We have blown to trailer tires in less that 3000 miles of use on a new trailer.i been checking the weights for the tires and feel they are not heavy enough for the trailer.forest river will not warranty them.they say it is the responsibility of carlisle (the tire mfg.).carlisle says the tires are too small and they do not control what forest rivers puts them on so they will not warranty them either.on 6/23, i talked with an engineer at forest river and he also agreed that the tires were too small for my trailer.he reviewed with the vp of engineering at forest river and called back to tell me that they are now putting a heavier tire on this model trailer.they still refuse to replace our tires with the heavier tire.david coleman has pictures of the blown tire and trailer weights.

I purchased a 2004 f37 sandpiper fifthwheel toy hauler with carlisle 235/85/16 load rating e tires.less than 2,000 miles on trailer and never over 350 mile trips.i have had two tires go flat in two separate 70 mile camping trips. I notified the dealer i purchased the trailer from about the incident and they forwarded the complaint to the manufature who stated the problem is not the weight of the trailer and did nothing about the flats (forest river). The last time i traveled, 10 miles from my house the 3rd tire exploded at 50 miles and hour and tore the side apart and wheel well of our trailer up within the 100 ydrs or so it took me to stop.the tire totally separated and the tread came off of the belts.i took the trailer to the weight station and weighed it to see if it was overloaded and it was not at the time.the tires had 80 psi for max weight capacity as printed on side wall.after dealing with forest river i took the trailer over a certified scale. The gvwr on the trailer is 13,700lbs and the gawr is 6,000 lbs per axel, i weighed the trailer at the axle and it weighed 10,700 lbs with 100 gallons of water. No 4 wheelers, no fluids in holding tank and about 7 gallons of gas in 15 gallon station, no food and no equipment. I was sold a toy hauler that is incapable of carrying the water (100 gal), fuel (15 gal) and two atv's as advertised without being over the gvwr.this does not include any clothing, food, equipment or waste in any tanks. What good is a toy hauler that is advertised to have these capacities but cannot carry anything in the tanks or you have to leave the toys at home.i have a garage at home.i purchased the trailer to haul a 735lb harley and one atv at about 1,300lbs in an email from forest river i should be able to carry more. I didn't disconnect the trailer from the truck to see the true gvwr but at 10,700 lbs at the axle,if i add my motorcycle and atv i am done!!! no equipment, no food, no clothing nothing!!

Hi, i have new tires on the new tow hauler,i left on monday july2, 2007 50 miles out of town i had atir eblow out. I get home and cleaning my trailer, i have 1 more tire that looks bad. It was like the rub is coming away from the steel. Very bad.

I have carlisle sure trail st tires, size st 205/75d15, on my 2003 big tex 60ch trailer.the right rear tire blewout for no apparent reason at freeway speeds and a light load on the trailer.upon further inspection of the tires that were installe on this trailer at time of purchase, i have replace all four tires, due to the one blowout, and very severe crowning in the center of the tread at the proper cold inflation pressure of 35psi, this crowning of the tread actually looks like an over-inflated tire, when in fact it is probebly a separation inside the tire.the dot numbers are as follows:uuul scb0103uuul scb0103uuul scb01038lul 0703the odd numbered tire is the tire that blew out and had printed in the bead area that it was manufactured in trinidad.by the time i could get the trailer off the freeway the blow-out was smoking.

1987 boat trailer road runner, road range c, while traveling at 65 mph the tire tread completely came off the tire. The tire blew at 2000 miles. The consumer purchased a replacement tire and that tire also blew out.

For our first long distant trip from nc to tx in our 2004 victory lane dutchmen 35srv 5th wheel camper, we checked all tires (carlisle lt235 85r16)and pressure before leaving.this was on 03/21/2005 when the first blowout occurred that ended up causing over $1800.00 in damage and we had less than 500 miles on all the tires.we had been traveling at about 60-65 mph on i-40. The tire completely separated and blew apart.had to pull over 3 lanes on i-40 to the shoulder and change the tire which was close to winston-salem at an exit ramp that had a bottle neck of traffic at rush hour. We changed the tire and had to look for another spare to buy.on the way back from tx to nc, we had another blowoutof carlisle tire #2 almost in the same location. We still had under 2000 miles on the tires. Had to look and pay for another spare tire.only made a couple more local trips after that to the nearest campground until 10/14/2005.we made a trip to myrtle beach about 155 miles away. We had traveled about 100 miles going about 50 mph when a blowout of carlisle tire #3.changed tire with spare and was looking to buy anther spare when another blowout of carlisle #4 happened about 30 minutes later.no spare this time.we were in the middle of nowhere and could not get off the road.there was no shoulder to move to.we got lucky and a man came buy on a tractor and helped us get to a place to get a tire.this cost us most of that vacation day just changing and looking for tires. And we still had under 3000 miles on the oldest tires that had a blowout.we have not been reimbursed for any costs associated with the tire problems and it has caused my insurance company to raise my premiums and cede my policy to the nc insurance facility.from what i have read on other forums, these tires are a very poor quality/defective and it is only a matter of time before there is a serious injury.

Tires blew out on 3 different occasions within 1 1/2 years of owning the trailer. Tires didn't just go flat, they exploded. Since having these emergency situations happen to me, 5 other personal friends with warrior trailers and identical tires, have had all their tires fail. All within 2 years of owning these trailers. As of todays date, none of our trailers are older than 2 years. Neither manufacturer, warrior trailers nor carlisle tires will warrant tires unless i have old ones to trade for. Unfortunately i did not know i needed to save an exploded tire for their warranty. I assumed my receipts for purchase of new tires would be enough. Warrior admitted to building 1,400 units per year. If 100% of the people i know, which is five, have had disastrous results from this tire and trailer combo, i personally believe their is a serious safety issue here. Thank you, sincerely dave young.

Our carlisle st225/75r15 tires were purchased with our tandem axle boat trailer in 2009. Since then, we have traveled an estimated 2500 miles on them.when in storage, we kept them covered from the sun.they appeared to be in good condition, showed little wear and certainly that didn't show anything out of the ordinary.the trailer was always towed at or less than 55 mph and less than the aggregate rated tire weight rating.last year, we experienced our first blow out.last saturday, after checking the tire pressure to ensure a pressure of 80 psi in all four tires and with far less than the rated weight a tire blew out after 15 minutes of freeway speeds of 55 mph.last sunday, after significantly reducing the trailer weight, another tire blew out after 15 minutes of 55 mph?two blowouts a day apart with the proper tire pressure weight and speed. Re: carlisle tire & wheel company. Tires on aspen travel trailer purchased october, 2005 on august 4, 2007 we were on a trip to west texas via i-20 when the 1st tire blew.mileage on this tire was 4,870. This blow out caused damages on the right side of our rv. The spare tire that had never been on the ground was put on.this tire blew after only 822 miles. I had purchased a tire to replace the spare and now placed it on the rv, and purchased another tire.the 3rd carlisle tire blew with a totalof 6,100 miles and did underbelly damage on the left side of rv.damages to our rv was $2,799.04 plus cost for replacement of all 5 carlisle tires.i was not going to drive another mile on a carlisle tire.fortunately, the first 2 blow outs happened in areas where there was enough room to pull off the roadway.the 3rd blow out took place on a stretch of i-20 without much of a shoulder.i was unable to pull the rv completely off the very busy interstate, making for a dangerous situation while changing the tire.i filed a claim with carlisle tire & wheel for 5 tires and damages to my rv.carlisle requested the tires to be shipped to them (at their expense) so they could examine them.these tires are in their possession at their aiken, south carolina plant.carlisle at first refused our claim.further correspondence and word that our insurance company had paid the damages to the rv, they now will reimburse the cost of tire replacement.after, talking to other rv'ers and searching the internet i have heard and found many complaints about carlisle tire failures.i am filing this complaint because i believe carlisle rv tires to be defective and dangerous to be on a travel trailer.

October 28, 2001, pulling trailer at 55 mph, 8:pm, left side front trailer tire comes apart and tread is is flung through the wheel well and into the insde of the trailer.this caused over $700 of damage to the trailer. April 5, 2001, approx 55-60mph, 7pm, left rear tire comes apart.the tread come off and wraps around the axel.on aprl7, 2002, (yes, less than 48 hours later)the right , front trailer tire starts to some apart.a driver "mouths" flat tire and we pull over just before the tread completely come off the sidewalls.the tires have between 4-5,000 on them, are 3 years oldand we check the tire pressure before every trip.we live in a mild climate and the tires aren't subject to extreme temperature changes.they are covered from to keep the sun off. There is no reasonwe should have had 3 tires come apart in6 months. (dot number: dbul h12tiresize: 205-75-15)

We purchased a 2003 thor jazz fifth wheel rv trailer in july of 2003.we received carlisle tires on it as original equipment.size st225/75r15.we had one blow out last summer (2004).we had 2 blow out on april 21, 2005.and we had one blow out yesterday, june 14th, 2005.upon taking the trailer to the body shop, they informed us that carlisle was recalling these particular tires and paying for damages.because of the blow out yesterday, the trailer is now damaged again!!as of this date, carlisle has not returned any of our emails, and when calling them we have been informed that the office is closed.

I was pulling my boat to the lake. Had checked tire pressure prior to leaving. I was about 70 miles from home when tire blew out . The tire is manufactured by carlisle tire. I had 3 other tires on my old boat trailer that were carlisle blow out.i was told by selling dealer that carlisle had cleaned up their act and there tires were safe. This tire is 14 months old and have around 2500 miles on them . I have several friends that have experienced the same problem but with the older design carlisle. The fact is carlisle tire is still an unsafe tire and putting hundreds of people in harms way, not to mention the cost of the damage done. This company needs to recall there unsafe products andbe held accountable for there product. I would be happy to provide you with 5 other people that have had the same problem. The one gentleman damage was so bad his trailer needed replaced and did $3500. Damage to his boat.another persons blowoutdid about $1800.00 dollar in damage to his trailer. These tiresare unsafe andgoing to eventually lead to a fatality if it hasn't all ready.8jb

I have carlisle radial st175/80r13 trailer tires on my 2002 starcraft travelstar trailer.over the weekend i had a tire blow out. Basically the tread pulled away from the tire.the side wall did not give out.this was the 4th tire i had blow out from the 4 original carlisle tires that came with the camper.last year 2 tires blewout.the trailer is only 3 years old.the trailer was only 1 year and 2 years old at the time of the previous blowouts. All four tires had the tread peel away. Tires were checked before each trip.air pressure was set to 50 psi cold temp.trailer weight was 350 to 550 lbs below gvwr.the first tire that blew was the back right tire and the next 3 have made there way around the trailer in a counter clockwise direction. This seems very unusual for tires to blowout like this.the temperature and speed being traveled were all different at the time of the blowouts.it seems to me that there is some type of defect with these tires.i have e-mailed carlisle but have not received a response from them.

Dt*:the contact stated over 30 areas of separation was noticed on all four tires.the manufacturer was alerted.

2 additional tires were near failure when blowout occurred.

I purchased a rv, 5th wheel, on 4/25/02. It came with carlisle st225/75r15 load range c tires. The dot manufacturingdatewas 4501.when returning home from a vacation on september 1st, 2005had a blowout on one of the tires. I have always maintained the recommend tire pressure (50#), and checked them often for defects. The inside wall separated from the tread, and the outside wall had a 10" hole and tread separation. The blown tire never rode on the ground it was supported and suspendedby the wheel in front of it. These tires have 7200 miles on them and the tread wear is not noticeable. The side wall construction looked good -- but was apparently less durable than the tread. These tires should have a side wall that would last at least as long as the tread. I believe this situation has caused many trailers to turnover.

I have a roadmaster tow dolly and one day, while just sitting there, i found a thick piece of the tread had separated, showing wires underneath.i figured the other tire may do the same thing since it was identical but my inspections revealed nothing'..the tire looked like new.unfortunately the other tire eventually gave away on the freeway while i had a car in tow.luckily at the time i wasn't surrounded by the heavy traffic that seemed to accompany me that day because all of a sudden the towed vehicle started dragging me across all the lanes, from one side of the highway to the other but the scariest part was when i was staring down at traffic under the over pass.after pulling over i discovered my thick fender had crushed inward at the rear'..totally swallowing my taillight and effectively acting as a brake.the tire was still inflated but the entire thick tread was missing'..just the wires were left.the tire must have separated and the fender acted like a peeler but crushed in at the same time.it all happened real fast.this event could have been very ugly.a canton police officer asked if i needed assistance but i said i'd just pull out the fender and put my spare on.

On a recent vacation to florida, i blew out one tire near gainesville, fl.a second tire blew in ocala, fl. These are the original tires that came on my 2002 aerostar travel trailer, made by thor. These tires had less than 5000 miles on them. (carlisle radial st st215/75r14).one of the other two remaining tires had bubbles on it, so it was replaced as well. These tires are well maintained, covered when not traveling, air checked constantly, and never overloaded.after returning home i contacted carlisle tires who informed me that these tires were over two years old and they couldn't do any thing for me.they said this tire was made by good year and i could contact them and see if they would do anything. I called goodyear and was told they would pay for any damage to my trailer the tire had done, if i had kept the old tire.they said they would even pick up the old tire at the dealer where i had left it. No one ever mentioned this when i was buying replacement tires. I called the dealer but they had already disposed of the old tires.i was on vacation for two and a half months in florida so the old tires were gone. I still have one of the tires left.because i don''t trust them, this tire will never be used on the road.i have this tire in my garage if goodyear would like it back. Also, i have one tire under the trailer used for a spare. I have already had my trailer fixed with an insurance claim, but had to pay a 100 dollar deductible. I don''t understand why goodyear would pay for damages but not pay for replacing these tires. I hope these marathon tires are better than i had, but they still worry me since goodyear made both tire brands. I believe carlisle tires or goodyear tires owe me the money for the 4 tires i replaced, and my deductible. Plus they should replace the spare. Here is some more info that was on the one remaining tire i kept. (111229 dot dbhbh12cr9592-1drcd75-a-ees) any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

He called carson rv sales they told him they had over 7 of these tires blow in the last month an half on different trailers. The manufacturer said they no longer purchase anymore of these tires. The model number for the tires was unavailble.

On july 6,2004 approximatey 20 miles from green river, utah my right rear trailer tire blew out. On july 8, 2004 approximately 30 miles from mc dermitt, oregon my left rear trailer tire blew out.

Trailer was manufactured withsoft copper propane lines inside the wheel weld.vehicle suffered a blow out, which blew out the refrigerator, heat and water heater.consumer stated that dealer told him it could have caused an explosion.the tire blewout when the cap came off of the wheel. *scthe tire blew out because it could not handle the weight of the rv.

Travel trailer tires blew out on highway.

Tires on trailer blew out at 2,000 miles and at 3,000 miles.*mrthe left front tire had blown and was completely shredded.a portion of the tire was wrapped around the axle and the consumer was forced to place a cooper tire on the rv.a thousand miles later, the right rear tire had blown.the dealer replaced both of these at no cost other than the mounting and the valve stems which were shredded.upon returning home, the consumer discoveredthe right front tire had a sidewall bulge.(upon the removal from the trailer, tread separation at three separate points were verified by two local independent tire dealers)the right rear tire had blown again with significant damage to the trailer.(model- 2000 salem light 28 qbs)*scc

Its just told by uhaul that driving over 1500 miles on two different tires with twodifferent treads was safe for me and my family. We drove through a storm. She offered me a $65 refund. I purchased a uhaul in ny and drove over 1500 miles with a dolly that had two different tire treads to be told by a marketing president that the tires were okay to drive on. Any sane person knows that driving on using alternative tires from different tire categories, with alternate sizes or different speed ratings can unbalance the vehicles handling in poor weather or when pushed to the limit in an emergency. One of my complaints were the fact that my car was my car pulling to one side not the rust. Because tires play such an important role in every vehicles comfort qualities and handling capabilities, it is always best to drive on tires that are identical in every detail, including tire brand, model, size, and remaining tread depth. Anything else involves some type of compromise. Thats just common sense. Its a safety issue!!!

All four tires experienced tread separation and blew out while driving at 60/65 mph.prior to the failure, the owner had the tires checked, including the tire pressure.(forest river travel trailer,2000)

Purchase a new '04 sandpiper 5th wheel in aug '03. Made two local trips that put approximately 1500 miles on the tires/unit. Keep all the wheels covered while in storage. Checked for proper inflation prior to leaving on a trip from s. Ca that would go through tetons, yellowstone, rushmore, then back down through colorado and 4 corners. The first tire blew out west of sturgis. Less than 3000 miles on the tires. The tire blew with such force that i sustained extensive damage to the rig. Inspected remaining tires and placed spare on rig. Just n. Of ft collins, co the second tire blew. Had just inspected and checked for proper tire inflation less than 100 miles before the tire blew. It appeared that the tread simply peeled away from the tire. Carlisle replaced all tires after i expressed concerns in regards to personal injury or death liabilities. Estimated repairs to rig are approximately $1900. Carlisle required we ship the tires to them. However, i have photos of tires and damage available on request. Copies of same where emailed to carlisle tires. These were load range e radial trailsize lt235/85r16, which were made in china. *la

The consumer believes that the wheels/tires are overloaded, the consumer has replaced 11 tires and the wheels have been replaced 4 times, the tire failures have either been tire separation or have been totally shredded, the wheels crack in the rim weld which allows air to leak through the metal rim (the axles are al-ko h-5 5000 lb axles - goodyear, general, towmaster, carlisle).nlm

A tire blew out from bead to bead. After looking at all the tires, found that the tires were wearing out on the outside edge. I have always used the max air pressure which is 50 psi. The tires are carlisle 205-75-15 radial trail crt load range c. Gvw is 7780. The tires carry 1820 lbs each at 50 psi. The tires combined carry 7280 lbs. This is less than the 7780 lbs and someof it is due to tongue weight i guess. My trailer was not over loaded. I carried a full water tank of 38 gallons and food. Seems to me it should have come with 225-75-15 load range d. I have replaced the tires with these new tires. What a difference on how the trailer runs now. It does not bounce up and down like it use to. I feel they should sell a new trailer with the proper size and load range. I had no damage and thank god we were not hurt. I would have gladly paid 500.00 more for proper tires. I feel this is a manufacturer defect and i am contacting you because they will not return my phone calls. The dealer best rv and forest river have ignored three calls each. After the blow out i checked all the tires again for 50 psi and they were okay. The trailer is a 2007 rockwood signature ultra light 8318 ss. We love the trailer and have had no issues except for this. Thank you jeff csillag.

My keystone raptor 3814 had 2 blow outs that cause alot of damage.i made sure that the tires were properly inflated and that i wasn't over weight and i still had blow outs.the carlie 15" d rated tires that came on my raptor are too small.they only will hold #2550 per tire times 6 tires is less than my raptors to gvwr of #16000!!!! i have since fixed my raptor and changed all of my tires to 16" e rated tires ad wheels and have had no problems. Now, i talked to keystone's area rep and was told nothing was wrong.now keystone offers 16" e rated tires and 8 lug axles.why, andy boussard of keystone told me people have asked to be able to get this so they added it to the options.i don't believe that because every time that i pull into a rv site, everyone with a raptor comes over and tells me about their blow outs and asks me where to get the 16" rims. I think keystone should provide all of us new 8 lug axles and 16" rims and tires for free.5 of my e rated tires can carry more then all 6 of the d rated tires that came on the trailer.lastly,i have spoken to robin with carlise because my rv dealer said that the tires where bad and carlise should pay for the repairs from my blow outs.robin has declined my rv dealers request and she sent me to this web site for help.she told me that keystone put on too small of tires from the beginning.i just need to pay my rv dealer, get reimbursed for my 16" tires, and have a safe nice looking raptor, like i bought! please help this go somewhere.thank you.

About 6 months ago the back right tire had tread separation, and about 6 days ago, back left tire blewout.later, both front tires blewout.

Two relative new carlisle st tires failed back to back.the first one, at a speed of 60 mph, temperature near 92, trailer very lightly loaded, no water in any tanks. The tire totally disintegrated before a reasonable stopping distance was reached. I was some what luckier on the second tire. I started feeling vibrations and stopped. The belt was separating and protruding throuth the tread, however, the tire still held air.

Tires not safe on highway.the trailer's wheels and tires were defective (forest river 5th wheel trailer).

Carlisle tire 225/75/r15 d - i purchased the tires 05/09 and had 2,000 miles on them prior to leaving for vacation on 06/11/10.i checked the tire pressure on 06/10/10and inflated to 65psi.approximately 150 miles into my trip the left front tire exploded and i immediately pulled off to the burm on the left side of the interstate. The tire tore off my fender, dented the side of the camper, and ripped the floor covering and insulation out.i replaced the wheel with my spare and inspected my tires and proceeded to continue on my trip. I traveled approximately 150 to 200 additional miles then the right front tire went flat.the tread came loose from the sidewalls.the tire damaged the right fender, floor covering, and insulation.

Consumer states that the vehicle had three separate tire blowouts within 10,000 miles apart.tire size 225/75r15, dot#unavailable (please provide).feel free to provide any further information.*mr

Traveling down freeway at 65 mph trailer not loaded fully right rear tire blew and tread caused around 1600 in damage carlisle lt235/85/16 load range e 80 psi after repairs on way home from repair shop left rear tire almost blew ouy tread separation and bubbled sidewall got lucky.

Driving at 65 mph and had tire failure. All tires checked just hours before for correct pressure and no abnormalities seen on tires. Tire manufacturer carlisle. Have found that there has been hundreds of complaints about carlisle tires sidewall and tread failures. Why has there not been a recall notice on carlisle tires? mainly the tires used on rv's made by carlisle... My girlfriend and i were almost in a wreck because of these faulty carlisle tires.

2005 thor tahoe travel trailer -two tire blowouts due undersized tires. One tire 11/17/05, passenger side rear. Second tire 11/06/06 drivers side rear, tire tread seperated, hit car behind trailer and came through trailer floor. When tire was repairedat a non dealer facility they noticed the tires were load rating d and should be a minimum of e rating.

Failure type = failed tires less than 1 year old, properly maintainedfirst occurance happened while returning from a camping trip in arizona.while traveling at 65 mph during a down hill stretch of crowded weekend traffic our 2000 coleman santfe popup tent trailer's passenger side tire blew. It nearly caused a traffic accident as we pulled off the road with the trailer swinging back and forth.as the tread from the carslile b78-13st st175-80-d13 load range c tire rotated around on the blown tire it did approx. $1000 of damage to the trailer.carslile replaced the tire and rembursed our insurance angency for the damage to the trailer.the second incident occured on sept 10th while going camping in arizona.this time the replacement tire lost 1/4 of its tread.the driver noticed a vibration and subsequently part of the tread flying off the tire and was able to pull over before any serious damage was done. This tire was less that one year old.in addition both tires were maintained properly (50 psi).

Experienced explosive blowout of tire on 2005 thor jazz 5th wheel trailer.tire had approximately 1000 miles.tire dealer stated no visible cause of blowout.blowout caused damage to wheel well of trailer.trailer was traveling within stated speed limits, weight of trailer was within specs and tires were operating at the proper pressure.tire replace with different brand.

Belt separated with lightly loaded trailer, 2nd in less than 8,000 miles.dt

Leaving from home on june 29, 2005 for camping 4 hours away.our dutchmen 5th wheel is 2 years old and we have camped in it around our area 5 times since we purchased it. We were travling down i-40 when we heard a loud bang, didn't think it was us since our tires were new.i looked in the side mirror and saw insulation and knew a tire had exploded.we pulled over, my husband put on the spare, got back on the road.about 30 minutes later a second tire exploded.we made it to an exit and a super center wal-mart.the other tires at that point had developed an orange tint to them.after the mechanic inspected them, we were advised not to travel any further on the remaining tires.at that point we had 4 brand new tires put on.there has been damage done underneath our camper.our camper dealer has faxed an estimate of damages to carlisle tire & wheel.we also saved the tires and ups picked them up and delivered them back to carlisle tire & wheel.i have filed a complaint with the tire company and sent them all the documentation.now i'm waiting on a response and was not given a time frame as to when that will be.

The right tire blew out, the other two tires had tread separation and the fourth tire had a largebubble.

On our 2nd trip with our 24ft rockwood 5th with only 500 miles on it the right front tire blew out, size st205/75r14 i had checked tries before leaving saw nothing wrong, contacted mike at forest river he said he has never heard of any problems with the carlisle tires. My 5th wheel trailer gvw is 1,100 over the max tire load and he said (mike) that the 1,100 is the hitch weight, i told him that there are times when towing that you lose hitch weight and then all the weight is on the tires. I asked for my tires to be upgraded to load range d or e he said no. We don't feel safe on these tires. Something need to be done.

Dt:the consumer states he is having issues with tires blowing out . The first time was three years ago and just recently the consumer had another two tires blowout. The first two tires were load range c by carlisle tires. The second two tires were load range d tires by carlisle. Consumer stated that he was having complete blowouts on these tires. The consumer has talked to the manufacturer who told him that he was storing the tires improperly. The manufacturer told the owner to jack up the trailer and rotate the tires once a month.consumer has also talked to the dealership and was informed that there were not any good trailer tires these days. The speeds were between 60-65. The tires blew while pulling the trailer. Discount tires wanted to put mount load range e on the same rims. According to the carlisle representative the load range e tires should not be mounted on 15 inch rims that are five lugged. The owner told this to the discount tires company and they said that they had never heard of that before, but they did go ahead and order the tires that the consumer wanted. Discount tire has been very helpful to the consumer concerning his tire issue. Carlisle has not been helpful to the consumer and has a poor quality of tire. The consumer has bought a different brand of tire and changed to aply, non radial tire. The location was on the right rear, second one was the left front, third was right front and the fourth tire was the left front. The tire line is st 225/75r15 c, the second line is st 225/ d. The is not any information on the mailing address on the vehicle dealership or phone number.

Carlisle trailer tire had separated from its core and the other is warped making driving on safe. 205-75/14 dot 9qkcfc (0905).

First tire developed a bubble at 2000 miles, second tire had complete tread was a new spare that separation that wrapped around the axle at 500 miles.dt

Regarding tire t23585r16, on may 23, 2007 while traveling 35 mphi experienced a blowout on the passenger's front tire of the2004 30 ragen toy hauler.the blown out tire tread remained on the tire but flapping on the side of the trailer, causing black rubber to be thrown all over the trailer door and side panels.the tire was pulled and replaced with the spare carlisle tire of the same size.on june 23,2007 while traveling south bound on highway 101 just ut of pasa robles, ca at 55 mphthe back tire on the passenger's sideblew out.i changed that tire with an odd ball spare that i had to replace because i put the spare carlisle on the first blowout tire.the tread stayed on the tire, flapping once again against the underside of the trailer, no damage noted, just black rubberon the trailer. Once again, exactly one week later on june 30,2007 while traveling onroute i5 at stockton, ca back from our trip to the coast another blowout on the front passenger side occurred, the original carlisle spare tire blew out at55 mph.this blowout caused damage to the side of the trailer between the wheel well and the trailer window, andresulted indoor toslightly pull away from being even.the trailer had impact dents that will be very costly tobe repaired.

While driving, the front passenger tire experienced a blowout and two days later the rear passenger tire experienced a blow out and caused major damage to the camper. (2000 forest river cedar creek) *nlm

This letter below is the letter i sent to carlisle tire comp, and their response to me was they need to see the actual tire to determine if it was a tire failure. The tires looked like a retread the way they came apart and sent them the pictures.i bought a fuzion 302 touring edition toy hauler in october 2008 (the tires had 2008 on them).i have been using it to camp within 10 miles of my home.i decided to take a trip to arkansas in may 2010.on the way home i had 2 blow outs at the same time.in september of 2010, i was going to a lake 2 hours from me, i had another blow out.i would like an answer as to why tires that have less than 1200 miles, less than two years old can blow out so bad that is causes an estimated of 1258.00 of damage to my fuzion.the service manager told me that the tires from carlisle were bad, he said a recall had been done, but i was never notified of a recall.i have had to buy 6 total new tires, 2 with the first blow out in may, than i replaced 4 in sep. Because jim's tire convinced me in to putting all 4 tires of the same make back on the trailer since i was only half way to my destination. I was unable to save these failed tires because i had no place for storing them, but i did take pictures of them.

While driving 35 mph rear passenger side tire blew out. No impact reported.

The contact owns a 2008 hart cargo trailer. The trailer is equipped with carlisle high run (na) tires, size 235/80/16 (na). While the trailer was being pulled at approximately 45 mph, the contact heard a loud banging noise and discovered that the rear passenger side tire exploded. The tire was temporarily replaced with a spare tire until the dealer installed a new tire. The failure occurred with the other three tires on the vehicle, which were replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The vin and dot number were unavailable. The failure mileage was not applicable.

The tires on 2004 tahoe fifth wheel made contact with the frame structure.on the first trip, we smelled burning rubber and discovered the decking was 2 inches lower on the right side of the 5th wheel.took rv to dealer who called thor california.we have contacted a jerry pallarus and sent digital pictures to thor.they have said an engineer must be consulted and will be in contact with us when the engineer returns from vacation.we have parked our rv in storage and will not haul it due to safety concerns and possible liability.we purchased the tahoe 27wtb fw on april 28, 2004.*mr e problem was caused by the compressed gussets under the frame of the deck.*sc

We purchased a rockwood roo in feb 2004.it had carlisle tires on it.last year we travelled about 5000 miles.first time out this year in one trip, we had 3 blowouts.we purchased two tires on the first session, where we blew 2 tires and was left with no spare.the first tire store happened to only sell carlisle tires.the second round was in another state and we purchased another brand.after getting home, we find the carlisle will not honor a warranty since we could not bring home the three blown tires.(limited space while camping to keep trashed tires).we have researched camping forums and find out the carlisle tires are destined to blow in as little as 6 months from manufacture date.now we feel we have to throw away 3 brand new tires (spare and two we purchased) before we can dare head on another trip.we seem to have no recourse and somehow this seems so dangerous and unfair.there was also damage to the trailer, they completely ignored the pictures of the damage.

Dt:the consumer had a problem with the travel trailer.while using the trailer, a failure on the right front tire occurred.the front tire was rubbing against the rear tire which caused the tire to blow out, and the tread to separate.he replaced the tire with a spare tire until he could reach a tire dealer.the tire dealer advised him that the other tires were about to do the same thing. When the consumer contacted the tire manufacturer, they said that there was no warranty on the tires and there was nothing they could do. The consumer had another safety concern with the trailer in which while replacing the tires, he found a soft copper tubing that had gone through the wheel well.this tubing connected the gas line to the water heater.there was no shield or covering for this tubing.the consumer had not contacted the service dealer or the manufacturer to inform them of this concern.(11/29/05)the consumer was also concerned with the fact that when the trailer was being towed, the lp gas had turned on.the consumer felt that this was extremely hazardous.*sc

On april 24, 2003 we were pulling our rockwood travel trailer from atlanta to south georgia.after about 100 miles, the left front trailer tire blew out (sidewall blowout and subsequent delamination).i changed the tire, obtained a new spare and went on.on april 27, 2003 about 150 miles after the first blow out, the left rear tire blew out (same failure as before).again, changed the tire, bought two new tires.about 70 miles further down the road, the right rear tire blew out (again, same failure mode).the last two failures caused significant damage to the trailer structure.all tires were original equipment with the trailer when purchased in march 2000.they had approximately 6000 to 8000 miles on them (maybe less).kept them covered.religously checked the air pressure (50 psi), kept the speed no more than 60 mph and verified that the trailer was not overloaded.the tires were carlisle st175/80r13.carlisle informed me that these were made by goodyear.goodyear informs me they were made by dunlop which was bought by goodyear.of course carlisle and goodyear state that they will not help with the expenses since the tires were out of warranty and i did not know to keep the failed tires.

Vehicle: 30' weekend warrior travel trailer. Tires: carlisle radial st 225/75r15. Trailer loaded weight: 10,000lbs. 7,500 miles on tires & trailer. Tire pressure @ 75psi and checked daily. Blow out occurred @ 9:30 am with aprox. 60 miles on them this morning. While driving on freeway @ 50 mph one of six (triple axle trailer) tires blew out. I felt a thud, looked in my mirror and saw the tire tread and trailer wheel well flare flying through the air, cars were swerving all over to miss the debris. I immediately pulled to the side of the road. Aaa arrived and helped install the spare tire, then led me to the closest tire shop. (approximately one mile). On examination another tire had the belts completely separated and ready to blow. Yet another tire had a sidewall bubble the size of 2 softballs. The tire shop immediately removed the valve stem to keep it from blowing. The three tires were replaced. The damage was minimal compared to what could have happened? the trailer wheel well flare was lost. Scratches up the side of the trailer and one wheel center cap damaged.

I had 2 tire separations or blow outs on the carlisle tires on my travel trailer.in my towing mirror i noticed small chunks of tire coming off, then immediately the tire blew out.there was absolutely no warning when the 2nd tire blew out.tires were less than 2 years old with less than 2,000 miles on them, properly inflated, showed no signs of dry rot, wear or apparent defects.travel trailer sustained damage from 2nd blow out.*la

Carlisle tires on travel trailer, had 1 tire blow out while traveling, less than 1000 miles on them. Seems like something should be done about this before somebody gets killed. Damage to new trailer and costs out of my pocket for junk tires.

On three occasions, carlisle tires properly maintained and inflated to their published specifications blew out causing extensive damage to a fifth wheel trailer.vehicle was being operated at 60 mph when the failure occurred.tires were returned to carlisle for inspection and they stated they were damaged by improper inflation, and impact damage.

The contact owns a 2005 forest river travel trailer.while driving 60 mph, the contact heard a loud noise and the vehicle began to swerve.the vehicle was pulled over and the contact noticed that the passenger side middle tire had blown out.the tire was replaced with a spare.the tire damaged the turn signal.thirty miles later, the rear driver side tire blew out.the remaining tires were inspected and it was found that the tread on all the tires was beginning to separate.the repair shop replaced all six carlisle tires.the tire failure mileage was approximately 1,500.no other vehicle information was provided.

Contacted carlilse tire on 8/11/04 opened claim on tires delaminating. On 9/5/04 two tires did blowout causing major damage to my rv. 10/5/04 received five new tires from carlilse tire. I do not want these tires on my rv and i seem to be stuck with them. Its going to cost over one thosand dollars to replace these tires with another brand.

Returning home to slidell, la from little rock arkansas due to hurricane katrina evacuation when left rear tire on a 2001 sport trail tandem axle boat trailer failed.speed 55 mph, tire (carlisle usa trail st205/75d14, dot uukc acc3001) had a blow out just before louisiana state line.boat trailer has a 2001 sea ox 223f boat- dry, no rigging or extra weight.boat and trailer purchased brand new in february of 2003.all tires appear in great shape, regular pressure checks.blown tire has 8mm (1/4") + of tread depth.upon searching for a same replacement to keep a match and gearing for this hurricane season, i was quite surprised at the number of carlisle tire failures. It is evident a time period carlisle produced faulty tires.i am not comfortable replacing that tire with the same and now paranoid to tow the trailer again having three other carlisle tires to contend with.please review the occurrences of carlisle tire failures, ensure they are credible and initiate a recall.

No single thing seems to have contributed to the failure. 6 of the 7 tires blew in the same place. The other was ready to blow with seperated bands. As these were radials, i went back to bias ply tires so 7 tires were bought to replace the radials. These are carlisle trailer tires.

The contact owns a 2005 alfa seeya.the vehicle has carlisle radial trail tires 235/85r16.while driving 65 mph, the contact heard a pop sound and noticed a blow out on the passenger side front tire.the dealer stated that there was cord separation.approximately two months later, the failure recurred on the rear passenger side tire, which disabled the brakes and tail lights.as of july 30, 2007, the tire has not been inspected.the vehicle is a trailer, therefore, the engine size, number of cylinders, fuel system, fuel type, and transmission type do not apply.the tire dot number was unknown.the current mileage was 4,500 and failure mileage was 4,000.

Re: claim #26875for blowout of 4 tires and trailer damage due to blowout of 4 tires (tire size st205 75 r14 load range c) installed by oem.forest river 25' shamrock rv trailer was purchased new in spring of 2003. Total mileage on tires is about 4,000 miles. In july of 2004 during a family vacation from connecticut to michigan and back we had 3 carlisle tires blowout (heard blowouts and inspection of blown tires appeared to reveal ply separation). Before leaving on trip tire pressure was checkedto be at 50 psi per tire side wall rating. First blowout occurred about 7:00 p.m. Only about 50 miles into trip. Blown tire was saved and trip was continued. Second carlisle tire blew (again heard blowout)after about 800 total trip miles west of detroit (about 200 miles on that day) and 2 replacement tires were purchased (replace tire that just blew and also to replace spare from 1st day). Second blown tire was also saved initially and both damaged tires were brought to bering springs, mi vacation area. No carlisle tire dealers were found in area to return damaged tires to for inspection/replacement and trailer/tow vehicle did not have room to store 2 damaged tires for remainder of trip. Tire pressure was again checked and found to be 50 psi. Trailer was weighed on commercial scale with a total trailer tire weight of about 5,700 lbs well under rating for the 4 trailer tires of 6,680 lbs (1,670 lbs per tire by 4 tires on trailer).2 damaged tires were then discarded. On return trip from michigan third carlisle tire blew at 10:00 p.m. In canada just west of niagra falls. 3rd replacement tire purchased in upper new york state and 3rd replacement tire was discarded. Fourth carlisle tire blew labor day 2004 weekend trip to rhode island. This tire is being returned to carlisle for inspection. Purchased a 2010 keystone big sky trailer from jmatt rv in oklahoma. Left kalispell mt for a trip to az and while driving eastbound on i-10 we had an "explosive" blowout at mile marker 52 while going about 56 mph. The blowout caused damage to the trailer and nearly caused it to turn over. We had the tire changed and continued to casa grande,az where the second tire blew out. Upon removal of the first tire we saw where the steel tire bead had separated from the tire and rim and the second tire had a large bubble in the sidewall and was separating from the wheel at the bead as well.

I have had poor performance and longevity of tires on my 30 foot long 2011 sunnybrook travel trailer. Brands i have used are maxxis and carlisle, size st225/75r15 radial tires. At about 4 years old the maxxis tires developed cracks between the tread ribs on a trip in march.i put on an unused carlisle spare and had a huge blowout in the tread on i-91 in vermont. In looking at websites and trailer life magazine, there are many complaints about trailer tires having blowouts, even when travelling at usually 60 mph i do, and with proper pressure. The concord, nh tire warehouse has a goodyear trailer tire in the office that also has a tread blow out. It appears most trailer tires are coming from china and are usually speed rated for up to 65 mph. The replacement tires i just ordered from etrailer.com are a provider premium tire speed rated for up to 81mph.they are also from china, and i'm hoping they really are "premium" durability. The rough road bumps and pot holes, even on interstate highways, really pound on tires and i see many rv trailers passing me on the highways.shouldn't on-road trailer tires be held to similar design standards as driven vehicle tires? a high speed blowout failure often damages the rvs and can result in nasty accidents if driver control is lost. The rv community, manufacturers, and other highway users will appreciate increased safety standards, or at least meeting safe minimums.

All four tires experienced tread separation and blew out while driving at 60/65 mph.prior to the failure, the owner had the tires checked, including the tire pressure.(forest river travel trailer,2000)

I had two carlisle tires blow out in the last 6 months.the tires were installed along with 2 others on my 2004 coachmen chaparel by a tire dealer in november, 1907.the trailer manufacturer specified st 225/75r15, load rating d tires, but the tires i purchased are st 225/75r15 load rating e.the first tire blew last fall on a two-lane state highway causing significant damage to the trailer.there was nothing left of the tire but the sidewalls.the second tire blew this january, 2011 on interstate highway 10, causing some damage to the trim at the tire well.the tire was intact with a large hole in the sidewall.the repairman said the tire was faulty and the blow out was not caused by a road hazard.in both of these cases the tire pressure was checked before the trip and had 80 psi which is recommended for 2830 lb load at 65 mph.iwas driving 55-60 mph in both cases.i pulled this trailer to alaska in 2004 (around 12,000 miles) and to nova scotia in 2007 (around 5,000 miles) and never had a problem with american made tires.trailer tires made in china and taiwan are the only ones available, these are a hazard to the travelling public, including those sharing the highway and those in the towing vehicles.

Had all 4 old trailer tires replaced with carlisle tires. After just 5000 miles i had one blow out, had it replaced. Another 500 miles noticed a bulge on another of the carlisle tires and had it replaced and left for a 200 mile trip afterwards and lost the 3rd carlisle tire to another blow out. Have to get it replaced.

Blew carlisle 225x75x15 load range "d" tire and damaged my trailer. I paid for a replacement tire, and did not seek a replacement from carlisle because the tire was completely destroyed. While at the trailer dealer getting a bid on repairs i found another tire with a separation. I sent this back to carlisle and they sent me a new one. While at a tire dealer having a different brand put on we found another tire with a seperation. I sent this one back and am waiting a new replacement. That is 3 of 4 that were on the ground that separated. There are a lot of people that are having problems with this brand and no other. I think someone needs to look atthepercentage of failures to see if they are in line with industry averages. Thanks. Frank blum .

In february of 1999 i purchased a cobalt 226 and an eagle trailer. This eagle trailer was made specifically for my boat,it has carlisle st205/75r14 tires.. Since i live in pa, my boating year is 3-4 months long and by boat is stored indoors during the winter.my average mileage each year is approx. 1000 miles.in may, 2002. I blew out the first tire.i did not know why and the tire was a total loss, so we just bought a new carlisle tire to replace it.in july the second blew out followed by another in august 2002.within the last two blow outs, my fiber glass fenders were destroyed along with the break ine and all of the wires were ripped out of the trailer.we again purchased new carlisle tires .there was nothing left of the tires to take to the dealer.the cost to replace my fenders was $783 plus my labor to take the old ones off, repair the brake line and rewire the lights.finally on aug 29,2004, i am about to take my boat to the lakeand my wife, while winding the trailer up to hook it up to the truck, noticed that the spare tire looked crooked.i check it out and found that the ample tread was separated in numerous places.there was only one other original tire on the boat and when i looked at it it was in the same condition.this time i had evidence to take to the carlisle dealership.they sent the tires to carlisle and called me and told me that carlisle said that they would reimburse me for the 2 new ones.i do not have a check as of this date.when i check the nhtsa website, i found that there are numerous complaints about this same tire starting back in 2001 with stories much the same as mine.carlisle must be held responsible for a poorly manufactured tire.

We were coming home from a camping trip when one of the tires of our travel trailer literally exploded, causing about $2000.00 worth of damage.the tires were checked (for pressure and visually) before the trip. The tire were made from carlisle tire co. And were less than 2 years old. The tire in question was a radial trail st 205/75r 15.talking to the claims adjuster, a lot of the claims she files are the cause of carlisle tires exploding.our trailer is scheduled to be repaired, but i am very worried that the other tires are going to do the same thing.

The 1st tire failed (exploded) in august 7, 2000, the 2nd tire 7/20/01 & the 3rd was on 7/21/01.these tires were on our boat trailer when we bought it in march, 2000.the previous owners purchased the boat/trailer package new in the summer of 1999 and these were the original tires.all 3 of them had less than 2,000 miles on them at the time they failed.in all 3 instances the side of the tire "exploded" and you could see the belt (very frayed) sticking out of the large hole. Fortunately this is a double axel trailer and was controlable at the time of the blow out.if it had been a single axel trailer, i probably wouldn't be here to report this.i feel that these tires pose a safety hazard and would like this matter to be investigated.please feel free to contact me for any further information. This is a complaint due to a recent letter i received from carlisle transportation products inc. Regarding a recall on defective wheels on my trailer (safety recall# 13e-059) which i contacted carlisle inc. On march 12th, 2014 to start my claim. On march 31st, 2014 i finally received confirmation that a warranty order had been placed (#20436381) and the wheels would be shipped out and replaced at no cost to myself. After several e-mails to carlisle inc. And last correspondence was on april 18th, 2014 i still don't know if these wheels are ever going to be replaced as stated by carlisle inc. We took our vacation this year and went to canada.when i set up our camper, i noticed we had a tire with a bulge in the side wall.we did find a dealer in canada that handede these tires and got it replaced.the dealer told us that carlslile had lots of problems with the tires we had on our camper. So they replaced the bad one, for a charge. While we were on the way home we had a different tire seperate blow out causing over $1500.00 in damage to our camper, and almost put us in the ditch all togather.when we called in for our road hazard policy, they suggested we remove all the carlisle tires due to many issues similar as ours.i contacted carlisle tire to see if they would do something for us, and i was told they only offer a 2 year warrantee on their tires from the date of manufacture, and could not help me.the problem i have with this is that when we purchased our brand new campr in july 2001 the tires were already 20 months old.this means that they are knowingly putting unsafe tires on rv trailers that they dont have to deal with.i feel this is wrong to allow this and feel there should be a recall on all of the 225x75x15 tires, and they should be held responsible for any and all damages, not our insurance company and myself.

We suffered three sidewall blowouts on our fifth-wheel travel trailer in one trip. The trailer was weight with only clothes for a four-day trip and 50 gallons of freshwater. The weather was in the 80's and we were traveling on the proper tire pressure at only 55 mph and had been on the road for only 2 hours when the right rear trailer tire blew w/o warning.

On 07/18/03 i was notified by a passing motorist of a flat tire on the right rear axle of my travel trailer. I found the tire had a large piece of the sidewall missing and the cords and belts sticking out. I replaced it with another brand tire. After the very next time i used the trailer,on 08/08/03 approximately 300 miles later, the left rear tire developed a large bubble on the shoulder of the tread. I was able to catch it before it blew. I replaced it with another brand as before but was able to keep it, as by this time i knew the tires were defective. Only 40 miles later on 08/14/03 i had the left front tire blow. After changing the tire on side of the road for the second time i replaced both front tires with goodyears, because each time i was unable to find a dealer that stocked the correct size carlilse tire. Both tires that blew where severly damaged. The one i have with the bubble has also got a bubble on the inside. I check my tires for condition and psi before each trip and am nowhere near the wieght limit of the trailer or the tires. As an ase certified master tech in med/heavy duty truck repair with 20 years experience i feel somewhat qualified to say this is a defective product that should be recalled!

The camper is a 2002 salem/forest river 29rlssthe tire is a carlisle st225/75r15, load range d with less than 1,200 miles on themafter internet investigation and the problems i've seen with this particular tire, they should be recalled, and damages to the camper should be paid for.forest river says they can't help us cause we're the 2nd owner and warranty has ran out due to this.carlisle nor goodyear have responded, but am expecting the same results.

Trailmanner travel trailer equipped with this carlisle tire 205/75r14 had a tread separation. When noticedtire wasflat, and part of thetread was gone. No dealer or manufacturer has been contacted at this time. Dot # dbkc412.

Carlisle tires failed on salem le travel trailer.not only did two of the tires fail the two remaining tires had cracks in their tread (carlisle st205/75d14, load range c, max. Load 1760 lbs. At 50 psi, sure trail st, date code 2902).

The contact has pictures, the tires, and the repair invoices.

Request nhtsa to review letter to determine if a recall or safety bulletin should be issued for carlisle radial st tires. *ph since purchase, the consumer experienced gross failure of all 7 tires and have replaced them all.the latest failure and subsequent failure revealed that all remaining carlisle tires were separating tread from the casing.the tire seemed to have disintegrated while being driven on the highway.it tore away so violently that it damaged underneath the trailer.others have experienced this problem as well with carlisle tires.(03' weekend warrior fs3000 travel trailer) *sc

Tire failure: tire tread seperated from tire while moving at nominal highway speed. Other tire incident 7/18/04, sold as new, had been repaired at least twice before. Other problem, propane gas water heater defective.

Second incident of tread separation of tires on travel trailer. First being in the spring of this year. Tires are original equipment tires from forest river trailer company. The tires are carlisle st205 75rx15.

Traveling on i-95 through jacksonville, fl. Pulling trailer at 55mph, tread on trailer passenger side rear axle tire separated damaging under carriage and side of trailer. Put on spare tire, drove into jackson and bought new radial tire replacement. Kept old tire.

During a 1000 mile roundtrip from michigan to tennesse, 4 of the 5 (including the spare) carlisle tires (175, 80 r13) on our 2002 hi-lo blew out.the last blow out was the original spare wich had less than 600 miles on it.all the tires were properly inflated prior to the start of the trip.the trailer was overloaded nor were we speeding.the first blow out took out the septic system of the trailer sending plastic parts all across the highway.all the tires seemed to fail in the same way, the sidewall appeared to give way and the tread separated.

I have a 2001 extreme dual axleboat trailer with carlisle 205 75 r14 tires unk dot #. While driving approx 60 mph i had 2 rear tire tread completely seperate from the tire while heading to my destination. Enroute back i was advised by a vehicle behind me that there was chunks of tread coming off the trailer tire. After pulling over to the side of the road i noticed that the left front tire tread was also peeling off. I contact carlisle tire and was advised that the tire was made by goodyear, but they no longer use them. They reimbursed me for the cost of the3 tires even though they were out of warranty (2 years). I still have 2 of the oringinal tires, 1 on the trailer 1 as a spare. I contacted carlisle to see if they would replace the 2 tires, but was told they were out of warranty. These tires all have less then 3000 miles and have always been covered, out of the sun and properly inflated. I have a big issue with these tires due tohaving to worry towing my boat with my children in the car as well as spending over 3 hours waiting fortow to arrive in the desert like last year. Appreciate a response rf

Belt shift/cap separation..............i am a service manager at a camper dealership,we sell 80 to 85 units a month.i have four campers here with separated tires and damage and two to three that have called in with damage from separated tires.some of my customers purchased a new camper and went to disney world which from here is about 656 miles and had three of four tires on the ground seperate.carlisle tires have a problem and with such a load on these tires from a camper its a matter of time before more than camper damage happens.i have five tires here of of a year and a half old camper the tires have between 7/32 and 9/32 and they are seperating and as i said new tires are doing the same.the tires i have here are dot codes:dbhhj124400,dbhhj124400,dbhhj124700,dbhhj124400 and dbhhj120101.

No single thing seems to have contributed to the failure. 6 of the 7 tires blew in the same place. The other was ready to blow with seperated bands. As these were radials, i went back to bias ply tires so 7 tires were bought to replace the radials. These are carlisle trailer tires.

I was driving at 60 mph when i felt the vehicle begin to shake.out of the passenger side tow mirror i saw rubber coming off one of my starcraft travelstar 2003 23rbs.debris tore the fender well apart and damaged the side of the trailer.i'm uncertain how many miles were on the tire because i bought the camper used, but approx 1/2 the tread is worn away.before the blow out the tire had no vissible damage and at the beginning of the 250mile trip the tire was inflated to 50psi. The tire is a carlisle st175/80r13.

I have had two carlisle tire failures on my weekend warrior 3705 slc 5th wheel trialer. On the first one i noticed the tread separating from the side wall before it actually blew out. Carlisle replaced it at10% cost to me. The second blew out while i was pulling. They are 22575r15's.

I have a 2001 25' rockwood ultralite travel trailer.it was equipped with carlisle st205/75r14 steel belted radial tires.all 4 wheels plus the spare was this tire.we use this trailer very little maybe averaging 1500 mi/year.on august 6,2004 the final carlisle blew out on interstate 10 near tallahassie, fl.every one of the 5 blowouts occurred on interstate highways.3 on i95, 1 on i75, and 1 on i10.my max speed is 65 mph.i check the tires and pressure before i take the trailer out.there was no warning on any of the blowouts.i believe these tires are defective.i called carlisle and since warrenty had expired, they were not even interested enough to ask questions about the blowouts.they should not have failed with the few miles i had on the tires.

2 of the 4 tires on our 2004 four winds (dutchmen) winners circle 5th wheel rv 35 foot unit. Tires were made by carlisle (radial trail 16" series), and after research it was found these certain tires (ours included) had a history of failures.both tires failed causing blowouts, 1 tire was nearly disengrated, the other had a section 7x12" missing from it.the other two had not blown out, but after they were inspected by a tire dealer, it was noted they would have failed shortly was noted they failed due to tread separation. Caused massive damage ($3-5k possibly more) damage to trailer. Due to weight of trailer (not overloaded - was being hauled nearly empty), frame damage may have occured as there are signs of the frame having twisted. Failures happens 315 miles aparts, and the tires had less than 2000 miles on them, all pressures were noted as good and in operating/load range. A 4 tires were replaced with 4 like tires from bf goodrich. It is unknown if there were any injuries or damages to other cars from debris or parts from trailer yet.speed of travel was around 60-65 on a flat level surface.all four tires failed, the 2 that blew out were the:front right, and rear left tires. *la

Tread separation.the vehicle's tires experienced tread separation on two occasions.the first time the tire tread separated it caused damage to the trailers wheel well and fender .the second time the damage was isolated to the wheel well (carlise, st 175/89d13, the pressure was 50 lbs). *nlm

Blew two carlisle tires (st225/75r15) within 100 miles!! 2002 forest river sierra 5th wheel. Tires/pressures/trailer load checked before departure. Tires not +or- inflated, & trailer was loaded light for trip: indiana to daytona, florida. 50 miles into trip, right side rear trailer tire blew apart.our speed was 53 mph @ 6 am, no oncoming traffic. Damage to trailer. We were able to stop safely and call aaa for assistance.installedspare tire, drove to a big o tire store, 25 miles away, purchased a duro tire to replace the spare that we just put on the trailer. Big o tires said first blow out caused the rim to be bent; this new tire was being mounted on a rim that was no good. Replaced when we get home; use for emergency spare only. We were back on the road at 8:45 am, figuring the worst was now behind us. But 60 miles further down the road, 10 am, left front trailer tire blew out, and this time it happened on a major interstate, in heavy traffic. Our speed was just 62 mph.we used the tire we just purchased (on the damaged rim), and panicked about what could happen next. Daytona was still a long way off... And we'd already lost 2 tires. I called our rv dealer & told them that two tires failing for no apparent reason is no coincidence: (one tire had <3000 miles; the other had <100 miles!)he said save the bad tires. Now we are too shaken to continue driving on carlisle brand tires. We stopped at another big o tire store, and had them replace the other two tires with non-carlisle tires! we still had one carlisle tire on, so the entire trip to florida and back was spent looking at the side view mirrors, watching for tire trouble, which meant we couldn't drive in dark: basically waiting for the last carlisle tire blow. Drive took twice as long, since we could only drive during day, storing 4 bad tires the entire trip. If you have had similar fate with these tires, contact us.nhtsa won't do us any good. After last tire blowout tire dealer pointed out data on trailer states tires should be st225/75r15 load rande d vs. St205r/7515tires that came on trailer.over $3000 in tires and repair cost.dealer claims that forrest river supplied incorrect tires.have one of the blown out tires and receipts for the repairs to the trailer and tire replacement.

Tire equipment on 1999 shamrock flagstaff trailer was completely demolished and caused damage to the trailer's wheel well.*mrthe consumer had no idea the tread had separated until he exited the vehicle and saw the damage (carlisle radial st).

Carlisle trailer tires tread separation/chunking.

2 carlisle trailer tires blew out a month appart and one caused damage to our new 36' 5th wheel rv. We believe these 16" tires to be defective and a serious hazard when towing a 5th wheel or trailer, as this is the second rv we had with carlisle tires that had tread separation for no reason. We lost all 4 tires on our previous 2000 25' wanderer wagon travel trailer in the first year; so far we have lost two on the 2004 36' 5th wheel rv.proper inflation was assuredprior to travel and temp was only about 40 degrees outside of havasu, az. The steel belts wrapped around the axle and the rubber tore up the side of the trailer, damage was $1,295.00.a month later the second tire peeled off in the same way but caused no damage, but much inconvenience, as it was in a bad place to change it, on a major freeway shoulder of i-15 near mesquite, nv.

Carlisle tires, 20575r14, mounted on a travel triler, original eqipment, 5000 miles on tires.there is some thread separation onback right and left side tires. Please provide more information.

The contact owns a 2000 sundowner sunlite lq horse trailer.the vehicle has carlisle tires.while driving 60 mph, the rear driver's side tire blew out.prior to the failure, all of the tires in the first set blew out.the contact has maintained the proper amount of air pressure in the tires.carlisle would like the contact to remove all of the tires from his motor home and forward them, which means he would have to purchase tires again.the tire size and dot number were unknown.the failure mileage was 500.

On twooccasions while traveling approximately 60 mph carlisle tires mounted on a boat trailer, size: st205/75r14, dot: unknown tread separated. Tires were inflated to 50 psi, and had less than 3,000 miles on them.please provide any additional information/attachments/photographs.

All four tires experienced tread separation and blew out while driving at 60/65 mph.prior to the failure, the owner had the tires checked, including the tire pressure.(forest river travel trailer,2000)

During service on my salem le (forest river) travel trailer to adjust the brakes and repack the wheel bearings, the dealer notified me that two of the trailer wheels were separating and coming apart.i was warned by the dealer that the tires were unsafe to drive on.all five of the trailer tires were replaced with a different brand.i presently have all five of the trailer wheels which were removed in the event someone wants to do a failure analysis on them.

Tire tread separated; carlisle st205/75r14 purchased new with eagle brand boat trailer (vin [xxx], model b20-50tb) manufactured december 1998 by johnston acquisition corp., 13th street, wyandotte, mi.this is the second tire to fail in this way.the first one failed approx. July 4, 2002. *nlminformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

In 2002 i purchased a new boat trailer that was equipped with new carlisle tires, sure trail, size 175 80 d13.i maintained the tires at the recommended pressure at all times and the load (boat, motor, equipment and gas) was below the rated capacity of the tires.this summer, while driving on the highway, i looked back in the rearview mirror and saw the right tire tread peeling off, with pieces flying all over the road.upon inspection, i found that the tire tread had cleanly separated from the tire itself.i inspected the other tire, which had not blown out, and found deep cracks in all of the grooves of the tread.clearly, the tire would have blown out if i did not stop at the first tire store i found and replaced it.the following factors clearly indicate that the tires were defective: 1) the separation of the tire tread from the blown out tire, 2) deep cracking in the other tire, 3) the lack of any tread wear and dry rot, and 4) the tires only had approximatley 2,000 miles and two years of use.furthermore, based on an internet search, i found that many other people have had the same experience with carlisle tires.i contacted the company and was referred to rick taylor, quality manager. I left three messages for mr. Taylor and received no reply. I made another attempt to reach someone (mindy ??), but did not hear back from her.it appears that the company is aware of the quality problems and is ignoring them, hoping that it will just go away.clearly, they should be forced to recall the tires.

While driving @ highway speed, felt slight vibration on right travel trailer tire. Inspection discovered chunks of tread missing on inside of tire, exposing two belts of inner component and cord.tire was checked for proper inflation-ok. Replaced w/spare.(dot number: unknowntiresize: 205/75r14)

Carlisle tire failure, tire size lt235/85r16. Two tire blowouts with tread seperation and sidewall failure.

The contact owns a 2002 dutchmen motor home.while driving 55 mph, the 2002 master tow dolley's left tire tread peeled and destroyed the fender.carlisle was notified regarding the failure.the master tow dolley has not been repaired. No other vehicle information is available.

While driving at 70 mph, i experienced complete tire tread separation of a carlisle trailer tire, size: 225/75r15.the only damage besides the tire was the trailer fender. If this was on a single axle trailer, this could have been disastrous.these tires were 4 years old and had approximately 3000 miles at the time of the failure.tire inflation was checked at the recommended 65 psi, the tires were not "rotted".the trailer was rated for 10668 lbs and the actual load at the time of the tire failure was less than 8000 lbs.the remaining tires tread depths were measured at .240 in. The new spare tire tread depth was measured at .280 in. Upon inspection of the other 3 tires, found 2 more tires with significant tread visual separation.called the tire manufacturer and a carlisle distributor and was told to only expect 3-4 years life on these trailer tires.apparently carlisle tirebelieves complete tire separation at highway speeds after 3 years of use is normal!

On august 13 2005 i was towing my 2004 four winns 214 funship boat home from deland fl. We felt a strange vibration coming from the trailer, then the right rear tire on the trailer blew. The tread on the tire had separated from the casing. There was steel coming through the tread. The tires are carlisle st205-75r14 radial trail. It was saturday night and no tire stores were open. We were forced to improvise and tow the boat home on three wheels.(at the time i did not carry a spare) i contacted carlisle to complain (the tires have less than 1000 miles on them) and they offered to send me two new tires. I requested four, being suspicious of all of them, but they said they would only replace the tire that failed and the tire on the opposite side of the trailer. The tires arrived a few days latter and i had them mounted on the existing rims.on sept 4, 2005 again we were towing our boat home from deland fl when the right front tire on our trailer blew.we had one of the tires that carlisle replaced mounted on a newly purchased rim as a spare, which we replaced and made it home.the failure was the same as before.the tread separated from the casing.we have heard that there is a pending class action suit and would like to be added to that suit.

Dt:caller stated there wasa blowout on passenger side rear tire.this happened without warning. Also, caller stated there wasanotherfaulty tire on the same trip, but caught it before it blew. It was onfront drivers side.the second tire was showing the steel belts when he had it replaced. Dealer said they would replace 2 of the five tire,s but caller wantsedall of them replaced. Manufacturer of tires said they would give him new tires or $88.00 a tire but caller does not want to put the same tires on his vehicle. Tires are carlisle radial trail, size st225/75r15 for trailor service only, 5th wheel is a jazz by thor.

Dt:2005, forrest river work and play 5th wheel.consumerhad problems with four tires.three blew out both on the tread and sidewall.on the fourth tire the tread came off.carlisle tires, st235/85r16.they blew out at different locations on the trailer.consumer has not been able to get in touch with the manufacturer. On july 31, 2005, the trailer got off the road swiftly.this forced the vehicle into the ditch and the bed of the truck was damaged.

I own a 35ft dutchman 5th wheel that is 9 months old. The tires are lt235/r8516 . The tire are always covered in storage and before trips the tire pressure and condition are always checked along with the lugs: nuts. On my way home from lake havasu i experinced not one but two serious blowouts on oppisite sides of the trailer less than 80 miles apart. The first blowout caused extensive damange to the back fender, under carriage, and frame around the back door of the trailer.the fender is shreaded. The tread completely separated from the tire. I put the spare on, continued on my way when less than 80 miles later i experienced another blowout. Same thing, tread completely separated from the tire. These tires had less than 1300 miles on them and were all inspected prior to the trip. I now had no spare and was forced into purchasing 2 new tires. I did not buy carlisle!!! i will now have to replace the other 2 tires and have the damage to my 5th wheel repaired. I have read and personally know of many failures with these tires. Something needs to be done before someone looses their life!!! please make this manufacturer responsble for their defective tires.

I had purchasedf a four winds traiker,2003 two years ago.on that trailer came with carlistle tires st206/75r15.last year i had a blowout which caused damage to the trailer and electrical system.last week i had another blow out.i donot believe these tires are safe.

On a trip to the southwest, my 1998 coachmen 30' travel trailer had 3 out of 4 tires blow out. They had plenty of tread, and were inflated to 50 psi. Size is str 245-75r15. I believe they were all carlisle. The failures occured over a 1-week period.

While driving 70mphtread fromleft front tire separated. On april 1, while driving 60 mph, tread onright rear tire separated. Both incidents damaged vehicle.original equipment on a 2000, sand piper, forest river, tire size st225/75r15, dot unavailable. Please add vin.

Coming home from a trip towing our travel trailer. The trailer which we bought new was about a year old and had the original four tires on it. The tires were carlisle st205/75r15 models. They were only as old as the trailer and had only about 2500 or so miles on them.they had plenty of tread like new and had no bulges on them. They were inflated at the proper 50psi cold as per the trailer manufacturer. Two of the four tires blew out on our way home in separate incidences on july 26 and 28th during the same trip. The first blowout occurred on i-5 south of mt. Shasta. The second occurred on i-40 east of barstow cal. The second blowout caused damage to the underneath of our trailer and to the electrical system of the trailer. I bought new tires on the trip so we could get home.i did not buy carlisle tires. The trailer is now at the dealer we bought it from having the damage evaluated. I will get a call from the dealer after they examine the trailer. They told me they will give me information on contacting the tire company regarding reimbursement for the four tires i had to buy to get home and the trailer manufacturer probably will cover repairs to my trailer. However, the dealer has not got back with me yet. They only picked up the trailer today. I returned the blown tires and the other two possibly defective tires to the dealer with the trailer as per their instructions. My trailer is a hilo travel trailer and that manufacturer is not in your list of manufacturers at the end of the form so i had to pick a company randomly from your list in order to submit this complaint. Again my trailer is manufactured by hilo and not the company i picked from your list.

Have had two new trailers that came equipped with carlisle tires.one tire on each trailer had tread separation before they had 2,000 miles.the tires were properly inflated and not overloaded. The first one (single axle trailer) blew suddenly and damaged the fender on the trailer.on the second trailer (tandem axle tire size st175/80r13) the bulge on the tire was felt, pulled over and replaced it.the first time, had both tires replaced immediately with a different brand leaving only a carlyle as a spare.in the process of replacing the four new tires and the spare now.can not trust any carlyle product.

Dt:consumer states that the left front tire blew out on his 2004 thor jazz 5th wheel trailer.it is the original tire.there was damage to the fender.consumerchecked the tire pressure the day before.he took the tire to a goodyear dealer because there wasn't a carlisle dealer nearby.he was told there was no sign of the tire runninglow and they thought it was a defective tire.

Travel trailer tires blew out on highway.

Consumer was traveling about 55mph on highway and wife looked out throughwindow and saw residue from tire, that damaged vehicle while driving, consumer had control of vehicle, andwas able to pull over and change the tire. Travel load range was dst225 75d 15.conusmer contacted manufacturer about the tire and damage to vehicle and was informed to send in all the necessary paperwork because the tire had a two year warranty, however consumer received a denial letter stating it was past two years, consumer also expereinced tread separation on a previous tire (carlisle tire.

Carlise tires.

I sustained a complete blowout on a left rear tire of my 2003 starcraft aruba travel trailer that left me dangerously close to i-20 traffic changing a tire. I proceeded to the next town and had td tires in vicksburg ms examine all carlisle 205/75-14 tires on the ground and found the 3 other tires with separation and unusual wear patterns. I was forced to purchase 4 tires from the tire company costing $384.00 to proceed home 350 miles to dallas. The tires had approximately 5,000 to 6,000 miles on them. Carlisle asked me to ship tires to them fed ex and they offered me 153.00 for all 4 tires. This is an insult after so much trouble and danger. Many drivers are complaining about carlisle tires.

The contact owns a 2002 coachmen viking pop-up camper (na).the vehicle has carlisle usa trail size 4.80-12 (load range c)(na).the contact stated that the tread separated on the rear passenger side tire while driving 60 mph.he was able to maneuver the vehicle off the highway.the tire was almost separated into two pieces.the tire failure mileage was 3,000. Upon purchasing a 2000 casita travel trailer in conneticut, while in route to pennsylvania the left tire came apart and blew out, and installed new spare and after reaching home had 3 new tires and wheels installed.the tires that were removed were placed in storage in the garage and just from sitting upon examination of the right tire that was removed the belts were shifted and the tread was about to separate.this tire would not have made for another 25 miles without incident.carlisle size 175x80xr13.the tire that blew out was severely destroyed there was no d.o.t.

I have a 31' extreme toy hauler trailer that is equipped with carlisle st type tires from the manufacturer. With less than 1500 miles, i 3 of these tires failed.on the first occurrence, a belt slipped and the tire developed a sidewall bulge. The trailer manufacturer replaced the tire with a new carlisle st. Less than 300 miles later another carlisle st tire developed a side bulge and then blew the sidewall.carlisle would not replace the tire, but gave me credit toward the purchase of yet another st tire.well, 3 days ago and another 200 miles, my third st tire failed.this time it was a total disaster with the tread completely separating from the tire.it not only blew, it damaged the trailer.i have asked carlisle to completely replace all six tires, because i am concerned for the safety of my family and others if another tire should fail.they flat out refused, and told me they would only credit me as the tire fail.sounds like carlisle would rather deal with a lawsuit in the future when someone is seriously harmed due to their poor tire quality rather then replace the defective tires now.

On aug 19, 2003 had to replace tire abd brake on alko axle.oct 15, 2003 replace two tires and brakes much damage to trailerthat winter alko paid to have in aligned 1 1/4 out of line but did not replace axle!2005 august brake failure again and now needed a complete $500 brake replacement of all shoes with around 12,000 on trailer. Dutchmen said never had this find of problem!

I have had two tires with tread separation on two separate occasions on my 5th wheel trailer.tires are about 3 years old, but have very little wear.i estimate they have about 3500 miles on themtires are carlisle radial st 225/75r15. *la

On four different occasions all four of the tire tread separated. Consumer managed to pull over to change the tire.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. Carli, 20575/r15.

Returning home from new hampshire vacation and was traveling approx. 60 mph when we heard a loud thud and looked in the side mirror and saw that the right front tire cap blew off the tire and ripped offour forest river 36ckss 5th wheel travel trailers fender skirt and damaged the undercarriage of trailer.all 4 tires plus the spare were new on our 2002 travel trailer, they had less than 5000 miles on them.this tire that blew never went flat. This is only the 2nd trip this camper made since new. Tire model information:carlisle all country radial a/s, lt235/85r16 , dot hn13001 ad4lwe are in the process of contacting the manufacturer carlisle tire to see what they will do for us.it seems that after researching this tire company, they have far too many issues with their tires blowing apart that someone needs to make them accountable.there were no injuries this time, thank god, just a good bit of damage to the trailer which i am sure i will get no reimbursement for.i don't really want to replace this tire with another of theirs.i think they know they have a problem and we as consumers should be reimbursed for the cost of those tires so that we may make the decision of purchasing a more reliable tire.

Tire failure at approx. 800 miles of wear. Tire tread suddenly and without warning seperated from the body of the tire which damaged the wheel well and outer fairing. Tires where properly inflated, outdoor temps where less than 60 and vehicle speed was less than 60.

I recently experienced (09/03/04) catastrophic failure of two carlisle tires (about 80 miles between failures) on my travel trailer. The trailer was purchased new on 09/14/01 (flagstaff superlite 25 ld) and the mileage was approximately 3,000 miles.i was not aware of the first failure (curb side rear) until i stopped for gas. All that was left of the tire on the wheel was the two side walls. Fortunately the front tire on the curb side did not fail. We installed the spare tire and continued. About 80 miles farther the front tire on the drivers side failed in the same manner. I retrieved a chunk of the tire tread from the highway. Later i found another piece under the bath tub.the damage to the trailer was repaired for $142.13 (new inner fender $49.95, new tail light assembly for license plate $12.18, replacement plate $5.00 and labor $75.00).with two failures within 100 miles, we decided to replace all five tires. The failed tires were carlisle radial st, st175/80r13 load range c. Other numbers on the side wall of the spare tire which i kept unmounted are: cr9579-2, and drcd80-a-efs.i phoned carlisle tire and told my story to their service representative. She said the tire warranty was for two years. I said i was unhappy with carlisle tires and the fact that their catastrophic failure damaged my trailer. She said she had noted the tire type and size that failed. She did not take any of my personal information.

I had 4 carlisle st225-75-r15 tires fail that were on my 2004 gulf stream trailer. The treads seperated on 2 of the tires and destroyed the fenders and slide room wiring. The first tire was replaced 1 month after i picked up the trailer in november of 2003, the dealer noticed a large bubble in the sidewall. The second tire blew out without warning near anaconda montana in 2005 and the third tire was changed when i noticed the tread seperating when checking tire pressure at monument valley utah in 2006. The fouth tire blew out near eagleville missouri in 2006. All the tires that failed including the replacement tire from carlisle. Carlisle would not pay for the tire with the tread seperating or replacement tires, however they did pay for the damaged fender. Air pressure was checking every morning and tires were within the load specifications. These tires are unsafe and should be recalled. With hundreds of reported failures i cannot believe that they are still allowed to sell these junk unsafe tires in the united states.

While driving at 65 mph the consumer heard a loud explosion. The right rear tire lost the entire tread. Two weeks later the tire in the exact same wheel experienced the same problem.

Dt: had a tire blow out on the passengers side. This happened on september 18, 2005. Contacted the manufacturer of trailer, and they repaired it.however, the insurance companypaid for it. Took the tire to the mechanic at dealership, and he saw no reason why thishappened. The tire was not dry rotted andof the tread came off.

The tread separated while driving sending the trailer and towing vehicle into a shallow ditch, totalling the trailer (carlisle st175/80d13, manufactured by dunlop tire corp, dot number 8lju378, dbjuh124100, dbjuh121700).nlm

Tires not safe on highway.the trailer's wheels and tires were defective (forest river 5th wheel trailer).

To protect the safety of every person on the highway???
