Tread separation on continental sport lt suv tire size p265/70r16. Tires were purchased from walmart and 3 out of 4 have had thread separation. The first two, the seller replaced them with new one and since it happened in the city at low speed, no damage. Third one was at interstate i4 at 70 mph. Speed and suddenly the rear back tire make a banging noise hitting the fender and under the vehicle and following by heavy vibration and blow out. I was able to control the car and safely get to the break down lane. Heavy damage to the left fender, running board and damage to brake line and the driver side of the vehicle from rubber hitting the car.my car is chevy suburban and tire has less than 10,000 miles on them. The tires are continental p265/70r16. As i went to walmart, they do not carry the continental tires any more. Have not done any repair on the vehicle yet and have filed a complain with walmart only so far.

Traveling on highway, front-end begin to shim.shim became so hard speed was reduced to 45 mph.loud pop followed by huge piece of trend coming off & being left on highway. Slowly pulled over thinking a blow-out & found front-left driver's side tire had top layer of trend gone, but no air lost.
June 2008 i purchased a used 2008 ford escape. The tires are the same continental tires that were on there when i bought it. The insides of all 4 tires are wearing faster than the rest of the tread. Sounds like i have "mud" tires/aggressive tread. When the noise first started nov.2008 i thought it sounded like a wheel bearing, but those checked out fine. It wasn't until july 2009 that i figured out it was the tires making noise. I am guessing it is a problem with the tires as no mechanical problem can be found.
Bought new honda crv 2008 in aug 2008 from the dealer.sidewall blowout, 1075 miles on the car.traveling at 30mph when the tire blew.no incident prior to the blow out.my normal driving is to/from work--8 miles r/t and otherlocal driving. Last weekend went to atlantic city--300 miles round trip on highways.didn't hit any potholes etc. Good thing this didn't blow out on the hwy with my family in the car!the actual tire is conti 4x4 contact--this was not in the list from which to choose.
Tires are losing particles of the rubber. The tires are deteriorating in the middle mostly

Two tire failures within past 8 weeks.bought four continental sport lt/suv tires at walmart in colorado 6/18/04.installed on 2001 gmc savana (full size) passenger van 235/75r15.tires have under 30,000 use by summer 2006.in june 2006, right rear tire failed with major tread separation and metal cords unraveled beneath tread causing egg shape and tire to become partial shrapnel.it was hot day; occurred within 10 minutes of driving at highway speed; tire pressure had been checked same day and was good per sidewall max psi rating.replaced with pro rated discount.today, aug 29, 2006, another one of the tires failed in exact same manner!this was front right tire.tire had separation just beneath tread causing egg shape and adverse handling.i have photos saved this time of damage.tire pressure checked earlier same day and perfect per mfg psi rating on tire.hot day (again), highway travel in arizona for one hour when tire failed.tire coming apart internally, within tread area.i am now convinced something wrong with this whole batch of continental's from colorado in 2004.perhaps you will find more complaints as motorists hit 30,000 mark.
I am not happy with the original oem tires , which were continental sport lt/suv, lt235/85r16e, which according to the ford dealer i purchased the truck from, was installed on f350from the factory. On friday march 23, 2007 i experienced a tire separation on the right front tire of my truck. I was on the interstate doing the speed limit of 65 mph towing a light single wheel trailer when the tread separated damaging the fender, inner fender liner and the electrical wiring above the inner fender. We also noticed several wires were cut and no turn signals were working after this incident. I have since installed 6 new tires of the same size lt235/85r16e '' load range e and immediately compared the sidewalls of both the oem installed tires and the new tires i purchased. I asked the tire dealer for their opinion on the tire separation issue and they have replaced a number of tires for the same occurrence that happened to me.i believe ford motor company in conjunction with the tire manufacturer needs to do something in this situation as these continental oem tires are not suitable for install on f350 dualie'''s equipped with the diesel engine option. I am satisfied with the truck otherwise and would not hesitate to purchase another if the need arose. But i definitely would look at the tire situation in light of my experience.i also believe the manufacturer of the motor vehicle has a responsibility to specify a tire that is safe beyond a reasonable loading to prevent situations like this? also the tire manufacturer (dealer) also shares in this responsibility and can not abrogate the responsibility by looking at the tire from ten feet away and say it looks okay to us.

Dt:the contact stated two of continental contitractires have defects.the tire size is lt23585r16.the front passenger tire blew out while driving, causing damage to the fender, door, and bumper.he sent the tire to the manufacturer for inspection. They denied theclaim for reimbursement of the damage done to the vehicle. The manufacturerinsisted that the tire defect wascaused by running over something on the highway.this tire was replaced.one month later, the contactwas looking at the frontof driver's side tire and a foot long air bubble appeared, and the metal cord came out of the tire.this tire has not been replaced. He contacted the manufacturer, and asked the contact tosend back the first tire.he did not tell the manufacturer aboutthe defect with the second tire.he plannedon taking both tires to the dealership for inspection.
