Purchased this vehicle in 2002, there is a smell like mildew coming from the a/c had it tested- high mold spore counts in cabin. The air bag light goes on and off. Are these going to work if i should need them? this vehicle has been in the shop 50 times within 3 years for these problems and many more.
Both drive shafts , fuel tank andsunroof were replaced, the sunroofmalfunctioned-3 or more times, the blinkers and lights failed, tires blew out, air bag light remained on, the passenger front seat belt malfunction, trunk latch issues, heating and ac system had gone out, surge in engine on acceleration, rubbing noise in steering column, constant whining noise in engine, fuel gauge not working, odometer stopped working while on the freeway, no bright lights except when the car was shut off, interior lights remained on after the car was shut off, safety latch on consolefailed twice, burning smell from the engine 3 times. Problems have been ongoing since purchase of car approximately 12/2002. The rubbing noise occurred when the vehicle was turned left, the center console arm rest moved backward and forward while the vehicle was in motion, the driver's seat belt shoulder pivot made a squeaking noise when in motion, the seat belts did not retract, the air bag warning light stayed on until the key as switched off, and the turn signals were inoperative.(the dealer replaced the buckle) *sc
The left rear tire experienced a blowout and splitted at the sidewall , which caused an accident, and the air bags failed to deploy. Continental touring contact as.dot # unknown.
While driving 60 mph the driver door side air bag unexpectedly deployed.*nlm the consume r noticed the passenger side tires had a small orange size bubble in each tire.(the consumer didn't hit anything and there was nothing in the road) *sccas a result of the unexpected air bag deployment, the consumer suffered hearing loss.
While driving on drum avenue in kensington maryland i was going approximately 25mph when i heard a loud bang and then my passenger side air bag deployed.at the time i had my 11year old grandson and one of his friends in the back seat.apparently my tire blew out and when the rim hit the ground my airbag deployed causing the astronomical expenses.a side air bag should not deploy on a tire blow out and there is no side impact. When slightly raining, the light sensor seems to only work intermittently thereby not always turning on the lights in auto mode.this seems to be a problem only in rain during the day when the sensor has a hard time distinguishing when to turn on and when to turn off.

Headlights and dash lights make substantial flicker/pulse while driving after the vehicle sits for several hours (all day at work or overnight).the flicker/pulse is noticeable enough that two vehicles i was following have pulled over to let me pass and i get many strange looks from other drivers. Vehicle was examined at selling dealer on 2/15/05, work order states "vehicle appears to be operating within design spec's at this time." this safety defect still exists. Also, tires flat spot after same time as stated above. For the first 3-4 miles, at speeds greater than 45 mph, tires make thumping noise and car shakes. Shaking is felt through seat and steering wheel. After 3-4 miles, thump and shake gradually disappear. Tire dealer has not answered questions regarding replacement through continental after one visit and later phone call.

I have a 2006 toyota camery v6 and it has major transmission problems. The transmission doesn't properly change gears. The car drives slower than a car with a v4 engine. It seems to stall for a few seconds when attempting to change gears. I've taken it the dealer 4 times. Currently this car only has 12,000 miles and the dealer changed the transmission once. When i came back again and again with the same complaint the dealer claims that the car is operating as designed. I've gone into arbitration with toyota and they claim that there's nothing wrong with this car.
Consumers vehicle is experiencing erratic shifting. When accelerating from a stop car will hesitate and jerk. This problem seems to only occure whil the transmission is inlower gears.the vehicle has been taken to the deler at least three times but they have not been able to locate or fix the problem. The consuemr has also contacted tehe manufcature but they provided no assistance.the tire have excessive wear at only 16000 miles.
No warning events. Automatic shifter freezes in gear. Repaired once - recurred. Repaired again - recurred. Wiring rerouted to another circuit - shifter now jerks as it goes into gear. We are concerned about failure again. Mercedes claimed that a case file was set up and that we were the only incident in the us. We called afterthe most recent incidence and we were informed that no case file was established by the dealer. In addition, right rear tire thread bare after 8,000 miles of use in light driving - 85% city.

During the last state inspection, it was brought to my attention that all 4 tires on my 2005 mazda tribute were worn on the inside edge only. The service advisor stated that he had seen this problem before and that the solution to this issue was to just replace the tires. The car has 26,843 miles on it, has never been driven off-road or used to tow anything. I could understand wear across the tread, but this is limited to just the inside edge. I called the mazda customer service center in california and after speaking to a manager a representative did state to me that he had heard of this problem before as well. I did talk to continental, the tire manufacture and they told me that first of all there is no warranty on oem tires, and this kind of wear can only mean there is something wrong with the car. I have documented service records and the maintenance schedule has been followed to the letter including tire rotation. The final decision to help me was the district manager from mazda and he told me quote ?the car has 30,000 miles on it, your lucky to get that kind of mileage from those tires, you should just get new ones? i am also afraid that just putting new tires on the car will only be a band-aid and i will have this problem again in 30,000 miles.

I had 2 tires go suddenly flat on the same day. Car had only 4500 miles at the time. No obvious punture or damage. Replaced at my expense at local tire dealer because bmw dealer did not have in stock.1 week later, i read about nhtsa recall #00v383 and contacted both dealer and bmw usa after dealer replied that he was unaware of recall. After having him research further, i was simply told that my bmw 330xi, manufactured during the questioned timeframe was not included in recall. I got the same from bmw usa. I question how 2 virtually brand new tires would both go flat on the same day at the same time? i contacted continental tires who were also unaware of the recall and after explaining them these circumstances, they readily agreed to reimburse me $100 as a good faith gesture. I paid over $400 for the tires, plus balancing, plus had to rent a car for a week since bmw and local tire center did not have in stock. I'm not convinced that bmw has faithfully resolved this issue with me, since they did not even inspect the wheels after my new tires were mounted. I don't think they could tell whether of not the first set were mounted properly or not and have simply dismissed me without any assurance or verification that my bmw wasn't possibly affected by this manufacturing problem.please contact me at 630-620-7348 if there is anything you can provide or follow up on to truly see whether i am owed new wheels, reimbursement, etc. Thank you in advance, barry glustoff.(tiresize: 17)

All the other tires have the same thing, but not as big.some parts already flow away.the rubber feels like it lost the softener and goes very hard.just by random, i have seen it.i already changed the tires to new ones, but i saved 2 tires of the damaged tires.
Hi!this is regarding my camry 2002. Tires started balding unevenly, noticed at 4000 miles secondary to faulty alignment. Tires front two only replaced by toyota on lodging a complaint. Tires were again balding after another 4000 miles or so. Faulty alignment. Toyota and dealer refuse to acknowledge my concerns and have got alignment checked on a monthly basis times 3 and has been faulty on each occasion. Tires went completely worn out, bald with the metal wires coming out.(have all 4 tires as evidence). I had to purchase four new tires and get the alignment fixed on each occasion within the first one year of purchasing my new camry. I have spent more than $1000 on tires and alignment and toyota refuses to help me out in correcting the faulty alignment and all the trouble i have been through witha new car!!! *la
I previously reported this. See file # 748060- i have never rec'd any response or acknowledgement. I experienced 2 flat tires simutaneously at high speed with no previous warning or indication of anything improper, etc. I only had 4400 miles on this vehicle and find hard to believe that this could occur. After replacing at my expense, since my dealer informed me that anything could happen to tires and that they weren't responsible, i learned of nhtsa recall # 00v383. (please refer to the specifics of this recall before proceeding).i took delivery of my car in nov. 2000, therefore it was en route by sea in oct. 2000 and manufactured in sept. 2000. After notifying my dealer, they said they had "checked my vin number and determined that my car wass not affected. I find this hard to believe and do not know how to verify except by asking you to investigate. Bmw usa was contacted via e-mail and provided no answers, explanations, or verification of their claim.please investigate this and provide me with some kind of explanation as to whether this was some freak coincidence that bmw is not responsible for or that they should replace my wheels, etc. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter. In 2016, at around 85,000 miles the big o tires, located at 3415 s maryland pkwy, las vegas, nv 89169, installed four new tire on my cayenne s, 2005. The tire manufacturer is continental and all tires are of 275/45/19 size.anticipating a 470 miles trip on june 8, 2018 from las vegas to moab, ut, on the previous day i check all tires for pressure and appearance. The pressure of the rear tires was set at 40 psi. No visible damages were detected. On the day of the trip, at 80 mph the rear left tire suddenly lost pressure requiring significant efforts to control the vehicle. As soon as i managed to stop and look at the problem tire, i noticed that about 70% of the tread layer was separated from the body of the tire. At that time, the odometer indicated that the tires were used only for about 3,500 miles. When i contacted big o tire in las vegas on monday, june 11, 2018, the first comment the manager was that the accident was caused by a defective tire. However, two days after receiving the car and the damaged tire, he informed me that continental refused to take responsibility in this case. They have determined that a low air pressure caused the damage.knowing the facts, i believe that continentals conclusion is most probably incorrect. I strongly recommend that for the safety of millions of users of tires manufactured by continental, this case is investigated.

While driving on i-95 approaching baltimore, md i began to feel a shaking in the steering wheel in the1997 toyota camry, and then all of a sudden a loud knocking like something was wrong withthedriver's side front tire. I thought i had a blowout. I steered thecar to the nearest location on the side of the interstate and found that the tread separated fromthe continental - sportive metric 195/ tubules radial tire. This tire completely ripped off and bent the exterior car panel right in front of the bidder and to the left and below the hood which covers the wheel well and ripped up my wiring harness. A courtesy vehicle stopped to assist me and called it in to aaa who sent tow truck to bring me to a auto repair shop.i still have not the damage repaired.however, the repair man was able to reconnect the wires that powered theelectronic fuel pump, power steering, lights, etc and replaced the fuses that blew. However the car will need some body/electrical work to repair the damage caused by the tire. I kept the tire and the pieces in thetrunk.

I had 2 tires go suddenly flat on the same day. Car had only 4500 miles at the time. No obvious puncture or damage. I don't think they could tell whether of not the first set were mounted properly or not and have simply dismissed me without any assurance or verification that my bmw wasn't possibly affected by this manufacturing problem.please contact me at [xxx] if there is anything you can provide or follow up on to truly see whether i am owed new wheels, reimbursement, etc. Thank you in advance, [xxx].(tiresize: 17)information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Hello!i ownan audi tt which i got from tisher audi in silver spring in march 2006.ihad 2 tire blow outs since february 2007.audi told me that the tire it recommendedfor the carwas a low aspect ratio tire , which waseasily susceptible to blow out.they felt that i purchased a tire protection policythat covered the cost of replacing tires frequently andthattheproblemwasresolved.they refused to acknowledge there wasa safety problemwith fitting cars with tires that wereeasily susceptible to blow outs due to a shorter tire wall, and they blamed the road conditions rather than the easily susceptible tires.more than one person at tisher audi acknowledged that multiple customers hadto replace frequently tires due to blow outs.i foundit unconscionable that audi refusedto address this as a consumer safety concern.my last blow out occurred while i was driving on the interstate and was a very precarious situation.please investigate this consumer concern.your considerationwasmuch appreciated.

I purchase a 2006 mercury mariner on february 18, 2006, at price lincoln mercury in centennial, co.when i purchase this vehicle it had 15 miles on the odometer.i was instructed by the sales rep that i should avoid driving this vehicle over 55 mph to allow the engine to break in properly.i starting having a shimming and vibration when the vehicle get to 60 and above.this shimming is coming from the front suspension.i have taking this vehicle to two different mercury dealership trying to get this problem resolved.the last result by one of the dealership was to replace all four tires, they replace all for tires and i am having the same problem.i contacted the ford motor co to report the problem and possible get them to replace or repurchase the vehicle which they refuse to do so.there response to me is that this is something i will have to deal with, because this is the normal behavior of this vehicle.i am writing to you for help because it is hard for me to accept that this vehicle operating the way is as describe by ford.this vehicle drive smooth until it get to 60, and i have taken is back to the dealers five or more time for repairs for the same issues.please help in resolving this problem.
Continental oem tire on honda crv causes vehicle to slide out of control on snow covered roads and constantly lose traction in rear.we have had numerous near accidents because of the poorly designed low rated tires. My wife is afraid of driving the crv now. (2) honda dealers inspected vehicle for possible vehicle stability assist problem and both dealers confirmed that vsa was functioning properly. Dealer #2 stated that he had similar issues with other crv owners because of the tires. Looking at tire reviews on line the continental contact 4 x 4 is rated as a very poor tire that wears out very quickly and with similar issues as i have stated. Even the authorized continental dealer in my area says the tires are poor quality and has rarely seen them make 20,000 miles. Honda won't admit they made a poor choice putting this unsafe cheap tire on the crv.i started having problems with the tires at 5000 miles. I now have 8000 miles on the vehicle. Honda america who was absolutely no help will only refer you to the tire dealer even though it was their choice to put this unsafe tire on the crv as original equipment. Hondas suggestion was that i run chains.our winters here in northwest pa run from november to march. I don't know anyone other than the us mail vehicles and plow trucks that run chains.what a stupid suggestion. I bought the crv 4 wd for peace of mind, fuel economy and safety. I experience what i believe was a tread separation in the tire while traveling on i 15 in arizona, on the way to las vegas. As the tire noise and vibration increased, i began to let off the gas, preparing to slow the vehicle down, when the tire blew out, and then coasted to a stop along the curved interstate highway.upon inspection of the tire, it was noted that both sidewalls had separated from the tread, and the vehicle had run a short distance on the aluminum wheel.that friday afternoon we called continental's customer service number, but they were closed until monday.the ford dealer in grand junction advised us to see a linclondealer in las vegas.the desert lincoln dealer 702-257-0687 (russ schoenbeck) said that we would have to talk to a continental tire dealer because lincoln did not warranty the tires on the 2000 navigator, but did now warrant the tires on the 2001 navigator.he said that he has seen three other 17 inch tire failures on the navigators, one with massive tread speration that damaged the customers sheetmetal.the customer, a broker, convinced continental to repair the sheet metal on his vehicle.i had the tire replaced at discount tire in las vegas 702-451-1453 and had to pay full price for a new tire because i would not let discount tire have the damaged tire, in case i had to prove the faulty tire caused the wheel to my vehicle.i have the tire in my possession.if you feel that you would like to inspect it, please get in touch with me propmtly.i did report the tire problem to ford motor company1-800-521-4140 expressing my concerns that the tire is dangerous and should be recalled.she said that ford does not warrant the tires. My continental tires are worn after only 3 years without excessive wear or extreme conditions. I drive a 2005 chevy trailblazer. I will have to replace all of them soon to keep my family and myself safe. I have a friend with the same continental tires on the same vehicle. She has had to replace her tires and i think her vehicle is a 2006 chevy trailblazer. A few weeks ago, one tire simply shredded to pieces as she drove along on the expressway. I noticed there was an accident in orlando, fl with a gmc envoy in which a blown tire was reported as the reason for the accident in which the vehicle flipped and trapped a teenager inside. I am really concerned about these tires and would like for someone to take a serious look at the quality before more lives are endangered. I don't know what type tires are on the gmc but since they are similar vehicles, i assume the tires are probably similar.

Thecontact stated he did have the tires rotated 3 times before the dealer indicated the tires needed to be replaced.the consumer did contact the manufacturer and they were not willing to assist.
Dealer rotated tires for normal maintenance.returned home with the car and the next day noticed a vibration.assumed dealer did not balance, so called and made appointment to return car.dealer checked car and found the tires to be "feathering".was not told this when tires were rotated.dealer found maintenance bulletin on the same continental 16 in tires on 2005 altima's,but the vin number of my car was not included in the bulletin.dealer told me the problem was with the tires to go to a tire dealer and the company would pro-rate new tires.the tire dealer said the problem was with the car, not the tires and refused to take any action. Nissan dealer then referred me to the nissan co. Talked to nissan consumer affair's, they also refused to take any action, stating again that it was a tire problem, not a car problem.then called continental tire co and they refuse to take any action, sating again, it was a mechanical problem with the car...as evidenced by the maintenance notification published by nissan.based on the fact that nissan has documented the same problem exists with 2005 altima's regarding feathering of tires, i feel they should be responsible for replacing these tires.because i don'tknow for sureif it is a tire problem or a mechanical problem with the car, i have no confidence that if i buy new tires for the car that i won't have the same problem with tire feathering in the near future.what are my options?.

My parents have owned three lincoln navigators with 17 in conti trac continental tires from the factory.my mothers 98 navigator had a tire tread separate.my fathers 99 navigator had a tire tread separate also.now his 2000 navigator with 17 in conti trac tires is developing the same "tire thumping" as the other two vehicles did.a separation usually follows.we have replaced one tire, replaced the entire set on a second vehicle and are awaiting a more complete separation on the latest vehicle.......these 17 inch tires are junk.i know the government has recalled the 16 in, tires on navigators of the same brand but the 17 inch ones are just as bad... I have power of attorney over both my aging parents and felt compelled to write you and let you know of this dangerous situation....sincerely,rodger d. Connor.(tiresize: 17 inch)

In the last 4 months the four original equipment tires on my vehicle have had tread separation.my car is approx 1.5 years old and 17000 miles.i have had the problem occur as i take a 200 mile trip on the turnpike.on each of three trips a tire has gone bad, on the last trip two tires went bad.the first tire i replaced on my own, the second tire i contacted continental and they sent me to an authorized dealer where they found the tire defective (tread separation).i was offered a pro-rata price for the tire.currently i contacted continental once again and they told me to go to the authorized dealer to check the tires.i feel that this is not an isolated occurance and having the four tires with the same problem within this short time frame is unusual and dangerous.the trips i have taken include my whole family, this is a seriouly safety concern.

I have had three tread separations since buying this truck new. The first on 02/98, the second 05/06/00 which caused $750 body damage and the third on 08/10/00 which occured during the repairs in the meantime from the second one.continental tire paid for the second tires damage but balked at the third. I am suing them in small claims court for $2200 for the repair of the truck. We go to arbitration june 14th, 2001 in benson az.these tires are a piece of junk.i would had a rolloverif i had been driving any faster than i did (55 mph)andhad not been alert to the situation. Temperature had nothing to do with it as the 2nd on occured late at night and the 3rd was in the morning. I cannot express my grief invoved in this, ameritech tires should never ever be sold on any vehicle and dealing with this company is fruitless as they intentially destroyed the tire and evidence even though i have proof that i called to claim the tire back four times. They claim the tire had a repair in it which caused the flat. The tire never lost air and it was the tread that fell off, not a flat tire. But they destroyed the evidence.we are not dealing with a decent manufacturer. We are dealing with a company that makes tires that are "unsafe at any speed". And they know it. My wife was driving our 2000 expedition on the freeway at 60mph when the tread separated on the right rear tire, causing a blow out and an accident, almost causing a catastrophic rollover. I am fortunate she was not killed. What irritates me the most is general tire has a reputation for this problem, especially here in arizona, and the consumer has no idea. These tires were not worn and were properly inflated, and the only legal recourse i would have against general tire would have been if my wife and infant child had been seriously injured. I am incensed about this as the only reason general will get away with this is due to the fact my wife's driving skills saved her life. My opinion is general and ford continue to deceive the public about the safety of the product they are putting on the road, and there is no repercussion for their negligence.

Tread separation of low mileage continental tr 265/70/ 17 suv tires- no accident occured, problem noted by ford service dept during servicing.
The tire failure occurred while driving eastbound i-10 in the right lane, approx. 40 miles west of phoenix az.the local time was approx. 3:30 pm.outside temp. Was 102 f according to the vehicle's thermometer.the vehicle was normally loaded, & was inspected prior to departing on the trip - including tire pressure & tread within specifications. My wife was driving at 75 miles per hour when we both sensed an abnormal vibration from the rear of the vehicle.the sensation was similar to driving over heavily grooved concrete.my wife asked what i thought of it, & i asked her to change the vehicle's speed to see if the sound changed.she decelerated around 5-10 mph, then was accelerating again when we heard a loud explosion from the left rear of the vehicle.the entire suv was jolted as if we had been struck from behind, followed by a loud flapping/thumping sound.i felt the vehicle yaw to the left, then fishtail right - left - and right again.this yaw oscillation was accompanied by a coupled rolling motion.my wife did not apply steering wheel or brake inputs, & removed her foot from the gas.the vehicle oscillations damped & then we coasted off onto the right shoulder. Upon inspection, the aft left tires tread separated from the tire body.the sidewall split in multiple locations.the tire tread was broken into two sections circumferentially and wrapped around the axle, brake, & suspension assemblies.this required substantial force to unwrap & remove.additionally, the lower aft portion of the affected wheel well was bent forward toward the axle into the space normally occupied by the tire.finally, the vehicle's rear fender was cracked in the area behind the left rear tire. The damaged tire was removed & the wheel well metal was bent out of the way on siteso the spare could be installed.the appraisal & repair process is ongoing.the tire was under oem warranty, & the manufacturer has been notified to expect a claim.
