory with continental tires.i have rotated the tires every 3000 miles. In talking with other magnum owners "online", they are experiencing the same problem. Some people are getting adjustmentsfrom their dealers, others are not. These tires should be recalled . These tires do not live up to their listed wear ratings and the car manufacture should recall the cars for defective tires.(continenetal tire).at 10.000 miles alot of people don't even think about checking there tire's.they could have bald tires and not know ituntil one blows or they lose control on wet pavement.

I purchased a 2005 chrysler 300c on dec 9 2004 from warnock of nj. Noticed right away pulling in front end of the vehicle. Brought the car back into the dealer on 12/12/05. The dealer stated there was no problem brought the car back in on 3/22/05 the dealer states no problem. Brought it back in on 6/24/05 for the steering wheel being crooked they fixed the problem. Had to bring the car back in on 6/30/05 for moaning in the steering the tires were worn down already after 2 rotations. They did an alignment and fixed the moaning.brought the car to chrysler of paramus on 9/8/05 for the pulling again in the front end. They fixed that.had the car back into warnock chrysler 11/10/05 for the rims on my car were rusted. They wouldnt replace them i had to fight with chrysler. 12/24/05 took car to westwood chrysler for pulling in the front end and sunroof leaking.they fixed the roof and the fronend.2/22/06 took car back to chrysler of westwood for replacement of my rims that were rusted. Also had them check the pulling again in the frontend.the sunroof was still leaking they had to fix it again. While it was leaking into my car all along. 5/06 took car to westwood for new tires. Continental wouldnt take responsibility for the wear of the tires. While all along they couldnt fix the pulling in the frontend.9/06 took car back to westwood for the tires wearing out again i purchased another set of tires not the continentals they were offering. Had to pay out of pocket again. 9/06 took car back for steering & rattling in frontend. Couldnt find the problem. 11/06 had a transmission leak in my driveway they fixed that. Jan 07 had to pay for new upper ball joints on the car and struts chrysler wouldnt take on responsibility go figure when all along i complained of the problem. Tried to trade car in lost the value of car. People we need to work together and go after chrysler they produced a car not worth driving and were paying for the mistake. Anyone intrested in class action.

I purchase a chrysler 300c in april 2007, new from a local dealership.continental self sealing tires came with vehicle.a 1"nail, head diameter 2/16", punctured tire. Took vehicle to tire repair shop and was advised that after removal of nail , tire did not hold pressure, was advised to notify dealer for credit on tire.dealer advised me since tire did not hold pressure, there was no warranty or credit on remaining tread, i was advised to purchase a new tire.tires have 18,000 miles on them.also was advised that the self sealing tire is not being manufactured any more, and are difficult to find.i am a very unhappy customer at this point and do not look forward to purchasing a new tire.obviously your self-sealing tires work minimally at best.might that be the reason they are being removed, and no longer available.i was advised it may take up to 3 wks to find alike tire. Is there a refund or credit on my tire?yes, i read the warranty. Please advise.thank you, w. Pohler

Tireswore out wintin 2,900 miles. Dealer replaced the tires, however the problem still exists.

I started having problems with my car vibrating in august 2006.i took it to the dealership. They said they were unable to duplicate the problem.approximately three weeks later i took it to the dealership again. This time i rode with the mechanic. He said it was vibrating because it was out of balance. I had the car balanced and then it began pulling to the left and continued to vibrate. I took it to the dealership again. This time they said it needed to be aligned.i had the car aligned. The care still pulled to the left.at that time they said they would need to talk with a manager. They then diagnosed it was a problem with the tire.they said it was defective and that i would need to bring it in so they could get the numbers off the tire for them to order a new tire. That was 2.5 months ago. I have since asked that another brand of tire be put on the car, but they will not do that because they say it is not a safety concern.i have a letter from a mechanic at an agency that specializes in tires/wheels. They feel it is a safety concern and have advised me not to drive the vehicle until it is fixed.

Nar 9-10-03. The consumer experienced two tire blowouts on continential conti touring tires.

Noisy right front tire.cnd

The tread of this tire separated from the tire while driving.the tire had approximately 45,000 miles of use.the tread warranty was for 60,000 miles.the retailer would not take corrective action.i was told that continental would not do anything because the tread was worn, despite the fact that i had 15,000 miles left on the tread warranty.the retailer also informed me that they no longer carried this tire.

There were tire cracks 3-5 inches long and they leaked air. *sc they manufacturer gave the consumer 88.00 which only covered the cost of one tire. (the consumers son in law wrote in on behalf of the consumer lawrence marinelli)

Driver's side front tire blew out completely at 70 mph. Consumer did not lose control of vehicle since it had traction control. This occurred without no warning considering that the tire only had 700 miles. Manufacturer was notified, but the cause was undetermined.

I was driving car with continental conti touring tires (size 205/65r16) at speed of about 60 miles an hour. Suddenly right rear tire blew up. On inspection there was no puncture and sidewall of the tire had blown up. Continental indicated that cause of the blow out was undetermined and they are not responsible.

Acquired 2006 300c - 2/1/2006 - w/continental tires. Noticed cupping on left front tire at 3,00 miles. Dealer checked alignment, suspension, etc. And said: "everything is within specs" and rotated tires. Service advisor stated tires should be rotated every 3,000 miles (?????). Follow-up call w/service manager - stated that the continental tires are "very soft" and wear prematurely. Asked about the "cradle mod" - and he stated that the "cradle mod" and revised alignment specs would have been applied to this vehicle, since it is a 2006. Left front tire is now cupping again at 6,000 miles. Why are these tires performing so badly when goodyear tires (also shipped on this vehicle) are performing ok? why would chrysler continue to ship these vehicles w/the continental tires?

I own a 2006 toyota awd matrix with 25,000 miles. I brought the car in for service and asked them to check a vibration i felt when driving the car. They told me the tires (all 4)are cupping and need to be replaced. The tires had been rotated twice ( at 8,000 and 21,000 miles). I searched the internet to see if anyone else had problems and found the problem with cupping and premature tire wear was common. The postings refer to a manufacture problem. Ironically toyota discontinued awd in 2007 and owners of the newer models reported no tire wear problems.

During a 10-minute commute to work, my right rear continental contitouring contact ch95 (grand touring all-season) 175/65hr15, purchased and installed on 6/29/06, failed. The tread portion separated from the tire sides. The sides remained attached to the wheel rim. The tread, minus the tire sides, separated from the wheel and was found otherwise intact on the roadside behind my disabled vehicle. No accident occurred and no damage or physical injuries were sustained. A call to the retailer (the dealership where the tires and car were purchased) resulted in a response suggesting that some road hazard contributed to the failure and that would not be considered coming under the tire warranty. Upon seeing the failed tire, the nc state trooper and emergency roadside assistance technician disagreed, feeling that the tire might be defective.

Driver side rear tire blewout at 70mph on i-85 in atlanta , ga on july 26, 2002, at approx 4:30pm. No accident or injury, as i was able to keep control of the car. A continental tire dealer examined the tire and said there was no sign of a puncture or damage from road hazard. The dealer could not determine why the tire failed. The failur was a seperation of the tread from the side walls. The dealer contacted continental and they agreed to replace the tire at no charge.

Conti seal tire doesn't seal its self.a staple lodged in tire, tire losing air, took tire in found staple and remove it. Told me it was a self sealing tire and they were unable to do any thing, tire should seal on its own.tire does not seal air loss daily, have to refill daily. Tire has less than 7000 miles, andis on a brand new car. I am concerned for my safety now that i know these tires are defective, and do not perform as advertised.

Tire tread came off during highway driving causing damage to the rear bumper. The tire did not deflate. Continental denied claim because the tire was previously repaired for a puncture. The puncture repair remained intact and as far as i could see had nothing to do with the loss of the tread. Continental told me that the tire was likely to fail (tread come off) sooner or later because of the puncture repair. I find this statement to be incredulous as i was never notified in any of their service manualsthat repairing a puncture would render the tire unuseable. If i had know that i would have had the tire replaced (silly as that seems). At the very least contnental should be forced to notify all of the users of its tires that any sort of puncture - even if it is properly repaired - makes the tire unfit for the safe operation of the vehicle.we were not injured in the incident but we were almost killed as i temporarily lost control of the vehicle. When my wife depressed the accelerator in reverse, the pedal went to the floorboard with no engine reaction.approxiamtely 3-4 seconds later, the car violently took off backwards, ramming another car in our driveway.this action was repeatable for months and it was documented by the insurance adjuster as a major mechanical malfunction.dodge did not address that there was a problem and every time said there are no problems.we have found others with the same problem on the internet.this cost our insurance compnay several thousand dollars.also, the factory tires had very premature tire wear.i had to replace them at 18,000 miles.dodge did replace suspension parts under warranty prior to the premature tire wear.again, dodge said there was no problems with the car attributable to the tire wear.

Continental tires (all four) are separating along the tread and they claim the tires are not defective.

Rapid wear of tires on new car. Severely cupped and down to tread wear indicators in under 20000 miles.tire manufacturer andcar manufacturer unresponsive in replacement of tires.

I have experienced 2 blowouts on this set of tires. On inspection, the service rep (for the auto dealer, marshall bros.) found a third tire that was about to separate in much the same way. I just thought it was time to buy new tires. I went to my local goodyear dealer to replace the old tires. He told me they were still in very good shape, i did not need new tires. He believed that the one that had blown out was defective. What concerns me most were the comments made by both the lincoln service rep & the independent goodyear dealer. Thay both stated that the expeditions, navigators & explorers are extremely rough on tires. The lincoln service representative showed me an expedition that he was changing out all the tires- it was a 2001 expedition with less than 30,000 miles on the tires. This concerns me...in addition, marshall bros. Lincoln-mercury would not honor the warranty on the tires. I was told i would have to deal with the manufacturer. The continental mfr. Is very hard to locate. I'm still trying. I have possession of the most recent 2 failed tires @ home. The first blow-out was @ approximately 55mph when the car had 12,000 miles on it. Thank you. P.s. The owner of the vehicle is my father. He gave me the vehicle to drive this past december. He will verify or sign this report if needed.

I noticed a vibration between 25-40 mph. Dealer found belt separation and cracking. There are 5 or 6 other incidents of this on 1998 and 1999 volvo cars at this dealership. In just 32,000 miles we are now having to replace another set of tires. The first 2 went at just 11.000 miles and every 11,000 miles later. Is this standard? bmw says yes!( dot number: tire size: 2256015 )

As i was concluding my business day by driving home, my front right tire went flat.cardriven to a local tire dealer, he refuses to fix tire and says take it back to dealer because the tire was a factory default.my significant other returned to the dealership with the car on november 2, 2005.service department informed him that the tire damage was my fault, and refused to provide me with a new tire.a few days later, i noticed that my engine cover was hanging.i called my salesman, and he informed me that it probably occurred when the tire went flat. Nissan replaced the two screws, and i was on my way. Although i had experienced challenging times with the car, nothing prepared me for the horrific experience that occurred on thursday, november 24, 2005. I slowly drove down the grassy incline and proceeded left.i am certain that i was not going faster than five miles per hour because 1) i was on a hill, 2) my mother was in the car, 3) i was turning left, and 4) i was entering a two-lane street.the car was on the street, and i was straightening the car to ensure that we were safely in the right lane to continue down the street.while i was completing these actions, the car suddenly turned left as if it had a life of its own.in order to avoid hitting an suv and a mailbox, i had to steer for my life, my mother''s life, and this now maniac car. I ended up going up the embankment, down the embankment, up and down again. Finally, i was able to stop the car at my deceased uncle''s driveway.amazingly, only my tire and tire axle were destroyed.my mother and i were safe. I am now certain that after two tire incidents, seeing my car swerve on the highway, and listening to it click after possessing it for five days that this car is faulty.

My wife's 2005 chrysler 300 awd pulls to the right.dealer service center told me all tires have abnormal wear that was called cupping, and that they should not be rotatedthey are in the best position.also, an alignment cannot be performed because of the wear, but all tires should be replaced and quoted a goodyear tire price of $650.the tires are continental ch95 with sealer. The car has aproximately18,500 miles.

I was driving on the highway at about 75-80 just 5 mph over the speed limit here in florida. I heard a dunk, dunk, dunk then a huge thump and the car went swerving out of control, i tried to get to the left median..i was in the left lane... I wound up doing a 360 degree circle into oncoming traffic then another onto the right shoulder. I was driving my fathers freestyle. The tire, exploded, there are only 8000 miles on the car, its almost a yr old. Things like this shouldn't be happening. Inormally drive a 1996 escort which i have also had many many problems with.i am unhappy with ford and angry with the way they brush it off. They say oh, it must have been the tire companies fault. Don't they test drive their vehicles before they put them on the market? they know common problems... I almost died during my 360 degree turns on the highway today, watching a 16 wheeler come at me...i was lucky it missed. Its a shame the outside of fords look so nice but its everything else that matters... I would much rather drive a toyota - and i would be safer on a bicycle.

Right front tire was vibrating. Thought was out of balance so had tires rotated and balanced. My father has been in the car business all his life and said that my tires should have been good for at least 30,000 miles - especially with the low mileage i have.i have found so many complaints on the internet against continental and premature tire wear. There is obviously a problem that needs to be addressed.it is both a safety issue and a financial issue.who wants to shell out $400 for new tires when they don't even last as long as they are supposed to!i am so scared to drive right now because i am afraid of a tire blowout. I am also going to write a letter to continental and request that they either replace all my tires or at least give me pro rata for new tires. Nhtsa - please look into this further!!!

My 2005 dodge magnum has 11,000km on it and the tires are down to the wear bars.the dealership denies any responsibility and the tire manufacturer (continental) will not do anything. I think that this is a safety issue and should be given more attention by both chrysler and the tire manufacturer. There are already 42 complaint files about this online and it should warrant a closer look.

Noticed that the driver side front tire was flat, put on the spare and took car to the closest tire repair shop (good year tire). Turns out that the tires tpms (tire-pressure monitoring system) sensors threads striped causing the sudden loss of air pressure in the tire. I own a 2004 nissan maxima sl. It has 21,450 miles on it. During a regular maintenance procedure at the dealership, i found out that all 4 oem continental tires had longitudinal cracks on the inside sidewall. I asked the dealership for the tire waaranty and they sent me to the local continental distributor for tire checkup. The distributor found indeed that all tires were defective and needed repalcement and the dealership advised me not drive the car for long periods of time or in the highway because tire might fail. Even tough both the tire distributor and the dealer agree that these tires need repalcement, both are blaming each othe and giving me the long run. Feel very unsafe driving this car. I truly beleive this is a serious safety issue and both the dealership and the tire manufacturer should solve this problem as soon as practical. Can you help?

I left my automobile, 2002 mercury sable, at the dealership for its 25,000 mile maintenance and asked them to look at the front end as it was shimmering over 40 mph. I was told that all four tire walls were cracking and that the tires had to be replaced at my cost less allowance. I was furious and called several people at the dealership and the tire company to complain. The tire company told me that cracked sidewalls were covered in the warranty and if it was not the tires should be replaced at no cost to me. The dealership told me this was not covered yet after i called the tire company the said that some of the management people at the dealership learned of my problem and gave the service department orders to replace the tires at no cost without calling the tire company. They also specified that the tires would have to be shipped back to ford motor company. The whole thing smells of a cover-up because of the immediate turn around at the dealership when i mentioned a lawsuit. All four of these tires could have blown one at a time or together causing injury and i do not feel good about this.

3 tires with egg size bubble(s) on inside sidewall of tire, two tires had 2 bubbles. Fourth tire was replaced last spring for same defect. Defect noticed during a brake inspection, one week after tires had been remounted after snow tires were removed.

After a 600 mile trip on the pennsylvania turnpike, by left rear tire sidewall failed.the outer wall separated from the inter cord for about 3 inches.the manufacturer said it was not a manufacturing problem.the tire was almost new.it had 3,700 miles on it, was properly inflated and i hit no road hazard.the tire lost air and we lost control of the car.some minor damage.it appears to have failed due to heat.manufacturer: continental, conti-touring contact p225/55r17 95v.it was original equipment on a nissan 2004 maxima.i replaced the tire with same and kept the defective tire.

Side wall bubble leading to low speed (<10 mph) blowout.

2005 chrysler crossfire with continental tires. At 12000 miles the right rear tire developed a side wall bulge on the inside. I felt the bumping but did not see the problem. While traveling on interstate 70 the tire blew out. The dealer claimed road hazard damage and i had to purchase a new tire.at 20300 miles the left rear tire developed a bulge on the inside. This time i removed the tires to look for the problem. This tire has not blown out and the bulge is evident. Again the dealer is claiming road damage. Two tires, same manufacturer developed the same problem. If truly was road hazard why was there no bulges or ruptures on the outside side wall?

Dt:the contact states while driving at 65 mph the rear passenger tire blew out on the sidewall.he was able to pull the vehicle over and change the tire.he has not contacted the dealership or manufacturer.

Had on jag x type conti touring contact 205/55 16had four of these tires all at separate times have sidewall failures. 2 rear tires had bulges after a pothole.one front tire going into car wash cut sidewall--owner never saw this happen before.another tire recently pulling into parking space curb was scrubbed and it cut sidewall.clearly these tires have very poor sidewall construction.heard problems on the net like this from others as well.

Tread separation on 4 tires.(tiresize: p205/65r15)

I recently experienced complete and partial tire wall separation on 3 of 4continental touring contact a/s p215/65r-16 tires during one 1200 mile trip. The tire wall separation occurred on my 2002 nissan quest which had only 9500 miles on the vehicle. The three tire wall separations occurred suddenly while driving at highway speed resulting in two near-serious accidents and collisions. Upon inspection by a nissan service center and local tire distributor, two tires were found to have very obvious and total tire wall separation and one tire was found to have partial separation. There was no indication of any tire punctures or obvious damage that may have caused the tire wall separations. Despite the vehicle being under factory warranty, the dealership was unwilling to assume any responsibility associated with continental tire failure. Upon contacting the continental customer service hotline, continental tire was unwilling to offer any form of reimbursement for the defective tires that left me stranded in two states because the replacement tires were replaced with non-continental tires and replaced at an unauthorized continental dealer. The only compromise that they were willing to make was to replace the defective tires with another continental brand tire if an authorized continental tire dealer verified the tire wall separation. Due to the obvious defectiveness of this brand of continental tires, i was unwilling to jeopardize my family's safety by placing another continental brand tire on my vehicle.*ph

While driving 75 mph, the front driver side tire tread separated without warning.

Continental, contitouring, 19565r15; without any indication front tire blewout. Consumer noticed tread separation. Please provide further information.

Rapid wear of tires on new car. Severely cupped and down to tread wear indicators in under 20000 miles.tire manufacturer andcar manufacturer unresponsive in replacement of tires.

Dt:the caller said the tires were wearing out too soon.thevehicle hydroplaned in light rain. He said the front tires are at 3/32, and the rear are at 4/32 on the tire measurement. There is only 18,000 miles on the vehicle.the callersaid that he had other complaints regarding this problem. The dealer said to get in touch with searswho in turn got in touch with the manufacturer.they said they would give the caller a discount if he brought another set of tires.*mr

2000 mercedes benz s500 equipped with continental contact touring 22560hr16 tires had steel belting protruding between tread and next layer at 18000 mi. Replaced all 4 with new identical tires. Replaced again after 20000 mi due to tread separation. In january 2006, after 10000 mi, a blowout on the highway 101 "grapevine". Was able to control the car, used spare to get home, and had the tire replaced due to tread separation. Had the car in for service several times due to an unusual vibration, and was informed that i had 2 defective tires in the front which were replaced february 21st 2006. On friday march 3rd, on a dry cool straight freeway, a catastrophic blowout on the front drivers tire caused the car to veer left into a bridge curb causing major damage. These tires have got to be dangerous! to many failures for new tires.

2nd problem w/ continental brand tires on my 2002 nissan altima. Original set was replaced (50/50% payed) between nissan corporation & continental corporation at approx. 18,000 miles on vehicle.replacement set showing/displaying same problems....pre-mature wear, cracks in treads, flat spots.tires have been rotated at suggested manufacturer intervals, and i have service records to verify again.

Purchased 2005 ford freestyle new in late 2005.in early 2007, with approximately 17,000 (yes, only 17k) miles on the vehicle, dealership starting telling me that i'll need to be thinking about new tires in the next 1-2 oil changes (which is 3-6,000 miles).i now have approximately 24k miles and i do need new tires.these tires wore extremely prematurely.these are the same manufacturer of tires that i see are recalled on ford's f150 (2005 ford f-150 recall id from nhtsa: 05t022000) and continental is replacing them free of charge for those vehicle owners.i see no reason why continental shouldn't be held responsible for replacing these tires on the 2005 ford freestyle as well.the tires are continental 215-65-17.last year, one of the tires also blew out and i had to replace it so now there are only 3 original tires on the vehicle.i'm logging today's date as the incident date since there's not a specific date but rather 2 years of premature tire wear. * updated 12/12/07 updated 12/12/07

Excessive treadwear after only 20,000 miles on oem continental touring contact as tires, on my 2003 toyota camry le.

The tires on toyota matrix's are wearing out after 15000 miles.this is on all toyota matrix cars and toyota is denying any problems.the following link is one of many that outlines the issues (http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0eeece/0)

The 05 dodge magnum i purchased came with continental tires from the factory. The tires currently have eighteen thousand miles and are near bald. The front tires showed cupping at twelve thousand miles and the front end had to be re aligned. The tires are touring , i believe . They are worthless on snow and ice.

Rapid wear of tires on new car. Severely cupped and down to tread wear indicators in under 19000 miles.tire manufacturer andcar manufacturer unresponsive in replacement of tires.

2005 dodge magnum. Pulled to right when first purchased.tires were aligned and balanced.wear on tires. Replaced tires after 18000 miles due to a blowout on right rear tire. Tires had no tread on outside edge and overall tire. Dealer would only pay for two tires. Car pulled to right after new tires installed. The vehicle had all four tires aligned and balanced. The dealer paid for the alignement and balance under warranty. The vehicle pulled harder to the right after the alignment, contacted the business of where the vechicle was aligned. The vehicle was taken again, and had the owner personally check the vehicle before and after the alignment. The dealership would not cover this charge. The car pulled harder to the right than before. The car has 23000,and the tireswore outand will needed to bereplaced again soon.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet uplander.the vehicle has continental contitouring tires, size a/s p225-60r17 (na).while performing a routine inspection, the dealer discovered that the tires were cracking between the tread.the failure was caused by heat and the dealer stated that the cracks in the tires were normal.he took the tires to another mechanic and was informed that the tires were unsafe.the contact believes that a recall should be issued due to the severe safety risk involved.he called the manufacturer and was informed that he would be responsible for replacing the tires.the current and failure mileages were 25,000.updated10/29/09 the consumer stated while washing the tires, he noticed cracks between the treads. The dealer stated the cracks were due to heat. Updated 11/02/09.

Continental oem tires cupped and at wear indicator at 16,000 miles. Tires regularly rotated.continental denied any responsibility nor did they offer any form of adjustment.

Today, the roads are slightly slippery, but while everyone around us stopped at a traffic light without problem, my wife and i were unable to stop, careening through a red light. Thankfully, there were no oncoming cars. The problem is, we discovered, our tires. Our toyota matrix xr 2wd 2005, and our oem continental tires, has 29,078 miles. Yet our measurements indicate that all four oem tires have a tread of 2/16" (outer) and 3/16" (inner). This is premature wear. Our dealerships service center has said that they have found this to be a problem, yet they offer us no help or solution.

Wire is showing through tread of tire, and tire appears to be shredding.consumer has kept up regular tire maintenance.tire size: 205/55r15/dot no. 94hch95, less than 30000 miles, original tires.consumer has a 1999, volvo, c70.

Consumer's vehiclehad two continental contitouring contact tires made from the same manufacturer. The two tires, which were located on the right side of the vehicle, blew out. The right rear tire experienced tread separation around 17000 miles .

In snowy conditions the anti-lockbrakes failed, causingvehicle to skid.the tires had 1/2 tread life.the dealer blamed the tires.(tire, anti-lock brakes, and or awd was the problem) *sc

Consumer had vehicle a little more than two years and vehicle went through 12 tires in that length of time.if there are defects in the road tires will get bubbles while driving. Car has 25,000 miles. 2001 bmw 330; continental contitouring tires; radius ;200550r17.

The contact owns a 2006 toyota matrix.the contact stated that under cold conditions or if the vehicle is parked for an extended length of time the tires would create a flat spot and produce a loud road noise when driving.after the vehicle has been driven for a while the noise and the flat spot would leave. The contact called the manufacturer , but no repairs were made.the current and failure mileage were 6,008.

At 14,000 miles the continental tires on the 2005 dodge magnum (awd/6-cyl) show wear bars and have less than 1/8th inch of tread left on front tires, 1/4 inch of tread left on rear tires.tires do not live up to wear rating.

On our way to the mayo clinic in rochester, mn. When the left front tire suddenly started to disintegrate. Pulled over to the side of the road where the toll road truck came and changed tire....illinois state trooper stopped and filed a accident report.

The passenger side front tire was cupping with over 50% of tread wear remaining.the tire's tread seemed to be seperating from the sidewall. *sc

On 3 separate occasionstires experienced tread separation. This occurred onboth rear tires. The cause of the tread separation wasunknown, but the dealership indicated that thiswas a common problem with these model tires.

Iown a 2005 ford freestyle which i bought brand new. Itwasoriginally equipped with continental contact touring tires, 215-65-17 - ct95. The four tireswere completely worn out with 19,000 miles. Continental statedtherewasno tread life warranty for thesetires. Ford insistedthiswas a problem to be solved by continental. I have read several complains about those tires over the internet. It seemedtherewasa design or quality problem with this product.

My car was taken to a local body shop on 4/4/2007 for what we thought was a steering problem.i found out however, that on one of my front tires the tread had completely separated on 50% of the tire!it was the continental 205/60r15 touring contact.i had them replace it with a contipro contact of the same size.three weeks later, my other front tire separated on at least 40% of the tire, with a huge bulge.the tires are less than a year old, with less than 8,000 miles on them!both of the failing tires caused severe steering problems, and both had to be replaced.the incidents came upon very rapidly, and was very unsafe to drive on.

While driving 70 mph, with the driver only, vehicle commenced to vibrate/shake from the back.consumer was able to drive the vehicle off the main freeway, andnoticed that right rear tire showed thattread was completely separated from the sidewall. After market tires installed at 36,060 miles, tire size p185/65r14, dot# ac763jd2500.the tire was mounted on a honda civic 1997 vehicle.consumer has the tire available for analysis, and the tire dealer was notified.

2002 jaguar x type developed tire belt separation.*mrprior to the separation the vehicle vibrated while being driven.

Continental tires on 2005 dodge magnum r/t. At 13400 miles there was less than 1/8" tread. Wear bars were showing on all 4 tires. These tires do not live up to their listed wear ratings.

Continental tires (all four) are separating along the tread and they claim the tires are not defective.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds in snowy conditions, the vehicle was unable to sustain traction control.the vehicle was inspected by an independent repair shop who determined all four tires were prematurely worn, but did not need to be replaced at that time due to the remaining tread.the problem persisted, and the contact referred to another independent repair shop who replaced all four tires due to the extensive tread wear.the manufacturer was alerted.the tires were continental contitouring 195/65r15, dot radial 91hch95.

Sudden flat (not blowout); left rear. Tire unrecoverable.

Tires continually blow out due to defective rims.
