In august, 2009 i purchased a 2003 ford escape xlt from economy honda in chattanooga, tn. The vehicle has contitec p235/70r16 tires on it. A routine overall vehicle inspection was done at that time. On thursday, november 19 i took my vehicle to a local lube shop to have the oil changed and when the attendant put air in the tires, he noticed cracks and tread was pulling away from all four tires and advised me not to drive too far before i replaced them (i had plans to go to nc this weekend).the following morning i took the vehicle to a continental tire dealer who verified the condition of the tires and recommended immediate replacement, which i did for $483.00.i see several recalls of contitec tires on your website for various reasons. Could there have been a recall on these tires. The car only had a little over 45,000 miles on it when i bought it. It especially upsets me to know my grandson has been in this vehicle with me riding on potentially dangerous tire.thanks. Tahona tate
The contact owns a 2001 ford expedition.the vehicle had continental grabber aw tires, size p275/60r17 (na) three years ago.at that time, all four tires had to be replaced because the vehicle drove roughly and the tires began to form bubbles.the tires were replaced at 30,000 miles at the contact's expense, even though there was a safety recall.the vehicle currently has general continental contitrac suv tires, size 275/60r17 (na) and they are experiencing the same failure.the contact would like to be reimbursed for the first set of tires that he replaced and to have the current tires replaced.he referenced nhtsa campaign id number 02t012000 (tires:tread/belt).the dot number was unknown.the vehicle current mileage was 68,000 and failure mileage was 30,000.the tire failure mileage was 5,000.
I own a 2008 ford escape xlt with 29,950 miles on the original continental contitrac suv tires. In the past 6 weeks, i have had 2 of the tires blow out while i was driving on the interstate. The tires appear to be in excellent condition. The 1st incident occurred on 7/26/10, when the right front tire blew. The tire technician who examined and replaced the tire (with a comparable continental tire) said that the tire failed due to belt/tread separation. The 2nd incident occurred on 9/6/10, when the left front tire blew out. We haven't replaced it yet, but the tire tech said it looked identical to the 1st tire, and had failed due to belt/ tread separation. I've contacted both ford motor comp. And continental tires. I want them to replace all 4 tires with a different brand. Considering that i was driving at 75mph when both tires blew, it's a miracle that i didn't wreck.

2008 ford escape we have a tire valve stem that is cracked for some reason it will not hold the correct air pressure but it may create a hazard if it pops off while driving down the road.
