The car was vibrating incessantly. A loudbang, thud heard from the right front tire.pull off the side of highway 220, southbound, about 10 miles north of hico, tx.the entire rubber around the steel belt was stripped off.the blow out caused damage to the running board and tire wheel area.i purchased these 4 tires on 7/21/11 so there are only 2 yrs old with about 20-25 miles on them.before this blow out, i actually replaced two of the other tires replaced weeks before.one on of them, the car shook violently and the tire had a giant bulge.3000 miles later, almost 2 weeks, the second tire started stripping off the rubber and tearing apart. Car shook then too.the third tire (story in first paragraph) completely tore apart before we could get to a safe spot to check it out.when each tire had a noticeable problem, i did the following:1. First tire: immediately went to discount tire company for repair2. Second tire: put on spare (it was july 4th)3. Third tire: put on spare because tread had separated.one time is fluke, two times is a coincidence, three tires failing within 5 weeks is a definite pattern.please review these tires.

Reporting bf goodrich commercial ta tires: size 245r7517this is the 2nd incident involving the bf goodrich tires on the same vehicle.1st accident (2012) ... Tire blew-up on right front causing in excess of $3,000 to truck, rim and side board. Type of vehicle is a ford f-350 super duty dual wheel crew cab. We have used bf goodrich for years until incident #2on may 20,2013. This incident caused approx.$2,600.00 on right rear, inner tire blow-out. The tire actually threw the entire tread off leaving the belts on top of the inner tire. After calling bf goodrich, they claim no other complaints have been filed or registered with the 17" bf goodrich commercial ta and i would have to send the tire to them for lab inspection. Prior to this accident, we inspected visually all tires to meet d.o.t requirements. Estimating tread wear, etc, we feel this tire still had around 7000 to 10000 miles before bars would show. We have taken pictures of the tire before sending to bf goodrich. A statement from the driver is available. The tire started making a "thump" sound right before coming apart. I have my doubts this company will replace any tire(s) or assume any damages. It will probably take more severe cases before there is a recall or damages accepted by bf goodrich.

Today i replaced the second tire from a set of four lt275/70r18e1 bfg commercial t/a a/s tires purchased on november 23, 2010.both tires were replaced with less than 30,000 miles of wear because of tread separation.fortunately, in both cases the issue was discovered before catastrophic failure.the separation events happened about 3,000 miles apart.because of the dangers of tread separation, i went ahead and replaced the other two tires on the vehicle.because those two tires were not currently exhibiting signs of separation, the tire service company was not able to obtain any warranty proration.i complained in writing to the manufacturer and asked for a full replacement set.i received a reply that basically said for me to work with the tire service company and that the only thing they would agree to would be a proration.this response is totally unacceptable as it is my understanding that tread separation is the result of a manufacturing defect, and since two out of the four tires from the same set exhibited this defect it is highly probable that it was merely a matter of time before the other two exhibited the defect as well.i also found the response to be totally unacceptable because this company has a recall in place for similar tires and therefore should be fully aware of the safety implications.
