Front tire blew out at high speed in the evening of march 4 2007.tires were original from purchase of vw jetta on 8/27/05.tires were part of an upgrade performance package.the following numbers are on outer rim; 225/45 r17 91h contiprocontract.numbers on inner rim; dot afty pxh6 1105 and 225/45 r17 m-s e4 0224686 g4 0224002.i have a picture of the tire.car had less than 28, 898 miles on it at the time of the blowout.updated 05/05/08

2006 toyota matrix with alloy wheels and continental tires :at 5,000 mi rotation the steering wheel would move back and forth a bit, shimmy. At 10,000 mi rotation shimmy was worse and noise was noticed. At 14,000 mi dealer service said that noise was due to severe cupping and all tires needed replaced but that continental had no warranty (even though car came with a continental warranty paper). Replaced tires with yokohama at dealer.

Continental pro 245/40 r18 93v keep blowing out on me 5th tire in less then 2 years.

We were driving with continental tires (p265/70r17113s) on an arizona highway when our rear right tire separated.our vehicle immediately veered to the left and went up a guardrail with a 30' drop below.our vehicle (ford expedition) flipped 360 degrees, landing on its passenger side.the vehicle was well maintained.the tires had sufficient tread.the authorities on site took pictures of the tread separation and recommended reporting this as the tire appeared to be defective.

Contiprocontact 205/50 r17 93v / a37p 3pl 3510 has a sidewall bulge. Its mileage is 5,894.it was purchased to replace the same model tire because of a sidewall bulge. That tire had similar mileage. All tires were purchased from sts/mavis tire.

The contact owns a 2012 ford focus equipped with continental contiprocontact tires, size: 215/50/r17 (na). While parked, there was an explosive noise coming from the vehicle. The contact noticed that the front passenger side tire blew out and deflated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The tire manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was unknown. The tire failure mileage was 300.

I noticed that the side walls of my continental tires on my 2006 vw jetta were cracked(there were 25k miles on the tires). I reported this to continental -mr.carl walker. I replaced the tires with bridgestones. I still have the originals. I was told to take the tires to merchant's tire on woodfied road in gaithersburg, md and have them inspected and the tread depth measured. I did this immediately after speaking to mr. Walker. The sales rep. At merchant's called mr. Walkerafter inspection while i was present and told him that the sidewalls were indeed dangerously cracked on all 4 tires and that the tread depth was almostlike new. I was promised 60% compensation for the continental tires by continental's rep.carl walker ( claim # 244382) - phone #7045834819 -in october but havereceived nothing. These tires are unsafe and it is only luck that prevented a serious accident due to their failure. Vw says they have no jurisdiction over continental even though theysupply tires to thousands of vw vehicles.it seem that vw and continental want to ignore the problem for me and i assume all other owners of these tires.

I purchased four continental 185 65 r15 tires for 2008 toyota prius and had them installed at a nissan dealership on 10/24/2011with mileage 92526due to curb strikes, i incurred two road hazard sidewall claims within 2 days of install; one bulbous section and one flat. Installation of warranty replacements occurred 11/08/11 at mileage 93335.another curb strike sidewall warranty claim for third tire installed on 2/28/12 at mileage 98658. Fourth and final replacement of originally purchased tires yet to be processed/installed from curb strike road hazard on 4/9/12 at mileage 100289.prior to purchase of continental tires, no road hazard has occurred with the vehicle on two other brands of tires.i had to purchase an extra oem spare tire due to the length of the warranty process and the number of occurrences.the last and final time, since i had not yet replaced my oem spare again(it hadn't been six weeks since the last replacement) i purchased a less-expensive brand and model, as each local continental dealer is unable to order this model of tire from their distributor and has to call continental for replacement directly.the second oem spare was unfit for driving.

In the past three months since purchasing a 2013 ford fusion with 235/40 19 continental tires (contiprocontact) i have had 3 sidewall blowouts while traveling at less that 20 mph on paved roadways.this tire choice for this car might not be suitable since it has a relatively small (40) aspect ratio.

I have a 2013 ford escape with 26000 miles, oem tireare continental contitac pro 235/50/18 h.the tire have premature failure with chunks of rubber visibly detached from the tread base. I have contacted continental requesting an adjustment, their response was there is no mileage warranty on oem equipment. How do i persuade continental to adjust this set of tire. I have no choice but replace the set as they are not safe.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Continental conti pro contact tires with approx. 12,500 miles on them when the problem was discovered has a bubble on the sidewall. The bubble is within a quarter of an inch to the rim. Continental is turning a deaf ear to this matter. The first and only thing they are saying is it is from a pothole. These tires showed virtually very little wear. I stay on ytop of my vehicles care and always have the proper inflation. As well as high speed balancing done in order to prolong the life of them. My cars front tires are a different size than the rear tires, therefore they cannot be rotated. Hence the reason i stay on top of the proper inflation and balancing.this vehicle does not get driven in the snow. I avoid potholes like the plague.i have hit more pot holes with my other car and there are no bubbles on them which are pirelli tires. I am 61 years old and have owned a lot of vehicles and have never had a bubble on a tire! tires with much higher mileage on them. These tires did not need replacing because the tread wear was excellent. However, i no longer feel that the vehicle is safe with these tires.yesterday i replaced them with a competitors brand. I wrote to continental and included pictures, the response i received back was very lame.from what i have read there seems to be a growing list of complaints about continental tires. I hope that the problems people are experiencing are looked into before something awful could happen.

Runflat tires on bmw 328xi are not suited to american roads.hit a pothole on the highway with the runflat tires.wheel was damaged and tire was damaged as well.runflat tires seem less resilient than standard tires, and result in greater likelihood of wheel damage.tire did not go flat, but wheel and tire need replacement.

Have a one month old 2014 ford escape with 1,380 miles on it.while driving west on newly paved i-94 in st. Clair county, my tire pressure warning light came on.ten minutes later my rear passenger tire blew in four spots around the inside of the tire.the ford dealer told me i ran over something and dismissed it.i've had blowouts and flat tires before but nothing where the inside of the tire fails in four places. Updated 02/11/15

I had two blowouts in back to back weeks in april 2014 and thought it was bad luck.the tires were continental contipro and had less than 20k miles.i replaced 2 each time since the car is fwd.they came on my 2013 beetle tdi.at the end of august in rush hour traffic the tire warning light came on and within minutes the tire blew at 65mph.i made it to the side of the road.the outside of the tire blew completely off fussing about a 2" section to the rim.the inside had 2 major sidewall failures.i got home and googled continental contipro complaints and found hundreds of the same issues.i replaced the blown tire and parked the car.i ordered a set of michelins and had them installed this weekend.the continentals are in my basement until there is an admission or resolution that there is indeed a problem.i drive around 35k miles per year for the last 30 years and have never experienced multiple tire failures until these.continental's response so far is they were made to specifications.and vw's response was we didn't make the tire.

I have a new 2008 e350 mercedes with continental contipro contact 265/35 r 18.97v tires. At 6000 i noticed a bulge on the sidewall. I was told i hit a bump inthe road & it wasn't covered under warranty. Now at 7000 miles i noticed yesterday 2 more bulges on the sidewall of 2 additional tires. I was forced to buy a replacement tire at $300. Now i am trying to get compensation from continental or someone to rectify this problem. By the way, there is no damage to the wheels so this has got to be a defect from the tire company.

Continental conti procontact tire - left front 2006 jaguar sportwagon x type-failed on masspike. Aaa rep observed that tread separated .no road hazard. Replacement purchased and tire described as failure in "workmanship" 20k . Left front failure was identical to right fronttire failure 5 weeks b/4.thus 2failure s at 20k miles and 19k miles. Fortunately going slow or could have been real problem. Replaced 2 tires at almost 200 a piece. One tire in my possession.

The contact owns a 2014 mercedes benz e350 equipped with continental contiprocontact tires, size: 245/40r18. While driving at 20 mph over a pothole, the front driver side tire blew out. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the tire was replaced. The contact replaced the other three tires on separate occasions for the same failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The dot number was unknown. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 6,000 and the tire failure mileage was 5,000.

Dear sirs:on march 31st at aprox. 2pm i was heading to work in i-4 westbound when my car started to wobble.i was just past the off-ramp for the b-line, near sea world, but barely go to the side of the road before the construction zone narrowed the road.without any warning sign or light, the left side rear tire had completely separated from the rim and was flopping around and caught the bumper tearing it partially loose.through my insurance, geico, i was able to get a tow to universal nissan a couple of hours later.i called my husband and he met me by the car.we went with the tow to universal and left the key in the drop box.i had to miss work that day.the next day nissan called to tell us the car needed "body work" and we had to call geico to get another tow to universal autobody. We were very clear that the car had a warranty and we thought this repair should be covered. We had a geico representative inspect the car on 4-1 and he said it would be 3 days and $443 to fix it; the tires were not covered by geico and we did not meet our deductible.we spoke with universal several times to honor the warranties we are paying for.the papers were in the car and i assumed our records would be on file at universal nissan.he kept insisting that the tires and damage were not covered. We were using mymom's and another older car to get to work, so we didn't go back to universal autobody until the repairs were done, april 8th.we agreed only to replace the pair of back tires with a used rim, and a "wheelhouse liner" and mounting and balancing.they said they had nothing to do with the warranty.i had to pay for the car and go to work; the bill was$725.47 which we are now disputing.the tires: 215/60r15 are incorrectly billed. The warranty papers were inside the car:road hazard tire coverage (5 yrs)oil change & tire rotation plan, total loss protection addendum, royal protection plan, etc.we only had the car 9 months; i'm ready to return it.

I recently replacedall four tires on my passenger car (2004 bmw 325xi).after doing research on which to buy, we believed the rating in consumer's reports and purchased 4 continental pro contact tires (order was placed on 3/3/2009 and the tires were installed at tire rack on 3/6/2009). I had a service call on this car in february (2/10/2009) andthe recorded miles from the vob service department were 29,750.on the day of the incident (4/18/2009), the miles on this car were 30,906.therefore, the new tires had far less than 1000 miles on them.at about 8:15 pm on 4-18-2009, we had a tire blowout(right rear tire) going close to 70 mph on i-95 in maryland.the steel sidewall completely separated on this tire.my husband was driving and struggled to get the car over to the shoulder of the road. Although it was very dangerous (it was dark and lots of trucks and cars were speeding on the highway) we exited the car because we were concerned another vehicle might rear end it (even though the flashers were on).we called the policebecause we were having trouble giving the exact location ( we were not by a mile marker) to a towing service. The police did not come out.we eventually got a tow truck to change the tire.luckily my spare was full sized and in good shape. My rim and the tire itself do not look like there was a major road hazard.we believe the tire failed. After the blow out incident, my automatic braking system light is lit. We don't know if the abs system has been affected.although we could have been killed (this was very scary) no one was injured. We are trying to get a response from the tire installer (tire rack) and the tire manufacturer (continental).

Over the past 6 months 3 out of my 4 continental contiprocontac tires have developed "bubbles" in the side wall. When the 1st (or even perhaps the 2nd) tire developed this problem, it might have been attributed to pot holes. It is summer now and i have driven very little but the 3rd tire has presented this problem. I keep the tires properly inflated. All of my tires are routinely examined personally and by the tire company when replacing previous tires. Updated 4/24/2015

The contact owns a 2013 buick encore. The vehicle is equipped with continental conti pro contact tires, size 215/55r18 (na). The contact stated that the rear tires continuously flattened. An independent mechanic patched up the tires. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin and dot number were unavailable. The vehicle and tire failure mileages were 11,800.updated 8/22/14

My complaint doesn't involve one incident, rather a series of issues with the tires on my 2009 mercedes c300. I have had 11 flat tires over the course of 2 1/2 years, and i've had new tires fail repeatedly on 1st impact from not only potholes, but also very small uneven parts in the roads. I've had the inner walls of my tires fail repeatedly even without impact, and mercedes claims it is not a product issue.they have told me that there are two approved tire types for my car, the 17" continental low profile contiprocontact tires which i have and which mercedes service team continues to put on my car and a michelin model which i'm told costs about $20/tire more and which mercedes will not use as replacements. I believe this to be because of the higher cost associated with the michelin tires.i am extremely concerned, frustrated and dissatisfied with this driving experience, and to this point, the benzel busch mercedes dealership in englewood, nj, has not rectified the situation. It's gotten to the point where i'm back to the dealership every month or two, and 2 months ago, i had to go twice in one day. I don't feel safe driving the car, and nobody that i know who also drives on the same roads as me has anywhere near the level of incidents. Mercedes also checked the wheel alignment, rims and chassis, and they have told me it's not an issue with any of those either.any help would be much appreciated.

No events leading up to failure.bubble in sidewall.tire replaced.

My 2007 sensor detected low pressure. (please note: i took my car to beach ford 757--486-2717 last week and requested they change out all of the valves-------they changed out only the flat one and only put new caps on the others!!!!) my concern is they may have done this with other consumers. I drove from virginia beach to wash. Dc on sunday. On i95 averaging 65-80 mph. The inconvenience of spending yesterday at the dealership again is nothing in comparison to the impact of losing my life like the man in florida due to a faulty valve.to date: rear passenger went bad. Replaced by non dealer (paul's auto)front driver's tire last weekback driver's tire yesterday.(i watched yesterday to ensure they changed out the remaining one.

Continental conti pro tire failure.between 12,000 and 30,000 all 4 of our conti pro tires have failed.all they say is sorry we cant help.someone needs to get continental n/a attention and have them recall these tires before someone dies or is injured for life.we have tired several times to reason with continental to no avail, and even vw has tired, with no luck.please take a look at all your tires.

I bought a set of continental procontact tires 205/55/16 for a honda civic.on 12-12-13 and drove to harrisonburg va about 200 miles on 12-17-13.that night the tire pressure indicator lit up since it was late we waited until morning to check the tire at which time it was flat.embedded in the tire was a wire going from near the wheel along the sidewall toward the tread.it was about 5 inches in length and about 0.125 inches in diameter. Both ends were in the tire and there appeared to be a slice in the sidewall beneath the wire.went to walmart where the tire was examined, they pulled one end out but the other didn't budge. Had to go to another store for the replacement.they were also not able to pull the wire out.upon returning home i took the damaged tire to the store it was originally purchased from.they contacted continental and i received a full refund and the tire was returned to continental.upon examination it seemed that the wire was embedded in the tire during manufacture as evidenced by the "slice" in the sidewall from which the wire emerged while driving leading to air loss, the impossibility of pulling the wire from the wheel area and the absence of penetration of the wire on the wheel aspect..i do have photos of the wire and sidewall and tire interior showing the above.my strong feeling, and that of the original tire shop, was that the wire was molded into the tire during manufacture.the diameter of the wire was much greater than steel mesh wire.most likely the wire was forced to the surface as a consequence of tire compression during the drive.i almost feel that it was intentionally added to the mold because of the length and position as well as the diameter.

The contact owns a 2005 jaguar s type. The contact stated that in 2010, she purchased four continental conti pro contact tires as replacements, line 245/40/r18. The contact stated that the tires were constantly losing air pressure and she would have to put air in the tires consistently. The contact had been to the dealer six times in regards to the tire failure yet the dealer advised her that he could not assist and that she should not return again. The tire manufacturer was contacted and advised that she would have to return to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle manufacturer was then contacted but offered no assistance. The vin was unavailable. The current and failure mileage was unknown. Updated 03/24/11*ljupdated 05/02/11

2006 toyota matrix with alloy wheels and continental tires :at 5,000 mi rotation the steering wheel would move back and forth a bit, shimmy. At 10,000 mi rotation shimmy was worse and noise was noticed.
