Incident happened oct. 2, 2020... I was driving across an intersection, my wheel began to shake and i had no control over the vehicle... Very terrifying!! made it thru the intersection, was able to get of the road... When the mechanic (the man that pushed my car back to my residence) took a look under the bottom... It was totally rotted out, which in fact caused my wheel to detach form the vehicle ... I could have lost my life, now i am out of a vehicle no money and i have to pay insurance... Please i need help!! your abrupt attention in this matter is greatly appreciated.*dt*dt

The contact owns a 2021 tesla model y equipped with continental pro contact rx tires, tire size 5255/4r/19xl(n/a). While driving at approximately 60 mph, the contact stated that the front driver side tire popped as the low air pressure warning light appeared on the instrument panel. The contact pulled the vehicle over and had the vehicle towed to an independent tire mechanic. The mechanic could not determine the cause of the tire failure and did not have the proper tire size to replace the defective tire. The tire mechanic was finally able to order the tire from another city and repaired the tire nearly a week after the initial failure. The vehicle manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle had been repaired. The tire failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
Continental pro contact tire:non-road hazard tire sidewall failure on barely worn tire, potentially leading to loss of vehicle control and/or vehicle rollover.tire concern was initially indicated with a mild (~26 psi) low tire pressure warning.after stopping to inspect, no debris or other indication of puncture was noted, so pressure was added to return to factory settings.however, hours later and at highway speed, low tire pressure indication returned (to a similar low value in the mid-20's, followed within minutes by sudden pressure drop and tire disintegration.vehicle control was compromised due to sudden tire failure.upon tire removal at side of freeway, i noted that the interior tire sidewall was missing substantial chunks of rubber, a classic "blow out."the next day a very careful inspection by local discount tire store revealed absolutely zero indication of pre-failure pressure loss:no nail or other debris punctures in any part of the remaining tire, and zero/no indication of prior low-pressure operation (which could lead to tire overheating and subsequent failure).strongly suspect either a major construction or material defect was likely cause of this hazardous and nearly spontaneous tire failure, on a tire mounted on a new car under a year old, and with minimal tire wear.upon submission of this complaint i will contact discount tire and request tire be retained for submission/inspection, if desired; please advise promptly if you'd like to inspect the tire.

The contact also stated that the check your tpms warning message also illuminated on the instrument panel soon after the failure. The contact called road side assistance and had the tire replaced. The tire was part of a replacement set of tires which were replaced by the genesis dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage on the tire was 20,000.
