We have two 2005 toyota priuses which have exhibited identical stalling and shifting problems. The hybrid system will stall or not operate and will not allow us to shift the vehicle into gear periodically. One toyota dealer says we need to replace the transaxle, and another was not sure and said there best "guess" was to refresh the ecu and hybrid control module software , however after doing extensive research online believe it to be a combination of a software glitch attributed to a leak in waterproofing a gasket near an ecu. The problem was brought to the dealers attention almost a year ago while the vehicles were still under warranty. All they did was simply "flash" or refresh the memory and did not actually resolve the problem. The prius' hybrid-related components, including the hybrid control module are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles. We also mentioned to the dealer the unusual and excessive tire wear on both vehicles, some of the tires had no tread and were already bald after only 12,000 miles. I am wondering if this could be related to the steering or traction control issues prevalent with this model.

I purchased a brand new 2004 toyota corolla le from bob pagan/sand dollar toyota, 7626 broadway, galveston, tx 77551 on may 13, 2004 with 14 miles on odometer and drove it all the way to plano, tx. While i was driving it to plano, i felt its ride abnormal, excessive bouncing, very bumpy and rough similar to turbulences in a plane. Toyota boasts itself of total customer satisfaction. These are just slogans. They provide shoddy customer service. They refused to repair car, refused to refund full money towards buying another toyota and refused to help by saying that the car is designed this way. The steering also felt stiff and tight. This highly excessive bouncing, bumpy, shaky, jolting, turbulence, vibrating ride is not acceptable at all. There is definitely a problem with this car. Toyota needs to fulfill its pledge, obligation and commitment to customer satisfaction. I am not satisfied with this car. I wrote letters to toyota chairman in japan and also wrote to toyota president in the us. Toyota president called me but offered no help at all and refused to take car back and refused to repair it too. There is definitely a defect and it could be assembly line related or shock/struts related/ or could be tire related. Toyota sucks and their service sucks. They mislead people in their ads.

While driving on the neextension on my way to my sisters house, my steering wheel began to shaky and pull to the left. I grabbed hold of the steering wheel to try to put us back in the lane but it didn't want to go. Eventually i was able to jerk the steering wheel to the right and we then spun out into two 360 degree turns before landing in a ditch on the side of the road. I then noticed that both of my rear tires had problems as well, and these tires were just recently put on by team toyota on thursday october 30th 2008.
