My nissan pathfinder is a 2008, the vehicle has 23,000 miles on it. It is now feb. 1, 2010, and there is very little tread left. I have very young children and i am concerned that the tires will cause an accident due to lack of tread or fear of a blowout. The tires are bf goodrich radial long trail t/a p265/65r17.
Tire failure. B f goodrich uuf212210. I had 2 of the tire fail in june 2012. I had the other 2 tire examined and were said to be good. The 3rd tire failed in september causing my truck to leave the hi way trotaling out the travel trailre i was towing to roll over and totaled out. B f goodrich denied my claim saying it was caused by a road hazzard. I never hit anything in any of the tire failures. I have the tire and photos of the other 2 tires that had belt failures. I do not believe in coincidence. I believe that the entire set of tires were defwective and that b f good rich is trying to cover it up. I believe that an investigation is in order.
Bf goodrich p225/70/r15 blew out on the sidewall, totally separating from wheel. Contacted bfg only to be told tire is on backorder, called 3 months later was told tire is discontinued. I have full warranty on tire but bfg refuses to honor their obligation.
The contact owns a 2004 ford f-350 sd equipped with bf goodrich rugged terrain tires, sizes lt 265/75/r16. The contact stated that while driving 72 mph, the rear driver's side tire blew and caused damage to the rear driver's side quarter panel. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred twice before the most recent failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The tires were replaced. The tire failure mileage was 20,000 and the vehicle failure mileage was 332,000. The current mileage was 347,000. Updated 12/30/13
I have two new vehicles that are in need of new tires soon:vehicle #1: 2010 honda cr-v with 16k miles vehicle #2: 2010 toyota tacoma truck with 14k miles. Both vehicles will need tires within 2-3k miles. This is wrong. When i buy the same brand tire new at the tire store they will sell me that same tire on each vehicle noted above with a warranty of up to 40k plus miles. Why is it when you buy a new car or truck the tires are junk and don't last? this is a serious issue. How can the manufactures sell a vehicle with defective tires on it? when you know you can buy the same tire and have a longer wear life when purchase for an official tire dealer.i cannot believe no one in the government has addressed this issue. Please give me some feedback. [xxx]parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I had five (5) bf goodrich radial all terrain ta tires fail while driving the same vehicle over about a ten year period. Each failure is the same. The steel belt of the tire partially separates while rolling. The first occurred about ten years ago on the interstate while pulling a small flatbed trailer. Steel belt then whips around inside wheel well damaging whatever it comes in contact with. Bf goodrich radial all terrain ta tires were on this truck when purchased used. Second tire failed approximately three years ago the same way at less than 30 mph. Replaced all with used set of four tires with 50 % tread left. Less than a month after, third tire failed on interstate once again in the same way. Steel belt cut the fiberglass rear outer fender in half, ripped out the rear wiring harness, destroyed the left tail light, and even damaged the gasoline fill tube and destroyed its locking gas cap from the force of the belt whipping round and round the wheel, partially attached and partially off. Nearly lost control of vehicle, but was not involved in accident. All tires failed whilein driver's rear wheel position. Then last month again, the left rear bf goodrich radial all terrain ta tire steel belt came partially off at about 30 mph. Each time a used tire replaced the failed tire. Then two days later, a fifth bf goodrich radial all terrain ta began to fail with steel belt coming apart. This time right rear wheel location. Noticed the failure before steel belt came completely off and any damage was done.replaced with bf goodrich mud terrain ta that were also used but have not failed.
Tread separation from casing on 3 separate tires on 3 separate vehicles. Tires were all bf goodrich mud-terrain t/a km2 tires, size lt265/70r-17. Vehicles were (2) 2011 dodge ram 2500 crew cab 4-wheel drive pickups and (1) 2011 ford f250 super duty crew cab 4-wheel drive pickup. The tire on the ford was the latest incident within the past month.
Bought a set of b.f. Goodrich all terrain t/a ko lt235/85r16 lre dot bforuh21 on nov.21, 2011. My truck is a 1997 dodge 2500 4x4 5.9l diesel. Had 217,260 miles on it. On wednesday, apr. 4, 2012 at about 10:30 p.m. My husband was driving us home. The rear passenger tire tread came completely off in one piece and all that was left on the rim was the perfect sidewalls. I see b.f. Goodrich has recalled this same tire before for the same problem.
I had a set of bf goodrich mud terrain tires 33" on a 06 wrangler.the tires were about 5 years old but had barely been used, approximately 80% of the tread was left.i swapped these tires from a 73 cj5 that i just wasn't using that much anymore.after around 4000-5000 miles after the switch the tire popped on me going down the highway doing 75-80 mph.the vehicle shook for 2-3 seconds then i heard a "pop", instantly this threw my vehicle where it flipped and rolled and totaled the vehicle.i had to be airlifted away as a result of this accident.investigators from jeep and my insurance company both concluded that this was a product defect that caused the accident.while taking up the issue with bf goodrich they advised me to take the tire in to be inspected.the tire store stated after about 10 seconds of looking at the tire that it was caused by a road hazard.i did not hit anything at all during this 4 hour trip that i was just on and the tire was inflated at 35 psi.bf goodrich didn't care about the accident or my injuries.they did offer me 30% off a new tire.too bad i don't have a vehicle to put a tire on anymore.i checked the air pressure prior to the beginning of the trip from san diego to phoenix.i also filled up with gas and walked around the jeep, to wash the windows, and didn't notice anything wrong with the tires.the road that i was traveling on was well maintained and free from objects.i did not run over anything.i do have custody of the bad tire still on the rim and plenty of pictures of the tire and the vehicle after the accident.it is obvious that the tire failure caused the accident.one person said that the tire looked almost like it was re-treaded.
I was driving down the interstate at 75 mph, when a big bang happened and my truck started to drift as if i had a flat tire. After stopping the truck,i noticed one tire had the tread completely come off and had damaged the side of my truck severly. The tire was not flat,,but had no tread left.
Friday 09,2010 goodyear assurance tire threads separated on 2007 saturn ion while driving.the vehicle started to make a whipping sound for which i pulled over thinking i had a flat.i could not see anything wrong and the following monday july 12,2010 took car to get oil changed and let mechanic know of what had happened. Car was serviced and mechanic adv could not find anything wrong..drove car still worried car kept making strange sound and notice tire needed air but was not flat when i was checking tire i happen to notice through the inside my tire i saw i had a wide portion of missing.placed spare and drove to firestone to get tires replaced.
Driving on i-95 southbound when i experienced a catastrophic tread separation to my driver's side rear tire.i was able to get my vehicle to the side of the road and signal help.fortunately, i escaped this failure uninjured.
I recently had three (3) bf goodrich tires (225/75r16e bfg comml) on my rv separate within 1,000 miles of each other.these tires were less than 3 years old - 2 failed with less than 10,000 miles and 1 failed within 11,000 miles of purchase.at the time of the separations we were in rural southern oregon about 1,000 miles from our home in southern california.the first incident occurred in may 2013 when 2 rear tires had separation at the sidewall and tread.at the time of the second incident in july 2013 another tire started separating at the tread. We replaced all 3 tires in oregon at the local tire dealer.at the time of the first separation, i contacted the dealer where i purchased the bf goodrich tires requesting his assistance in submitting a warranty claim.he told me there was nothing he could do until i returned home.i took pictures of all the separated tires inclusive of separation areas and dot numbers.upon returning home, the dealer said he needed the old tires for warranty claims.it is ridiculous to expect us to carry 3 damaged tires around in our rv until we returned home.this is especially unreasonable when he told me at the time of the first incident that there was nothing i could do at that time - that was when i could have made arrangements to ship the tires somewhere for inspection.i contacted the tire dealer's corporate customer service representative who made many calls to his supplier and bf goodrich.he could get no help for this issue without the old tires and actually was told by a bfg rep that "bfg did not make tires that failed". Needless to say i was astonished to hear such an outrageous claim since 50% of the bfg tires i purchased in march 2011 failed due to separation with less than 12,000 miles and within 28 months of purchase.
The contact owns a 2010 chrysler town and country equipped with bf goodrich advantage ta radial tires, size: 225/65r16 (na). While driving approximately 75 mph, the rear driver's side tire experienced a blowout. The aluminum valve stem detached from the tire and the lug nuts were severely corroded. The contact stated that the remaining three tires were subject to severe cracking on the sidewalls and there were rubber fragments from the rear driver's side tire at the time of the blowout. A highway helper was contacted to replace the tire with the spare located underneath the vehicle. Hastings chrysler center (2980 highway 61 south, hastings, minnesota 55033, (651) 437-5200) was made aware of the failure and replaced the tire valve sensor. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 30,000. The tire failure mileage was 14,000.

My 2007 ford f150 just experienced its 3rd valve stem failure from a topseal auto parts tr414 valve stem that is supposedly manufactured by shangai baolong automotive corporation.i received a notice from ford to check my valve stems back about a year and a half ago, but all of them appeared okay at the time i checked them and as i recall the bulletin did not insist that the vehicle needed to be inspected by a dealer.i experienced my first valve stem failure on 9/6/09 requiring a new tire.my dealership told me tough luck, saying i should have brought the vehicle in for it to be checked by them.i had to replace that tire myself for about $185.i then requested that the 3 remaining stems be replaced by the fugate motors dealership in el dorado springs, mo.the vehicle was still in warranty in september 2009.the dealer looked at the valve stems but said they did not have replacement stems and said they had checked the 3 remaining stems and they were fine and did not need to be replaced.while returning from colorado last week i experienced another failure on 6/24/10 requiring a changed valve stem at a walmart and and a 3rd failure on 6/25/10 which will require another new tire. The dealer and ford motor company now deny any responsibility for a shredded tire that could have caused a serious wreck.they also pointed out that my tire pressure sensor may be bad due to the extent of the tire shredding.they now also remind me that my vehicle is out of warranty.something is desperately wrong here!
Valve stem cracked leaving tire flat. Had it replaced and the tps has not worked for the tire that deflated. Replaced and still not working.
Valve stem broke while checking a customer's tire pressure.
